Every new game since return to dreamland had some sort of new gimmick. Returns to dreamland had the powered up super abilities, triple deluxe had the ultra suck, planet robo bot had the mechs, and star Allies had the team up abilities. This game has the Kirby becomes the hat modes, instead of getting the hats
Even if the mechanics feel similar to previous Kirby games the fact that this is in a 3D environment will make it feel so original. Plus mouthful mode is just plain hilarious how can you not like it

This is a wonderful take for Kirby. Abilities that can be upgraded, quirky brief power-ups, a main hub world of sorts that gets unlocks as you progress and all that with cute and pitoresque visuals as well as interesting character designs. This feels like the 3D World/Odyssey of the franchise. Absolute buy!
@@xbenas But other than that game, HAL knows how to distribute buttons. The whole problematic with Balan's game was that they tried to extremely simplify and double-map button functions. There were also way, way too many transformations, some with the same or no proper function even. The Kirby franchise did build on that mechanic since Kirby's Adventure on the NES. I don't think anybody really needs to worry about them suddenly forgetting how to build their gameplay around something they have been using in a dedicated 2D-platforming franchise just because they are in a 3D environment now.

Well he IS an incarnation of the god that is apparently the source of all life in their universe. And he's destroyed multiple evil incarnations of the same god and other universe destroying enemies.
I really love how 1: they brought back the scrolls from Squeak Squad in a slightly different way with hats too (REALLY hoping that this implies sleep will at least get a fighting stance in some way with this that's exactly like, if not better than Battle Royale) And 2: that they finally bring back the elastic properties Kirby have just like Kirby's DreamLand 3 and even the anime (plus I like to think that while Kirby is just stuck on top of the car, Elfilin is just panicking trying to drive a car without being able to see through the windows 🤣)
I'm looking at the trailer for the upgrades and all I could think of was how most of the upgrades were either utilized from previous Kirby games or all the fighter series games we've been getting.

My most desired feature to return from Squeak Squad is definitely spray paints, though I highly doubt they'll bring the concept back due to some silly branding reasons. YES we know, Kirby's pink, but I WANT to paint him green, is that so wrong? Or maybe just that it wasn't what they had planned for this entry, but still.

Plus it only has four job classes, so there isn't much variety beyond being a giant boss battle extravaganza. I was thinking of more turn-based stuff with an original story and everything that makes an RPG solid.

They're going all in on making Kirby as crazy and fun and varied as they can, while in a 3D setting. I'm incredibly happy about this. I also wish I hadn't seen this, because it's so good, but it's so much that I've now seen and won't see for the first time playing the game.

damn this feels like the actual follow up to Planet Robobot. Not that Star Allies was bad, it was just not at all an evolution from fantastic previous entries, Triple Delux and Planet Robobot.
This will be my first Kirby game ever, very excited for this. I can't wait to have a game that you can invest a lot of hours into. This looks like it's gonna be so fun and original.

As someone who just finished (and LOVED) Mario Odyssey, as well as interested in getting into the Kirby franchise, this seems like the perfect game for me. I'm so excited for this to come out!
I highly recommend playing Kirby's Return to Dream Land before you go into this one since that was one of if not the best kirby game so far while still having the good old 2d side scroller style, now this game right here will be THE ALL TIME BEST Kirby game, it looks a bit too fun lol, I'm sure that as a mario odyssey player you'll love it
@@Aquabzs An example of that would be the double needle ability, that instead of having needles it had all sorts of crap. Same thing here with that upgrade that i do not know the name for. Also that purple fire dash kinda looked like double fire, but i think that is a stretch.
I love how with waddle dee town they show this beautiful landscape and it all just gets completely bulldozed and businesses are put there. Not a tree standing. Classy.
So far the themes look like how nature will persevere even if civilization doesn’t. The implication could be that waddle dee town may be built, but it will only be temporary until the trees and other plants come back. Idk

I can’t wait to see the evil version of Moutful mode. Remember: also final bosses can use mega abilities: Magolor has Ultra swords, Flare dragon, Flare beam and Icycle Mega-hammer. Sectonia have eat four miracle fruits in the true arena (Miracle fruits are the source of Hypernova ability). Haltmann and Susie have their own Robobot armors. And Hyness perfomed friend circle with the three mage sisters. So is more than probable that even the final boss of this game can perform the Moutful mode.
Man, we haven't had upgradeable copy abilities since Squeak Squad, have we? This time they even come with new hats! Here's hoping the upgraded Sleep ability makes a return. It was nice having it not be totally useless in Squeak Squad.

