Boy this show really should've been aired. There is so much potential to have lots of fun and character development in every episode, plus a chance for them to play different forms of music every episode. Could've have lots of memorable songs, unlike that show Grojband.
@Casey Pace They haven't cared about music for like over a decade. MTV would rather bash white people and glorify the liberal agenda even though it's not really working.
I could see it working as a show on modern Adult Swim, like something they get with the first season originally made intended for Cartoon Network that they know won't find an audience with kids.
Top 3 reasons this should be a series 1. The animation is so damn inviting, I think as a somewhat tribute to the 90's cartoons Dexter's lab for example. 2. The main three characters in both design and personality seem impressive, they have the potential to have an ed edd and eddy vibe bouncing off each other. 3. The music of this show is very good, sounds like the 70's, the perfect music to groove out to. in conclusion as a lover of animation this really was so refreshing to see nowadays
This cartoon is a lot of fun, and there's a lot of things about it that appeal to me; thr characters, the animation, the humor, it all blends well. HOWEVER, this definitely works better as just a short rather than a full show. It's difficult for me to picture it as a full length show or something that could work for more than a few episodes.
Was going to post the same, it's an excellent animation, and the artists definitely have a big repertoire of visual gags, but the setting itself is very limited. Any series involving them would either have to be too off-topic (defeating the point) or more of the same.
why? as a writer i think this is a great premise for a series. It should be episodic with an over arcing plot about their music careers and personal life. Youd have time to flesh out the world, the cast and the side casts characterization.
@@CommieApe Can you give us a 3-line idea for 3 episodes with these characters that don't involve detracting from music and instead focusing on how they've got an electricity bill due because Dog 2 forgot to pay it and now they're involved in a million different things that don't capitalize on the show's main selling point of groovy music? With how great Phineas and Ferb did, I could easily see this show being picked up. Paul Rudish’s art style has vastly improved (not to say this pilot is ugly, far from it), so seeing this with updated visuals would be great! Maybe each episode could have them doing odd jobs to fund their band and ending each episode with a new song. I wouldn’t even mind if they stuck to one genre, like Jem and the Holograms. Yeah it could go for some retooling in a few areas, such as making it clear what kind storytelling they want go for with their pitch and work on the humor a bit more. Another factor that may have led to being unsuccessful is that maybe having a music oriented show could be too expensive and you'd have to make a lot of songs for each episode. @@Idamensional Sorry, I meant establishing the story itself a bit more, such as further fleshing out who these characters are and their main goals. I knew I wasn't the only one!!!
XXPedia That's what I was thinking!
The vocoder just helped solidify it.
More like Prince and Zapp
The dog with the blue hat is my favorite character.
I think this would have made a very good show, I don't get why they never made more.
it was when CN lost interested in animated shows in that time i think it was back in the dark era they had when they tried live action and they hired a nickelodeon president and they cancelled any animated production till regular show and the other show started again

Nope you're talking about the mid 2000's this pilot came out around the time where the Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy" and Code Name Kids next Door" were on the air. Kids just weren't interested in a musical based show when they had those two shows I mentioned to watch, were loved by many.
So my point is this show's potential was overshadowed by vastly more popular and successful shows.
@@Off-with-a-bang the pilot is from 2010 go and do your own research check imdb or wikipedia or idk, btw this pilot is fully digital just look with ur monitor is super clean mid 00s cartoons were still doing in paper and digital and if you dont know what im talking about just check the resolution was maded in a computer with a tablet
Let's start a campaign right here right now to get this from a pilot to a full blown show
the german dog guy is so stressed he wakes up exactly 1 minute before the alarm
Like many other pilots rejected by Cartoon Network, this one had the bad luck to have come out at the wrong time.
Ngl this cartoon made me feel a bit better with my art style, when sly points i went "I draw hands like that!!"
Woulda loved this as a kid
This would work so well with today's cartoons
And the question that remains is...
HOW DID CARTOON NETWORK STUDIOS NOT ACCEPT THIS MASTERPIECE CREATED BY PAUL RUDISH AND DIRECTED BY CRAIG MCCRACKEN
I love Sly’s voice! He sounds like Snoop Dogg 😂😂
He’s voice by Phil Lamar he does a great job
The entertainment industry really think that there can’t be a middle ground between kid and adult cartoons.
One of my favorite tropes in character design is very sharp angular character versus very rounded smooth character. Just the contrast but the ability to work together is just 😙👌. I think I just like designs in general with really strong shape language.
The scene at 1:29 is something out of a Funkadelic music video, so awesome, this short is incredible.
Impossibly cool!
5:32 If you just want to skip straight to the song.
5:33*
Oh god. I remember this short. I absolutely LOVED it,not hard to see why. It has such a fascinating style!
This would have been so interesting to see on CN
Best use of stock footage ever
0:11-0:16 obsessed w this little bump
by far the best one, I love the visual differences between each dog it's so charming
Ah yes the three personalities. Stoner, hip hop and German.
this was so amazing!
reminded me of all the older shows i used to watch on cartoon network.
i don't know why this didn't have a series but i would definitely pick it up, now of all times would be perfect with cartoon networks popularity going down the drain and kids just don't seem to be into cartoons like i used to when i was a kid, i still am. i think this is what the world needs though, something original.
This show would have been hugely expensive with animation this wonderful
Loubie or whatever his name is has SUCH Parappa vibes. I love it.
Phil Lamarr has a great voice for funk.
HOLY FUCK THIS IS THE BEST MUSIC I'VE EVER HEARD IN A CARTOON
I get it.
He's a _German_ Shepherd.
Love the coexistence of humans and anthropomorphic animals. Reminds me of The Bad Guys.
This was extremely charming. My favorite character is rhe German dog. I think that the concept needed some refining but the aesthetics are just dripping with sleekness. Would have been very cool on Cartoon Network.
Man if this got to be an actual show way back when, I know it'd be one of those types that Ma wouldn't approve of, so I'd secretly stay awake to watch it, and I would like it so much I'd make it part of my personality, and then, instead of not having friends at school, I'd still not have friends, but at least I'd probably have better tastes in Vibe Music way sooner.
I know I'm late but TH-cam just recommended this and I loved it
god damn
internet changed , all i found 5 years ago about this was 3 dog nights instead of more content about the show
it's pretty nice to see other people care about this
also if this show ever gets on air ... please do not fucking change it like Lakewood plaza turbo... i just cannot watch it now
