Yes this happens in the original too, but he's like 2x normal size and way faster than normal, shame other races/bosses didn't change would've made collecting all 120 stars more worth it to see the game get harder. Granted it was one of the first N64 games so it's understandable, but they could've done that for the remake.

Playing on a 3ds and still suck at it :D
But only makes it easier on your thumb. If it isn't obvious, Nintendo didn't program 360 movement into this game that could only be used on a console that wouldn't be released until 7 years later and I highly doubt was in development during said game's release, so you can still only move in 8 directions if you're using the 3DS's Circle Pad.
the controls are actually better than the N64 version. the N64 controls are good, but turning on a dime is inconsistent and the movement feels pretty loose. plus, the camera is hot garbage. the DS version has a better camera and controls that take longer getting used to but overall feel a bit better so you can move slowly without the button or fast with it, and the d-pad makes things feel a bit more refined

Playing through Super Mario Odyssey makes me wish Nintendo remake Super Mario 64 on either the 3DS or Switch.

THAT WAS OVER 13 YEARS AGO! Sorry, but honestly it annoys me to no end that people think that Mario 64 DS is the REMAKE for Mario 64. Look, I love it. But honestly, Nintendo should just port Mario 64 DS to the Switch, and give it a nice graphical upgrade (maybe do something like what Square did? IDK, that or remake Mario 64 DS.)
It's not irrelevant or pointless for the Switch. There are plenty of youngsters who haven't played Mario 64 out there, and a Mario 64 remake would sell Switches like hotcakes.... not to mention most people won't bother to get a DS to play Mario 64 DS....

They've never remade Mario 64 properly. OK the DS remake was good. But realistically, they haven't remade the interior of Peach's Castle properly.
I think it's in it's prime still. The DS remake was solid, I think if anything should be remade it should be the DS remake for the Switch.
Mario 64 doesn't feel outdated to me. At least DS doesn't.
Oh and they only remade Peach's Castle twice. Once in DS and once in Odyssey (though it didn't really include all of the 64 levels sadly.)
I think remakes can breath new life into old games. Sure you may say they are pointless, and that some might think they are bad. But I think they can fix issues that old games had to begin with, they can improve upon them, and expand upon them.
An Ocarina of Time remake for example, I would fix the camera (I prefer a 3D camera like Wind Waker or Twilight Princess.), I'd maybe include a few more dungeons for Adult Link, and somehow put in a few more sidequests (if possible.) I don't know, something like that.
A Mario 64 remake would be good, and I'm sure if you explain to people that you don't throw your cap, they'd understand.
I'm not depressed, but I can tell you that my passion for remakes comes from genuine care and love for old games. I don't think the youth should be subjected to early polygonal graphics just to play a game because there's no "remakes allowed".
We already have Mario 64 DS, OOT3D.... would it really hurt to port them to the Switch and give them a few graphical upgrades?

I wish that was only for download play, if everyone had the cartridge we should be able to make the matches longer.
While other objectives would've been nice, it's the 30 second time limit that annoys me as back in middle school we'd make up our own rules on what to do (like don't collect the caps, play tag where the person with the cap is it, punch each other especially since Wario can grab you and swing you around as if you were Bowser, etc) but the 30 seconds was always too short.

i like playing as wario when i want to challenge myself, ive become quite adapted to his mechanics and i've learned a lot of surprising things he can break (rolling black balls on bob omb battlefield/tall tall mountain, he can even kill tox boxes in shifting sand land by attacking them from the inside)
is he as good as the other characters? probably not, but he definitely presents a different way of playing

yeah but when you use the circle pad, the turns and stuff react slower. the only thing I've found the circle pad useful for is throwing bowser.

Using a circle pad doesn’t magically reprogram the game. In fact it feels more awkward since although it feels like 360, it’s still 8 measly directions.
Well I have the game on my 3ds xl and the controls are..well better it kinda reminds me of super mario 3D land but with more freedom

4:11 I got it with just the vanish cap when I was trying to do the red coin mission. I kept falling into the water (or something like that) in 3d all-stars as opposed to being able to get all 8 red coins, so I used just the vanish cap to get the star. it's actually easier with just the vanish cap than it is with both vanish and metal.
5:13 as a kid, I was convinced there would be some cool secret outside that window. I tried over and over again as Luigi to make it down there with an invisibility flower from the mirror room to no avail

You can usually see through the card in the "psychic" minigame. I have a crazy high score in that, to the point where I got bored and purposefully lost so it'd end because it's not luck based.

Ok, so this was one of the first games i ever played, and it took years for me to find the second snow area in the third section of the game, that triggered the hell out of me, and if you know what im talking about, you probably also understand my pain
I think you have to use Mario for the final Bowser because he's the only one who can obtain a wing cap for the ending cutscene. I think Luigi would still get one normally since he can wear one using a hat, but it doesn't really make sense for Luigi to just become Wing Luigi like that.

I just got this game again the other day. I haven't played it since I was seven. Since my old DSi still works, it really enhances the nostalgia. It's still a great game.

Why do you keep on saying when you get a star you should stay in the world not go back to peach's castle but you realise that depending on which star you choose the course is changed a bit like if you choose the first star in bobomb battlefield king bobomb id on the top of the mountain but if you choose the koopa the quick star there's a flag pole.

Yeoryios Well let’s look at Odyssey for an example, when you collect an important star, you usually stay in the same place, but something changes (Like the Moon pillar at beginning of Cascade Kingdom) So it definitely could work
