And it's not like this pilot couldn't make the show because of the elephant and hippo, think about the pilot for Powerpuff Girls, it was literally called Whoopass Girls and even made it onto the Powerpuff Girls complete series DVD. So it's not fair to say this cartoon couldn't become a show because of what it contained, heck it's a lot more appropriate than the shows that came out afterwards.

I think move them up a decade each. Sly is more 70s, think maybe even moving into the funk/disco transition; he’s got the disco ball and the Boogie Nights text by his hammock, which is a film set in the late 70s. Stavros seems more 80s synthesized music, such as Kraftwerk like prev folks said. Loubie goes into 90’s.

I only just learned about this short recently and I gotta say, if this short had the chance to become a fully fledged show back in the day, it would have served as an effortless homage to the 90s era of Cartoon Network. So much untapped potential here.

It’s sad this never got a show, but the guy who produced it, Paul Rudish, ended up working on the new Mickey Mouse cartoons and I think his style from this shines through there in many ways
This is one of my favorite shorts, because it's one of the few music-themed cartoons with actual music tracks that are bangin' enough to actually hold up the concept. Disco, house, electrofunk, and a lot of incidental sounds from 808s and beat machines, these dogs definitely keep it bumpin'!

Uncle Grandpa is like secret mountain fort awesome or problem solverz - nonsensical etc. a lot of new cn and disney xd shows were like that (billy worm or whatever, pickle and peanut, two more eggs, mixels, oggy and the cockroaches, more probably). And I just don’t know why this ever became preferred by the networks over the more charming stuff.
I can "get" why it might have failed the cut. Some useless 70 IQ executive probably whined that the show couldn't carry episodes. After all, there's no "hook", the dogs just show up to a place and do a show, so it would have to essentially just be a show about nothing (objectively the best kind of comedy show). While the show would've likely been great, I can "see" why it would be passed up for pilots that could demonstrate a clearer set up.
Watching these three dogs in action, for whatever reason, made me think of a more cartoonish, non-sensicle version of *It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia* And that show is golden.

So many things about this to love. The visual gag of the DJ flipping his decks and riding off on them like a bicycle. The dance cycles at 5:59. John DiMaggio's gangster voice at 2:49. Dee Bradley Baker's weird gibberish at 4:00. The sound design of the butt-crushing at 5:00. This whole short just feels like lightning in a bottle, the last gasp of classic Cartoon Network. It's not that the channel is bad now or anything, but stuff like this just doesn't get made any more.

Maybe he knows who sang it He currently works for Bluetube. 3rd Option: Someone who worked in the Cartoon Network Studios Europe or Asia division might have produced the song. Which is a big possibility because the vocalists of this song sound kinda sound like British or Australian.

This is such a good pilot, and I hope they bring it back because the classic animation style would be a breath of fresh air. As much as I love the 'bean mouth' cartoons, this fluidity and 90s style would be great.

I think Theres two songs that play, the first one plays when they get there and ends when lubby stuffs himself in the vm, and another song when the keys guy is plugging in his shit. They sound like different songs. I also really like the music when theyre going to the bus
Of the 3 dogs I only know who's the voice of one of them Phil Lamarr is the funky guitarist sly. The german one who plays the keyboard is either Rob Paulsen or Jeff Bennett. While the short cupcake loving drummer loubie is either Billy West or Dee Bradley Baker.

Of the 3 dogs I only know who's the voice of one of them Phil Lamarr is the funky guitarist sly. The german one who plays the keyboard is either Rob Paulsen or Jeff Bennett. While the short cupcake loving drummer loubie is either Billy West or Dee Bradley Baker.
Stavros (the German one) was voiced by Jeff Bennett and Dee Bradley Baker voiced Loubie (the short drummer).
