    Glad we got a pretty thorough review on the specs here. I'm one of the BOOST users. I got it for the $49.00 promo. Boosts advertising is misleading though. Here are the 3 tiers for the phone, and what you get in the packaging. ( roughly, I might have missed an item)
    1. $49 for boost customer with an account with a 3G /4G phone. ( as 3 G is going away, so they want you to upgrade.) You get the phone, sim card, and a charger
    2. $79 boost users that have a 4, or 5 g phone. You get the phone, charger (no sim card) and a case.
    3. $179. Boost phone with charger if you out right buy the phone ( no upgrade)
    4. 279.00 I you are switching to boost, and want the 1 year phone service.
    But the advertising is misleading, as for us $49 promo users get a flyer saying the phone is worth $279... ( basically comparing it to option # 4, without stating it comes with a full year paid.)
    If you buy the Celero, and can't find a case, many users have used a Samsung A22 5G case ( I did, and perfect fit) but it must be the 5 G case, not the 4 G.

    I currently own this device, purchased about 3 days ago. I dropped my Samsung Galaxy A71 5g in the toilet on accident, (Which I loved) and this filled the empty void... on a whim. I even got similar benchmarks as The A71 5g.... Storage is not as much, I don't get NFC, The glass is crap... but comparing this low end device with a mid range device, In 2022!, I'm just not convinced anymore... Why pay more for for any device when the low end devices, from companies like Dish (OF ALL COMPANIES), are making phones that actually compare. Even after only 3 days, I'm completely convinced that if you look at the specs, you can have a great performing device for the price of your cable bill... LITERALLY. I give this 8/10 for the budget conscious and an 8/10 for the people that prefer $1200 devices. I bought this for temporary, but I think I'll have this phone for a while.

    Ok really need some clarification from our guy here - this video is encoded at 60fps.
    Conker's Bad Fur Day is almost a slideshow compared to how it actually runs, and Crazy Taxi Dreamcast runs much, much smoother than it looks here (even though the counter says 60)
    So there's something confusing going on here. You're saying they're running 'great' but they're clearly not... Unless your video recording for this upload is dropping frames like crazy for some reason. That seems unlikely so - can anyone explain?
    Not the first time I've heard things here described as 'running great/perfectly) but to look at, it's all over the place stutter and fps wise
    I think this is quite important for a channel like this

    • @youtindia
      @youtindia 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      - Minecraft
      - N64 emulator (say it runs great at 17fps)
      - PSP (say it runs great)
      - Re-dream (say it runs great)
      - Gamecube (Look surprised it runs, show slowdowns in Auto modelista)
      - Conclusion (Great Device)
      You can avoid this channel for 99% of the videos unless there really isn't anyone else uploading a video for that specific device.

    I revisited this video (and the one where you tested Aether on the Celero) because TracFone now has a Dimensity 700 powered device, Samsung's Galaxy A13 5G, on sale for $129 at QVC. The best part it comes bundled with a year airtime card which makes the effective cost of the phone much less. Will I buy it? Maybe, maybe not. But it's certainly a contender.

    (Year of service deal is only for the first 250 customers)
    Wish we had that deal in the US. All I see is $140(edit: found it at Walmart for $99) for a limited time or $279 with no bonus. It is less appealing at a 40% higher cost. For about the same you can find phones like galaxy s9's. Yes those 845 devices will be used but for emulation it could end up being a better choice unless older Android is an issue.

      Been thinking of doing the same. Found one for pretty cheap and have been wanting an emulation device. How does it play? Like have you tried anything heavier like ps2 or genshin?
      Also. The only thing i could think of is maybe turning wifi off when you aren't using it thats what i had to do woth my old phone

      It runs perfect. I’ve ran 3DS, Ps2, PSP, and GameCube. They run really well. Also runs xbox game pass great. I’ll try the Wi-Fi off and see if that helps. I really want to Root it but I’ve never done it so I’m hesitant 😬

    For the price the fact you can add up to a 1tb SD card and a capale chipset more than worth the money. I'd imagine most folk watching ETA are interested in emulation so the 720p display is better than most dedicated devices. And again price to feature ratio.

    As a gaming device it seems fair, but any time I see a cheap phone I have to ask myself is the software going to remain good or will the developer push an update that will destroy it with crappy add on bloat and adware. I suppose if you keep it off line and only use it for emulation and games it could remain fine for a while, but you still have to connect it for mobile stuff like Genshin Impact and that means updates.

      I don’t know what kind of generic phones you’ve used but all androids I’ve ever use require you to download then install the update unless you keep it on auto update which can always be turned on.

    I don't get it. What does a prepaid phone mean? Are t here any other costs associated?

    • @AtomizerX
      @AtomizerX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That means you pay upfront for each month of service, versus postpaid, where you generally sign a 1+ year contract and pay after you're billed (like, say, payments on a car.) The differences between prepaid versus postpaid are mainly the contract/commitment and also deals on phones if you're buying from the carrier instead of bringing your own.

    What I want to know is, how are phone companies still getting away with selling a $900-$1,800 phone with like 200 GB of storage, no expandable memory option and saying "for just a meager $500 extra you can have 500 GB of storage TOTAL." When a 1 TB micro SD card can be bought for $120. It's complete nonsense. The only phone I have found that sadly still costs an arm and a leg but has that option and a snapdragon 888 is the newest Sony phone. I've heard a lot of negatives about that phone though so it doesn't seem like a good choice.

      Like most overpricing schemes, its all thanks to Apple. This is know on the Industry. A few years ago their sales data indicated that as the iphones became better and better, customers stopped replacing them on a yearly basis, and instead kept them on for several years. Since this is Apple, and they have a cult like following that will accept and even defend everything they do, instead of looking for ways to make customers upgrade yearly, they simply decided to significantly increase the price, even though the manufacturing costs are still similar (180 to 400 dollars to make an iPhone) magically now their phones are twice as expensive, and a storage module that cost them anywhere from $9 to $20 dollars, they charge for $100 or even $200. It is a scam. Just like the removal of the headphone jack and the lack of a charger on newer phone packages. The problem is that it works, so the Android OEMs follow suit. Specially Samsung, who copies every "strategy" aka Scam, Apple gets away with.

    • @thargok
      @thargok 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because bus-connected flash is way faster. A high-end microSD card is going to be 20-25 times slower than a quality m.2 drive. To the point that high-end phones can page RAM without much of a noticeable hit. microSD is stuck at throughputs close to that of USB 2.
      That's before you start getting into the cost of more compact components with smaller dies, higher resolution screens, better cameras, etc.

    • @AtomizerX
      @AtomizerX 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The NAND flash used in removable storage (e.g. SD card, USB flash drives) is lower-quality (in terms of performance and longevity) than even eMMC packages (used in many embedded solutions like for smartphones) and particularly UFS-compliant storage (in high-end mobile devices) let alone PC-grade modules (so 2.5" and m.2 drives.) So while I agree that the price premium for a higher capacity mobile device is generally unfair, the actual NAND flash you're getting is higher-quality than the equivalent capacity in a microSD card. That's why you generally don't run the OS or even some applications from an SD card, although now there's an "Application Performance Class" that was specifically created to determine which cards are performant enough to run software from.

    • @mattdavis9601
      @mattdavis9601 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd get this phone. Mainly because at 3:38 the "Benchmarks" shows that the Celero5G is a Wingtech device. Wingtech ODMs for Samsung, so I'm assuming they're pretty good at what they do. Coolpad on the other hand, I don't know much about other than they're affordable. Maybe they're good, maybe they're not. I think this phone is probably a safer bet.
      Edit: ODM; not OEM.