This game is like a perfect combination of Air Ride’s exploration, and Crystal Shard’s experimenting with endless combinations of abilities. I would have been obsessed with this game as a kid. Kirby is long overdue for an experiment like this. I never liked the bland 2.5D Kirby platformers, so this is exciting to me.
I mean, i respect your opinion, some Kirby games can be a bit bland in their presentation, but bland is a very bold statement for the series overall. Have you played Planet Robobot? It has a more unique aesthetic and the levels all follow a central theme that is very important to the story, with a very fun main gimmick and clever level design and puzzles, with even some plot twists and terrifying lore details. I really recommend it Overall, i'm a huuuge Kirby fan and this game cannot come sooner, but i like to respect each installment on its own, and although i agree that the 2.5D games are starting to become stale, i think they're all amazing games worth checking out, with Star Allies being a great celebration and finale to the 2.5D segment of the series.
@@gustavoduarte3507 I agree with you. Kirby definitely needed a refresh, but that doesn't mean the past few games aren't worth anyone's time. Some act as if every modern Kirby game is "New Super Mario Bros" levels of bland just because they're mechanically similar, but the "Return to Dream Land Quadrilogy" was significantly better about that. The 3DS games were definitely not bland from an aesthetical viewpoint (Planet Robobot has an obvious visual identity, but Triple Deluxe also has a light fairy tale vibe I enjoyed). Return to Dream Land also had some solid level backgrounds if you actually stopped to look at them, and even Star Allies had some cool looking environments in the second half. To me, the gameplay improved with each game (except for Star Allies, which at least still had the Friend Abilities and the Dream Friends to set it apart in some way), whether it be through the addition of multiple planes in Triple Deluxe or a more fulfilling gimmick (the Robobot). Each game also had their own unique villains/stories and types of music to help them stand apart from each other.
For me it was Mario. I never played a Kirby game until Kirby's Air Ride. That would forever be the only Kirby game I've played until the Switch where I played the Kirby games included with the virtual console. I don't know Kirby just never completely caught my interest even though I love the little puffball. This game however has my full interest and intrigue.
Strangely enough, but this game is actually what is highlight for me during this presentation. The warm feeling it emanates, just makes a heart arise! 😍
I'm getting serious Tom & Jerry vibes from the Mouthful Mode. Also, I imagine that this will unlock a lot more... Interesting fan art, especially with characters who are not Kirby...
Here are my favorite moments: 1.) Mouthful Mode is probably the best new mechanic in the Kirby franchise by far since it’s not just for secrets and invincibility but it’s very situational than the Hypernova and the Super Abilities. It’s also unsettling but also goofy which makes it such a wonderful addition. 2.)The enemies and bosses are really well designed. I adore the cartoony feel of the enemies and how they feel right at home in the Kirby universe like the armadillo and the cheetah. 3.) The themes that played in beginning and end are most likely gonna be the Beast Pack’s theme. I admire the upbeat and sinister music that takes place with them. I really hope that that specific music is the boss music or there theme music The worlds and atmosphere is amazing. HAL really nailed the idea of a post apocalyptic world and I am all here for it
The best new mechanic in the Kirby franchise i still think should be the Robobot Armor, since its inclusion is not only to discover secrets or to be even more powerful than you already are, but it's an extension of Kirby's moveset since it can also copy abilities, has amazing variety in its attacks and it's incredibly fun and satisfying overall. And that's not even saying how customisable it is with the Stickers that you find throughout the levels. There is no other new mechanic that will surpass it in my opinion, it is just that good. But the Mouthful Mode will surely be a close second

My most desired feature to return from Squeak Squad is definitely spray paints, though I highly doubt they'll bring the concept back due to some silly branding reasons. YES we know, Kirby's pink, but I WANT to paint him green, is that so wrong?

I definitely remember that ability. It is reminiscent of the Needle + Needle from Kirby 64. The stinger, cactus, and corkscrew parts gave it away.
Also I’m pretty sure this is the first game since 64 where kirby spits enemies out as themselves rather than star bullets.
The Fire Upgrade is also from 64, in 64 the Fire + Fire combination was a Fire Dragon.

