      I strongly disagree that the 13th Doctor’s is the worst. I feel like most people would flag the design just based on the 13th Doctor’s controversial era. My personal favorites are the 12th Doctor’s and the 8th Doctor’s (TV movie).

    Ehhh... I've gotta respectfully disagree with the placement of the 12th Doctor's TARDIS interior - it had everything: the modernity of 11's second TARDIS interior; the antiquity of past interiors through bookshelves, chalkboards and later on the roundels; it felt both like an alien spaceship and comfy & inviting at the same time due to the warm colour scheme; the three-piece time rotor was simply amazing; the interior was multi-levelled and presented itself as a complex control room; the control panel itself was fascinating and felt like a natural evolution of the 7b one.
    I think it's genuinely the best TARDIS interior of all time, and I'm certain I'm not alone in thinking that. But hey, this is your list - you do you!

    I have always really liked the 4th Doctor's Secondary Console Room. Sure, the lighting was dim and I can understand why it's not for everyone. But mahogany and stained glass is exactly the vibe for me. If I'm going to fantasize about traveling in time I want the setting to feel romantic and historical. I would have put the TV Movie TARDIS first though.

    I love all of the classic doctors tardis interiors, they're just so iconic! The eleventh and twelfth doctors tardis interiors were probably the most practical in that they were big enough and had enough doorways and corridors to make it look as though the tardis was truly bigger on the inside and had other rooms in it. But the ninth and tenth doctors tardis interior is my favourite! It was my first tardis interior and I remember seeing it for the first time and just thinking how beautiful it was! I got to see it at the doctor who exhibition years ago and walking on that iconic tardis grating just felt really special! It had it's faults, but the russell t davies original era tardis is my favourite! 😊😊

  • @peterratter6603

    Initially, I hated the Himalayan salt lamp aesthetic of the 13's TARDIS (WTF was with those weird spider-leg columns?!?) but it grew on me. She was beautiful in Niolai Tesla's Night of Terror. The walls seemed an evolution from the roundels, and I liked the external shell being effectively an entrance porch. The 'reset' effects during Eve of the Daleks were gorgeous, and though slightly outside the remit of this video, 13 had the prettiest Time Vortex.
    That aside, 8's TARDIS may be my favourite. In various media, the TARDIS has been described as 'cathedral sized'; this was the first and only iteration on screen that really ran with that concept.

    • @Jackson-ub1uv
      @Jackson-ub1uv 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Interesting. I'd certainly swap the 2012-2013 TARDIS with the Capaldi upgrade in my rankings. The Capaldi upgrade gave a reason for the upper platform to exist that hadn't been the case since 2005. I think the TV Movie TARDIS interior is my favourite. And I'd probably rank the Davison to McCoy TARDIS as my least favourite.

    I adored Elevens first Tardis, and Eights too. I hadn't liked Thirteens Tardis which I'd found weird given the warm glow but you hit the nail on the head, it was quite busy and chaotic when filming with so many characters. The Fifth Doctor had quite a lot of characters together in his, but it was quite plain in colour and design so overall less chaotic with lots of people in scenes. Twelves Tardis was superbly dramatic but not a favourite for me. Wonderful video, thank you ❤

    • @peterratter6603
      @peterratter6603 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      YES!
      I sometimes feel the TARDIS gets sidetracked, but she's proven herself as much a character, and companion, as anyone else. Long before Neil Gaiman's inimitable The Doctor's Wife, I had thoughts about the 'Bad Wolf.' I've read alternate views, but my head-canon goes with my first viewing: in my head, Rose is not the Bad Wolf, she is a conduit for it. The TARDIS herself is the Bad Wolf (yeah, Rose 'opens' the heart of the TARDIS, but listen to the choir as she hurtles forwards in time; if that's not a choral reproduction of the 'vworp', I don't know what is).
      "To protect you. My Doctor."
      I always thought/assumed that was the TARDIS talking through Rose, rather than Rose herself.
      Many Christmases ago, I opened a tiny 7th Doctor, a tiny Mel, a tiny Tetrap, a tiny K-9 (Dapol, where was your timelining?!?), a tiny Dalek, and a TARDIS.
      While she could open out to a set, I never had the console. She made no noise, but her lamp blinked blue.
      Of all those wonderful toys, my TARDIS was the one I played with, as I imagined her spinning through time and space, dreaming of where she would materialise next.

    The Movie interior was the first I ever saw, so it'll always be a firm favorite of mine. I also loved the War Master's, Jaxa's and The Clocksmith's tardis interiors from Big Finish. In the series though, Eleventh Doctor's first interior, Thirteen's interior, all were amazing. Also honorable mention for the Spy Master's weird house interior because it was I believe the first time the interior was altered along with the exterior of a tardis.

