If it's revamped, visually amazing, well paced and with solid mechanics that keep the attention I don't understand the hate and/or doubt. There are so many examples of amazing JRPGs must-play due to their pacings and narrative, like FF VI, Persona 5 and Dragon Quest XI to name a few.
I played the SNES version of this with a translation patch ages ago. Never imagined it would ever get an official translation + release, let alone a remaster!
So, for those of you that know nothing of this game, here's a bit of a (non-spoiler) primer: This is basically _Octopath Traveler_ before _Octopath Traveler._ You can play the first seven scenarios in any order, but you have to complete them in order to play the others. Each scenario also has a different "feel" that makes them stand out from each other. In addition to that, each scenario's cast were designed by a different manga artist. Most of them are pretty obscure to Western audiences; the biggest ones are the "Twilight of Edo Japan" characters being designed by _Detective Conan's_ mangaka, Gosho Aoyama; and the "Near Future" cast being designed by Kazuhiko Shimamoto, who also was a character designer for _Mobile Fighter G Gundam._ The music was composed by Yoko Shimomura. As fantastic as her body of work is, I personally think that this is one of the best soundtracks that she's ever done. There are so many tracks that are catchy and memorable, to say nothing of the *phenomenal* boss tune. Finally, the director is Takashi Tokita, who's far better known for the critically acclaimed _Chrono Trigger_ and original _Parasite Eve._ In fact, working on _Live A Live_ gave him the confidence he needed to make _Chrono Trigger._ Bottom line is this: Did you love _Octopath Traveler?_ Play this game. Are you a fan of _Chrono Trigger?_ Play this game. Do you just love JRPGs in general? *Play. this. game.* Basically, this game is an amazing feat on all fronts, and I'm super stoked that it's finally being brought West.

I was in a voice chat on Discord with some friends watching the direct. When this popped up I just started screaming in joy. I've heard so much about this game, always wanted to give it a try, never made time to, and now...now this. I'm SO EXCITED!
When the splash art for the announcement appeared, I was like "oh, another remake, but of what game? I do not recognize it", then the little scene at 0:10 with the dinosaur bones appeared, and I was like "this seems familiar, but I cannot tell why". Then the "Crystal Saloon" at 0:13 made it click...and tears started to form in my eyes while the following scenes started to play. Then when the "Live A Live" splash art appeared, and I completely lost it. I was jumping from side to side in my room while doing muffled sounds of excitement. This is one the best RPGs I have played, and seeing it the 2D-HD style made me cry from joy! I thank God that I am able to be a gamer at this time of history!
Live A Live is one of the cult classic RPGs in Japan. Not as famous as FF or DQ, not even close, but people still talking about it nowadays... I hope western audience will love it too.

This looks so freaking epic. Never heard of it until today. Definitely pre ordering it. The music was amazing, the voice acting at the end with the choreography was one of the most epic shots I've ever seen in media, and HD-2D continues to be a marvel. I love this.

one of the biggest details that i really like about this, is that from the original SNES version, only "Party" characters got the upscaled more detailed look when in battle scenes or in certain cutscenes, now it looks like all NPCs are drawn with that same style. The potential to have characters in expanded roles in this take of the game is quite intriguing.
I played the fan translation recently and never expected this to get a full remake. It's a pretty short with each story being different in style like one character has no battles and another is all battles in a martial arts tournament. The story comes together in a cool way with a big twist.
One of the main reasons I even know about this game is because Toby Fox named MEGALOVANIA after a song from this game, called Megalomania, so seeing this game resurface felt bizarre, I might check out this game in the future

It was perfect, a banger and a amazing joke, rock it all with the banger of a old square game and a indie magnificient and popular recent game! Since this day, Siivagunner was and still a huge inspiration for me, bringing me joy even when I was in pure darkness! I need to play this game, because i'm sure it's my destiny!

It's only one game, but it's very good. It's a bunch of anthology stories in different times and places with different goals that all get linked together in the end very satisfyingly

Pirate crew seeking legendary treasure during age of Enlightenment 7. Policeman fighting against Mafia in America at the end of XIX Century 8. Any war from around first part of XX century (Personally I would prefer Polish-Bolshevik War from 1920) 9. Spy mission during Cold War 10. Group of Teenagers fighting against paranormal creatures - Around Modern Day 11. Cyborg during Robots Uprising - Near Future 12. Aliens struggling against cosmic extinction event - Very distant future 13. Final - Fighting God of Time - Timeless dimension
I love that they're lavishing this treatment on LIVE A LIVE. Folx have no idea how influential this game was. I can't wait for a new audience to experience it & I can't wait to re-experience it myself.
Woww! One of the best SNES rpgs finally gets the recognition it deserves! This comes from a time when Square experimented and tried things that were really ahead of their time. The sci-fi chapter still gives me the chills and the game's original music was in-cre-di-ble. There is also a great twist here, arguably one of the best story twists of its era. It's all about the nature of "evil" - but i'm not going to spoil it here! Really glad about this. :)
When start screen music can make you think about life and all and bring this 44 year old to tears you got something good ahead of you. Picked this game up friday and been playing it this whole weekend.... wasnt expecting the Shifu chapter to go like it did, but i enjoyed it. Great game.

