      I have put my name on a list at the local Toyota dealership for when the new Prius Prime comes in.
      Watching your video now raises two concerns. This nonsense about subscriptions will need to be looked at closely. The second thing is the car watching the driver's eyes for "inattention." That is a deal breaker if the system can't be omitted or, at the very least, deactivated.

    As someone who liked the Prium for what it was when it was social suicide to say so -
    I would say this is the strongest Prius yet, as one guy said it, it has put in Pazzas into Prius; but oddly one that came with the unnecessary compromises
    It is getting too expensive. That's the trend of the entire market. What made the Prius work was its use ability. Its elever ergonomic design inside and out that doesn't fall off and has proven not to have aged over the years, doesn't mean it had to feel crap.
    Style is good, but good style could always have been in any of the previous generations. But this 5tg gen has outrageous A-pillars. There are also compromise in not having a split rear window.
    And that a faster 2.0l Prius was always possible, that engine was sold in Corolla Estate wagons in the EU arou d 2018. A plug in hybrid was always possible since the 2000s.
    It should be glaring to us

    Great review! I'm excited to see this. Certainly an attractive car with great specs! You mentioned briefly about tires on this Prius Prime. That's one thing I'm concerned about - the wheel/tire dimensions seem a bit odd - large rims with very narrow tires. Most tire rim size I can find with 195mm tire width are 14" or 15" rims, but these are at least 17"; and for 17"-19" rim size, the width for most tires are at least 205-215mm. So would I have trouble finding the right size winter tires? Even for all-seasons, would my choices be limited to stock only? If I get winter tires WITH rims, how far can I stray from the stock dimensions, e.g. if I have a Prius with 19" all-seasons, can I go down (in rim size) to a 195/50 R16 or go up (in width) to a 215/50 R18 winter tire?

    We got a new Prius Prime Advanced back in 2017 and my only complaint is that it doesn't have enough miles per charge. Sure it gets what they said it would but why not at least 50 miles on the battery. Very nice car. Solid. Plenty of power. Comfortable, especially compared to our 2010 Prius which is a very good basic and reliable hybrid. I wish someone would come up with a Prius Prime kit that would do away with the gas motor and give it 300 miles range on a battery pack where there ICE resided. I'd pay 10 grand for that.

    • @readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444
      @readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only bad part about the Volt is its MPG in hybrid mode. The gen 2 could only manage 42 MPG while the 1st gen was a little less than that. A Prius or Prius prime is 20 mpg higher in gas/hybrid mode.

    • @matthewlibanio8227
      @matthewlibanio8227 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444 agreed it's lower MPG, but in real world driving my Prius I had to drive extremely efficiently to get the mpg numbers promised. The Volts mpg as many owners know, as I do too, is quite understated and 42 mpg is easily attainable on a second gen at very high speeds. I have seen 60 mpg in hybrid mode driving similarly to my Prius. But agreed this Prius is still an achievement in looks, spaciousness and range. Spaciousness wise, this Prime soundly beats the Volt. No question of that.

    • @readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444
      @readtherealanthonyfaucibyr6444 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@matthewlibanio8227 Gotcha I didn't know the gen 2 Volt's real world mileage was that good. Good to know. I've actually done pretty well with a gen 3 Prius. Averaged 58 mpg with one, 55 with another, the latter having a noticeably worn out battery. Both of these are summer gas MPG numbers, winter being 3-4 mpg lower. In regards to the new Prime beating the gen 2 Volt overall, sure it does, though it's several years newer and not necessarily a "fair" comparison. It's too bad Chevy axed it and is under EV-only hypnosis now. I've always been an EV fan but the idea of mandating them for everyone is nuts.