Very exciting stuff, especially upgrading the copy abilities. Looks like Kirby's games are slowly getting more RPG elements added to them; Waddle Dee Town is like Kirby meets Suikoden to a degree. I hope he gets a true RPG of his own one day.

Plus it only has four job classes, so there isn't much variety beyond being a giant boss battle extravaganza. Mouthful mode. I am completely surprised, evolutions to classic copy abilities and so much more. And at least we knows how Kirby got to this forgotten land. Kirby seems to be getting more stronger and stronger with more moves and abilities in his arsenal. Mouthful mode, evolutions to copy abilities, etc. I’m so happy and excited for this game. And can we just talk about the cutscenes?
They're going all in on making Kirby as crazy and fun and varied as they can, while in a 3D setting.

As someone who just finished (and LOVED) Mario Odyssey, as well as interested in getting into the Kirby franchise, this seems like the perfect game for me. I'm so excited for this to come out!
I highly recommend playing Kirby's Return to Dream Land before you go into this one since that was one of if not the best kirby game so far while still having the good old 2d side scroller style, now this game right here will be THE ALL TIME BEST Kirby game, it looks a bit too fun lol, I'm sure that as a mario odyssey player you'll love it

This game is like a perfect combination of Air Ride’s exploration, and Crystal Shard’s experimenting with endless combinations of abilities. I would have been obsessed with this game as a kid.
Kirby is long overdue for an experiment like this. I never liked the bland 2.5D Kirby platformers, so this is exciting to me.
I mean, i respect your opinion, some Kirby games can be a bit bland in their presentation, but bland is a very bold statement for the series overall. Have you played Planet Robobot? It has a more unique aesthetic and the levels all follow a central theme that is very important to the story, with a very fun main gimmick and clever level design and puzzles, with even some plot twists and terrifying lore details. I really recommend it
Overall, i'm a huuuge Kirby fan and this game cannot come sooner, but i like to respect each installment on its own, and although i agree that the 2.5D games are starting to become stale, i think they're all amazing games worth checking out, with Star Allies being a great celebration and finale to the 2.5D segment of the series.

@@gustavoduarte3507 I agree with you. Kirby definitely needed a refresh, but that doesn't mean the past few games aren't worth anyone's time. Some act as if every modern Kirby game is "New Super Mario Bros" levels of bland just because they're mechanically similar, but the "Return to Dream Land Quadrilogy" was significantly better about that.
The 3DS games were definitely not bland from an aesthetical viewpoint (Planet Robobot has an obvious visual identity, but Triple Deluxe also has a light fairy tale vibe I enjoyed). Return to Dream Land also had some solid level backgrounds if you actually stopped to look at them, and even Star Allies had some cool looking environments in the second half. To me, the gameplay improved with each game (except for Star Allies, which at least still had the Friend Abilities and the Dream Friends to set it apart in some way), whether it be through the addition of multiple planes in Triple Deluxe or a more fulfilling gimmick (the Robobot). Each game also had their own unique villains/stories and types of music to help them stand apart from each other.

For me it was Mario. I never played a Kirby game until Kirby's Air Ride. That would forever be the only Kirby game I've played until the Switch where I played the Kirby games included with the virtual console. I don't know Kirby just never completely caught my interest even though I love the little puffball. This game however has my full interest and intrigue.

As with everything in Kirby, the answer is yes. Both of those things
Here are my favorite moments:
1.) Mouthful Mode is probably the best new mechanic in the Kirby franchise by far since it’s not just for secrets and invincibility but it’s very situational than the Hypernova and the Super Abilities. It’s also unsettling but also goofy which makes it such a wonderful addition.
2.)The enemies and bosses are really well designed. I adore the cartoony feel of the enemies and how they feel right at home in the Kirby universe like the armadillo and the cheetah.
3.) The themes that played in beginning and end are most likely gonna be the Beast Pack’s theme. I admire the upbeat and sinister music that takes place with them.
I really hope that that specific music is the boss music or there theme music

The best new mechanic in the Kirby franchise i still think should be the Robobot Armor, since its inclusion is not only to discover secrets or to be even more powerful than you already are, but it's an extension of Kirby's moveset since it can also copy abilities, has amazing variety in its attacks and it's incredibly fun and satisfying overall. And that's not even saying how customisable it is with the Stickers that you find throughout the levels. There is no other new mechanic that will surpass it in my opinion, it is just that good. But the Mouthful Mode will surely be a close second
