Dude playing this game on the go is the best way to play it. Sitting in my car its so comforting being able to scream at bed of chaos without bothering anyone else
For all you newcomers, chose the Pendant, it is the best starting gift, and will allow you to get the best ending, and before you ask, no you can't get it later
Another hint: you'll need to hit *that* statue in Anor Londo with it in your inventory (or roll, forgot that is another way illusionary walls worked in DS1). You'll know the one.
One thing I really hope they keep intact is the gameplay and the feel of everything. Dark Souls 1 has a very distinct feel to it that neither DS2 or DS3 have. I'm not sure how to explain it but it just FELT better in a way. I really don't want them to slap the more weirdly fast paced and "looser" gameplay of DS3 on the remaster, especially since it wouldn't match the way the enemies are fought.
Thats the one thing I hope is changed completely, they should just mirror DS3's combat and movement. DS1 combat seems like slightly upgraded DS2 combat which in my opinion was total shit.
I think that sounds the way I thought the original Lara Croft and Res. Evil one were. After that they are not as moving and gripping. The originals open the door to the new and the rest just try to add to the length of the fair. Still get my money tho.
First one just feeled shitty. Or better to say, the World was cruel, the NPC were sad. You were weak and would die all over again. But in the second and third on I kinda missed it. Just look at how slow you are if you start as a Knight on the first one. Super slow and fatrolling gives you a feel aswell.
Ragna Koldor There's also a talking cat that heads a covenant about invading people who "trespass" in the Darkroot Garden. She's really well voice acted, too.
Poise, Parrying and the RTSR. It would be nice if some of the cooler spells/miracles/pyromancies/hexes from DS2 and DS3 were added though. The variety of SotFS is what keeps me coming back to it over and over.
Totally agree. One problem though: DS1 was built around the magic (well, more than the other games). The areas were all designed with the different playstyles in mind, making it accessible but still challenging for every possible build. As cool as it would be to have them, adding magic from the other games might fuck up that balance. Now, if they added the buff spells from the other game, that could work.
>DS1 was built around the magic >making it accessible but still challenging for every possible build You've used a pure Int build in DS1 right? There's a reason the Dark Souls community calls it the Dark Souls Easy Mode.
True, you become an absolute monster if you go pure Int, but it's balanced in that your sorceries start off shitty, your strength is abysmal, you have very limited ammo, etc. You don't become an unstoppable beast of a sorcerer until the mid-to-late game. Early game spellcasters are hopelessly weak so it balances out that way.
Early game sorceries, i.e. Magic Soul Arrow, one shots all of the firelink hollows, if you go full int. All of the melee weapons require either backstabs or ripostes in order to one shot those hollows, especially the armored one under the fire bomb thrower. The only other class that can match that is going deprived and putting all the souls from the Asylum into strength, then two handing the club and using a power attack. Which still leaves you in melee range, like every melee build, while the mage can sit 40ft away firing soul arrows from safety.
It's as Mike said really. It's a good game, but not as good as the other two. The workings of the combat system are a bit finicky, the bosses aren't as imaginative (half of them are just knights) and way too easy, and the areas are much more repetitve than in the other Dark souls games.
Dark Souls 2 is right behind Bloodborne my favorite game in the franchise tying with Demons Souls. Dark Souls 2 has very nicely paced combat, being better than Dark Souls, and Dark Souls 3, not having horrible back stab mechanics, I'd rather have a little worse of a hit box, than being back stabbed 10ft away, or having to roll every second, In whichever direction I can. Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Demons Souls, and Dark Souls 3 don't nearly have as many Items, and builds available. Dark Souls 2 combat makes you take cautious steps, as every movement is slow just like how rolling, and blocking would be In real life. My best experiences with combat systems is Dark Souls 2, Nioh, Demons Souls, and Bloodborne. I got to NG+8 on Bloodborne as difficult as it can get is ng+7. Dark Souls 2 has healing items making Estus more of an "just in case," helping to make it so you don't have to give up, and run back to the Bonfire to get healing.
How to EZ mode DS1 PvE: - stay hollow (unless kindling bonfire) - grass shield and/or cloranthy ring - dark grain ring - Edurance and Vitality “Safe zone ahead!”
I really hope that the release of the soundtrack on the Collectors Edition means that they will actually release them digitally so we don't have to download them ourselves in disreputable ways.
Actually the online for the original game still exists and is funcional, its just that not a whole lot of people play it anymore and the game constantly swaps servers but ive managed to invade and get invaded and getting summoned in anor londo to help out with O&S . Quite frequently
I lost it at "amazing chest ahead". This is one of the best games of all time, and I'm super excited to purchase a copy. Now, I just have to decide between the Switch and PC versions.
Buy the switch version if you love getting mad salty in public and don’t mind the sideways looks you’ll get when you get into a swearing match with your switch on the bus after a shitty death.
I wasn't aware that a third party was handling this remaster. I'm actually quite glad that's the case since From Software is kind of shit at performance optimization. Now I have hope that this remaster might be able to maintain a consistent 60fps instead of being more akin to an unlocked frame rate (like the Dark Souls III "Pro" patch).
The Spongy Mallard Dark Souls II had a pretty unstable frame rate on Xbox One. It was better on PS4, but there still many section that would cause huge frame drops. The only way to get it running at a stable 60fps was to play it on the Xbox One X or on the PS4 Pro with boost mode.
It was Andy. A series with any of them playing would probably be pretty painful to watch though, going by previous performance :S Be careful what you wish for :P
XD well soon we will need something to take the place of Marston Monday's so if they procrastinate like me, It could be a decent Idea lol. Plus i think it would be pretty funny to have Mike judge whoever is playing right up until he himself is in the fire.
