      For me, the sequels get funnier, especially as they get ever more outrageous. Movies are subjective, Goldmember had me crying with laughter where man of mystery seemed a bit obvious and easy. I hope you watch them all.

    Pretty funny watching you watch the scene of Austin discovering all of the new tech and catching up on events and then you don't even know what half of the "new" things are he's looking at. If no one has said it yet, those were The Pump shoes by Reebok. Basically, you pressed the pump at the top and it'd fill the shoe with air for more cushion so it'd fit your foot better. Liberace was a famous musician who was always very flamboyant and had some very interesting fashion choices. The joke being that it was fairly obvious he wasn't some super straight alpha male type. I'll give you a pass though considering you're as out of time as Austin was in the movie.

      I remember those shoes growing up, but never had them, they seemed really gimmicky, though I had friends who swore by them and thought they made them play basketball better. Well yeah, if your shoe fits better... just get better fitting shoes to begin with? I mean they didn't last, so...

    • @MysterClark
      @MysterClark ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hellomark1 Honestly, I can't remember if I had those ones or not. Maybe a knockoff kind. I know I had the shoes with the lights in them for sure, which was also very gimmicky, but I'm not sure about the pump up shoes.
      Even if those shoes did work they probably didn't work well enough for the company. Either they weren't as popular as they'd like or they ended up costing too much or even just found better ways to make shoes comfortable. I'm sure it was just a cool thing to come out with and sold as many as they could while they could then moved onto the next thing.

It has Mike Myers playing a ton of roles, lots of celebrity appearances, and pretty much the same type of humor, but a different storyline entirely. I believe it is only one season, with 6 30ish minute episodes. It is based on conspiracy theories from his "So I Married an Axe Murderer" film, so maybe watch that first.

    The scene with Christian Slater and the Jedi Mind trick is only in the UK/Euro version of the film. Not sure why it didn’t make it to the Og American release.

    25:08 - That outfit is a reference to the first Bond movie, "Dr. No".

    You have to watch the second one. It's even better than the first

    I can't stop thinking of the live action Cat in the Hat movie when I look at Austin Powers. You should watch that for fun sometime lol

    I still use these phrases! All 3 are good, so no one hit wonders on their series.

    love seeing you laugh so much. the soundtrack is awesome and Nancy Sinatra singing "These Boots" was an awesome choice. If you watch the Bond franchise you will get so many other jokes that you didn't know were there.

    The Spy Who Shagged Me is pretty good but Goldmember is my favorite sequel.

    The Austin Powers movies are so funny. They do a lot of the same style jokes but in a different way that makes them just as hilarious.
    I also saw people suggest So I Married An Axe Murderer. Much different than AP but still great and worth checking out.

    The movies really were brilliant, and one of the very few recent instances where comedy sequels complement & improve on the last one. Each one is funnier than the next, you'll be wheezing every time if you keep reacting to them.

    The fembots gag was actually borrowed from the 1967 Bond movie Casino Royale. There are also some recognizable bits from Diamonds are Forever and Goldfinger.

    fun little thing i picked up on: i have recently been watching a lot of 90s saturday night live skits and i think mike myer’s (who was on snl during that era) voice as doctor evil is just his lorne michaels impression. i know for sure the, “righttt” is straight from lorne’s voice haha. it’s pretty spot on if you ask me.
