- A driver who killed a pregnant soap actress filmed himself speeding moments before collision.
The crash killed pregnant Hollyoaks star Frankie Jules-Hough and put her son in a coma.
Adil Iqbal, 22, tailgated and undertook other vehicles in his father's BMW car as he reached 123mph on the M66.
Iqbal, was driving with one hand and holding his phone with the other, has been jailed for 12 years.

Absolute joke. Driving like that is essentially a murder waiting to happen. Anything under 40 years is insulting. This guy killed TWO people.
He killed two and put two into coma. Got sentence increased from 12 to 15 years and I doubt he will serve full sentence.

He put his foot to the floor to drive as fast as the car would go. Because of that two people are dead. Anything less that 20 years for each victim is absolutely an insult to the family.
I remember seeing videos like this on twitter and users condemning the drivers by saying “they’re gonna kill someone”. Those people replied with “Nothing happened lmao” “y’all are just soft” “roads are meant for driving” and mocking the people concerned. These drivers don’t give a damn about people’s lives

Yep, before I even reached 17 years of age I'd been in two near fatal accidents, neither of them being my fault. The second one was a speeding driver who hit me head on after taking a corner too fast. I never got justice for either, it destroyed my life yet I see more and more idiots with IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO ME SYNDROME these days and it makes me so bitter, angry and hateful. 😠 😡

I've lost all hope in the UK judicial system. My friend was hit by a drunk driver and was wedged between cars. Firefighters had to get him out. He had to be sent to hospital. The drunk driver was so wasted he couldn't even remember what happened the next day. The driver also has been banned driving twice in the past for drink driving. Finally, they gave him £400 penalty with 3 year driving ban... That's so wrong.

I actually don't understand how this gets only 12 years and 14 years of a driving ban. They have the power to give him life - and if this case doesn't get that sentence what would? Driving doesn't get much more reckless and the result couldn't be much more horrific. The judge honestly needs their head checked, and the CPS should appeal.

This is insane, if they took away his DL and his parents not allowed him to drive this wouldn't have happened! He had two previous driving violations and police let him with WARNING for speeding just weeks before he finally killed someone! Now he'll get out, with life still ahead of him and he can drive again?! How is this punishment? How is it safe to hand DL back to someone like this!!!!

The Qur'an is clear about this (towards the end of the Qur'an). If the lady denied the prophet Muhammad, knew about Islam, and refused it, then there was no crime. If she is living without Allah, she is living in sin. She's not innocent, and therefore no bad thing done.

This is why I never pull over on the side of the Highway or Freeway if I can avoid it. I drove for miles with a flat tire twice to get off the road into a parking lot. I am terrified of this happening.
Which is just as dangerous follow the Highway Code and do as your told exit your vehicle and stand well away on the hard shoulder facing traffic.

Reminds me this one day I was parked on the shoulder, and I had to keep moving forward until I was finally parked IN THE GRASS, because people kept using the shoulder to beat traffic.

12 years is not enough, he'll probably do 8 max. Its bad enough losing a loved one, but then to see what our soft judiciary hand out as a punishment just makes it worse. There are too many idiots like this on our roads & a clear message needs to be sent to them, but our legal system is failing us badly.
right.. but after those 8-12 years, he will leave, never be able to find a job, will be on a car insurance blacklist and will never be able to drive again, will not be entitled to much universal credit and will never live a normal quality of life from the second he leaves. In my eyes, being let into the world as a free man but being banned from doing anything and subject to either homelessness or basic housing with no money for the rest of your life is way worse than being in prison

This would count as vehicular manslaughter rather than vehicular homicide.
If this person intentionally tried to run the victim over, that would change it to homicide.
Regardless, this is terrible and has had a profound effect on the victims family.
The term was too short but I’m not sure if it is possible to get a true life sentence for a manslaughter. (In the U.K., murder now can get a LIFE sentence, not just 12 years)

I drove up and down that stretch almost every day for 31 years and it was always the BMWankpanzers, the Audis and the Golf GTIs driven by young Asian men that were speeding or cutting down the hard shoulder. Once I got into the Pimhole area of Bury it was like driving in Karachi or Lahore - been to both cities a dozen times so I write this from real experience.

Have to admit did the same thing when I was a teen not on crowded roads like this guy. We had a few highways that were empty of cars we see how fast we could get going. We only risked ourselves it was dumb the cars we had where junky old 1980's cars probably would have been killed if we crashed. Most teens I knew did it parents just had no clue.

A New Zealand driver on a restricted driver’s licence, who was speeding and had been drinking alcohol, killed 5 of his passengers when he drove into a concrete pole. His 2022 sentence, two and a half years imprisonment. He was released on Parole after serving just 15 months. This is one of many pathetic sentences handed out in this country.

That's nothing. In 1955, my Dad was in an accident where a pickup truck was speeding and ran a stop sign. The collision killed both my grandparents, it threw my Dad from the car breaking his pelvis and left my aunt with permanent brain damage. The guy driving only had his license suspended for a short time. Those were also the days before seatbelts.
And the vehicles back then were pure metal with no shock absorption! Horrible I'm sorry