I'm ready to poise tank people who have no idea what poise tanking is. Can't wait to flatten a rapier user who thinks they can stun lock like dark souls 3.
FatalxWolfsgrin Same though. I’m just worried the ds3 starters won’t know about the host having to sip due to summons not being able to. I’d like to keep my humanity for more than one summoning.
Yeah. Faithfulness to the original is one thing, but I'm pretty sure the DS fandom would be pretty ok if they did something to make that fight (and the rest of lost Izlath) a bit less shit.
I hope they fix it too, it's not a fight. All they need to do is drop the ground before you get to it a bit sooner. Having to think and not get hit with the birch arms is impossibly unfun and a cheap kill on the game's part.
I need to ask the most important question here: *WILL ORNSTEIN'S HELM HAVE THE PLUME?!?!?* (And cloth effects added?) Fashion Souls is the meta. Everyone knows looking cool is half the battle!
Remaster feature that would be the most Dark Souls thing ever: You beat the game, get through the DLC, all that jazz; When you are transported back to the first bonfire, there is a new out of the way path leading far down below, eventually, to a small rowboat sitting at the shore of a foggy lake. You get onto the rowboat, because why not. The boat then begins drifting into the fog. A loading screen occurs...how odd. You arrive to another fog-filled shore, except now there is a colossal castle barely visible in the distance, up above steep cliffs. More immediately in view, however, is a wooden sign planted at the edge of the shore's sandy wake. The sign is old, almost falling apart with cracks. It reads: "Kingdom of Boletaria."
Jane Doe As someone who always plays with a STR, or DEX build, being a mage is hard. I honestly quit the game as a mage because I wasn't used to it. Everything is way easier and much more fun with a Zweihander.
It's not that it's hard it's that its a frustrating and poor excuse for a boss fight. The worst part is that if you fuck up one step and get knocked down a hole you have to spend 2 minutes running back because there's no bonfire close to the boss room. Bed of Chaos can feel very luck based which is not what Dark souls is about, it should reward skill over luck. As for the Four Kings, they're not too bad, all you need is to wear heavy armour and deal damage quickly.
Henry Tims it's not hard, it's just frustrating to just get swiped to a hole, four kings are kinda frustrating as well but that mostly because what you have to go through to get to them
It's the easiest boss in the game, it's just poorly designed. Just like the entirety of Lost Izalith, the whole area is terrible. Here's to hoping they change it, they actually had to rush the whole area to completion due to a time and budget crunch. They clearly don't have to anymore, it's like the biggest game series around now.
So I know that this is a vain hope but I always wanted there to be branching story lines in Dark Souls. Maybe giving us the opportunity to save other characters we couldn't before and starting an entirely new side quest. Perhaps sparing Quelaag and then working with her as a chaos servant to cure her sister. That'd be fun.
Faith builds could easily be extremely fun and op lmao. Wraith of the Gods and Sunlight/Darkmoon Blade were monstrous in pvp. And it gave you the only way to heal if you invade (and can save you easily in pve). Not to mention the trolling potential of Force and Emit Force.
To all the newbies to the series, head my warning Dark souls 1 and hopefully the remastered will look down at you, eat you and spit you out, and keep doing so till you can conquer it
IMO, dark souls 2 was by far the hardest game in the series, those DLC areas were bullshit, in dark souls there are tricks and items that allows you to cheese encounters. if you want to move through the swamp you can wear the iron ring, you can kill the Capra demon with fire bombs by hurling them from outside the fog gate, sif can be killed with bow and arrow from outside the fog gate after he spawns, you can one shot ceaseless discharge, you can skip most of blight town if you pick skeleton key, even with Manus, you can use the pendant to block his dark attack. For dark souls 2, you had to brute force you way through levels and boss fight, there are also alot of areas where you just get mobbed, like the Bastille, leading up to the sentinel fight, and those optional bosses for the DLCs, just getting to them is massive pain in the butt. Oh and I almost forgot, you can kill gwyndolin with poison arrows, if you don’t walk to far forward after entering the fog gate, the boss won’t teleport or attack.
In the remaster, your worst enemies will be other players who already finished all other games and look to gank newbies. Be careful when you decide to restore humanity. Especially in the Darkroot Garden
DS2 was a pile of uninspired bosses and artificial difficulty. It wasn't hard in the right ways. It tedious and boring. Like you listed a few minor glitches in the game that not many people are gunna figure out anyway and act like they're how people beat the game every time. If you don't specifically try to cheese the bosses, they're way more interesting and challenging then DS2's heap of "Guy in Armour" or "Two Guys in Armour" bosses.
Min Lungelow That'd be awesome. Have something like runescape where some capes are for fashion while others actually give some sort of defensive/offensive boost. I wish they'd make runescape for ps4, old school tho like '04-'08 era...
Nuke Narwhal To make my comments clear. I am photophobia and allergic to sunlight, (mild, thankfully. I just get red and splotchy and feel icky). I play video games to escape, and a game that is like my real life, but with monsters trying to kill me doesn’t really appeal to me. I’ll stick with AC Syndicate thank you very much.
Tip: don't play it on switch unless you're rich, or have a controller instead of using the switch as well, because at least with the other options, you're not breaking the device you play it on
I was so disappointed, when the person who inspired me to play it (Mike) admitted that he never went past Ornstein and Smaug. I blocked the Xbox of my Girlfriend for around a week and shouted and screamed at the TV, especially during that boss battle. From the fire, run past (or kill) the guardians, through the fog and try not to be instakilled by Ornsteins dash-attack. Then in one of ten times, finally finish one of them off...to be killed by the now more powerful second one. Good times.
