Not too long ago, Avril Lavigne dropped her seventh studio album, “Love Sux”. What this album offers is a jam packed ride through twelve tracks across just a half hour of runtime. Though it may be on the shorter end of duration, it works almost perfectly.
After about a decade of pursuing different avenues, trying new sounds and styles, Avril has returned home to what many consider to be the perfect type of music for her. Pop punk and alternative rock.
Having debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart with 30,000 album-equivalent units, “Love Sux” may have not climbed the ranks of previous efforts of a similar style, but it’s no less a solid entry into Avril’s discography.

I love “Kiss Me Like The World” is ending and think this album is like a cross between “Under My Skin” and “The Best Damn Thing”

I love this album and I love all her previous albums and even though the songwriting on this album wasn't great,we know Avril Lavigne is a good songwriter.The Pop Punk genre as a whole,isn't known for its songwriting but rather,for its 'in-your-face and I don't give a damn attitude,' which Avril Lavigne pulls out really well.This was a great video,well done and keep it up.
I think this album was a breathe of fresh air. Im tired of all the deep depression lyrics nowadays. I like how this album felt so tongue in cheek and you can rlly tell it wasnt meant to be serious. Its really fast paced and upbeat

Avalanche is by far my favorite song from this album, probably one of her best songs in my opinion😍. I love it overall, anyway, it’s so cohesive and funny, her discography needed a light and enjoyable album like this, despite in my opinion Head above water is on another level💚

I actually kinda like her simplistic songwriting, it's not trying to be complex or anything, it's just simple and fun most of the time.
I'd rather songs about other themes besides love and heartbreaks. She rarely writes about a different topic.
@@GabrielPires_BR Most artists, especially the mainstream ones, do that a lot. If it's not a love song it's a breakup song or a sex song, which all feel like the same thing. So I don't see the problem with Avril in particular doing it, though I completely understand your point. Having only one topic is so repetitive that it gets boring very quick.
I just meant to say that her music is a good vibe if you feel like listening to that. If it's not your thing that's totally fine, but I respect her as an artist despite all that.

I’ve been a huge Avril fan since I was 8 (I’m 21 now) and this album is my favorite. Cannonball, Love it when you hate me, Love Sux, Kiss me, All I wanted, I’m just gonna end up listing all the songs because for me there are 0 skips

This album rock! Its just a very fun and jumpy album! My fav songs is bite me, cannonball, break of a heartache, bois lie, avalanche and maybe all!
I love this sound for her so much-Love Sux, Bite Me, Cannonball and If You Dare To Love Me are my faves off this record-but tbh, I find this album as a whole to just sound a bit too monotonous. They're all absolute jams, don't get me wrong, but I found myself barely remembering some of the songs as soon as the next one would start. If You Dare To Love Me being the only ballad on the album really made it stand out and give it a touch of vulnerability that I think the album really needed, and it's honestly my personal standout. Though this album is overall a bit meh for me, I love so much that she's making more stuff in this genre again and I'm so excited to hear more from her. ❤
i think Dare To Love Me was purposefully the only ballad but maybe we'll get more on the deluxe version, i mean Love Sux was meant to be a double-album and she clearly realised it was too much.

I love the album very much & overall. Avalanche!!! and All I wanted!!! are my favourites. But they are all so great, they are so much fun, flirty, cheeky and totally upbeat. Also, to people thinking that album doesn't fit her age, I'm 40 and jamming out to it!

deja vu is the most angry song of the album with even avril screaming the bridge plus it has the hardest beat drop of the album, and I like that it tricks you into thinking its another sad song, kinda reminds me of forgotten In under my skin (forgotten is the eight track of under my skin and deja vu is the eight of love sux.......hmmm what a coincidence)

I have always loved when songs go crazy at the last chorus and love sux gave me that and I believe it’s such a perfect album title track song ,
kiss me like the world is sis ending might not be my favorite of the album but however it is a cute song and it’s definitely not a bad one so I can see if people like it and I respect it because it’s actually not bad it’s just I can’t connect with it , avalanche is such a meaningful track about not feeling ok and life being hard and it’s really good , Deja vu is a reincarnation of Forgotten in under my skin since the 2 songs are angry and u can tell but anyways
At first déjà vu seemed to me like a pretty normal song but as the time passed I realize that it was actually one of the standout moments of the album since she sounds really really really really angry and in the bridge she’s literally screaming at you (I believe this song is about her ex billionaire Phillips sarofim since he is a billionaire and the song is about not buying her and being an asshole living in a castle and yea)
FU is perfect nothing else left to say ITS ACTUALLY PERFECT
All I want it at first I didn’t like it but eventually I connected with it and it’s OK
Dare to love me is a really good song and I’m so happy she put in the album kinda slow songs because of the album would’ve been fast songs only it would’ve been a little minus

