Note: If Zero goes up to the Light Capsule in Commander Yammark's stage to collect the Armor Part for X, it is revealed that neither Zero nor the Dr. Light hologram know who rebuilt Zero after X5.
Eh Lackluster weapons Collectibles shoved into a shop so you dont find them anymore Boring enemy gauntlets Definitely not bad though but theres still these and the gimmick stages
About what you said earlier in the video, no, I disagree, part of what makes X6 so interesting and engaging is the storyline. I definitely think X4's storyline is a WHOLE lot better don't get me wrong, but I love the mysterious atmosphere of the story, as you go through the stages and into cutscenes, you uncover more about the nightmare and it's effects and origins along with the mastermind behind it. Honestly, the game itself for me is extremely fun to play, the onky thing I really just HATE about this game is the "darkness effect" and the Gate stages being unplayable without certain parts equipped.
What I enjoy most when I replay this game, is constantly increasing the difficulty. This game's already very punishing, but it's so rewarding to beat the game without armor, or reploid abilities or heart tanks or boss abilities. I find the great challenge so tempting to see if I got the skill for it. PS Blaze Heatnix's level is very hard without any upgrades or weapons.
To be honest, X6 isn't bad... ....at ALL. Quite a few people I've seen that thinks X6 is bad also seem to enjoy it, probably because they're afraid they'll get bashed on for having a higher opinion on the game. Personally, X6 still has (and excuse me for bringing up some regional game design tropes) the design feel of a Japanese game, mainly one from the 90s, which is good, because a lot of Japanese games tend to be so much better designed than that of American and European designed games of that time. What I mean by this is that X6's levels still feel more fair and less cheap than MANY western games, especially those of the 90s (Robocop vs The Terminator, Shadow of the Beast, Zool, etc) and I know a LOT of people that likes those games, but some of those people still "hate" X6, which just sounds plain hypocritical, lol. At least X6's stages don't drag with nothing interesting going on (besides Blaze Heatnix's stage). But enough of this comparison crap. If you came here for a legitimate analysis on X6 and its stages, this is the part to look for. Many people seem to target mainly Blaze Heatnix and Gate's stages for how "bad" X6 is while leaving the rest off to subjectivity. Some people either like the other stages, some hate them with their reasons, and some just hate them to follow with the rest of the hate with X6. I sit firmly in the boat about liking the stages. Commander Yammark's stage isn't that bad really. The enemies are tamely placed (heck, I'd argue a little too tame in areas) and the stage ends right before things get too hectic. Yeah yeah, there's the blind jump, but it's not that hard to nail the position. One of the enemies is cue to its position too. Overall, a great stage. Rainy Turtloid is easily my favorite stage. Encourages you to go fast and has a lot of interesting stuff with the rain gimmick that was more than nicely introduced. Unlike popular belief, you need the Blade Armor to pass the spikes, though it's possible unarmored. Those saying it's bad that the latter is possible would mean saying stuff like getting the Heart Tank in Wheel Gator's stage w/o equipment is bad. Shield Sheldon is a simple puzzle stage with enemies. If a puzzle was what they were going for, why complain? For those saying the stage is short, I'm kinda glad it went that way because if it went longer, it would become tedious dealing with the same gimmick over and over, and that's what the alt path is for anyways, for those desiring for more. Blizzard Wolfang is one of the more liked stages of X6, and I can see why, but to be honest, as someone who sees X6 in a more positive light, I don't think Wolfang's stage should be praised *that* much. It's still a _cool_ stage, don't get me wrong, but it still has some minor flaws, like the avalanche and the luck based block sections. Overall good though. MSP's stage is another stage of high praise and it deserves all of it. It's almost as good as Rainy Turtloid's imo. The only issue is that it may go on for a little too long; the stage tries its best to add variety, but you can see at the very last bits of level it loses all of its steam. Infinity Mijinion's stage is an odd one to say the least. The gimmick is frustrating at first, but gets very easy with practice. In fact, the stage as a whole is quite short easy if you know what you're doing. I guess that's why they never gave a stage checkpoint? Good stage, but only good. Ground Scaravich... bleh. I actually consider THIS the worst stage maverick stage. The stage adds randomness as its gimmick, but it doesn't work well and can lead to several scenarios of unavoidable hits and deaths. Overall, not a very good stage... Blaze Heatnix... it's... meh. It has an interesting concept (a concept Optic Sunflower's stage would eventually improve upon) but the minibosses have too much HP. In fact, I actually think they were meant to receive the same damages the U-555 minibosses in X5 would get (10 per charge shot as opposed to 4). It would definitely drag the fights a lot less. There are at least some good platforming in the stage too whenever it begins to present itself (like after beating the first snake). Gate 1, past the spike "test", is actually not that bad of a stage. You definitely have to take your time on the first bit though. The second half is a little on the slow side, but not too bad. Gate 2, however, IS the worst stage, without doubt. No reasons needed. Gate 3 is never talked about because it's a refight stage. Nuff said. Oh, and regarding nightmare effects, yes, there are some I hate, but you can manipulate them easily. It's not that hard either. Choose a stage corresponding to the effect and done. Well that was long... but I've also heard some criticisms of X6's story. I get the main criticism that it's offensive to the series due to how X5 intended to be the end of the series, but, as someone who thinks X5 was the best in the series, I'm... quite glad it continued. First, let's go over the additional story content. X5 didn't seem to give any of the introduced supporting characters any character and were forgettable at best. X6 solved this for Alia with the story of Alia and Gate. I guess you can say this was part of her redemption arc after her annoyingness in X5 (before X7 just butchered it with everything bad that game offered, her annoying voice being one of many). Not only that, but the story actually gets expanded throughout the game with Alia's boss messages (which is sadly ignored because many people mash through her text there). It's referred a lot throughout the cutscenes as well, and I still wonder why it's ignored. On to the main story, many people seem to dislike Zero and Sigma's revival, but, people seem to be ignoring prior aspects that even hint toward these moments, almost like they're taking those moments out of context, like Nightmare Zero "finding" Zero, Gate's newest creations, etc. That or it's the aforementioned "offensive to the series" criticism, which again, is understandable, but at least X6 tried to resolve all about that with the endings. Either way, the story isn't *that* bad. I'd actually consider X4's X story to be worse, but that's another story for later. I get the people that dislike X6 with legitimate reasons, and I can respect those people. What I can't respect are people who relentlessly attack others for liking X6, forcing them to admit the game is "bad" before forming their opinion. Oh geez I typed too much.... either way.... tl;dr X6 just isn't that "bad".
