This was very interesting & informative. I appreciate the tips and the time it took to coordinate. Would love to see this again with another group of sewists contributing. Thank you.
Two more tips to add to the pile: understitch - where appropriate, it always improves the look and finish of a garment. Secondly, use a walking foot. It takes a while to get used to but if you are sewing knits, slippery or fine fabric it is a lifesaver!
Totally agree. In a perfect world we would all have a heavy duty needle feed machine. But a walking foot on a domestic machine is a close second.... Understiching too, where possible, is a great idea 😊
Wonderful video! My favorite tip was adding the scrap from cutting a bodice to the back of a knit garment for an automatic back facing! How creative and a resourceful use of scraps! I love this idea, Thanks so much!
Thank you for putting this together! I love that so many of the sewists gave multiple tips. I have learned quite a few really good ideas that I intend to use. I have a tip that I saw on a Sewing With Nancy episode years ago. Even Nancy Zeiman had not heard it before. When you wash your fabric, if you cut off the 4 corners first, the woven fabric will not shred. I've used this tip for years.
Thanks for including me in your video Lisa, some great tips from everyone - there's always something new to learn, no matter how long you've been sewing!
What a fantastic idea. I've been sewing for about 20 years and I've learned everything I know from really lovely generous youtubers and my wife (she got me started). Thank you to all the contributors too. Happy sewing.
This was fantastic to watch, I learnt new sewing tips and new people to follow. Thank you for doing this Lisa, it’s a great idea and encourages the feeling of being part of a sewing community
What an extremely useful and helpful vlog. Some great tips and ideas. I'm sewing for years and years but I found some very useful tips. Thank you everyone 😊
Thank you for all the tips most of them we all learn and overcome after many years, but there is always something new to learn. My best tip is when you get to that point when you just can’t fathom how to do something, I sit back and ask God to help me and I say Jesus if you haven’t got time can you send me someone there who can tell me how to do it and before I know it I’ve done it. It amazes me every time. 🙏
Loved this video, especially the unpicking of overlocker seams - also the one about increasing stitch length. Great tips - such a simple idea to make a compendium of sewing tips, more please!
Thanks so much Lisa for organising this video - such a great idea. Really enjoyed hearing everyone’s tips - and so great to be part of the video too - thank you ❤❤❤
Thank you for this video. I love this international and multicultural community that I discovered during “Covid: The Great Shutdown.” It’s wonderful to share our passion for learning and creating. I love that I “know” so many of you on this video and have subscribed to your channels, and I’m thrilled to see new faces. Life is short. Live and Love Boldly! Thank you for this! ♥️🙌🏾♥️
Great video!!! I learned a few new things. My favorite is the overlocker unpicking, the cuff that loses bulk when you snip half thru so you can divide the seams to flatten it. Lastly using the fabric at the back of the neck to create and interfacing and tack it down. Also...making a mock up from cheaper fabric that can be worn might make me actually do it. Serging fabric edges before washing is something I learned before, but glad it was included because it is so important to know that tip. TFS
Lovely video with such nice people and great ideas. Especially enjoyed Theresa's wisdom about sewing what you want without getting hung up on what level of difficulty the pattern may be.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you so very much for sharing these valuable tips with us and for this fabulous vlog! I’ve saved this and shared this vlog! We are so blessed to have an amazing sewing community that support each other and share their knowledge so we all can be successful in our sewing. I just wish I lived closer so that I could attend the sewing get togethers and the Shows and meet these inspiring sewists. Sending best wishes from Down Under 💖🌼🌺🌻🌸💐😎🇦🇺
Great video! All my favourite tips plus a few more I didn’t know (or needed to be reminded of). Just wonderful, especially if you are a beginning sewist!
My daughter has asked me for a small insulated 2 pocket dog treat belt bag. I have used so much scrap fabric trying to work this out and just can’t work it out. It has to also accommodate 1 or 2 ice packs. Such a tall task
When my passed I got her sewing and craft items. One of the items was a medium sized Crochet Hook. I now use it as a point turner and remember my Mom as well. Another use for a small crochet hook is to bring the Serger Tails back onto itself in the seam. Works like a charm!!! Crochet hooks are softly pointed with a hook that is so useful in sewing.put the hook about in inch from the fabric edge, grab the tail and pull it thru the stitches.
Gosh. This is a great selection, I've learned some great new ideas - BUT, where are the guys????? There must be some more 'boy' sewers to go with you wonderful 'girls'.😊
@@asewinglife Oh gosh, I'm a barely competent sewer, taught myself during lockdown, but love the process (and the new clothes 😀😀) This was the first of your videos I'd seen, so I'm now subscribed ❤️
appreciate the content. One note..diversity and inclusion. With representation across the world n you tube there would be more women of color. No controversy just an observation.
This was very interesting & informative. I appreciate the tips and the time it took to coordinate. Would love to see this again with another group of sewists contributing. Thank you.
I will try to do it again. There is another video full of men giving tips which you would enjoy
Two more tips to add to the pile: understitch - where appropriate, it always improves the look and finish of a garment. Secondly, use a walking foot. It takes a while to get used to but if you are sewing knits, slippery or fine fabric it is a lifesaver!
Oh they’re both excellent tips. Thank you. I’ve never used a walking foot before
Totally agree. In a perfect world we would all have a heavy duty needle feed machine. But a walking foot on a domestic machine is a close second.... Understiching too, where possible, is a great idea 😊
Great video. I am in awe of the lady with nine children who sews in her spare time!
I know!!! Me too!!! I don’t know how she does it 😀
Wonderful video! My favorite tip was adding the scrap from cutting a bodice to the back of a knit garment for an automatic back facing! How creative and a resourceful use of scraps! I love this idea, Thanks so much!

They were all so kind giving their time
I use flexible Ice Cube Trays to keep my thread spools near my machine. Look nice and work to keep things at hand.
What a great idea. I would never have thought of that.
Loving the tips, I been sewing over 50 years + and still found a lot of great tips. Thanks so much!!
Me too. I’ve been sewing a similar amount of time and I learnt lots of new tips

Lovely video with such nice people and great ideas. Especially enjoyed Theresa's wisdom about sewing what you want without getting hung up on what level of difficulty the pattern may be.
Yes, they all had such wonderful advice 😀
Ban-Rol can be used for shirt collars and fine hems also.
That’s interesting. Thank you. I’ve never heard of it before
Do you have a good source for purchasing this, searching the internet seem to be like opening a can of worms… thanks x
@@clairerosey9921 I don't know where to get it. Most fabric stores or places that sell sewing supplies should have it.
I’m afraid I’ve never used it but Crystal said on the video that she bought hers from Amazon
@@clairerosey9921
Try looking for 'horsehair tape sewing', if you have trouble finding the right product.
It was nice meeting like minded creators . Keep inspiring.
Will do 😀
Love this video and thanks to all who've passed on tips. I'm subscribed to a number of channels and I'll be subcribing to more after watching this 👏👏

Thank you. That’s a very fair point.
Make a mock up. It's awful to make something from your $50 a yard fabric and wind up with something that doesn't fit at all.
That is a very good tip and I completely agree 😀
this is the first time i seen your blog and it was very informative.i leaned a lot. thank you