Tehnoobbrothers Poise is broken for enemies. There's absolutely no reason why the random hollow troopers in the Forest of Fallen Giants should be able to poise through most early game weapons, it's total bs. Making dodging almosy completely reliant on leveling up a certain attribute is just stupid to me. Dodging is a main gameplay feature in all Soulsborne games, and the fact that it's close to useless in 2 unless you pour levels into adaptation, is counter intuitive to a skill based combat system. I know you already mentioned that level design is horrid, but it needs to he said again, especially when 1, bloodborne, and 3, have such good level design. Also, I know graphics aren't everything, but a lot of Dark Souls 2 somehow manages to look worse than 1.
Having to level up dodging is actually helping a skill based combat system, as it only gets easier when you level it up whereas you already start with decent invincibility frames in all other games. Dodging in Dark Souls 2 is the most skilled mechanic in every Souls game. Only 1 and Bloodborne had really great level design. Dark Souls 3 is quite lacking compared to its predecessors and although Dark Souls 2 didn't have great level design either, it at least had more original areas, and the combat system mechanically is the most diverse of any Souls game. I'm only defending against the points I see counters to, mostly everything else I do agree with.
but... it was meant to be that way sotfs is best proof of that since mostly since most of it was just puzzles it was something different that your usual going through the area but now other than your nimble fingers placed firmly on your controller you were also in need of analitical mind to solve the puzzles which also shows in boss fights, and every single one of them makes sense if you think about it strong arm alone wont get you anywhere if you dont come up with something to deal with multiple enemies too, if its a boss fight with multiple regular enemies as it is another way of testing the player how can he use enviroment to his advantage or weaponry on his disposal to get out of the pickle he is in sure, i can agree with some things being stupid like you guys mentioned but not in the entirety broken poise for enemies in low level area? sure, thats bad, i can agree with that but the problem here is not poise itself but the way mobs had their stats placed also what kind of argument is that certain part of combat system is reliant on one stat and its stupid cause of that i could say the same about hp being stupid cause you need to level it up to survive hits from more dangerous enemies what about str/dex, stupid as well, you have to level it up to hit stronger see what i mean? about the graphics of ds2. it may look lil bad, even compared to ds1, okay, i can take that, low-q textures, clunky models in places etc etc but did you know that it was not supposed to be like that? it had amazing graphics in its pre-released state but it was reverted due to concerns about consoles handling it (or rather not handling it) since it could result in creating another fps nightmare like blighttown, and we can both agree on that no amount of deaths is equal to the frustration random fps drop can cause, especially when you are making that important jump or are in the middle of combat with your life on the line, developers just chose lesser evil of the two as for level design it is up to you guys to decide, everyone has different experiences with the game and how they feel about it, but i aint gonna lie, they couldve done a better job there, at least they could pretend areas that are literally next to each other are somehow logically connected, so i give a pass on this one
Its still visually not impressive, because Dark Souls 1 doesn't look good enitrely because of its graphical technology but because of the art direction. Some may argue that Dark Souls 1 looks better than Dark Souls 3 despite Dark Souls 3's superior engine and in a lot of places it does actually look better. Dark Souls 2 had its graphics rolled back but that's not entirely in its favour, considering that the re-release of SotFS could have tweaked that for the new generation of consoles that were released at the time. Also the other guy's argument was that you didn't have to level up rolling in other games that established it from the get go, like leveling up strength or dex to hit harder. This was a change that was unwelcome to people was his point, he's not (at least I'm assuming) that he's not hating on the concept of tying a stat to a level. Either way I advocate that tying rolling to a stat was a good thing. Not better, but good. Dark Souls 2 does have a habit of ganking you a lot. The Skeleton Lords were atrocious, though easy. Ruin Sentinels in contrast though is great. Ganking is only a problem if its replacing room for better design, which Skeleton Lords did as the Lords themselves have a pretty limited moveset, and even areas like Freja had those fluffing spiders (but if you used a torch they wouldn't attack you, which is nice). etc. But ganks are still bad. Ruin Sentinels did it alright but then when you have to fight respawnables of them in the castle later on in the game it becomes tedious and it becomes impossible to fight them in melee unless you abuse their aggro ranges, and that stupid Rat Authority with its rats although making sense doesn't really have a suitable counter for a non-magic based character. The ganks though a bit retardant did have the fix of having them not respawn after a fixed amount of deaths, which was alright unless you wanted to farm them. Overall the ganks were just bad. Even so, Dark Souls 2 is a better Dark Souls game than 3 was in terms of its PvE. Dark Souls 3 has arguably better level design and cooler bosses, Dark Souls 2 has everything else.
I Polaris I They don't. Go to DS2 and DS3 subreddits, they all don't hate it. For most users, it's an even split about which Soulsborne is the best. Most people who hate DS2 are people with nostalgia glasses. It has flaws for sure, but people like to sweep DS1's flaws under the rug when talking about it (for example the bullshit backstabs in PVP, and the entirety of Izalith). As for TH-cam videos, it's again, a mix. Concerning user reviews on Steam, all the games are 9/10 on average.
Very few people hate DkS2 now. When DkS2 was released people loved it. Then a few months later people hated it. Then SotFS got released and roughly half loved it and half hated it. Now people generally like it.
or just parry (don't need an ennmy just do the animation) , while the animation of parry still going you use item with a "Yes - No box" (souls of *boss* / Fire keeper souls) and press start (menu) then use darksign (cause it's free) and it'll write "do you want to use souls of *boss*" , press yes and get free souls without consuming anything.
I never got to fully finish DS1 since my disk literally exploded in my xbox (seriously, I died a lot) so I'm beyond hyped to finally be able to finish this game. Been playing the DS3 DLCs lately to get hyped again.
