Tom can't die, he'll regenerate and continue walking in the woods somewhere with his dog and his Burmese cat. And anyway he'll live on forever in the imaginations of his fans, fans yet unborn who will one day learn of the strange traveler with the extraordinary scarf....
The fact that Ian Marter's name is not on the cover of this book along with Tom's is a complete insult to his memory. Tom and Ian co-wrote the original screenplay together between takes when filiming _Doctor Who_ . Marter himself was an excellent writer who wrote several of the _Doctor Who_ Target novels and likely left quite an impression on the original script as well. I know Tom Baker has a huge ego, but snubbing his old friend like this is not cool.

@@davidbarry9690 well he is the longest running doctor, so he probably lost that intrest and needed a break from it lol but you can see that he still loved playing that role and he loved the show just as much as he does with his fans :)

Audible has a narrated version read by THE Tom Baker himself. I could listen to that man for hours (8 hours and 40 minutes, to be precise). Do yourself a favour and pick it up now

I'd pay the audible credit to listen to him narrate *any* story, but to hear Mr. Baker narrate his own Dr. Who story? Heck yeah, I'm in.

I remember what a splendid reader Tom was on The Book Tower tv series.

He's so amazing. Seriously, he's full of life and you can still feel his presence.
Even Tom's voice doesn't seem to change much as he's gotten older. If you just hear his voice without seeing his face, it could easily be him from his years on Doctor Who during the 70s and early 80s.

I love how he stills feels like he is the Doctor. He is like "the Daleks, I beat them, but they never learn". Is awesome because for me he is the most Doctor, if I can use that expression.
Thing is he never really did beat them all the time.In the two stories he did with Daleks, he had the chance to wipe them out in Genesis but choose not to in that famous scene with the wires.
He had more success in Destiny of the Daleks as he played two robotic armies against each other and outsmarted them all.
He's a wonderful man is Tom and a real favourite of mine. Glad he's still going strong.

In a way he did! He recorded an automated system for a phone company! A cheeky sod arranged the words to get Tom singing "I can't get no satisfaction"! Look it up!

The great things about Tom is that he is just naturally funny and of course fully three dimensional, in no way flat. Elizabeth Sladen did leave a little too soon, yet her ending, while utterly heartbreaking, is perfection.

As a non doctor fan (never watched anything related to doctor who) tom seems like a genuine man and knows how to laugh even at himself! Lol definitely peaked my interest in the older seasons.

I met Tom back at a convention, in Barking (a place in London), back in 2012 - I met Paul Darrow the same day, but that's a different subject... He signed The Android Invasion for me (DVD version). I truly wanted that signed because it was the first Doctor Who story my family had on video, back in the day, and I thought it would be a tribute to all the years of collecting videos and DVDs... Tom is great to talk to... I never asked him for acting advice, but I did ask him something (can't remember what) but it was what he said, that I took as acting advice, and... my god, it has improved my acting :)
I'm really looking forward to reading Scratchman!

Tom Baker became ‘the doctor’ in the year of my birth. His mischievous grin mesmerised me as a child, and he remains that wondrous wonderful wonder.

The real age defying trick is keeping the voice - Tom hasn't aged at all there, there are many younger actors who sound so different now!

Thank you for entertaining me every Sunday and every day of my life and make me travel in places and times I never thought were possible to see in humans television so for a last time, Thank you Doctor Who for everything:)

One afternoon in 1980 while babysitting my youngest niece, we were channel surfing looking for something she might enjoy... and ended up on PBS where part 2 of the the Doctor Who story "The Androids of Tara" was airing. That was my introduction to the show and to Tom Baker, the Doctor who charmed me into becoming a fan. He's still a favorite of mine. :)

Tom Baker has an awesome voice, even at his age. His voice has not aged at all. Will always thank Tom for bringing us some of the best Doctor Who stories ever, on TV, audio and now in book form.

I just got my book AND audio book. To hear his voice while I read was not good enough I wanted to REALLY hear his voice. I love him so much!!!