As somebody who loves the Steampunk aesthetic it really speaks to me. I would love to see it get used again, as it really ties into the idiosyncratic and dare I use the word 'timeless' (in this case I mean that The Doctor's style has always had a vintage flair that still fitted in with the sensibilities of the particular era) style of The Doctor.

    I personally put Capaldis TARDIS over Matts Second one, simply because it looks a lot more lived in. Like, Matts second TARDIS looks brand new and out of the box, whilst Capaldis has personality and charm, looking exactly like the Doctor would want it. After all, you can have a thousand thousand rooms, but if I had to spend 20 minutes walking to get to the bookshelf, I'd want it moved. Honestly though, I think I'd put Matts first TARDIS over his second, possibly even over Capaldis. It just looks so warm and welcoming, compared to the colder steel aesthetic of the other two.

    Nobody ever mentions that in the Time Monster, the roundels had a translucent centre that meant it was possible to discern objects outside. Trees are clearly visible.
    This added to the "alienness" of the machine in the same way as when the roundels all lit up when lightning struck outside in "The Daleks". It's probably why it was never used again.
    Also, people who call it the "washing up bowl" set have obviously never used a washing up bowl.

    Fun fact: the 7b/8,9,10 interior gallifreyan on the spinning dials actually spell out every single one of the Doctor’s companions, even including those such as Wilf Mott, River Song, Capt Jack and MIckey Smith.

    I think there is a reveal coming. There is so much media focus on the TARDIS all of a sudden. All of the BBC Newsreels are about the history of the Tardis, First time seeing the interior, etc. It is a little more than three months away. BBC has to give us something more to get excited about! Totally hoping for some kind of big white, throwback looking console room. Lots of switches and leavers, and of course... the round things!

    I wish that the 3-tier time rotor had been retained and made a permanent fixture in all TARDISes. I believe that the symbols on the rotors are the names of all the Doctor's companions in Gallifreyan. I think it would be a wonderful thing for the companions to be honored in that way.

    I always will love the original design, and so when elements of it pop up now and again, it fills me with joy (which is kind of silly, since I wasn't even born yet when the series aired). However, it just works...and there were even devices for water and food, often used on screen. My second choice any Tom Baker era :)
    Part of me is sad that the scanner is delegated to a tiny thing instead of part of a wall, nice and big for everyone to see. It would be nice to see return.
    Capaldi's era was really nice though, those spinning segments were beautiful.

    Thirteen's Tardis is number one for me. I cannot help myself but I just love that interior and design. It makes me sad, that most of people put her so down, include the 13th Doctor. She definitely deserve a much more love (and her Tardis too of course). She may not have had the best scripts (which wasn't her fault) but she definitely put her whole heart into it.

    • @Croftice1
      @Croftice1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      "My beautiful Ghost Monument" ♥ What's not to love about it? Thirteenth made her own Sonic from Sheffield steel (spoons) and confiscated Stenza technology and the TARDIS grew her own Stenza crystals for her. That's a serious display of loyalty. Ranking it that low is almost a crime.

      Her script _is_ the thirteenth Doctor, the character isn't separate from the narrative, and her character is garbage. Jodie Whitaker doesn't deserve any hate for the travesty of her seasons, but the character absolutely does.

      @y_fam_goeglyd ปีที่แล้ว

      I quite liked it. Okay, I'm entitled to an opinion. But every design is supposed to reflect the Doctor's character, and that worked. The custard cream dispenser was such a lovely, "welcome gift" to Jodie, that I thought it a perfect addition. She was, as they said, the crazy aunty type of Doctor, and crazy aunties (of which I am proud to be one. And crazy gran, mum, wife... Okay, I will leave it at aunty) always have certain things - food things - they can give as a welcome , a "cheer up!", a sign of love. I remember certain foodstuffs I would look forward to at my fave aunties' homes!
      I don't really dislike any Tardis's décor. They're all individual designs. Sure, some are more visually impressive than others, but they are all tied to the Doctors, so how can they be bad?

    My favourite console room is the secondary console room with the wood and brass. I just think it needed a rotor and some contrast on the walls. After that, it's any of the reasonably sized white rooms with the round things. It's only after all those that I might get into trying to rank the overly designed rooms from the modern era. But I'd probably agree with Jodie's being at the bottom - what are being called crystals here always looked like weird glowing bug legs to me.

    • @LeFouGallois
      @LeFouGallois 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When I first saw the title of the video, my mind went straight to the 4th Doctor's secondary control room.