The game kinda already has one. I guess you could play as a sorcerer. That makes a lot of the challenge trivial as "it's like playing a 3rd person Shooter where you're the only one with a gun" -Joseph Anderson
I would love a Jolly Cooperation series where Jane, Andy, Luke and Ellen use the expanded multiplayer to co-op through the remaster, with Mike as their guide/loremaster/troll who gets them eaten by mimics.
Time to refresh my memory and find the shortcut by getting the door key as early gift and run straight down to activate illusory wall and run down to the lake and get the dragonhead. This game brings back so much memories.
I've just started the prepare to die addition, the only flaw with that game is my ability to fall off edges. Seriously 80% of my deaths are falling. Great game.
All i am hoping for is people to realize that the grass crest shield is useless during most boss fights unless you perfect your dodging, so many people seem to believe that it is perfect at all times and then complain that shields don't work well. Silver knight shield is by far superior in a serious battle.
I was on Xbox one and I played scholar of the first sin and 3 with the DLC but I always wanted to play the first one (excluding demon souls) so once I moved to PC I was going to get it but now that I see this. I think I'll wait a little longer and hope they don't screw something up.
Steam has a policy where if you play a game for under an hour or two, you can get a refund within two weeks of purchase. If nothing else, try out either Souls 2 or 3 to see if this kind of game appeals to you. 2 is closer to the playstyle of 1, but 3 is closer to its atmosphere. 3 also starts with one of the hardest early game bosses you're actually expected to defeat and then goes easier for a while, giving a nice preview of things to come.
Gideon Henstra you should give it a go. but don't treat every attack the same. in the words of uniqueanimeosaurus : "if you do this in dark souls you are going to be strangled by your own sphincter."
I was introduced to as a joke to see my reaction and never got passed the grave yard. A few months later I was craving an rpg so I searched around the Xbox online store and went back to darksouls and fell in love. One thing I ABSOLUTELY ADORED! Was the “painting of ariamus” one thing I noticed the first time playing it seriously was how bleak it was. The bleak setting and maddening people seemed like my life at the time. Darksouls made me realize I wasn’t the only one and that people understand and this helped me a lot.
I like Dark Souls 1 as they are, in my mind remaster is unnecessary but not in any way unwanted + I like that Polish studio is involved we (Polish) are very good at POLISHING things (terrible I know but I could,t help myself)
Lovely to see him in full Stone armor and Drake sword in hand. It's like the game is about to get released for the first time, and everybody is a noob. After having played the game a thousand hours, it's a nice, nostalgic feeling. Hype!
The more important question - are they gonna fix stored rolls, and that glitch where you roll in an entirely different direction from where your stick is pointing?
>Fat roll
>Drake sword
you have been diagnosed with CASUL
jhony - Basic as fuuuuuuuuuck
>elite knight armour
No armour\antiquated dress and broken sword...pro
Please *never* correct your grammar in this comment
What I'd like is more item drop from the hollows I kill like they're really good beginner shield I've been trying to get one of their Shields but it's like a Gamble
No blighttown has to be the same. It won't be blighttown if I can play it
Talking Rock yeah, anything above 15 fps is too much change.
Talking Rock Miyazaki actually coded in the bad frame rate himself. Its supposed to be part of the challenge.
It better break my xbox or my money back
i mean my characters are always so op it only takes 2 hits to kill the toxic club dudes so even though its so much of a pain i get trhough it in 30 minutes
The bad frame rate is actually part of the lore.
Izalith in 60 FPS and 4k: "MY EYES"
Snacks Ahoy The lava will burn through the backs of our skulls!
Hjm
More like "lost eye strain"
You do know that Lost Izalith was never finished right? That was a placeholder lava texture From never fixed.
Al Zanfardino Yea already did.
“ it will have better graphics if your playing on Xbox one x or pc”
Me: laughed in Nintendo switch
Dude playing this game on the go is the best way to play it. Sitting in my car its so comforting being able to scream at bed of chaos without bothering anyone else
Remember guys, Dark Souls already HAS an easy mode: Co-Op.
yeah? ever tried co-op without mods? it is painful...
then U get double invaded by Darkmoons above your level and guder than ya!
you mean sorcerer build
Also cloud saves
Me who refuses to pay for Nintendo Switch Online: 😞
I'm honestly excited to fat roll with hd rumble the entire game.
They better keep the damn meaty heavy armor footstep sounds instead of replacing with the wimpy ones from ds3
NYESSS
They only sound meaty if you have a lot of armor on.
Joseph Willems That's the whole point
Chainmail sound is painful though. (Eastern Armor)
Clock-click, clock-click, clock-click, clock-click...
The hardest challenge: don't be heartbroken when you see Sif when he only has a sliver of life left.

Sif is a female name but if that's your basis try explaining Gwyndolin.
Even it's 60FPS, Blighttown will always bring the game down to 15FPS.
not on pc
Jordan Tyhiyo sadly it carshs everytime i go to blighttown every now and then
Aureo we'll see
Blighttown is fine on pc. Runs an easy 60fps.
Jordan Tyhiyo playing the game in 60fps on PC creates a bunch of glitches, so stop acting like an elitist. PC isn't perfect.
About to do a Blind playthrough myself for the first time in DS3. Gonna be a great warmup for another round of DS1! :D
haven't i seen you comment this same thing earlier?
For all you newcomers, chose the Pendant, it is the best starting gift, and will allow you to get the best ending, and before you ask, no you can't get it later
lmao
Another hint: you'll need to hit *that* statue in Anor Londo with it in your inventory (or roll, forgot that is another way illusionary walls worked in DS1). You'll know the one.

