I'm so excited to fly this! The last RC place I bought was a Weasel EPP glider way back in 2003, and I still fly that bad boy. 45 minutes of flight on a single battery while running a motor, FPV system, and autopilot is absolutely incredible to me. On a side note, I do product design and have actually been getting a small component molded in EPP in parallel with your project, so it's been fun to have more insight into the process you're going through.

@@FPVREVIEWS are you making reference to corporate espionage or something? I literally just meant that I am making a small and completely unrelated component in the same material, and it's been interesting to learn about the process of designing for EPP molding while also watching these guys develop a more complex example of it. I have better insight into and more appreciation for the kind of design process they are involved in.

@@evanbarnes9984 Did I say that? no. It's a good idea to not give away intellectual property, especially some key trade secrets, just because other devs are watching, and they could compete directly using your IP. They can always reverse engineer your products, but sharing details while in development just makes sure that your product will be obsolete when you release it. It was more of a general comment regarding privacy of IP, not an accusation. I was aware that it might offend you, but I thought it was important to say.

I've been waffling back and forth on what flight controller to use in my Flik wing. I guess if you get all of the tuning done and release the code, I may FINALLY actually build out the hardware. I've skimmed the tutorial many times, but haven't felt confident enough that I can actually do it. I think knowing that it'd go in an identical airfame, might give me the confidence.

Magical! (2:28) Seeing the " glory" and circular rainbows in flight is alway amazing. One of the best flight scenes ever! This such a perfect misty dawn of a morning to fly above the inversion layer in silk-smooth clean air.
I quietly LOL, watching the concerns of possible laminar separation (10:16), meanwhile there was absence of a little-monster antenna cylinder sticking up from the real test plane. 👀
While it's possible to embed the antenna in a vertical fin to improve aerodynamics, I understand that leads to very specific production design constrains. ie: not everyone is going to want to use the same FPV antenna.
It could however be an interesting aerodynamic topic to touch on in future. (comparing aero with/without antenna) Visuals of an AWACs jet, with a flying saucer antenna on top comes to mind.

After the papers on Prandtl-D came out I tried the concept at a much reduced scale I found if the aircraft had a wide speed range, the trim changes across said speed range were also quite large and it was a frustrating flight experience. I loved the concept but relegated my thoughts on BLSD to 'one speed/point designs' such as a solar aircraft. Maybe my execution was incorrect and thus my conclusions, but I ended up putting the design aside for most use cases. Wondering what your thoughts are.... Then again if we are just using stabilization anyway, maybe I can just delegate trim changes to the autopilot. Food for thought.

@@calebcoburn2785 There are more options out there than I have the time to try. I would not doubt someone has come up with a solid option, and if there is one I'd love to know because I too would use it. MRO saves me time, simply because I've already vetted it over the years.

@@AerialWaviator I looked at that as well. Not quite as light as the more expensive matek. I was parting out for a planned built on a homemade airframe with likely even less weight budget than the flikwing.