The first time I saw this trailer, I didn't know anything about Live A Live but back then when I heard the music and see the first images of the game, I knew this was an important one. Now I know it's a remake of a non localized game of the snes era and this will be my first experience of Live A Live so I'm very hype for the release of this game.

Holy. Moly. I honestly believed this was an underrated gem in it's time. The fact it is getting a remake in 2022 felt like a dream. I love this game with a passion, and I can't wait for the full release, even if it's practically the same game as last time.
Man, this game is GREAT! The story is so well-designed, the gameplay is so varied and unique, the world-building is fantastic, the soundtrack is phenomenal, so much to love about this title! And, with the graphics like THIS, an already amazing game could get even better. My god, I am so excited for the world to see this masterpiece!

I didn’t see anyone mention it but just if you didn’t know, Toby Fox stated in an interview that the theme “Megalomania” from the original LIVE A LIVE was supposed to be played upon fighting Dr. Andonuts’ final form in the EB Halloween Hack before settling on an entirely original composition that you guys would know to be “Megalovania.”
This game is the predecessor of Octopath Traveler! It came out in the mid-90s in Japan only, on SNES. Very good game, one of the better RPGs by Square unreleased in the West at that time.
I've been a huge fan of this game, since I first got the chance to play it. Currently doing a full playthrough of it, and have full intent to do that with the remake when it finally comes out. If you've never played this game, it's a real treat.

I have never played LIVE A LIVE. But I have heard and love the soundtrack. When I saw that logo and heard that music swell, it gave me chills.
Coming back to this after unlocking the true ending puts a *whole* new perspective on the first 20 seconds of this trailer.

Woww! One of the best SNES rpgs finally gets the recognition it deserves! This comes from a time when Square experimented and tried things that were really ahead of their time. The sci-fi chapter still gives me the chills and the game's original music was in-cre-di-ble. There is also a great twist here, arguably one of the best story twists of its era. It's all about the nature of "evil" - but i'm not going to spoil it here! Really glad about this. :)
When start screen music can make you think about life and all and bring this 44 year old to tears you got something good ahead of you. Picked this game up friday and been playing it this whole weekend.... wasnt expecting the Shifu chapter to go like it did, but i enjoyed it. Great game.

The first time I saw this trailer, I didn't know anything about Live A Live but back then when I heard the music and see the first images of the game, I knew this was an important one.
Now I know it's a remake of a non localized game of the snes era and this will be my first experience of Live A Live so I'm very hype for the release of this game.

Amazing, in my opinion this is the best SFC RPG that was never released outside Japan - crazy to see a true release so many years later
Holy. Moly. I honestly believed this was an underrated gem in it's time. The fact it is getting a remake in 2022 felt like a dream. I love this game with a passion, and I can't wait for the full release, even if it's practically the same game as last time.
Man, this game is GREAT! The story is so well-designed, the gameplay is so varied and unique, the world-building is fantastic, the soundtrack is phenomenal, so much to love about this title! And, with the graphics like THIS, an already amazing game could get even better. My god, I am so excited for the world to see this masterpiece!

This was the first time I’ve lost it in a direct for quite a while. The soundtrack was already god-tier, now it’s going to be reproduced with modern technology. I can’t believe it!

I didn’t see anyone mention it but just if you didn’t know, Toby Fox stated in an interview that the theme “Megalomania” from the original LIVE A LIVE was supposed to be played upon fighting Dr. Andonuts’ final form in the EB Halloween Hack before settling on an entirely original composition that you guys would know to be “Megalovania.”
The reason I like Octopath traveler and Triangle strategy is because of the art style and story and it looks like this game has both
This game is the predecessor of Octopath Traveler! It came out in the mid-90s in Japan only, on SNES. Very good game, one of the better RPGs by Square unreleased in the West at that time.
I've been a huge fan of this game, since I first got the chance to play it. Currently doing a full playthrough of it, and have full intent to do that with the remake when it finally comes out. If you've never played this game, it's a real treat.