TheRupertLitterbin well let me be the first person to give you a great and early "git gud"
Git gud scrub (in sweet 60fps 4k resolution)
TheRupertLitterbin Friend, choosing to even take on this game makes you a winner!

Be wary of enemy therefore try git gud
TheRupertLitterbin Try tongue but hole....in 4K
My question, will black iron Tarkus still be a fucking badass 🤔
DeathlikeCoast2 That's not a question
I was wondering that too; I hope they don't nerf him.
Does Gwynevere have an amazing chest?
TARKUS! TARKUS!
I find it complete bullshit that tarkus would have fallen of a ledge with those painting guardians. Gravity cant kill tarkus!
Try thrust,
but Hole
Try tongue but hole

One thing I really hope they keep intact is the gameplay and the feel of everything. Dark Souls 1 has a very distinct feel to it that neither DS2 or DS3 have. you couldn't have said it any better. i love the feel and storyline of the original

Giant dad will "well what is it" across lordran once more!
Poor people buying the remaster first time, to meet giantdaddies sword
I don't think this is a good game to play while traveling. That being said, I support the idea of the switch version
until the game makes you hurl the switch out of frustration
It's actually good while waiting at a airport or on a long plane ride
Dark Souls on the bus...
Passenger: "FUCK!!"
Switch: *windowed*
Pedestrian: "Hey, free switch!"
And then the cycle repeats
Lol LMAO
Seth Crawford LMAO Ikr? I'd be one of those people too, don't feel bad. I'll be falling off of roofs galore, and I HATE THAT!!
Doctor Claw hahahah great first comment OMG so good
See iv got ps4, switch and PC and I don't know what to get it on I'm so conflicted this is a hard chocie
I guess you really have to make Andy keep his promise now. We want a 100% completion.
A 3+ playthrough (to get all of Artorious' stuff from Sif's soul)? Awesome!
Talking mushroom? Named Elizabeth? Definitely sold on this game.
Ragna Koldor There's also a talking cat that heads a covenant about invading people who "trespass" in the Darkroot Garden. She's really well voice acted, too.
And a area of happy mushroom men walking around having a game of kiss chase! Right next to the talking cat!
But you get to murder mushroom children later too.
You can also eat her mushrooms as one of the best healing items in the game. ;)
The murder mushrooms who punch you down the great tree.
Sadness ahead.
A boxed set?! Amazing chest ahead indeed.
Beware, it can be mimic.
milo D. I'll make sure I have my Lloyd's Talismans.
As long as they don't fuck up poise and parrying, we're good.
>DS1 was built around the magic
>making it accessible but still challenging for every possible build
You've used a pure Int build in DS1 right?
"Why does everyone keep backstabbing me?!"
"Cuz it's easy... and it does a lot of damage."
"And that Dark Souls 2 disc will make an excellent coaster". Mike has really gotten into the fanbase then, G8 job M8, R8 8/8
Jeff Mathews is there really something wrong with darksouls 2? I bought it when it was on sale on steam and I like it
It's as Mike said really. It's a good game, but not as good as the other two. The workings of the combat system are a bit finicky, the bosses aren't as imaginative (half of them are just knights) and way too easy, and the areas are much more repetitve than in the other Dark souls games.
Better than Dark souls 3, You don't have to roll every second, and have time to think out your battles, as the combat is nicely paced
Cough Cough. Lots of people don't think that. "And that Dark Souls 2 disc will make an excellent coaster."
Glorious chest ahead
in 4k! Praise the Sun!
But Hole
Try holding with both hands
i REALLY hope they fix lost izalith
roch charron You deserve more Upvotes, Sir.
roch charron its only a remaster. No level changes
More importantly, they better fix backstabs, weapon move sets, and the sniper crossbow in it's entirety
Yeah, because visually induced headaches from neon orange lava is definitely something that needs to be faithfully recreated...
What are you all talking about, not being able to see anything but bright orange lava just adds to the difficulty. ;)
I really just want demon souls again, honestly for me they don't even need to remaster it, I'm good with the glitches and bugs
Korg buy it on ps3 with psn. And play it with this awthul ps3 Controller so you can die more often.
On Ps3 the servers are about to get shut down. So, the game needs a remaster too.
Korg honestly I was hoping for Demon's souls remaster but that they added the giant's archstone as a world to explore. Would be so cool imo
Bobby Fischer servers on demon souls got terminated, made me sad when I seen that when I opened demon souls in my PS3, sad to see a good game dead
Yes, Demon’s Souls!!
6 things we already knew the day the remaster was announced. *slowclap*
Anor londo is gonna look sick
me too apart from oas
your easy its your bro who is op
okay your wife needs to be changed to get to my wifeul
who has the lords nessul
We already saw it in Dark Souls 3
I can't wait to put an "Amazing Chest Ahead" & "Try holding with both hands" messages in front of Gwinevere's chamber.
I think we can all agree that we are excited for HD fluffy tail amirite?
yes
YES YES YES YES YES
This goes without saying
Bailey
Ultra hype for the fluffy tail
OH YAAA BABY
An easy mode? Come on guys, what do we look like, skrubs?
there is an easy mode
it's called summoning
How to EZ mode DS1 PvE:
- stay hollow (unless kindling bonfire)
- grass shield and/or cloranthy ring
- dark grain ring
- Edurance and Vitality
“Safe zone ahead!”
Joshua Xiong Totally haven’t done every single one of these things on most of my ds1 characters...
They must take us for casuals
An easy mode? I thought that's what DS2 was?
Note that all the gameplay includes the Drake Sword, the ultimate noob weapon.
at a certain point it actually becomes a challenge weapon, you can use it in the DLC or later stages for a good challenge run...
