Having been a professional pilot for the past 35 years I love it when my passengers comment on how easy my job looks. I always reply "You don't want to be with me the day it doesn't look easy!" Usually shuts them up... :-)
True true. Same here. Truckers don't have the best reputation (we have a lot of bad apples :( ), but well, the fun time is coming. No one wants to switch with me when the road gets rough and you need silverware to get up the hills :D
No kidding kirk. It bugs me when people spout off how easy they think others jobs are. I am no pilot but I feel safer when they are able to make it look easy. I understand abit about all the responsibility you guys have from a friend of mine, who is also a commercial pilot on several size of aircraft over the years. Both as co-pilot and captain. It really is eye opening.
Your dad commenting on something his dad taught him just goes to show that what we do as fathers has a lasting impact. I love little things like that. God bless all of yall. Stay safe for those last acres.
Seeing a good dad in action is majestic. The temperance and wisdom of it always makes me understand why my dad couldn't do that and was a monster.... Much as he wanted the medals, he didn't expect to do ANYTHING but abuse... So sad as it is for me, I can still appreciate seeing a good dad.....
My Dad used to work all day on the farm, then load a load of hogs just before the men went home. Driving that old GMC double decked with hogs the 50 miles into St Louis was a way for him to stretch his day and not have to be gone from the farm while the men were there insuring their productivity. He was always tired and my Mom was worried that he woujld fall asleep driving. The solution was to send my little sister along with him to talk to him and keep him awake. I guess it worked, he never had an accident.
Jim is funny. I hope someday he will allow you to interview him, that would be a hoot. Thanks for a great video. Glad you had a good time with that child riding with you.
Hey Zach, you should have let people know that Starbuck is a town and not a coffee shop. Lol. It sounded like you were going to take a long coffee break.
Ah there goes my fun... Was chuckling my head off thinking of Zach and family, feet kicked up, sitting around a Starbuck's at O'dark-thirty in the morning passing time for some reason or another.
There is a ferrous check ball in the nozzle that is suppose to be held open by the blue ring (A magnet) of the filler. Sometimes it's not strong enough and you can get a magnet to fit on the nozzle to bypass this (The nozzle will also then spray if it's not in the filler so be careful). If that still doesn't work then the pump is just pumping too fast and you can either adjust it down either via a flow controller if it has one or changing belt pullies to underdrive the pump. Or if you are real desperate kink the hose to restrict the flow rate. Learned all this filling up def in trucks at stations :) Lots of fuel stations actually keep the magnets on hand it's such a common problem.
@@Knallteute Yeah it is a well intended safety to prevent people from accidently putting def in the diesel tank. Just doesn't work properly some of the time. If the magnet on the tank filler isn't strong enough for the nozzle+friction pressure of the def going around it, the check ball gets pushed closed.
DEF one of three ways to fix your problem. One replace nozzle with manual one or two remove filler screen inside tank or three get 3/8 rubber hose about 12 inches long and jam one end inside nozzle. Fill up through hose. This turns nozzle into a manual nozzle. Works every time.
If anyone thinks farming is easy, just watch a few of the Millennium Farmer vids. I have so much respect for farmers now and appreciative of what they do to feed America. Thanks Zach, Dad, Onyx, and Jim
Love watching the choreography of the harvesters, the grain cart, the trucks all done with that ease that demonstrates professionalism at a high level. Thank you. Very enjoyable.
I have been watching your videos for some time now, do admit it's difficult waiting between them however, I can't even begin to express my level of respect for you and for all farmers in whatever form they are (well 'cept pot farmers, they're just dangerous no matter what) for all the work you do on a daily basis, sharing your "typical" day with us exhausts me and even when I was at my best in the military and as a cop, I know I would have been totally exhausted after half a day of the work you put in. People tell me "thank you for your service" and I'm greatful for that thanks but don't seek it out, to me, you folks, farmers, those who keep the food moving to our dinner plates are just as much heroes in my book so thank you for your service to my belly and keep up the good work and the videos coming please.
The DEF tank issue is for sure the screen/filter crystallizing our new s760 is doing the same thing when the def gets low it is worse so what we found don't let the tank get very low. Hope this helps you love watching your channel and enjoy seeing the family in the videos. Thank you
Fact. ZVA dispensers ( that’s the fuel trigger assembly) has as previously mentioned a small hole at the bottom of the nozzle. It requires an amount of back pressure acting like a ventury to keep the nozzle open. If you raise the nozzle away from the filter you will find it flows freely. Failing that the nozzle will have a slight burr on the small ventury inlet. Also very dependant on pressure to dispense
Appreciate you not going off on the emissions problems, and I darn well hope they get better. Just not sure who they is. Appreciate you and your family and neighbors sharing what ya do.