never beat X6 games, so i can't tell is it good (enough) or (that) bad, or.. both (?) i'll come to this comment later when i beat the game, but it takes some time, i'm not a pro. lol
i almost forgot i put that comment up there. lol so, i beat the game with 100% completion, aand if i got help from walkthrough considered as cheating, you can say that, i don't mind. BUT, even with the walkthrough. x6 is barely beaten, it's so ridiculously hard, frustrating-level sometimes. especially when i fought the giant donnut thing. FROM THE START of the level, geez.... almost give up. but it's a fun games, the difficulties can be both fun and sucks. i can really feel this game is somehow rushed, very rushed. capcom can do better than this, i believe. but yeah... i enjoyed it. still, my fav mmx game from psx is mmx4. nothing changed. haha
In my opinion, X7 is worse than X6 because of how slow paced it was and how ugly the direction of the game is. Sure, in my opinion, X6 is still bad, but you can beat the game fairly quickly
X6 has bad stage design and terrible new mechanics but also has inherently tight gameplay. X7 is worse IMHO, because it commits the cardinal game design sin of often just being dull
X6 is far worse than X7 because X7 is far less unfair than X6 is. X7 tried to be something different, and while different doesn't always mean good, it's execution was better than X6. X7 has some missteps and I cannot deny that, but when X6 having the fluid and responsive controls as X4 and X5 and the game still comes off as unfair due to the poor design of the stages, the Nightmare areas, Gate and High Max being absolutely terrible bosses....you know you messed up. X7 is better than X6 objectively and I can make that argument because I have grounds to do so, though it would be pointless because I would be arguing the best of the worst. Just because X7 is dull does not mean it's worse than X6. I would rather take dull than unfair.
@@simpletonapollo9723 Uh I hate to break it to you but X7 is objectively worse than X6 X6 is waaay better of a game than X7. let's not forget X7 is filled to the brim with glitches game breaking glitches such as X and Zero's defense not being correct sometimes, collisions being wrong sometimes you can die or get hurt from just touching a wall, targeting issues with the often chaotic 3D landscape and more. Mega Man X was not built to be a 3D game and it shows oh and Zero's gameplay and handling is not very good here either in addition to the slowness. say what you will about X6 you can hate it if you want but atleast X6 is a more polished game that actually functions correctly
"Also, NEVER try playing through these stages as Base X!" Me just casually playing through the final stage and beating it without dying as Base X: (I used Shock Absorber though so I think it helped)
Something that gets overlooked about X6 is how unnerving and downright creepy it can be. The post-apocalypse setting combined with jagged, dated effects (like those demon statues in the last level) and poor res parallax makes the game feel off. The music ranges from chilling to manic to forlorn, and you're never quite sure where it's going to go. The mavericks have either gone insane or are driven by their loyalty to Gate: the only one treated them kindly before the world ended. The game's like a nightmare you can't 100 percent piece together.
Seeing the emphasis on nightmare enemies and the nightmare system in the game, I think that vibe definitely makes sense! If it lacked Sigma and had a decent translation, perhaps X6 would have a pretty decent story!
1. The Second best OST of the series (only behind X1); 1.2 The best intro music and animation; 2. The best Boss designs; 3. The best sprites and playability of x and zero (especially when you Go Berserk and Slash dozens of enemies with the lighthening fast zero's saber and parts equipped, that is delightful); 4. The visually best armor designs; 5. Very good graphics; 6. The most challenging levels of the series, with innovating and creative ideas and mechanics with High difficulties, what makes them unboring and extends replay factor (yes, I know the game has level design flaws that are bullshit); 7. The vast part system that allows Multiple combinations. These factors make me love Megaman x6, despite its flaws. It is my favourite of the series. To make a comparison, X4 is cool, but Its levels seem to be a walk in the park. Although it "doesn’t have major problems", X4 is tedious from the Second time you play because it’s level designs are easy, simple and Boring, i miss the X6 level of challenge there.
I agree in some points, but I like X4 because I think it's a solid game, solid challenge and bosses If you like X6, that is fine, but I just like X6 OST, which is my 3rd favorite of the series, and the Parts System, but the rest of the game, it's a hell on earth to me. On my second playthrough, I played Blaze Heatnix stage, with no armor X on Xtreme, and I spent 1 hour and 30 minutes there, thanks to the 4 or 5 donuts boss battles
@@ayrtonjoga I tottaly understand you. i think x6 has some elements of a RPG game, when you think that some areas are Impossible or close to Impossible to beat without armors or certains parts. But If you could, for an example, beat the donuts stage easily with no armor x, the game would become too easy when you get the armors and parts.
