    Very nicely done John. Very helpful to anyone doing the same job. Bearing puller and press definitely needed on that monster bearing though!!

    My Jaguar STR had a bent hub causing bad brake shudder. The hub was stuck in the vertical link so hard I had to take the vertical link off and use a hydraulic press to get the hub out, and it came out with a huge BANG!

      Its still a mystery to me how it gripped the hub that hard. Its not even an interference fit. I could practically throw the new bearing in once I cleaned the hub up! Salt and dissimilar metals, a powerful combination I guess.

    Hi John, I have change my front wheel bearing , but I don’t know why ‘ the ABS AND 4 WD’ indicator was on while I driving , pls let me know what is causes the problems? Thankyou John

      If the wheel speed (ABS) sensor is damaged or disconnected then that could cause both of those lights to come on. As they would certainly have been disconnected when the bearings were replaced, that is a good place to start. ALso it is possible to buy bearings withought the magnetic pulse disc on them that is necessary for ABS sensors to detect that your wheel is rotating.

    Hope you can help, I have a 2010 e52 that needs min new discs at rear,local Halfords can’t source or do the job as it is an import and they don’t have the toque settings. Firstly need to know best place to get the discs and then whether torque setting on here should be the same

      Hi The E52 is a completely different beast based on a new frontwheel drive platform so i would not be able to advise based on my knowledge of the E51. However try this link for brake discs

    I am in BC Canada and cannot find replacement parts outside of Japan, which will cost a fortune.
    Do you know if any Nissan Quest model wheel bearings are interchangeable with the 2002 E51 Elgrand?

      Not yet familiar enough with the Elgrand to comment on compatible parts unfortunately but I THINK there are Infinity models that use the exact same running gear. We dont get the Quest in the UK at all, so I dont even know what one looks like😔. Guess what im Googling now😁

      wow, did all that and the bearings I ordered were the wrong size!
      I want to just order the entire hub and wheel assembly, but can't find it. Why can't I find the hub for this vehicle???
      Is yours a 2002 E51 too?

      Hi Danie. Dont have a video at the moment. Is yours a RWD or a 4WD? I have a set of RWD bearings on my bench and when i go home next i can note down the part number for you. I would assume the rears will be the same on a RWD and a FWD?

    Just wondering who you you use for parts on these? I am looking at an import minivan (maybe these, Elysion or Alphard) and am interested how tricky/costly parts are to get. I'm a pretty keen DIY mechanic, so finding someone to work on them wouldn't be an issue.
    Also, have you done any cavity waxing/rustproofing now she's getting exposed to our salty climes?!

      Hi James.
      I used this place for the bearings and belts that I purchasedbmr-automotive.com/e51-parts
      and eurocarparts can supply discs and pads.
      My experience so far is that the mechanical items are not too much of a problem to find and prices are not ridiculous (similar to Navarah or 350Z prices)
      Body panels and interior trim items will be more difficult but there are a surprising number of Elgrand / Alphard specialists who are often breaking cars if you start to search for them.
      As she was imported through a specialist (by previous owner ) she was undersealed on arrival in the UK in 2018 But I am considering topping that up with a product like Lanoguard.

      @@ToTheGarage Thank you, I hadn't found BMR. I think you're right, half the battle is finding out which parts cross pollinate between models.
      On the underseal, we're clearly on the same page, I will be looking for a fresh import which I can get undersealed and then top up every few years!

      Yes, absolutely. Mine is 12 ton but 5 is more than enough to push the new bearing on to the hub spindle

    I have elgrand E51 with few issues runs really well just getting burning oil been told to change the pcv valve which I have got just looks a nightmare to do! Do you have any ideas?

    Anti roll bar bushes only was causing this. Its a dull "dunk" as they flex more with age and wear.. For anyone else, anti roll bar bushes are amongst the cheapest and sinplest things to diy. Aslong as you make sure it goes back together properly and tightened up you cant really go wrong. Most jdms use the same set up, there are just variations in placement and size.

      Thats actually a very interesting point. It depends on the application. In this situation no, The nut is pulling up against a fixed stop. So the torque applied is all about ensuring the nut never moves. if you were doing up the hub nut on an old school car with 3 part taper bearings (marina cortina cavalier etc). the torque applied affects the distance the nut travels along the thread and therefore the preload (lack of end float) applied to the bearings. That would be bad👍👍👍

    Those spindles look awful weak to me. G clamp is more accurately descriptive than C clamp.

      I think G clamp too. But C Cramp is a very popular description. C I can live with. Cramp just felt like a widely repeated mispronunciation ?
