This would later be retconned, as because Lord Hater gets nervous around women, all of the Watchdogs are male.
I find it really interesting how in this pilot, and even in the storyboards also posted recently, they make it so much more obvious that Wander is almost putting on an act to find a solution his way. However, Sylvia just calls it 'doing something awesome' instead, and it's so much more clear now that he's totally playing a part! I love it!

Don't know if you know this but Craig actually is the creator of the two. I could see a difference however it could be small & I still think it holds the charm of the final
Sylvia is the character who acts different the most in this pilot, I really wish we saw more of her overly sarcastic side in the final version of the show but at the same time, she’s less loyal and isn’t as much of a tough fighter 😅
@@deez6683 It's a tale of two different timelines. The alien race in the final one is hard to empathize with except when Hater and the watchdogs are actually intimidating; the only time in the final version of "The Greatest" when specifically Hater is actually terrifying before the contest for the titular title is when he initially declares himself the greatest in all the galaxy - what's brilliant is that they interrupt him with the title card before he says "IN ALL THE GALAXY!", and when we hear him after the title card, his menace is preserved (I will say, though, that the list of laws Commander Peepers lists in the final version feel in line with Hater's canon characterization; also in the final version, I like how Peepers' "I won't let you down, sir!" is ironically echoed when the alien king says "I think he may have let you down."). The two Sylvias are completely different, too: pilot Sylvia plays straight man to Wander's cloudcuckoolander (it is hilarious when she incredulously screams "What am I supposed to do with this?!" when Wander hands her a flash camera), only becoming her canon self in the chase sequence; final Sylvia is much more gung ho (I'll add that while the chase in the pilot is superior, I certainly enjoy Hater crashing into his own statue as a clever echo to Sylvia's assertion "You gotta be crazy to stand up to Hater." in the final version, and how he crashlands in the final version is much more clever than how he crashlands in the pilot). Finally, while the final version of the episode makes it clear that Wander knows Hater but not the other way around - hence giving need for a gung ho Sylvia - the pilot feels like they are meeting for the first time (I certainly enjoy Wander taking the time to correctly learn each and every watchdog's name in the pilot, especially with the watchdogs allowing him to do so; while I also admit that it kills me every time in the final version when Wander says "Hate's great! Best villain! Taste cake! It's fillin'! Fix gate! Needs drillin'! Date Kate! She's willin'!"); Wander's final moments with the town in the pilot also feel like they have the gravitas of the second season's episodes (finally, I like that the pilot used music from the animated film Rango, which lives-rent free in my head - 1:40 - but that's just how pilots work, so I understand them making new music for the moment it appeared). I will say one thing, though - I like how the watchdogs in the final version parallel the aliens once they embroil themselves in the fair.
