As a fervent Trump hater, I have to say, David...this was one of the most rambling, discursive, incoherent explanations I've ever listened to. Not very enlightening.
What IS clear -- even to an amateur like me -- is that Trump's confusion regarding Obama/Biden, Pelosi/Haley, etc. is a clear indication of his particular obsessions. He's paradoxically a megalomaniac and deeply insecure at the same time.

He needs a real check up.
Not just because he is running for President but for his family.
It gets devastating towards the end of the disease.
My grandpa on my father's side passed away with Alzheimer's and it was so sad
He was a very vibrant active man who loved life. Reduced to a childlike state
He would also have horrific anger outburst out of the blue for no reason at all

That is what happened to my aunt, who was a sweet woman very loving to her husband and 2 children. She developed Alzheimer's and became the total opposite, to the point that she tried to batter her husband. They were Jehovah's Witnesses, the most gentle people in my life in my teen years. It was sad to see her deterioration and his heartbreak during her illness. They have both gone on, like all the rest of my family.

True my husbands grandmother lived through her 90s. Her mind was sharp but her body was failing. Same with her daughter's who lived close to 90. Trumps father if I understand correctly. Had diagnosed dementia or Alzheimer's. Not sure which. My dad had dementia mid 80s due to tiny strokes scarring the brain. I have an aunt who 2 yrs ago was told she had two mini strokes that showed up on a brain scan. She was baffled as to knowing when she could have had them. Today she shows signs of it when she is stressed.

Absolutely! It's frightening how the American establishment bases fitness to be president on the amount of money they can raise, isn't it about time, with recent history in mind that they started rigorously testing these people for mental and emotional competency because the next time Trump tries to instigate riots may be much worse, and let's face it, people who think Trump cares about anything other than himself are delusional.

There are men and women in the Democratic Party that are all of that and are waiting in the wings. They are serving in the House and Senate and will have their turn at bat if the voters will do their own part in keeping the democratic republic going. Also, young doesn't always mean better, more reasonable or even able to do a better job. Experience and a life of proven service means a great deal in holding the office of the presidency.

@@rhondah1587 Although age per se is not a disqualifier, the risks of dementia and gradual loss of comprehension skills are far less in those 20 years younger than either Trump or Biden. A president who observes his/her own declining ability to follow the discussions around the table in a security briefing, for instance, can all too easily lead to the essential abdication of effective, well reasoned decision making in favor of advisors and others around them. Or worse, falling back on emotional, rapidly made decisions not following sensibly from the discussions. Not a good look. If I was to seek high office at the moment, the best job to have would be VP. Great chance of succeeding either candidate in the next 4 years.

@@sA-ny2jl When a sitting president declares a run for a second term, there are no debates. He/She becomes the nominee by the political party automatically. It's the same with both parties. The only debates are between the candidates from the other party not in power to decide their candidate nominee. Been that way forever. Now there can be debates between the two different party nominees but the Republicans have said no debates which means that the Republican nominee doesn't care to debate the sitting president. BTW, Joe Biden would wipe the floor with Mr. Von Shitzenpantz.

The DNC did everything to shut her down( no democracy on the democratic or republican side anymore) Americans lost out on a truly Great candidate for President.

But Trump is now too impaired even to be a bullshit artist anymore. Besides, he was always stupid as evidenced by his going into competition with himself in the casino business in Atlantic City with the inevitable result that his casinos all failed when just owing one would have done just fine. So that’s malignant narcissism because he obviously wanted to be the king of Atlantic City and hog all of the casino business for himself.

Trump’s health certificate sounds rather bland though, coming from a personal physician (and don’t we all remember the “Healthiest president ever” he made the weird guy sign). Furthermore: the (Trump-related) investigator claimed Biden had memory lapses, namely the year his son died. Personally i have to think hard which year my parents died. This opposed to Trump, who doesn’t know Baron’s age, even when he turned 18 (important coming of age) the month before.
As to the MOCA test: I’ve administered it, and it’s not hard for someone not suffering from dementia. As to the superb word remembering: Trump clearly had no clue. I guess you can spot the difference between remembering “ face, church, velvet, daisy, red”as opposed to “ person, woman, man, camera, tv”. After which he went on confabulating he got extra points for remembering the right order. Or his physician really distorted the test by making him repeat the “person etc” word sequence.

It has simple questions that any normal person of average intelligence would have absolutely no difficulty answering. Trump took one because he knows he has a problem and wanted to demonstrate that he doesn't. The fact that he was so excited to tell everyone that he "aced" such a test is very worrying in itself.

He has taken the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) at least twice by his own admission. You only are asked to take that if your health care professionals are concerned that you may be showing signs of cognitive decline. It includes doing things like drawing a clock face with hands at 10 to 2, drawing a cube, drawing a line connecting a series of numbered dots in order, and being give a series of unrelated words at the beginning that you are asked to repeat back at the end of the test.
What is funny in some ways is that Trump seemed to think that passing the MoCA is a great accomplishment when you should be passing it quite easily if you have little to no cognitive impairment.

I now recognize that as the beginning of his dementia-personality changes.( I have seen other relatives whose dementia was signaled by an extreme rigidity of thinking, exacerbating the worst aspects of their personality.-like Trump) Next came asking me where to turn at places he had been going for years. From 82 on, the decline has been swift and harsh. At 91, he cannot eat on his own, walk on his own, and is largely blank. It is like watching the person you love disappear and die, long before their body gives up.