True, but I doubt that they were going for a challenge run for the footage. I could be wrong though.
they had a zweihander at some points lol.
Na ur right he’s fat rolling the whole time🤦🏻♂️
Standard Comestible, basic as fuuuuuuuuuck
I really hope that the release of the soundtrack on the Collectors Edition means that they will actually release them digitally so we don't have to download them ourselves in disreputable ways.
Soooo... Nintendo Switch shuriken?
Hahaha😂
😂😂💀
See I have a switch and am tempted to try Dark Souls. But I'm also bad at combat. Hmm.
There are cute little baby mushrooms that will hug you though, and trip if they take too many steps forward. They are adorable.
Lucas M you've just convinced me good sir.
there is also a talking cat
Don't get it on Switch, it'll be an inferior port of the PS4/Xbox One version.
Caitlin RC
Git gud
To be honest I'm mostly looking forward to play this game Online since I have only recently baught this on PS3 and there is no online anymore.
Actually the online for the original game still exists and is funcional, its just that not a whole lot of people play it anymore and the game constantly swaps servers but ive managed to invade and get invaded and getting summoned in anor londo to help out with O&S . Quite frequently
Online works on ps3 2022
They should do this for Demon Souls!!!
Justus Slootstra GOD NO
Demon's Souls is an awful game.
Idk why I'm still playing it, though. It's flawed but it's a Souls game I've yet to finish.
@Octosquid Enormously Not gonna happen, Sony owns the IP. Same with Bloodborne.
@@blindwanderer2314 nah it's the first soul game It's not awful !!
Welp boys it’s being made 😌
I lost it at "amazing chest ahead". This is one of the best games of all time, and I'm super excited to purchase a copy. Now, I just have to decide between the Switch and PC versions.
William Taylor why not both??
Ecks Dhee ... you're a genius!
Buy the switch version if you love getting mad salty in public and don’t mind the sideways looks you’ll get when you get into a swearing match with your switch on the bus after a shitty death.
Ultra Instinct Goku like the beloved original
I wasn't aware that a third party was handling this remaster. I'm actually quite glad that's the case since From Software is kind of shit at performance optimization.
Now I have hope that this remaster might be able to maintain a consistent 60fps instead of being more akin to an unlocked frame rate (like the Dark Souls III "Pro" patch).
DS2 Scholar of the First Sin runs at 60FPS, I don't see why DS1 wouldn't just as easily.
That's nice and all, but it still plays worse than trying to build a Lego Death Star with oven mitts over your prosthetic hands.
I don't remember who, but I think it was Luke who promised Mike he would play it if it got remastered, Make it a series!
Prepare for the longest LP on TH-cam!
*Falls off the elevator with 30k souls and 19 humanity in 4k* Naisu!
30k isn't worth shit
I'm ready to poise tank people who have no idea what poise tanking is. Can't wait to flatten a rapier user who thinks they can stun lock like dark souls 3.
FatalxWolfsgrin Same though. I’m just worried the ds3 starters won’t know about the host having to sip due to summons not being able to. I’d like to keep my humanity for more than one summoning.
i have made people quit with my poise tanking skills. love it
BACKSTAB BACKSTAB BACKSTAB BACKSTAB
Question; I never played ds3 multiplayer, did they get rid of soul memory?
If you can't fast roll, every single person you fight will fish for backstabs. Save yourself some torture
OH SHIT I NEED THOSE BOOK ENDS
Those truly are awesome looking.
I'm personally hoping for less bed of chaos. The semi-random falling off a cliff didn't exactly make for an exciting boss fight.
Daniel Hounshell i doubt they would change anything.
Yeah. Faithfulness to the original is one thing, but I'm pretty sure the DS fandom would be pretty ok if they did something to make that fight (and the rest of lost Izlath) a bit less shit.
Jeeez git good! The bed of chaos was mad easy
I hope they fix it too, it's not a fight. All they need to do is drop the ground before you get to it a bit sooner. Having to think and not get hit with the birch arms is impossibly unfun and a cheap kill on the game's part.
Not gonna happen
They are not from software, they can't make such big changes as changing a bossfight, it's a remaster, not a remake
I need to ask the most important question here: *WILL ORNSTEIN'S HELM HAVE THE PLUME?!?!?*
(And cloth effects added?)
Fashion Souls is the meta. Everyone knows looking cool is half the battle!
"That Dark Souls II disc will make an excellent coaster"
Very nice.
Remaster feature that would be the most Dark Souls thing ever:
You beat the game, get through the DLC, all that jazz; When you are transported back to the first bonfire, there is a new out of the way path leading far down below, eventually, to a small rowboat sitting at the shore of a foggy lake.
The game already has an easy mode... play as a mage
Or a pyromancer.
Or a full tank using fire/lightning infused weapons.
Jane Doe right crystal soul spear or dark bead can basically two shot all bosses lol I love DS 1 magic.
Jane Doe Some melee weapons are also easy mode.
Link NebulaCat or weapon buffs, SLB CMW DMB all will result in easy win lol.
Jane Doe As someone who always plays with a STR, or DEX build, being a mage is hard. I honestly quit the game as a mage because I wasn't used to it. Everything is way easier and much more fun with a Zweihander.
I want them to remove the bed of Chaos and replace it with an actual boss. But that would require actual effort so we know it wont happen :(
It's not that it's hard it's that its a frustrating and poor excuse for a boss fight.
