    Funny how all games on Alienware were screen captured while on the Asus were filmed. I mean, it's a striking recording quality difference right there, which although doesn't mean much for the folks who realize the Asus game play is recorded on camera, it still leaves the feeling of poor quality and puts the screen captured Alienware in an fake advantage position.
    Is this thing done intentionally? (I assume not, cause even if it was, who would admit it). If not, what stopped you to use the same technology to record gameplay footage the same from both laptops?

    the Asus is $300 off at microcenter right now, in store only. I just got mine a couple weeks ago and it keeps up with my friends GTX 980ti desktop build! absolutely love this machine, games like a beast!

    • @LSSRoshi
      @LSSRoshi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mohamad Mroue Which store? I see $1,699 for the gl502vs online, so I'm curious to see if it shows up at $1,399 anywhere online or in store.

    • @KnightSkyentist
      @KnightSkyentist 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      LSSRoshi I can only personally attest to the Madison Heights, Michigan Microcenter store but when you go in they have a flyer over it regarding the sale. it's not online or in any of their ads which I thought was odd too. I'd call ahead before making the trip to verify

    • @LSSRoshi
      @LSSRoshi 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mohamad Mroue Lucky.. so you got a GTX 1070 laptop for under 1400, congrats. lol My only option is somehow ordering it and having it shipped from that location to me if that's even possible.

    • @KnightSkyentist
      @KnightSkyentist 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LSSRoshi where are you located? perhaps I can send you a photo of the flyer and you can use it to try and get a price match at a more local retailer?

      Mohamad Mroue South Florida, that might actually work. That would be sick if you can upload an image or link it. I think I just have to avoid showing them that it's in Michigan if I go to Best Buy. haha

    I'm a little surprised you didn't cover one major and obvious differences between the keyboards: The Asus includes a numeric keypad, while the Alienware does not. For those of us who will use the laptop for design/photo/video editing work (since a gaming laptop is a very capable workstation for these tasks), having access to that numeric keypad is a huge plus. Additionally, if you're a lefty keyboard/mouse gamer (mouse on the left hand), the numeric keypad becomes this huge expanse of programmable keys that can put the silly WASD setup righties use to shame.
    On the negative side, Asus did away with the End key and included a mostly pointless ROG key which is not the easiest thing to remap to something useful (like...an End key?). The location of the power button on the Asus (as an integral part of the keyboard, in the upper right corner) also leaves a lot to be desired. Having said that, in nearly a month of use, I have yet to turn the laptop off by mistake, so maybe I'm complaining too much.

    I am so sorry, I dont mean to offend, Asus ROG looks realllyy cheap. I don't know maybe this is just on videos? It really looks plasticy. But its powerful though and a very good price than Alienware.

      It's lighter, and I personally like the looks but it is made of mostly plastic outside of the brushed aluminum on top of the lid. I actually had the Asus but now i have and AW 15 R3. That being said I don't think you can go wrong with either but you will pay more for a better build on the AW but it is also heavier. For me I wanted the 120hz screen with the Alienware and it doesn't disappoint.

      I own this exact Asus laptop and it serves as my main gaming computer now. I've had it for about 4 months now and I haven't had a single issue. Asus has always been a staple for quality in the PC world, perhaps not the best. The alienware laptop here does look a lot better in my opinion but they've kinda become a joke in the gaming laptop world now, people seem to have a lot of issues. I've owned 3 ASUS laptops and 2 MSI laptops and almost zero problems with either, the guy above you probably doesn't know anything about computers and blames the company for user errors.

      You dont know what many other people are experiencing. Most games suffer very bad hitching due to faulty HDDs. Many of us who already purchased these laptops (I have the G752VY) are stuck with it. The only solution is to move games to the SSD. However, big title games like Star wars bf, bf4, etc do not suffer the stuttering, everything else does though. fyi ive been building pcs since the 90s and have owned many laptops, son. I do know what im talking about. Travel, and get some experience, there is only so much we can learn from the internet.

