    I love the back to basics. I needed this. Get those scragglers lol I love it. Your cuticles always look amazing. Do you ever use anything other than the buffer?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lollll those darn little pieces that hang on the side ! So depending on how they look after buffing, I will also run a nail file around the edges too if it’s needed. Today’s mani seemed okay after just buffing but if it doesn’t then I use the 180 grit file to clean up some more. Your application always looks flawless too! You definitely don’t need any advice from me lol!

    This video is very helpful!! Do you only encapsulate glitter nails vs all of them?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have definitely changed my normal dipping routine over the years. Previously, for solid colors I would do 3 dips of color. And glitters were 2 dips and 1 dip clear. Now, I do 2 dips of solid colors and 1 dip clear (same for glitter). I ultimately decided to start encapsulating everything because I was tired of clouding/ruining colors during file/buff process 😆 each brand and solid color behaves differently so as a precaution I decided to just encapsulate everything. It was really frustrating when it would randomly buff off color or cloud. 💖

  • @lesiagonzalez4407
    @lesiagonzalez4407 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I'm new to dip and this was very helpful. Just a quick question. I've seen on many videos that most people will say after they have dipped (before top coat) they file the side walls and shape like you did, but that they also file the top of the nail bed and do a "cuticle clean up" usually using an e-file. I didn't see that you filed the top (I saw you buff it). Given your method of 3/4 base first, does it eliminate the step for having to file around the nail and sidewalls/cuticle and top?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lesia! Great question!! So with the 3/4th method it definitely cuts down on the filing time. Recently I have been filing on top of my nail as well! Some of my recent videos I show it too 💕 I am working on showing as much as I can in videos but not having them be too lengthy/long 😆 I don’t personally use an efile because I am just more comfortable with hand filing ☺️ hope this helps!

    Hi. I have a question. Do you need to apply the activator again after you have buffed and shaped your nails?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How do you prevent chipping on short nails? I tried capping my nails but they’re short so most of the liquid for capping them get on my skin not the nail.

    • @SipAndDip

      I would suggest building up an apex then! So more layers, gradually building up strength towards the cuticle area. Here’s a video where I show a few methods 💖 hope this helps!

    Thanks for recommending a glass cuticle pusher. I'll have to try one. I love the look of clean cuticles but those nippers creep me out. And they hurt! Do you ever use a circle remover like Sally hansens with the pusher?

    • @SipAndDip
      @SipAndDip  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never tried the cuticle nippers because I’ve been so intimidated by them. But I do think I could use a little trim or possible try it with the efile. I know I am due for it 🤣🙈 so I did use the Sally Hansen’s cuticle remover when I first started out! But... I noticed I had a big lifting issue when I did. So unfortunately I had to stop. When I paint my daughters nails with polish I use the Sally’s on her and gently push hers back. I just didn’t have luck with using it but I know others that have!
