Putting a field into a cover crop supporting pollinators is a great idea. You are on the flyway for the monarch butterflies. Nice to attract the ground beetles and ladybugs to name a few beneficial insects. Great to start up an apiary if any of the ladies of the family wanted to try it. Or perhaps try some of those 60 inch corn with a cover crop to capture carbon as discussed on those podcasts. 🍁👍😎

Man that little girl is way smarter than you are 🤣 Must be a wonderful feeling working with dad and Onyx like you do. When we used to start farming a 'new land' or 'wild land', we would plough it and plant potatoes the first time. After that the soil would be ready to grow anything.

Because you asked...I subscribed. I'll let you know when I am ready to put my channel up. HVACR for commercial spaces is where I am at this point. Years ago, I held four ASE master certs...then I went off to fly jets. Now, I am home every night and I am valued for my abilities. I know you are also valued. We all need to eat, and although I haven't been in a combine since 1966, I get where you are coming from. Well done.

My father-in-law milked 80 head of cows, starting about 5 in the morning and then his youngest son milk them in the evening. He couldn't wait for school to be out for summer, my oldest son would spend the summer on the farm and ride in the tractor with Grandpa. He kept him from falling asleep and if he did my son woke him up right away.

Good job coming back to help your dad Onyx. When I was your age, I had to catch bales of alfalfa, stack them on on the trailer, and then stack them in the barn. I am old now, but those day's of working, made me a better worker as an adult, and a lot of people don't care about the work they do, and can't keep a job. Your dad is a good man, listen and learn. On a dairy farm I worked on in high-school, a few goose hunters set up in one of our fields I was spreading liquid manure in. Between loads I asked the farmer if they had permission to hunt there. He said no and told me to get rid of them. I filled the tanker and spread the load on their decoys. Not a word was said from the hunters and they never came back.

Question: As a guy who loves keeping his garage clean, does it ever bother you seeing all the debris on the header and that huge pile of debris in the back of the combine? I know it’s always gonna be there after each time to use the machine but i was curious if you ever cleaned it after a hard day at work?

You are absolutely right about the hunters they should have asked

Ah, The grain dryer drama. I remember it well. I actually just put a tent next to ours with a cot and slept next to it. Every two hours or so would be checking that it's running, moving between all the storage bins, etc. We kept ours rolling 24/7 at harvest. Like having an infant that needs attention all the time.

You were much nicer to the trespassers than I would have been. I hope its a case of having permission from the prior owner and didn't know it was sold...

It’s s much Zachs fault for not posting if he just bought the land and doesn’t allow hunting.

@@waggtech4883 You can't hunt on land that's not yours without permission period, with or without a silly sign. It's not Zachs fault at all.

I wasn't really concerned about it, mostly just caught off guard. I'd have told them to go ahead anyway so I just waved and kept working.

When not using DEF, store the end of the nozzle in a container of water. It works well at keeping the nozzle from building up and clicking off.

I really enjoy your content guys. I'm not a farmer but both of my parents grew up farming and I'm a rural dweller so I know the work that goes into it. It's amazing that you manage to get through it all with a camera stuck to your hand. Great team work, thank you! And what a fabulous environment for your children to grow up in, the real 'school of life'!

The lobby of the combine, also known as the porch. It’s a great restroom too