As in almost the opposite, yes.
When Biden did it, he corrected himself, when trump does it, not only does he not realise it, he repeats it - and that's when trump is actually able to say the word...
I don't recall any examples where Biden messed up simple words, used the wrong words, or changed what he was saying in the middle of a sentence when he lost track of what he was saying*, and went off into some sort of rant.
      *Correction, I recall one example.
Remember, Biden has a stutter that causes him problems, sometimes, whereas trump doesn't have that excuse and, besides, a stutter doesn't have you saying a completely wrong, out of context, word, such as trump has a habit of doing.

My own doctoral training is in gerontology, and more specifically, cognitive aging. One of the maxims in the field is that many people "become more like themselves" as they get older. What does it mean? As children, most, if not all, of the contexts we develop in - the nurture, in the nature/nurture equation - are selected *for* us. We don't get to pick our family, neighbourhood, socioeconomic level, school, etc. Even though we choose our friends, they are chosen from who is available within our limited context. In adolescence and adulthood, however, we begin to select more, and do so in keeping with our personality. As we progress in adulthood, we make more and more choices about who we associate with (and don't associate with), where we live, our pastimes and interests, our career path and the type of work we do, and so on. And, more and more, as adults, we do what we feel most comfortable doing and being, given our personality. And while money may or may not buy happiness, it WILL buy the contexts one prefers, including where it lets you live, who it lets you associate with, and whose affiliation and loyalty one can buy. It lets you be who you want to be, whether it's good for you or not.
Trump has been a "boss" for the last 40 years or more. It's what he knows and prefers. But it has also absolved him of acquiring and continuing to exercise a range of skills. One of those is the capacity to argue on the basis of evidence. Just can't do it. He is extremely comfortable riffing and pontificating from a teleprompter, but developing a reasoned argument in response to a question is not something he knows how to do, and he avoids every occasion where this might be required of him. (Which is why he will NOT testify in any of the trials he is subject to, and not just because his lawyers advise against it). If he can construct what he believes reality *should* be, he will do that.
The question is: is this just the confabulation of someone who is beginning to dement? Personally I don't think so. He is clearly not the quick thinker he may have been 30 years ago, but even then he displayed many of the same traits. Those traits have simply become his "go-to" and what he knows how to do.
SO much of an individual's cognition and reasoning is really derived from their personality. The way we assess information, establish priorities in how to address a decision, decide what to ignore, or even just take the time to reason through something, emerges out of our personality traits. And in Trump's case, his highly entrenched personality traits are what is driving his approach to reasoning and decision-making. In turn, I think his cognitive undoing is the fact that money allowed him to be "a boss", and being "a boss" for so many years, not only led to him being uncomfortable in any other role, but also shaped what he doesn't know how to do anymore, because as "boss", he didn't HAVE to do it..
As for Pres. Biden, he's lost a certain mental agility. But let us remember that what we want from leaders is not their speed-of-processing or omniscience. They're not playing a videogame. We want their wisdom (which is more than simple intelligence or cunning), courage (which is more than simple bravado or impulsiveness), self-restraint (which is not just anxiousness or fear), and their perspective. Leaders at higher levels are surrounded by advisors and available experts. Seeking input, listening to them, digesting what they say, and challenging them (in order to understand more deeply) is as much a personality-based inclination as a cognitive capability. And making reasoned decisions about complex matters is something a person has to WANT to do in life.
It is far too easy to want to sum up this or that candidate as somehow dementing ro otherwise being biologically incapable of the role. Really, it's a question of personality and character.

I and most Americans don't care a whit who is more physically fit. We want to know who is more MENTALLY capable and fit, and clearly that's Trump, not Biden. But if you still want a bike race, I'll gladly bet on Trump. Biden has fallen off his bike more than once while president, and looks like he needs training wheels.

    As previously noted...
According to biographies, Fred (TFG's father), was steadily declining from dementia (and prone to rages), so they had a room dressed as 'his office', his attending nurses wore civilian clothes, and he was mollified by being able to 'work' again (frequently placing calls to long-dead business associates).
    *That's* TFG's future...and it's fast approaching.⏳

After suffering a stroke in 1969, Portuguese dictator Antonio Salazar was kept unaware that he’d been replaced until his death in 1975. They had ministers of the government visit him in his hospital room, delivered a doctored newspaper to him each day, manipulated his TV feed, and had him sign bogus documents and proclamations.

A friend of mine was concerned that he was forgetting things, or forgetting where he had put things. He asked his doctor could he have the start of dementia. His doctor said ‘forgetting where you put your keys is normal as you get old. Forgetting how to use them is dementia.’

When it gets to the point where the person forgetting the keys walks around in a circle looking for them until they forget what they were looking for and wonders blank eyed why they are wearing a coat and shoes to go outside..then you are dealing with dementia.
My mother also left the house in the middle of cooking, went out driving and what not and came home to the kitchen on fire and remembered nothing of having been cooking. ( Fortunately my dad had arrived just slightly earlier to save the house from burning down)

Forgetting where you put things is common at all ages, unless you have a specific spot where they are always kept. Then forgetting where that spot is indicates a problem. Yes, forgetting how to use your keys is a big clue.

Something is surely wrong with Trump whether his supporters want to believe it or not. Remember when he said we can put bleach in us and maybe cure COVID, he said that with a straight face and then look over at the people and said, I quote "We can do that right". He also said we can Nuke a hurricane, come on. He needs help, he does not need to run this country. Come on who wants a laugh then go watch The 7 DUMBEST Trump Statements, lol
