Zack, I used to build those bins. The side gates we tore them apart and welded the set ring onto the steel rod inside the gate. That way you don’t have to tear open the floor! Best to do when empty, “trust me” ha.

Speaking of two machines: You could keep the 9870 through harvest, at least through soybean harvest, and sell it after.
We have a custom operator close to me. They operate 4 Forage harvesters. Every April, they buy a new one, and run 5 through the season. Then in November, they sell the oldest and repeat. So they only pay off on 4 in the off season, and never have any that are too old. 👍

I would guess as the new boss took over they were running the 4-5 machines and then he just started to exchange the oldest/broken one and buy an replacement.
Maybe the guy knows how to write it off so the irs is happy

Hi Zac you could use the vhf radios you all ready have put a repeater on your grain leg get the radios set up to the repeater and put the transmit frequency of the repeater in as a talk around channel when you are out of range of the repeater or it goes down.We are grain farmers over here in Australia we have two repeaters one is on a 100ft tower and covers 50 to 60km other one is on a hill and gets more than 100km our repeaters are in the uhf band 470 MHz the reason for this is over here we have uhf cb radios as well they used to have 40ch and now have moved to 80 ch all farms use this service over here but is to congested at busy times like harvest, planting cotton pick as well as the trucking industry and general users. Our radios have the uhf cb channels fitted and our licensed repeaters frequency we still use HF radios here as well they cover the whole of Australia our cell phone network is the most useless setup I have ever used or seen yet Constance drop outs out of service or not working at all we are lucky to have as well a HF radio network called VKS737 it has frequency’s to cover more than 3000km the whole country is possible monitored 24 hours a day in conjunction with the royal flying doctor service I have heard all kind of emergency medical break downs and other problems in the the outback with help could be days away. Our repeaters and Hf radios play a big part in our farming operation over here would be without it

Great to start seeing harvest videos again. Been a while. Lots of items to check on your bin setup. Looks like you got it all going. Nice bun and dryer setup. The dogs are busy with the mice coming out of conveyors. Keeps em busy. Interesting that you have beans and corn going at the same time. Thanks for taking the time to let the kids ride for a while. Good education for them. Will be anxious to see the honey bee header run in the field compared to the JD header. Appreciate you doing that. Glad you climbed up to the top of bin system. Heights are not my favorite thing. But you do what you got to do. Amen to that. About it for now. Looking forward to the next video. Thanks. You all take care and be safe.

Down here in Mississippi and Arkansas we irrigate corn and beans with polypipe which means we plant on raised beds and the irrigation water flows down the middles. When we cut beans we always cut diagonally across the rows. It feeds better and since we have fire ants the beans feeding in at an angle helps the keep the fire ant mounds raked off of the header.

  • @Cragified

Get some PTFE valve packing material, comes in a roll, just cut to fit and slip it into the ring ends. Less mess and lasts a long time. You are right though the ring let the pipe ends spread, only way corn is getting into the ring.