Henry Tims yes but even from has acknowledged that it was unfinished. I want to see what they could do if they put more than 0 effort into making it
Henry Tims it's not hard, it's just frustrating to just get swiped to a hole, four kings are kinda frustrating as well but that mostly because what you have to go through to get to them
Four kings was one those extremely lucky fights i beat first time, the whole time being afraid of falling off an edge that didnt exist
Praise the SUUUUUUUUN
\o/

\o-o/ (Has no idea what's happening, but goes along with it)
Why do people still pronounce it Ee-zalith when characters in-game pronounce it like Eye-zalith?
Ikr it grinds my gears
Who says Ee-zalith? Never hear that one before.
Unixee prolly haven't watched many dark souls videos. People say it all the time
The Hawk fair enough, I do watch a lot of dark souls vids but not with volume.
Is it an accent thing?
Number one do not try to blame any broken keyboreds or mice or monitors on the difficulty of the game the disclaimer says it all
So I know that this is a vain hope but I always wanted there to be branching story lines in Dark Souls. Maybe giving us the opportunity to save other characters we couldn't before and starting an entirely new side quest.
Perhaps sparing Quelaag and then working with her as a chaos servant to cure her sister. That'd be fun.
2 things I really want to know.
Will faith builds be relevant?
Will poise work as intended(for real this time)?
Is this supposed to be sarcastic or are you really asking this
GenerAhuk Cap I'm really asking.
Tehnoobbrothers it was somewhat the same in Demon Souls, though I find its better in Dark Souls 1
Will resistance be useful?
To all the newbies to the series, head my warning
Dark souls 1 and hopefully the remastered will look down at you, eat you and spit you out, and keep doing so till you can conquer it
Liar ahead.
Choose the pendant as your starting gift. There's a real trippy side quest you need it for in tomb of the giants.
Polish people always polish their games
So now we can play on the toilet? Well, at least we will be on the toilet when we get the crap beaten out of us. Hehehe see what I did there?
i see what you did there XD
I don’t get it
Crap beaten out of us. While you're on the Toliet.
+NextGenesis88 c'mon.
Hierkönnteeinnamestehen I still don’t get it. Could you maybe explain in more detail?
NextGenesis88 1 year late but shit
I want cape physics
Min Lungelow That'd be awesome. Have something like runescape where some capes are for fashion while others actually give some sort of defensive/offensive boost. I wish they'd make runescape for ps4, old school tho like '04-'08 era...
Not sure this game is for me. Do they have a Light Souls? Or a Bright Cheerful Just a Great Day Souls!?
nope
P-Y Osei Mensah
Drat! I seem to have wandered into the wrong genre. Can anyone direct me towards Her Majesty’s Spiffing?
there is a dog and a talking cat ang goofy mushroom people
Trust me its not as hard as you think, you can always just have your friends help you as well. Once you learn a boss beating it isn't that hard.
Nuke Narwhal
To make my comments clear. I am photophobia and allergic to sunlight, (mild, thankfully. I just get red and splotchy and feel icky). I play video games to escape, and a game that is like my real life, but with monsters trying to kill me doesn’t really appeal to me. I’ll stick with AC Syndicate thank you very much.
a poll with serious answers??
*unacceptable!*
Really like how all the DLC is included. Finally, for once, a "complete" game for the initial price
Tip: don't play it on switch unless you're rich, or have a controller instead of using the switch as well, because at least with the other options, you're not breaking the device you play it on
I really wish they had done Demon Souls.
Thodnern ikr
They can't as demon souls is owned by Sony
It's Sony's choice to remaster any IP they own
still PS4 remaster for this amazing game, I'm for it
I was so disappointed, when the person who inspired me to play it (Mike) admitted that he never went past Ornstein and Smaug. Good times.
i really dont get the hate on dark souls 2
Play through Dark Souls 3 a few times, then try going back to 2. DS2 actually used to be my favorite. Now I can't stand it.
but... it was meant to be that way
sotfs is best proof of that since mostly since most of it was just puzzles
it was something different that your usual going through the area but now other than your nimble fingers placed firmly on your controller you were also in need of analitical mind to solve the puzzles which also shows in boss fights, and every single one of them makes sense if you think about it
strong arm alone wont get you anywhere if you dont come up with something to deal with multiple enemies too, if its a boss fight with multiple regular enemies as it is another way of testing the player how can he use enviroment to his advantage or weaponry on his disposal to get out of the pickle he is in
sure, i can agree with some things being stupid like you guys mentioned but not in the entirety
broken poise for enemies in low level area? sure, thats bad, i can agree with that
but the problem here is not poise itself but the way mobs had their stats placed
also what kind of argument is that certain part of combat system is reliant on one stat and its stupid cause of that
i could say the same about hp being stupid cause you need to level it up to survive hits from more dangerous enemies
what about str/dex, stupid as well, you have to level it up to hit stronger
see what i mean?
about the graphics of ds2. it may look lil bad, even compared to ds1, okay, i can take that, low-q textures, clunky models in places etc etc
but did you know that it was not supposed to be like that? it had amazing graphics in its pre-released state but it was reverted due to concerns about consoles handling it (or rather not handling it) since it could result in creating another fps nightmare like blighttown, and we can both agree on that no amount of deaths is equal to the frustration random fps drop can cause, especially when you are making that important jump or are in the middle of combat with your life on the line, developers just chose lesser evil of the two
as for level design it is up to you guys to decide, everyone has different experiences with the game and how they feel about it, but i aint gonna lie, they couldve done a better job there, at least they could pretend areas that are literally next to each other are somehow logically connected, so i give a pass on this one
Why does everyone hate on Dark Souls 2?
I Polaris I the hitboxes
I Polaris I They don't. Go to DS2 and DS3 subreddits, they all don't hate it. For most users, it's an even split about which Soulsborne is the best. Most people who hate DS2 are people with nostalgia glasses. It has flaws for sure, but people like to sweep DS1's flaws under the rug when talking about it (for example the bullshit backstabs in PVP, and the entirety of Izalith). As for TH-cam videos, it's again, a mix. Concerning user reviews on Steam, all the games are 9/10 on average.
