Yes CBN wheels run much cooler take off less metal and can only be used on hss steel or better, but also are more expensive. I am still using the white wheels and they are fine. 😁
Found you through this 5 yo video :D +1. I just bought a cheap 6 inch bench grinder and ordered a CBN wheel for it. I will mostly be using it for rough grinding chisels and plane irons. But I do the odd turning as well. Do you know the height required for the Wolverine system from the base to the center of the wheel. Cheers and thanks for sharing.
Great to hear that you will be working with some sharp tools soon! Off the top of my head I couldn’t tell you the setup height for the wolverine system. I know it is on the setup information when you purchase the system. You could probably google search it or get the info from the Oneway website. Thanks for watching!
Good Video and good information. Just curious why instead of using a router to cut into the maple, just use a 1/2" spacer under the holding apparatus to hold it up.
Yes absolutely! There you go trying to make less work for me! Ha ha. I guess I just wanted one solid block. Kinda block headed sometimes. At least it worked well for me! 😀
First thing I did with my 1 hp Rikon was remove that lamp. Totally worthless. As for bluing the high speed steel, you can not get it hot enough so that the metal loses any tempering of the cutting edge. That was the whole point of making high speed steel.
Yes! Since I posted this video I have learned this about HSS. Although I do still have the lamp attached to my Rikon, you are right it’s pretty much worthless though. It may be removed in the future as well. Thanks!
I just raised the sharpening bracket to fit the grinder .
Yes, sometimes I make more work for myself! 😀 it was an option , but I like how it worked out. Thanks
What would be better wheels that run cooler?

your set: Enjoy the new toys
As soon as you can I would recommend a couple of cbn wheels. It will happen someday, and the sooner the better. You’ll never go back. Happy turning.
Which CBN wheels would you recommend

Ha give me a break I was excited about it at the time.
Doesn't the sound of squeaking styrofoam just make you cringe?
I’m not the fingernails on a chalkboard kind of guy. 😀 never bothered me for some reason. 🤷🏻♂️