@@ayrtonjoga why would you be playing Blaze heatnix stage with X without armor on? Lol that is a suicide wish even in games that are not X6 playing as armorless X can be hard as balls and his defense I find recently is horrible he takes extra damage from attacks and seems to suffer from a lot of knockback too. I sometimes play as him as I like how he looks in his base form but you should be mostly using armors man especially in X6 which is sometimes at its base difficulty harder than the previous X games more challenging. The Nightmare snakes those big round robots on heatnix stage I find it easier to dispatch them using giga attack on them it almost instanly destroys them. it is harder to pull off as X in his most likely Falcon armor depending on when you do the stage. And as Zero his giga attack kills them instantly most of the time. But of course this is speaking from mostly the perspective of the base difficulty never bothered with extreme mode or any of the others so they may or may not have extra health here. but even then playing as armorless X is just asking to have a tough time depending on the level. I find shield Sheldon or whatever his name is he is easiest to clear with an armorless X his level is friendly and Commander Yammark too. Other levels you gotta be more careful with.
@@Naglfar94 I guess it's because I didn't knew how unfair this game was at the time, then I completed X4 with No Armor X and was like "Gotta try the same thing with X6" and I tried, but just gave up after 3 stages, but I have to admit I was looking for frustration when I put in X-Treme mode X6 still one of my least X games but nowadays I appreciate this game a little more
@@ayrtonjoga I beat X4 1 time with an armorless X it was hell but X4 is the easiest X game on the PS1 if we are going by base difficulty so it was more a possible thing to do sorta easy. Although facing 2nd form sigma was utter hell. It was due to that experience that I thought X was terrible to Zero. I am still a Zero main but I also sometimes mix it up with X. at that time tho I had no knowledge with the armor parts so I had no clue of them the only piece I would always have is the hover boots that is it.I should have also mentioned Shadow armor X in X6 is great too shame that like the Gaea armor the parts are usually gathered last as they are hardest to obtain so by the time you do get it the game is nearly over. I am thinking about using a cheat code in X6 for fun and have the shaodw armor by default and do the whole game with it there must be codes somewhere for that. I saw someone on youtube do X5 the whole game in Gaea armor. but yeah X6 using X with no armor is practically asking for it. it does kinda suck though that X cannot function at full capacity in the games without an armor of some kind as I do like the way he looks armorless but unlike Zero he needs to rely on those to get by reasonably. X6 is one of my fav X games tbh when I looked around and saw most people actively hate the game that kinda left me confused as it wasn't that bad to me and I didn't mind the nightmare system which you can actually manipulate when and what appears if you know what does what. Gate was an awesome villain and I kinda wish they did not take a 180 and make Sigma the villain again here Sigma came out of nowhere but like Dr.Wily he just has to be around but in my opinion the last boss should have been Gate. The music was great in the game and overall I spent the most time total with this X game than any other. due to all of the things in this game, secrets and unlockables and alternate paths to explore all in all this was a great X game I just wish more people eased on the hate of this game it is not bad in my opinion and was a great welcome to the X series and it improved on things that previous X games could have used more exploration and larger stages and way more extras and secrets. I spent soooo much time in X6 exploring every little corner of each level and was always thrilled when I found an alternate path or something else. metal Shark Players stage can go and burn tho his level is annoying so much instant death there but you gotta have patience to clear that level and not rush.
I thought it was too rock at first, then I realized that it was actually a nod to the SNES games, which pulled off rock sounding music on the sound chip. Probably the only thing that wasn't rushed and polished.
About the Zsaber shield tech: It happens because the shield actually "splits" the saber's sprite making both sprites damage separately, and since his 2slashes dont give bosses "invul state" you can add dash cancels on top of it...
Infinity Mijinion and Blaze Heatnix theme songs were absolute bangers The fact that these two are the most memorable Mavericks for me in the entirety of the series (because of the music) is just insane! 😂
I’m enjoying this review, but I’d disagree with you that the story is bad. I enjoy the story, albeit shoddy execution and translation. I do like Gate, he seems like an interesting villain, but Sigma coming out of nowhere was just forced. X6 is quite the interesting Megaman game.
1:12 Cool story Enigma really deadass worked with me on first try, I assumed it was just a normal thing to happen, quickly I realized it wasn't, and over the years as I played the game I'd sometimes reboot it countless times at that part in hopes of making it work... Don't remember ever getting the same outcome again.

The first megaman game i played was x4 and the second was x6. i think the loving of the game usually comes from it being a childhood memory. as a kid i used to think high max was actually unbeatable in the alternate route and the game overall was hard but i played it so much that i got used to the difficulty. and after some time i was playing it well and you really love a game no matter how hard it is if you can play it well. i think x6 was the main reason i thought x3 was a piece of cake when i played it as an adult but that's just me.
I skipped from X to X6 and really just found that X6 was a bit harder and that was it... Never really noticed the flaws until years later. Regardless, they both together sealed my love of video game music! X6's music is still top-tier!
X6 was never a cash grab, it was meant to happen because at the end of X5 X was carrying Zero’s saber meaning that led to the possibility of a new game in the series
seems like optimally blitzing while ignoring the bad story can save a lot of bad games, I do the same with fire emblem fates and it's actually pretty fun to revisit
@@ayrtonjoga Because upgrading the X buster comes with the heavy nerf that you have to stand in place to shoot the fully charged one. You can't release the charge shot and keep dashing and firing.
