    One piece of advice is to trim the tubing of the floating dip tube to be just barely long enough to reach the bottom of the fermenter. My first attempt at pressure transfer resulted in the tube getting stuck on the side of the fermenter and a whole lot of frustration as I had to open the lid to get it unstuck.

    • @ElementaryBrewingCo
      @ElementaryBrewingCo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely had that happen in the past and surprisingly it was with the trimmed dip tube. I left this one long just to see if it gets stuck as well, my guess is it will eventually get stuck too 🤦🏻‍♂️ I’ve got that filter on the end which has 3 spots to hook the float up too. I’ve got it in the middle now but if I move it to the front I think it will have less chance of getting stuck. Cheers 🍻

      @timothywilliams2021 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had the same problem a few times. Just sloshing it around freed it up. But then i had to wait for everything to settle out to finish the transfer.

    • @Shbwn
      @Shbwn 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Another solution is adding the Kegland filter basket onto the dip tube with a food safe magnet inside of the basket. If the dip tube gets stuck or I want to submerge it below anything floating at the surface I place another magnet on the outside to direct the floating dip tube to where I need it. Been doing this for 2 years now works great and saves a lot of hassle when transferring.

    I have a spike conical that I bought about 4 years ago. I love the thing and it still looks fancy and shiny. I have been looking at something like the all rounder as a second fermenter. The fact that it is relatively cheap and is pressure capable are huge selling points for me.

  • @TheMattMustain
    @TheMattMustain ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Love my All Rounder. It changed everything for me too.
    I found closed transfers are easier and less messy when the keg and fermenter are at equal pressures. I set the fermenter a little higher up than the keg and let gravity help. There is a line going from my keg-in to fermenter-in. As beer from the fermenter displaces the keg CO2, the CO2 goes back into the fermenter. When the keg is full, there's no beer coming out of the spunding valve and on the floor. Cheers! 🍻

  • @Will-jd2br
    @Will-jd2br ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I use an all rounder with a blichman beer gun to bottle condition. If i add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar to each bottle, I can purge with co2 and fill from the fermenter. This might seem strange that I would bottle condition while owning kegging equipment, but i can bottle ferment and gift NE IPAs without any oxidation. I still bottle because it’s easier to bring places.
    The easiest way to clean bottles is by letting them sit in PBW overnight. The next day, i use a bottle washer connected to my sink and let them dry on a bottle tree. I can get dozens of batches with a bottle of co2 and the beer is indistinguishable from keg.

    • @ElementaryBrewingCo

    Great vid! I’m rocking two allrounders, ferment under pressure at 25-35c depending on the yeast, and pressure transfer to kegs for an O2 free experience. I usually have a Kveik yeast in one and a lager 🍺 yeast in the other. I don’t clean the fermenters between batches (unless I dry hop)- just pitch straight onto the yeast cake. Usually get 4 or 5 batches out of a packet of yeast. Start with a light colour beer and move to darker or make a DIPA with a big dry hop as the last batch and then clean and start the cycle again. Anyway, the hop bong is cool! Might have to hook one of those up. Thanks for the vid!

I usually do a full spund at the end of fermentation to get 100% carbonation, usually around 30psi, never have had yeast get mad at me for it. If I want a fermenter back (I have two of the kegs) I usually will just can directly from the fermenter keg with my beer gun, easy peasy!

    Something I've been doing allot of is keeping my transfer line in the keezer and using the PET bottles with a carb cap. Clean and sanitize my bottle, purge with CO2 by loosening and tightening the lid then hooking up my transfer line for filling the same way. Presto, I've got a beer I can take to share with friends for sampling. I love my all-rounder. I have the Williams Warn counter pressure bottle filler and have filled bottles right out of the all-rounder. Using the floating dip tube with filter on the end keeps it from clogging the poppits. I also bought the oxbar PET kegs from kegland that come with cap with liquid and gas posts. I think they are around 2 gallons. It's so easy to transfer to them. They are the cheapest kegs you can find. Replacement bottle only is like $10. Buy the starter kit that has the post set up first the an extra bottle. All rounders are so versatile and kegland makes a lot of great products that the average person can afford. Cheers to you and Happy New Year.🍻.. Beard

    I'm considering some kind of an upgrade from my buckets with a conical bottom. Would you choose the all-rounder over a SS bucket?

    • @ElementaryBrewingCo
      @ElementaryBrewingCo  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I’m not too familiar with the SS although I do have a stainless fermenter that I also use. The best things about the all rounder are price and pressure. If you can afford a pressure rated stainless fermenter that’s probably the best option as you’ll get everything. If you’d rather save some money up front the all rounder is a great choice but you’ll only get 2-5 years from it before it needs to be replaced. Cheers 🍻

    • @ElementaryBrewingCo
      @ElementaryBrewingCo  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, you can do it by weight but I don’t have a large scale. If you cold crash and get the beer nice and cold when you transfer to a keg you will see the condensation form where the level is in the keg. So that’s what I keep an eye on. Also, if I’ve got 5.5gallons in fermenter I just know when it get down to the bottom I know I’ve got half gallon of trub so it’ll fit. Cheers 🍻

    Hey there, revisiting this video. Considering getting the all rounder for pressurized lager fermentations. However, I brew 3 gallon batches and don’t have the ability to scale up (nor the desire to do so). Would you recommend this for smaller batches like 3 gallons?

    • @ElementaryBrewingCo
      @ElementaryBrewingCo  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question! I’ve only made a few smaller batches with mine and have had no issues. However, I’ve heard there can be some negative side effects to large amounts of headspace. I’m really not sure if there’s any truth to them or not as I’ve never experienced them myself but it would be something to look into. That being said there are so many positives to the all rounder that I would have to think it’s a great choice! And at the end of the day it is by far the cheapest pressure fermenter out there so I think it would be worth at least giving it a shot. I use the anvil 4 gallon bucket fermenter for my small batches now and do like it, but it is not pressure capable which is a bit of a bummer but you can still do low oxygen transfers if you use a closed loop when transferring. Cheers 🍻

    • @Eagle1846ytown
      @Eagle1846ytown 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the quick response! I also had some worries about the large amount of headspace. I use the 4.5 gallon Anvil bucket fermenter as well and do the closed loop transfers, and never really had oxidation issues. I was mostly just interested in brewing faster (and better?) lagers.

    I’ve been looking at these. I have a couple of questions: do you take gravity readings after fermentation? If so does the carbonation affect the reading? Does fermenting under pressure really make the beer finish faster?
    And btw, beard.

    • @ElementaryBrewingCo
      @ElementaryBrewingCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      So yes you will need to de gas your sample to get rid of the carbonation. You can either just let it sit out or you can just pour it back and forth from 1 cup to another and that’ll knock the carbonation out pretty quickly. I don’t really think fermenting under pressure is necessarily quicker. If you ferment warmer and use pressure then yes it will be quicker. I usually don’t ferment under pressure to start but wait until the beer is mostly finished. It really speeds up the carbonation process so once the beer is done fermenting and I get it to a keg it’s mostly ready to drink after a few days conditioning in a keg. I usually don’t quick carb and just set it at serving pressure and it’s ready to drink in a day or 2. Cheers 🍻
