Synopsis: Criminal Dr Evil goes back to the 1960s after stealing Austin Powers's magical charm, from which he derives his sexual prowess. Austin, along with Felicity, a CIA agent, follows him to retrieve it.
The reason this feels so "Star Wars" heavy in some spots (the opening crawl, the final act, the "I am your father gag") is because this movie came out the same summer as The Phantom Menace. Producers knew they couldn't beat Star Wars head-on so they just leaned into it to ride the marketing hype.

Don’t forget that they made a teaser trailer that parodied Star Wars, by tricking the audience members into thinking that this was the trailer for The Phantom Menace.
Austin Powers is one of those rare franchises that got better with each movie - Goldmember is FANTASTIC.
It definitely got grosser with each new movie.
I never understood why he stopped at 3 and made the Love Guru instead. Maybe he could bring it back as a Netflix series now?!

The late Verne Troyer truly added to what made the original notable and made it better for the sequel. It's very unfortunate what happened to him.
For a guy whose parents were told wouldn't make it past His 2nd birthday, I'd say making it to almost 50 is a life lived fairly well. I hate that they ruled Verne's death a s*icide due to alcohol poisoning. He could get smashed off of one pint. Sounds more like just regular dying to me. RIP🕯️
This movie is honestly underrated to me, it's funny and a good sequel as well, also I love how Fat Bastard brings a Shrek Personality to the movie, it just feels Super Meta
I feel like it was his Shrek warmup. He got all the non-PG dialogue out of the way. lol

This is my favorite Austin movie. I went to the theaters for this one and had a blast.

At 25:36, the rotating chair scene was actually not scripted. The chair really was malfunctioning, and Myers amazingly stayed in character and went along with it. They decided to just leave it in the movie for fun.

The best thing about these films is that is perfectly parody’s very specific Bond film moments, yet it’s still funny even when you don’t know the references. The human shied bit is a straight Roger Moore moment!

At 3:03, They actually filmed Myers being lowered into the pool, and they played that footage backwards. If you look carefully, you'll notice that the water streams are moving backwards into the sprayers.
Since I haven't seen anyone else mention it, I just have to tell you that the scene at 25:00 where the chair is spinning out of control is actually an unscripted moment! The chair really malfunctioned! Mike Meyers stayed in character the whole time and they decided to keep it in the film, thankfully! That part has me dying every fucking time. Also, I'm with you, the scene of her in bed with Fat Bastard and the "coffee" scene damn near make me puke EVERY TIME. Also, Heather Graham is hot as fuck and had me going in this film, as does "Ivanna". ;) Lol

@@killinglonliness88 Can you give me the source then? I've seen this scene played on multiple TH-cam channels and the comments sections for all those videos seem to be in agreement this was a prank done by the chair operator.
Otherwise, YEP. why would Mike stay in character and the scene not get interrupted by the crew trying to help him get off as it was turning faster and faster? Logic would then assume it's because the crew knew it was a prank. It never malfunctioned.
The song doctor evil and mini me did was a parody of a Will Smith song, He wrote for his son. “Just the two of us” I think this one slaps harder though. Lol.

some people actually prefer 3 to 2! its a bit of a debate! 1 is the best genre parody in the series, but 2 and 3 are excellent comedies and both have really great moments. i think i like 2 more, but the shadow pantomime gag in 3 is worth watching that movie on its own. oh, and the opening sequence, which is fucking absurd.