    @MobileTechReview Great review, thank you! My only criticism is that you frequently mumble when you talk quickly, it had me having to go back over many sections of the video. As a bit of a novice, I thought it might have been helpful for me if you were able to add the PRO's and CON's for each laptop onto the video (over the relevant laptop), not because I didn't understand them, but so as to help me better weight up the total pro's and con's for each laptop against one another without having to remember them from various points throughout the video. Sorry if this is inappropriate, I just wanted to let you know what I thought would have made what was, for me, an already great review into a fantastic one! Keep it up, and thanks again for the help!

      You want a laptop with a GPU for rendering, but you also want a nice screen. Based on that info I think any 'gaming' laptop with a 4k, with a decent color rating should do the trick.

    I love the sleek look on the strix gl 502/ 702 series, I personally own the gl702 which is the 17.3 inch twin brother of the gl502 and it looks fantastic the aluminium brush top is awesome and it might look plasticy but it doesnt feel that way at all it also has a brush look, this laptop would look fantastic without the WASD colors and orange accent it would look like your regular ultrabook. I wish one day companies listen to gamers and take all that childish colors off their models already, as an adult who likes high end gadgets just an all black gaming laptop would be great

    Ah!!! I've been waiting for this!!! ;-)
    Without watching, here is my guess...
    The Asus is a best buy powerhouse, with about the only lack being a Thunderbolt port.
    That said, the 1070 based Alienware without GSync affords amazing 6+ hour battery life on integrated graphics, affording it a best of both worlds power rating as well as an amazingly long life general purpose on the go machine giving it the edge in all-around functional performance.
    Now let's go see what the review says! ;-)
    ...But... the Dell extended warranty cost, as well as their utterly obtuse sales and customer service is absurd, rendering an informed purchasing experience a nightmare.
    Lisa, it would be of great practical benefit to evaluate the value of each of the additional features offered by dealers such as Xotic and GenTech, as well as the various warranty (vendor and 3rd party) options available!
    And, as always, THANK YOU!!! for the most comprehensive product reviews available!!!

    Hi Lisa, love your reviews. Would it be possible to make a review of the New Gigabyte Aero 14, maybe compare it with the 14 razer or the MSI 14. I will be buying a new gaming laptop in about a month or so and I always come to your reviews before I buy. Thank you.

      but unless you've used both, and know the circumstances that someone needs it for than how can you objectively say that. I personally like to have good battery life on a laptop. aleinware 15 withh 99watt battery is one of the few gaming laptops with good battery. the asus is still great, it just lacks that battery

    • @Burnerxxl
      @Burnerxxl 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      legendp2011 I agree but i prefer g-sync over battery,yes i have tryed both and i still prefer Asus becouse if i'm buying gaming laptop i don't expect it to have great battery life.. I use Autocad/ArchiCad and it lasts me 3-4h so its more then inaf..If i render or game i'll plug in the charger.. So problem solved for me.

    I wish actual trackpad buttons were still the norm. I like to play some older games and with buttons it's doable... With the button-less track pads a mouse becomes necessary.
    Therefore the Alienware gets my vote. It looks a lot better too.

    I initially had the XPS 15 for doing double duty college+gaming but I decided to return it and get the AW since both units I received had problems.
    I don't have the laptop yet, but I feel like it was the right choice for me. I don't mind the doubled weight too much, and I'm getting nearly twice the GPU power but actually paying less thanks to the 10% back gift cards.

      Maaz Altaf be careful getting the razer blade or any thin gaming laptop. Gaming laptops are not meant to be super thin, the fans won't be able to control the heat the graphics cards generate, which means the fans will scream throughout the entire room.

      I bought the G752VY about 5 months ago and it has given me endless hardware and software problems, most of them unsolvable, the biggest issue is the constant lag, stuttering when playing any game. This issue is currently unsolvable. The only tech support comes in the form of user forums, which are of minimal help. As of now my laptop is at an asus service center awaiting a screen and keyboard replacement. (I have never moved the laptop from its place since i bought it. It has been treated very well.
      This is the worst laptop/pc i have ever owned/built since the 1990s. Stay away from asus. Buy anything else.
      Just look at the ROG forums, there are so many problems and no solutions -

    I had purchased the Asus the day it launched from Newegg. As soon as I would start gaming on it, no matter the game, it would immediately shoot up to 91c. Such a shame. Everyone else reporting high 70s and I had low 90s. Sadly I had to send it back to Newegg.