@@SimpIeton1 wait that's all? Come on just don't shoot both charged shoots immediately one after the other, besides the level 3 charged shot still works like it always has, it seems a bit excessive to call the games an offender for that very small thing
For me I personally enjoy X6 and to me I see it as the “Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels” of 32-bit X series. It forced me to “git gud” at mastering the physics and parts system of the game, helping to overcome challenges in the familiar X formula. Just my humble opinion. ✌🏼
X6 is broken but still fun. X4 is disgustingly overrated. It's by no means bad just overrated X5 has issues but is way funner than 4 X1 is amazing but x2 is better
All of the Playstation 1 era X games have their positives and negatives. X4 had animated cutscenes which I liked, and the voice acting is something that some people love and some people hate. It was the first game in which Zero was fully playable from start to finish of the game. Instead of improving on the voice acting, it was scrapped altogether for X5. X5 started the leveling system for bosses (why?), introduced power up parts that X and Zero could equip aside from X's Armor (though in a convoluted way tied to hunter rank, boss level, and hours remaining before Colony crash). Also introduced tips from Navigator Alia, which seem to be a relatively common complaint. X6 brought back voice acting... in Japanese... They didn't even TRY to localize the voice acting for other countries! It is satisfying to rescue Reploids and gain power up parts from them... but their placement and the placement of the Nightmare Viruses if you want to save all of the Reploids... is absolutely frustrating and stressful. In X6, you can open up the first of the final stages without beating all 8 bosses... but the stages can't be completed if you don't already have at least one of the 8 boss weapons, specific power up parts, and/or completed Blade or Shadow Armors for X. Some of the Reploids and items cannot be reached without certain Parts or Armors. Not to mention the randomness of Central Museum and the Nightmare stage effects are both just unnecessary pains in the behind! I do like X7 better. Not quite as stressful. I like the introduction of Axl, though the problems with his copy shot are fixed in X8. X7 brought back localized voice acting, Reploids can be rescued using abilities of different characters without requiring extra power up Parts, though their dying still requires a Title Screen reset if you wish to try saving them again. But, despite each character having spaces for 16 parts each, and the presence of 16 Reploids to save per stage, you still have to play the entire game THREE TIMES in order to collect all of the power up Parts available for X, Zero, and Axl! Alia's tips can be ignored like in X6, but unlike X6 if you listen to her message once she's done, the messages still repeat every time you enter a stage in X7.
Oh yeah... and I forgot about the part where Rainy Turtloid is weak against Blizzard Wolfang's weapon... but the ceiling in his boss room is TOO HIGH UP for Zero to use his High Jump in order to stick to the ceiling and USE his ice attack! Lame.
One more "plus" about X6 over X5... X5 never states what in the heck the head part of the Gaea Armor is supposed to do! At least in X6, it is clear that the head part of the Shadow Armor helps X to "analyze" the Z Saber and swing it faster!
I wouldn't say Difficult! I say Extreme!! I played this on GameCube. I enjoy playing Mega Man X on Playstation4,Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch. I have started playing X5 and X6 on Gamecube in 2020, but when I got Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, I was pumped to have it for these systems because I have not played X5 to X8 when I was in High School in 2001 after my Graduation, but I am happy I own Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 for the systems I mentioned.
I personally kinda think this game deserved a second chance. It still has it's flaws like Blaze Heatnix's stage and the Gate stages. But, despite the game not saying so it really should be viewed to the public as a difficult game. The plot in my opinion works very well to tag along with X5. (except the fact Eurasia crashed into Earth and the world was saved at the same time) So, there's this guy named Gate who's a scientist but then he finds DNA for Zero and creates the Zero nightmare which he then becomes very corrupt as a maverick. The hunters find out Gate was evil and (with Zero back) they go stop Gate. As always, Sigma was the one who corrupted Gate and his scheme gets put to an end. Then the hunters work hard to rebuild the Earth using Gate's death as an inspiration. (Sigma killed Gate) The gameplay is what you're used to from X4 and 5 with responsive controls. I personally am mixed with this game.
Man why would you wanna skip x3? its awesome in my openion, a challenging game with new stuff like the sub tanks n stuff, i consider it better than X5,X6,X7,X8 imo
Can't believe how innocent I was before discovering worldwide interaction with the people. I was HYPED on the arrival of X7. As I grew older and being introduced to the people outside my reach, especially the fanbase, I have become the thing they say as "consoomer" who would consume and would be milked by the company at its fullest. I used to have fun and created memories by my friends of introducing X series from X4 to X6 at that time at the time I own ps1. Now that the fanbase 'saddened and having pity' over my past because how unfortunate and terrible my past is compared to them who hate X6 with 'burning passion'.
Lengthy and nerdy comment incoming lol: I've come to prefer playing as X in all of the games, mostly because learning how to optimally play as him ends up being more rewarding for me, someone who loves to try to get hit as little as possible.(and with minimal cheese unlike a lot of Zero's best combat tech). Playing Zero as intended in all the games, is less my style than X as a result. X rewards precision, timing and anticipation far more, since you need to be good at timing the charge up of your buster shot, dashing, aiming etc. Not to mention chaining pellets, mid-charge shots, and full charged shots, all the while maintaining the momentum to never stop moving is so satisfying. And with X's special weapons, they offer another layer to his style for me. Often the buster does the job just fine, but combing normal shots with the right special weapon often keeps the speed up. Basically, I'm an X player because playing X as efficiently as Zero requires a lot more planning and execution, while making the growth I have in skill be reflected in X's character trait of having "infinite potential". For X6 specifically, doing X only runs of the game require me to truly understand every aspect of his kit, as well as how the nightmare system works. As a result, obtaining all parts necessary to simply allow X to finish the game has become an oddly fun part of the puzzle. I'm able to do an X only run now in about 70 minutes, which isn't bad considering I have no clue how to abuse speedrun tech. The journey was brutal and unfair, but like, every time I hear that ending theme play during the credits, the sense of accomplishment is great. And then I think to myself (and I think this for every Mega Man game) how can my next run be better?