I can’t say for Ag equip, but semi trucks have gotten a TON better in the last couple/few years. Pre 2016 was a nightmare. 2016/17/18 was ok, but still some issues. 2019 and newer seems a ton better, regardless of engine manufacturer. Hopefully this starts to show on farm equip as well
Loved the video, your Dad recalling what his father taught him was an awesome ending. Enjoy being with your Dad each and every day. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
Try using a magnet on the def filler. Slide it under the nozzle to move the ball bearing and it will flow better. We have the same problem with them on the HGV pumps
Live here in Minnesota and this was a couple of days ago. Currently in the mid to low 40's. It's Minnesota and weather changes in a blink of the eye. I feel Indian summer as we call it here has come to a end. Colors are great now thou.
Great vid, Zack. As a non farmer I look forward to your explaining different things that you think are boring but I am learning and find them interesting. You dpn't ever have to apologize for havin' a good day

Now you feel you owe the gods of misfortune something for your good luck. I rather enjoyed today, disaster or no!! Thanks for the ride. (the second THUNDER was not as dramatic)
I lived in Starbuck through age 11. Best Dairy Queen in the world. I've got a lot of memories of riding my bike to the DQ and getting a cookie dough blizzard, and then going fishing at the marina. I need to get back up there sometime and visit family. My uncle is the mayor of Lowry!
When u asked Ana where is she my youngest son goes she must be at the neighbors seeing her boyfriend. That's cool u have people bring u food. My wife or my mom always did or neighbors would if they see me working on the field's. And they would bring me what ever they had for supper. I have no idea how many times my dad and uncles backed the combines up to the semi's trailer's or even building's. Dunno how my uncle backed into the side of the storage shed.
Zac I worked for a farmer for about 15 or so years. All my buddies. Oh yeah you get to ride in an A/C cab, nice comfortable seat. Just ride all day. That ain't hard to do. Like you said, they don't see the sun baring down on you fixing things. Digging a plugged plow or combine out. At work at 6 or 6:30 AM and still at it at midnight. Asking where you been the last few weeks? Harvesting or Planting or Plowing. Yeah in that A/C again. Real hard work. I told one buddy, Come ride with me for a day. I knew the next day was going to be a bad one, knowing what we had to do. I told him be at the barn by 7AM, and mind you we are starting late by that time. He got home about 1AM next day he called me at around noon. Dude I just got up. Told him I started at 6:30 again. LOL For some reason he never poked me anymore about riding in a A/C cab and corrected others when they would say something about it. You and your dad have a dryer to tend with. We did not, I do not know anyone in our area that has a dryer not even our Grainary has one.
that screen on the DEF tank is just to keep the big stuff out. there's still a really fine screen on the pickup tube, plus the filter in the DEF pump. wouldn't hurt too much to pull the screen
I parked a grain truck behind a combine once. It was my grandpas old 715 combine and Ih 1700 loadstar. The truck was immaculate with 30k miles. Completely wrecked both of them when he hopped in and backed up. I learned the hard way.
This may be dumb, but it might be the issue. The end of the nozzle tip, on the bottom side, has a small air vent hole. It is what causes the nozzles to kick off. Check and make sure that hole is free and clear. Also make sure that hole is not against the filter in your tank when trying to pump it.
Dem der 'uneventful' days are da bestest. Thanks ever so much for taking the time to make and post your videos, you probably don't feel it at the time but you're making thousands of people happy for 15 - 20 minutes. Good luck on your drive to 1 mil. :-)
Working for yourself you can take pride in what you do. Way better than working for the man. Love the videos. Can't wait to get to my little 6 acre spot in the Poconos and work on my stuff.
Uneventful days are good. Maybe not the greatest for content. However, I could watch y’all do nothing but harvest for a 20 minute video and still be entertained.
For all us "Citiots" out here watching you, I'd really like to see some videos on how all these pieces of equipment work. Open the hood, so to speak. How does a combine convert a stalk of corn into corn kernels in the hopper. How does the baler work? How does the tiller do it's thing? Planter...Stuff like that.
My sister put my dad's car on 2 wheels by backing into it with the combine after delivering lunch...broke both side windows as the car went to 45 degrees...dropped it down...drove to town and got 2 new windows and drove the car another 10 years...1993 Bonneville...not a scratch on the Deere...