Break of Heartache is the last song and it’s the perfect outro, it’s such a underrated song , it doesn’t have the attention it should have but I love it, I love it so much I overplayed it lol but I still love it

I definitely enjoyed the album! I think it's definitely a massive improvement from her entitled album and head above water. but I did find it somewhat repetitive though. It's definitely not a bad album by any means though. A solid 8/10 for me!
I agree, there is a lot of repetitiveness on it - but oddly enough, I enjoy it! Def an improvement from her last few records. Not that self-titled or "Head Above Water" were bad, but this album seems to be a lot more suitable for Avril, sonically and style wise.

Ok y’all might hate me for this but I don’t consider her a legend she’s iconic for sure but legendary no. I’m a huge fan of her music I grew up listening to it I found her my sand I’m great full for that. I say she isn’t a legend because honestly when was the least time she was relevant and don’t say now because of her new album but honestly when was the last time she was relevant. And I love her new album but who talked about it and it’s a pop rock masterpiece she went back to basics with this effort. Yes she’s inspired a generation of artist but when she left the limelight she was only relevant through the people she inspired when they brought her up in interviews and what not. But I’m glad that she has returned to her umbrella genre this is my third favorite album behind my first “The Best Damn Thing” and my second “My World” and this is completely off topic but “When You’re Gone” is her best song to date and y’all can fight me on that!!!

I feel like the songs would be way better if they were solo songs, even then Bois Lie would still be my least favourite tho. My least fave solo song, would have to be Deja Vu. What are your thoughts on the Avril/Mellissa conspiracy?
I loved to see Avril taking a more alternative route and doing everything herself with this record, but still keeping the things I love the most about her songs: hooks, vocals, chord progressions, style. Everything is there and I live.
Still, Love Sux isn't my favourite. I know she was taking a fun approach and I stan some of it (like, of course she would rhyme "cupid" with "stupid", Love Sux the song has the corniest/retro/pop-punk mood with a chorus starting with Na na na), but still the songwriting isn't good throughout the album and I didn't feel the songs as much as I could.
Nearly all of the songs would benefit from a rewriting session, but I feel that especially about Avalanche's chorus (the chorus is as worst and as surface level as it could be) and about Dare to Love and Love it When You Hate Me as a whole.
LIWYHM is a disaster, having a two verse structure inside of eight bars is the worst decision anyone could make, the chorus doesn't take the verses/pre-chorus anywhere (it sounds like a different song altogether) and the rap part is lame af, the worst songwriting I've ever seen.
Avril's ballads tend to be my favourites from each album, but Dare to Love Me is one of her worst. I was really expecting it to be great, but I understood why she didn't want to release it as soon as I heard it the first time lol
I don't see why critics would place Love Sux so high and Head Above Water so low (Head Above Water is a two part album with no cohesion, but even the lighter side has some of her greatest songwriting, such as Souvenir, and some of her best vocal performances, such as Goddess).

Maybe Its a Canadian thing, but isn't that a correct way to pronounce 'Avalanche'? 🤣 It's not distracting like 'Bananas' was imo.
I'm not a native english speaker, so I was really confused when I watched some north-american reviews and people were dragging Goddess in the mud because of the "Bananas" part, that's literally how we say it in Brasil and if I'm not mistaken, how people say it on the UK.
I'd argue the actual problem with Goddess is the abrupt mood and stylistic shift from verses to chorus. We go from "dark times, hard times, I didn't know who I was for a minute" to "He thinks I'm sexy in my pajamas, the more I'm a hot mess, the more he goes bAnAnaS" lol
I love Avril and I love the polished look and sound, but the lyrics left a lot to be desired and the songs were very short. Head Above Water & It Was In Me > this whole album. I was disappointed, I'm not gonna lie. That being said, I think a lot of the tracks are going to be straight fire live so I'm looking forward to her Tokyo show this November.