for nostalgic reason, i played all Mega Man X series for a week, and had just beating the X5 yesterday. fyi, my very first X series is X4 when i was a kid back then, and i LOVE it. tho i didn't really care about the lore, just shot 'em all in sight and make thru the levels. X5 come out, it's okay.. X6 come out, then i don't know, i didn't have the "feel" to continue after couple levels. then, this pandemic situation makes me think, i never played X1 - X3. so i go with it. and goes X4 and X5 as well. tho, i never use any codes (yet), just based on info (walkthrough, etc). gonna start play X6 today, and i'll let you know what i think about it. so far, my top 3 for X series is: 1. Mega Man X (c'mon, it's the original X series, even tho i played X4 first) "HADOUKEN!!" lol 2. Mega Man X4 (imo, best from psx trilogy, so far) 3. Mega Man X2 (in memory of The Green Biker Dude)
I watched a few speedruns while making this, and seeing people tear the game apart from beginning to end in under 20 minutes is truly incredible to witness!
Only Mega Man game I played is ZX Advent. I have 11 on Switch & Legacy Collection on Steam but have yet to touch them. That said I should put in my 11 cart to get that sweet 60 rewards points.
I don’t understand why people hate X6 but love X3. X6 is at least action packed fun. X3 stages are empty and boring with no fun gimmicks and all the stage enemies are super stiff and the music is horrible.
The problem with x6 is it is hard in a bad way x5 was hard in an enjoyable way but x6 annoyed me It gets too hard that I couldn't do anything , high max & Gate are kind of IMPOSSIBLE to defeat and the nightmare system is a real nightmare But still it is a mega man game and even the terrible ones worth playing and are enjoyable ( at least for me ) Yes x5 is great and x6 DEFINITELY isn't as good as x5 but nothing can change the fact that playing mega man games are enjoyable
i like how people hate on the donut min boss yet don't use X's charged metal anchor where he summons a horde of storm eagles, or Zero's ground pound laser move that utterly destroys them in no time.
That's the problem. It requires specific weapons to get which severely restricts creativity with boss orders. Metal Shark is also one of the last bosses in a typical order. Heatnix decently early.
Okay here's my take on this game particularly game isn't technically terrible gameplay-wise I just feel it's more of a the most of the games before it I mean they do have to change it up a bit if every game is going to be exactly the same from the previous games and what's the fun in that as my way of looking at however there are some stages where like a fire stage falcon whatever you're fighting donut rings for flipping ever I get that stages complete ass and terrible the other levels are pretty fun and easy going
Megaman & Bass is the worst?! I'd totally rather play MM&B than X6 any day of the year! Same thing with X7, I'd so much rather play X7 than X6! X7 is worse than X6?! I hope you are joking! *points to J's Reviews' review of X6*
Hey dude I just wanted to let you know you’ve got a trav guy hidding on your thumbnail I’m not sure if you want him there but if not you should do something about it
All though x6 was poorly put and the stage designs are horrible at times. *cough* infinity mijinion and metal shark player. On top of the story I still havent understood fully (at all really) But it's still an enjoyable game when you dont play it the way it should aka ABUSE ZEROS shell sheldon hit frames.
X5 is my fave. X1 and X4 are too easy for me and X3 is just a mess. X2 comes close to being one of my faves even though judging by pure quality X1 is better and more polished, however X2 and X5 are much more interesting to play. And stop bitching bout Alia she was not that bad.
My opinion has actually changed in the years since this review, but I was really turned off by the excessive amounts of backtracking. Also, I felt like a lot of ideas - such as Zero's implementation - were half-baked at best. Again, I actually quite like the game nowadays, deciding after a recent Mega Man X Twitch marathon I did that I like it more than X2 now. I don't understand why I used to not care for a lot of the level design in general before, but overall I can see why I didn't care for it before.
Wow, losing all credibility right out of the gate by getting mad about someone's opinions on old video games on the internet... what kind of clown would be upset about that!
Aint nothing flawed in X6. Its a national treasure you have to have a some skill and some strategic gameplay in order to play because they allow you to customize your gameplay plus they have the overdrive feature that allows you to basically acess a overpowered besrk mode for your character briefly i know alot of you guys don't even know about it because i never see videos with anyone accessing it. plus you got ultimate armor and black zero codes for this game. The saber X has is not slower than zero's saber you only think that because you dont know how to use it. If you use the dash feature and dash cancel feature correctly while using the saber x can swing that saber much faster than zero. I used to use the same feature on X4 with zero and would rather have the saber that X have in X6 than Zero new saber. X6 showed you who have skill and who dont because all you guys do is whine.
Eh, not a fan of scanlines. More of a fan of playing them on with S-video filters (so any mesh these pixel art games use translate to real transparency)
Admittedly i still love x6. Its a broken janky mess of a game. The plot is sub par at best and the nightmare system is annoying at best and down right infuriating at worse especially when it decides to just activate when nothing has been done to it... Heres looking at you turtoloid stage... But all in all i love the game. Its stupid silly fun i can enjoy. Yes some of the bosses are garbage and the stage hazards in this game can be an exercise in torture. But this one is still one of my favorites. And having played x7.... Yeah i can safely say this game is better if for no other reason than because of gameplay and music all together.. Side note. Axls shutgun in x7 is beyond broken jesus christ....