RayzeTheDragon Ahh, ok
Usually I see people say that they like Dks2 more out of all the Souls games.
Very few people hate DkS2 now. When DkS2 was released people loved it. Then a few months later people hated it. Then SotFS got released and roughly half loved it and half hated it. Now people generally like it.
Was half watching and mostly listening while eating, thought the video sounded like an Outsidexbox video which I like. Which it turns out it is!
...Did Andy agree to play Dark Souls?
Taracinablue Yes - but he may not know it yet...
I think this will be the first triple A RPG that I have ever owned, that I paid full price for, and that I beat in two and a half hours.
Chris Jackson lol two and a half hours to get out of the starter zone
Chris Jackson Two and a half hours is about my fastest time so far. Without the glitch skips of course, there's no fun in those.
I can give you a few pointers if you are having a hard time with it.
Ceaseless Glitch is hard as fuck, also the Seath Skip
But can you still glitch humanity and souls?
Obama Care Ik if it’s in the game I’m still gonna use it
Isaiah Daniels same
Obama Care wait how do you glitch humanity?
Ratih Sanitri smack a wall with a sword, use, it then as animation is happening quickly open inventory and slurp estus flask
or just parry (don't need an ennmy just do the animation) , while the animation of parry still going you use item with a "Yes - No box" (souls of *boss* / Fire keeper souls) and press start (menu) then use darksign (cause it's free) and it'll write "do you want to use souls of *boss*" , press yes and get free souls without consuming anything.
I never got to fully finish DS1 since my disk literally exploded in my xbox (seriously, I died a lot) so I'm beyond hyped to finally be able to finish this game. Been playing the DS3 DLCs lately to get hyped again.
Can't wait to see what Blight Town looks like.
We don't need a easy mode haha
The game kinda already has one. I guess you could play as a sorcerer. That makes a lot of the challenge trivial as "it's like playing a 3rd person Shooter where you're the only one with a gun"
-Joseph Anderson
Summons and magic. Thats your easy mode.
To be fair Magic isn't that great inless your trolling other new players haha
I laughed so much when I heard him saying easy mode
Fraser Souris that's odd cause while some things are easy as a mage in ds2 the rest of the game shits on that.
I can die again remastered
prepare to die... remastered
I feel like fixing the awfulness of Blighttown would be like taking out a major character from the game
i know right
I've just started the prepare to die addition, the only flaw with that game is my ability to fall off edges. Seriously 80% of my deaths are falling. Great game.
Gravity is the strongest weapon. Especially against hackers with infinite health.
People claim that Dark souls 2 and 3 are easier than the first, I just think that there are less edges to fall off.
My one question: "Can we have BEARDS?"
I wont get this not cause i hate ds, but because I've done my time and dont think my mind, body and soul can take that punishment again.
Who knew going Hollow was a real-life thing?
...Aside from Dark Souls players, I mean.
Feeling a little crestfallen I see...
thing is, there is no escape, you will suffer in another, a spiritual successor or sequel, death awaits all.
I'm interested in how the speedrun will change. What glitches will stick around and which will disappear.
awww someone turned into hollow... go get humanity and get restored and fight back! LMAO
I heard you can't roll in 8 directions in original, so i'm hoping they put it
All i am hoping for is people to realize that the grass crest shield is useless during most boss fights unless you perfect your dodging, so many people seem to believe that it is perfect at all times and then complain that shields don't work well.
The lonely Otaku you can buy it on the Xbox 360 store then download it on the One.
That would have been good to know but I'm on PC now so. I guess I'll just wait on the steam summer sale.
Guess I will have to GIT GUD again.
Weaste Lander Did I ever tell you the definition of insanity?
Weaste Lander Prepare to Git Gud edition.
I've never played a darksouls game. Should I get this to try it out
Absolutely. If you're not used to these kind of these games, they require some patience though, it's not for everyone.
If you know how to wait and attack things until you learn parrying or other techniques yes. If your impatient and try to ignore everything not so much
Steam has a policy where if you play a game for under an hour or two, you can get a refund within two weeks of purchase.
Yes, but you need a will of iron (and maybe a guide) to get over the difficulty spike on arrival at Lordran
I do hope they fix the very low poly trees and some of the very low res textures c:
Also being able to play at 60 fps without drawbacks is nice.
where do i throw my wallet?
Just throw it to me, ill take good care of it
Like we didnt die enought times already.
VAAS IS NUTZ Did I ever tell you the definition of awkward?
Time for courage,
In short
Not this again!?
I like Dark Souls 1 as they are, in my mind remaster is unnecessary but not in any way unwanted + I like that Polish studio is involved we (Polish) are very good at POLISHING things (terrible I know but I could,t help myself)
Lovely to see him in full Stone armor and Drake sword in hand. It's like the game is about to get released for the first time, and everybody is a noob.
After having played the game a thousand hours, it's a nice, nostalgic feeling. Hype!
I'm just going to count, from here on out til this is released, how many times Mike says "Now you have to play" or encourages people to play the game
That would make for a fun (but liver shattering) drinking game.
*slowly lowers drink* do you think it would give me caffine poisoning? *slowly reaches for coffee*
Jess Boyle I wouldn't expect to sleep much if you play the coffee dlc...
izalith was literally just rushed i cant wait to see it remastered
The Legend

The more important question - are they gonna fix stored rolls, and that glitch where you roll in an entirely different direction from where your stick is pointing?
Then we find out it looked identical to the original just with anfew updated mechanics