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. I do understand you comment on people saying how easy you job is. They just do not understand. Let them get a tractor out of the mud or on a freezing cold day trying to fix something in the field with a strong wind blowing. Been there done that. Need your gloves off to fix whatever but your hands are so cold without the gloves. Let some of these folks try it. Good comments Zach. Jim’s ad comment at eating time was funny. Good going Jim. You and your dad ant Jim really knocked some corn out on this video. Makes for a great harvest day when everything works and no break downs. You all moved right along today. Nice of that local group to bring food out to the field for you. Not trying to tell you what to do but might you want to hold onto that small header. The old story is you never know when you might need it again. Stick it in the corner of a shed until needed again. Just saying. About it for now. You all take care and be safe. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks much. The Iowa farm boy from years ago. P.S. many thanks to Becky for editing.
Dad was combing beans for his uncle (circa 1960s) and was trying to get them out of a wet spot and had to keep backing up every time it started lugging. The last time he thought it was getting stuck, backed up and couldn’t move. Got out and saw his uncle’s new JD tractor crushed and the back of the combine crushed up to the hopper.
Looks like smooth sailing for you all as long as the rain stays away and the temps stay above average...my better half appreciated your cool ranch snack with the chili
Same thing was happening on our case 185 puma and case 6140 combine with those def screens. I was scared to pull them too but after 3 years of standing there clicking off I gave up and pulled them lol. Can’t wait for my DEF repair bill but at least I can fill up fast now 😂
Congratulation and uneventful day but you write the weather has been gorgeous now if we only can keep the breakdowns manageable will be able to finish the corner cell good luck
The race car driver comment got me, thank you I needed that. And glad you had an uneventful, it's nice to have one of those every now and again so you feel like you got stuff done.👍
Neighbor hired a combine after his caught fire. So he needed a extra box to keep up. The combine driver dumped@275 bu in my box. Pulled ahead, maybe twice. Broad daylight and backed into my box 90 degrees and shoved it over 2’ half loaded. Night time I could understand. Now it sways over 25 mph, tires wear.
Glad it was a good productive day for y’all up north. We are almost done down near STL. We were more fortunate this year with weather. Hopefully you get that same weather luck next growing season
Oh wow! Just started watching your channel and thought it was cool you were also in Minnesota! Then the more I watch the more and more you sound familiar. Now watching this video, and MY COUSIN is in your combine! 😅 I'm Troy's nephew and I'd love to get in touch and help you any way I can! (Glad to see the disrud farm is doing well)
I have a gas can that has a splash guard in it the splashes on the nozzle n shuts it off.that came out no more problems.what a good day for you guys.good deal.
Never park behind a Combine.....great fatherly advice. My dad always told me, “Dan, never argue with a crazy person”. Simple things you should never forget:)

Great work Becky. The best Editing on TH-cam.......
If you keep the 20ft header for next time the corn lays over it'll never fall over again...if you sell it Murphy's law says you'll need it again
You are 100% correct.

Hey Zach, you should have let people know that Starbuck is a town and not a coffee shop. Lol. It sounded like you were going to take a long coffee break.

There boring but nice when you dont have repairs so it was nice and you did a great job thank you for sharing and your time .
so impressed with your attitude of getting tthru problems!!
Awesome to see the time given to make life memories for some youth.👍🏼
Glad it was a good productive day for y’all up north. We are almost done down near STL. We were more fortunate this year with weather. Hopefully you get that same weather luck next growing season
Love the Annika conversation update. Miss when my girls were that age
Your dad is a funny guy. Grandpa told me some stories similar to your guyses. All the older farmers are just the same 😅
YOUR DAD IS A BAD ASS... I'M GLAD YOU HAVE ALL THESE VIDEOS WITH HIM..👍
See anyone else YELLING?
i am happy for yall to have good day myself i hate seeing when a farmer has troubles guess that comes from 22 years and a hired farmhand
seems like every year in southern Quebec, constant rain at harvest time. soya was ready last week, and it has been rain every day.
We are the exact same way here in southern Ontario we have rain every 3rd day and it looks like all of next week is rain so we’re finding mud too
Never park behind a Combine.....great fatherly advice. My dad always told me, “Dan, never argue with a crazy person”. Simple things you should never forget:)
No, thank you guys for making a video for us. Its much appreciated.
Zach keep farming an keep videos coming I wish I could b there to help good luck k hope everything goes well until u finish harvesting
Glad you had an uneventful day 😊
Glad no tractors were injured for this episode!