Inafune made X5... which is at my bottom list for the X games.... X6 should have been good... but X5 should have been good and got very wrong. At least you may not NEED TO REVISIT THE SAME F*KING LEVEL 3 TIMES!!! AND YOU CAN HAVE THE JUMPER AND SPEEDSTER PARTS ALONG WITH ALL OTHER PARTS WITH NO F* RNG AND BOSS LEVEL REQUIREMENTS!!!! ALSO! THE DONUT MAVERICK IS NOT AN ANCIENT SUBMARINE AUTO-SCROLL!!!!!!
You are fucking crazy if you think that Mega Man X's 32 bit music is superior than his 16 bit era,X3's OST alone completely demolishes the entire catalog from all the PS1 Mega Man X games. In fact? X3 is the crown jewel of the series, good plot > amazing soundtrack > brutal yet plausible difficulty > and some of the most useful and badass power ups in the franchise's history.
The X4 plot had potential, but the execution, especially in the English version, was rather meme-worthy. As for X1, I'll disagree on the SNES release, but if we're talking Maverick Hunter X, I'll give you that one
@@StuffWePlay I concur on the garbage dubbing making X4 a cringe fest, but hey patches for Rockman X4 exist so cheer up. X1 in SNES has easy to follow plot, that's why is one of the best when it comes to narrative. The Day Of Sigma created more contradictions than the original,so i don't think it's a good reboot.
Kind of? Like, it has good mechanics, but stuff such as the unstoppable cutscenes Alia dialogue and the RNG involved with getting the good ending make it a title I don't return to much
I'm sick and tired of people crapping all over a game that brought so much awesome moments to me as a kid and during my teen years. Fuck, I understand the hate towards X7 but X6 and X5 get crapped on aaaaaall over the place! I don't agree. God damnit!
X6 has INCREDIBLE ideas but fumbles the execution. Megaman games have always lacked a proper difficulty curve, but the Nightmare Effects mixed with simplistic boss levelling would fix that - if the Nightmare Effects weren't just cheap add ons. Rescuable Reploids offer fun timed challenges with bonus rewards similar to Star Coins in Mario games, and I like that their death is permanent... If that didn't permanently lock you out of their rewards. A shop system for the parts would have worked better, with Reploids and bosses dropping currency. That way if you missed too many Reploids you could grind Dynamo and still buy all the parts.
Also the stages are genuinely some of the coolest ideas in the series. Mijinion in particular is the PS1 highlight aside from the boss himself. Zero 2 even managed to make a good fire stage with a gimmick similar to Rainy Turtloid, proving it can be done.
Note: If Zero goes up to the Light Capsule in Commander Yammark's stage to collect the Armor Part for X, it is revealed that neither Zero nor the Dr. Light hologram know who rebuilt Zero after X5.
"all of the Mega Man X games after X5"
*cries in X8*
X8 was good...except for those ride bike stages
Eh
Lackluster weapons
Collectibles shoved into a shop so you dont find them anymore
Boring enemy gauntlets
Definitely not bad though but theres still these and the gimmick stages
That Trav Guy ikr x 8 is so good
Stuff We Play tbh even those were fine, they werent nearly as bad as x5’s
I prefer using ultimate armor over black Zero. They both make the game easier and more bearable but, I've always liked playing as X over Zero.
Oh geez I typed too much.... either way....
tl;dr X6 just isn't that "bad".
never beat X6 games, so i can't tell is it good (enough) or (that) bad, or.. both (?)
i'll come to this comment later when i beat the game, but it takes some time, i'm not a pro. lol
tldr; X6 isn't bad, it's downright awful
i almost forgot i put that comment up there. lol
so, i beat the game with 100% completion, aand if i got help from walkthrough considered as cheating, you can say that, i don't mind.
BUT, even with the walkthrough. x6 is barely beaten, it's so ridiculously hard, frustrating-level sometimes. especially when i fought the giant donnut thing. FROM THE START of the level, geez.... almost give up.
but it's a fun games, the difficulties can be both fun and sucks.
i can really feel this game is somehow rushed, very rushed. capcom can do better than this, i believe.
but yeah... i enjoyed it.
still, my fav mmx game from psx is mmx4. nothing changed. haha
I commend you for your dedication to X6. Its still pretty bad if you grew up on X1 through X4
"Also, NEVER try playing through these stages as Base X!"
Me just casually playing through the final stage and beating it without dying as Base X:
(I used Shock Absorber though so I think it helped)
1. The Second best OST of the series (only behind X1);
1.2 The best intro music and animation;
2. The best Boss designs;
3. The best sprites and playability of x and zero (especially when you Go Berserk and Slash dozens of enemies with the lighthening fast zero's saber and parts equipped, that is delightful);
4. The visually best armor designs;
5. Very good graphics;
6. The most challenging levels of the series, with innovating and creative ideas and mechanics with High difficulties, what makes them unboring and extends replay factor (yes, I know the game has level design flaws that are bullshit);
I agree in some points, but I like X4 because I think it's a solid game, solid challenge and bosses
If you like X6, that is fine, but I just like X6 OST, which is my 3rd favorite of the series, and the Parts System, but the rest of the game, it's a hell on earth to me.
@@Naglfar94 I guess it's because I didn't knew how unfair this game was at the time, then I completed X4 with No Armor X and was like "Gotta try the same thing with X6" and I tried, but just gave up after 3 stages, but I have to admit I was looking for frustration when I put in X-Treme mode
X6 still one of my least X games but nowadays I appreciate this game a little more
@@ayrtonjoga I beat X4 1 time with an armorless X it was hell but X4 is the easiest X game on the PS1 if we are going by base difficulty so it was more a possible thing to do sorta easy.

A game that i enjoy playing cus of the music.
The X6 soundtrack is legendarily awesome!
Only thing i like about this game
I thought it was too rock at first, then I realized that it was actually a nod to the SNES games, which pulled off rock sounding music on the sound chip.
Probably the only thing that wasn't rushed and polished.
How to make X6 tolerable.
1. Use rookie Hunter mode in legacy collection
2. Use ultimate armor or black zero cheat
3. Skip all the cut scenes.
Sonic 06 = Mega Man X 6
About the Zsaber shield tech: It happens because the shield actually "splits" the saber's sprite making both sprites damage separately, and since his 2slashes dont give bosses "invul state" you can add dash cancels on top of it...
X6 was the game that made me realize that you can still enjoy and like a bad game.
Thinking about something critically and realizing its flaws doesn't mean it can't be enjoyed!
Infinity Mijinion and Blaze Heatnix theme songs were absolute bangers
The fact that these two are the most memorable Mavericks for me in the entirety of the series (because of the music) is just insane! 😂
X6 is a broken mess, but it's a fun broken mess. And it has an awesome soundtrack to boot!
I’m enjoying this review, but I’d disagree with you that the story is bad. I enjoy the story, albeit shoddy execution and translation. I do like Gate, he seems like an interesting villain, but Sigma coming out of nowhere was just forced. X6 is quite the interesting Megaman game.
This is actually my fav mmx game xD loved the review btw
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
A guilty pleasure that both infuriates me but is OH SO SATISFYING to beat imo

DISGUSTING! WE’RE MEN AND WE DON’T USE ROOKIE HUNTER MODE!
Cant blame someone for using it in x 6
I got zero before beating my first boss using infinity mijinion stage.
I skipped from X to X6 and really just found that X6 was a bit harder and that was it... Never really noticed the flaws until years later. Regardless, they both together sealed my love of video game music! X6's music is still top-tier!
One thing we can all agree on is how good the music is. It wasn't as bad a game for me, but it was certainly was lacking.
I am the other guy that likes Megaman X5, I go back and forth between it and X4 for which is my favorite
These 2 game was my 2 first game
>All the Mega Man X games after X5
Hold up, gotta work on my 3 hour response diatribe as to why you shouldn’t shit on X8
Lol X8 is pretty good, promise
X6 was never a cash grab, it was meant to happen because at the end of X5 X was carrying Zero’s saber meaning that led to the possibility of a new game in the series
seems like optimally blitzing while ignoring the bad story can save a lot of bad games, I do the same with fire emblem fates and it's actually pretty fun to revisit
I LOVE X6 and 8
X6 is my 4th favourite game of the X series, and X8 is my 5th favourite
But X5 is my favourite in the series
I love this game. It's mechanically the best despite all of its atrocities. I beat it so many times. You know what I find more offensive? X2 & X3
Why?
Uh why? Honestly I love x3 , x2 not as much but I don't consider it a bad game at all
@@ayrtonjoga Because upgrading the X buster comes with the heavy nerf that you have to stand in place to shoot the fully charged one. You can't release the charge shot and keep dashing and firing.
@@yeyo1019 ^
It's by no means bad just overrated
X5 has issues but is way funner than 4
X1 is amazing but x2 is better
X5 & X6 need a remake in that Classic 32 bit style :)
I wouldn't say Difficult! I say Extreme!! I played this on GameCube. I enjoy playing Mega Man X on Playstation4,Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch. I have started playing X5 and X6 on Gamecube in 2020, but when I got Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, I was pumped to have it for these systems because I have not played
X5 to X8 when I was in High School in 2001 after my Graduation, but I am happy I own Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 for the systems I mentioned.
You should really play the X6 Tweaks hack. It makes the game SO much better
Legit have a video on that in the works! Should be out tonight!
I still agree with Inafune however
This is why developers shouldn't rush games in just 3 months.
Man why would you wanna skip x3? its awesome in my openion, a challenging game with new stuff like the sub tanks n stuff, i consider it better than X5,X6,X7,X8 imo
It all comes down to personal preference!
@@StuffWePlay true
And then I think to myself (and I think this for every Mega Man game) how can my next run be better?
nice video. I don't think i've played any of the X game series. Honestly, I can't think of any MM games I've played outside of the nes era or MM 11
MM11 is a great place to start!
So no one is going to mention that Ground Scaravich technique pretty much ruins zero gameplay?
for nostalgic reason, i played all Mega Man X series for a week, and had just beating the X5 yesterday.
fyi, my very first X series is X4 when i was a kid back then, and i LOVE it. tho i didn't really care about the lore, just shot 'em all in sight and make thru the levels.
X5 come out, it's okay.. X6 come out, then i don't know, i didn't have the "feel" to continue after couple levels.
then, this pandemic situation makes me think, i never played X1 - X3. so i go with it.
and goes X4 and X5 as well.
tho, i never use any codes (yet), just based on info (walkthrough, etc).
gonna start play X6 today, and i'll let you know what i think about it.
so far, my top 3 for X series is:
1. Mega Man X (c'mon, it's the original X series, even tho i played X4 first) "HADOUKEN!!" lol
2. Mega Man X4 (imo, best from psx trilogy, so far)
3. Mega Man X2 (in memory of The Green Biker Dude)
I beat megaman x6 with red zero and some useful upgrades. I'm still liking your video, but some people need to get up to the task sometimes lol
I didn't know that Zero made the game that easy. My goodness!
MM11 is a great time! you should definitely give it a try!
@@StuffWePlay I plan on it! Possibly with something that isn't the god awful joycon button pad.
i cant believe i beat x6 but ya x7 is the worst no question , and i love x5 fuck the haters game was amazing
I don’t understand why people hate X6 but love X3. X6 is at least action packed fun. X3 stages are empty and boring with no fun gimmicks and all the stage enemies are super stiff and the music is horrible.
It's the Sonic 06 of the Mega Man franchise
Have you tried the tweaks patch for x6?
Well, X8 was a lot better than X7... That one was okay... Though if X7 didn't exist, X8 would've never came out. So yeah... Paradoxical...
The problem with x6 is it is hard in a bad way
x5 was hard in an enjoyable way but x6 annoyed me
It gets too hard that I couldn't do anything , high max & Gate are kind of IMPOSSIBLE to defeat and the nightmare system is a real nightmare
But still it is a mega man game and even the terrible ones worth playing and are enjoyable ( at least for me )
Yes x5 is great and x6 DEFINITELY isn't as good as x5 but nothing can change the fact that playing mega man games are enjoyable
i like how people hate on the donut min boss yet don't use X's charged metal anchor where he summons a horde of storm eagles, or Zero's ground pound laser move that utterly destroys them in no time.
That's the problem. It requires specific weapons to get which severely restricts creativity with boss orders. Metal Shark is also one of the last bosses in a typical order. Heatnix decently early.
For me gravity bettle theme is the best
Very well said
Thank you!
I know some people that hates Popeye's chicken.
Myself included! They're a disgrace to Cajun food!
@@StuffWePlay How? Just wondering.
@@lexnoil Cause they commit the cardinal sin of cooking: their food is bland
Ah.
I have the sane feeling for X5
Megaman & Bass is the worst?! I'd totally rather play MM&B than X6 any day of the year! Same thing with X7, I'd so much rather play X7 than X6! X7 is worse than X6?! I hope you are joking! *points to J's Reviews' review of X6*
I love it because of the Ultimate Armor and Zero
Hey dude I just wanted to let you know you’ve got a trav guy hidding on your thumbnail
I’m not sure if you want him there but if not you should do something about it
Okay, but I'm gonna drop an even more controversial opinion, I like Mega Man X7. Legit. No joke.
All though x6 was poorly put and the stage designs are horrible at times. *cough* infinity mijinion and metal shark player.
On top of the story I still havent understood fully (at all really)
But it's still an enjoyable game when you dont play it the way it should aka
ABUSE ZEROS shell sheldon hit frames.
I've only read the title and gave it a like
Wait you hate x3? x3 is my fav game
That's fair!
It has so much contect for a snes platformer.
I like X6 as much as I hate Megaman 2 and 3
Mega Man X6 can be fun to play but it's a pretty bad game and u need to really know the game & have a high tolerance to dying a lot
Mega Man X6, Mega Man X St!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love Popeyes and Megaman soccer tho.
Art of Failure? 🤔🤔🤔
The last of the initial 6 episodes should be out very soon.
X5 is my fave. X1 and X4 are too easy for me and X3 is just a mess. X2 comes close to being one of my faves even though judging by pure quality X1 is better and more polished, however X2 and X5 are much more interesting to play. And stop bitching bout Alia she was not that bad.
Mega Man X2 was better than Mega Man X.
0:38 What's the problem with X3?🥺
2:17 I think you're crazy, maybe
My opinion has actually changed in the years since this review, but I was really turned off by the excessive amounts of backtracking. Also, I felt like a lot of ideas - such as Zero's implementation - were half-baked at best.
Again, I actually quite like the game nowadays, deciding after a recent Mega Man X Twitch marathon I did that I like it more than X2 now. I don't understand why I used to not care for a lot of the level design in general before, but overall I can see why I didn't care for it before.
@@filipedias7284 Perhaps I should do a video on this sometime!
Wow, losing all credibility right put of the gate saying to skip X3... what kind of clown would skip that game, its awesome!
This game is total garbage... but I like it.
I'm just gonna say it bro... Scanlines is the objectively best way to play pixel art games. Please delete and reupload this (jk but not entirely).
I would rather play X7 8 times before playing X6 1 time lol that game is awful
Perhaps it's time I consider doing a video on X7!
Xtreme 2 is the best megaman x game change my mind
You are fucking crazy if you think that Mega Man X's 32 bit music is superior than his 16 bit era,X3's OST alone completely demolishes the entire catalog from all the PS1 Mega Man X games.
In fact? X3 is the crown jewel of the series, good plot > amazing soundtrack > brutal yet plausible difficulty > and some of the most useful and badass power ups in the franchise's history.
I don't think any of the Mega Man X games have what I'd call a "good plot". I'm just here for the fast-paced platforming!
@@StuffWePlay Some X games do have good plot,X1 and X4 for examples.
Do you think X5 is decent?
It’s Me TheBandicootGamer I made a new channel for game reviews and history videos
Kind of? Like, it has good mechanics, but stuff such as the unstoppable cutscenes Alia dialogue and the RNG involved with getting the good ending make it a title I don't return to much
Popeyes is good no cap
basically i
this game sucks but I adore it
X2 is the best and better than X1!!
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SMOKING???
Nothing? What's wrong with our opinions on this old video game?
Easy boss kill tactics for zero spam slash and dash as fast as you can, your welcome lol
Why you talkin shit about Popeye’s?
favorite x game for me
Uhh no it's doesn't, Mega Man X6 is unironically fucking awesome >:c
megaman x3 was amazing!! now 4,5 and 6 junk
X4 was amaaaaazing! X7 though...*shudders*
@@StuffWePlay never play seven and just found out because of you about 8 lol
Honestly, the worst Megaman game in my opinion was Megaman Legends. Just ick.
I know Legends is polarizing, though I still need to play it. That and Starforce I've never gotten to play much of
I will not stand for this Megaman Soccer slander.
