    My old phone was like 8 years old. I got this A32 as a free upgrade with no plan or contract! I'm pretty happy with it. I play ALOT of emulated games on it and it does pretty good. I play a few Game Cube games, alot of N64, and some PS1, and all the older systems. Like SNES, Genesis, MAME, etc. For what I want to emulate it's a great phone! Especially for FREE lol. I really wish it supported video out through the USB C connection though. Great review as always!

      They sell those hdmi outs that work with any android that does otg. Eta even has a video on one. They're 20$. Which the a32 does
      The quality isn't perfect. This isn't mhl quality. Outputs 1080p, but looks closer to somewhere between 480 and 720. But for retro gaming, it's fantastic! Works on my a20 and fire 10

    Here's a better choice, Oneplus 6. They are around $120 on ebay and this is for the unbranded international version! It has a Snapdragon 845 which blows the Mediatek 720 out of the water, 1080P OLED display, 6-8GB RAM, 64-256GB ROM, and a headphone jack. I bought one a week or two ago and I like it a lot. Only downsides are that the battery is only 3300mah and there is no SD card slot.

    Something I wanna clarify about the CoD run you did ETA. My Realme V5 5G also has the same SoC as this one except that I have my device with 6GB RAM. The GPU is what holds the SoC really hard. That Mali-G57 MP3 only has 3 cores if only Mediatek put 5 cores a.k.a. MP5 and it would fare even better 'cause the CPU, even without boost capabilities does work wonders.
    So on CoD:
    Multiplayer - Medium/FPS High = 60 Fps all day no sweat
    Battle Royale - Medium/FPS High = 40 fps max
    This SoC will handle almost any game no problem even with Punishing: Gray Raven at High Settings and Ultra High Framerate. Emulation is also a breeze. One issue with the SoC is that CoD will somehow make this SoC run hot for no reason. Even with quick matches in Multiplayer like in Shipment Map.
    In Genshin, this is the setting I run with and has no dips whatsoever:
    Render: Low
    Shadow: Medium
    Visual: Low
    SFX: lowest
    Environmental: Medium
    FPS: 30
    Motion Blur and Bloom: Off
    Setting it to 60 FPS mode will make the game bounce between 20 to 49 fps and will stutter hard when the game tries to load assets. You can make it do 60 FPS mode and retain 50+ fps if you slap a cooler like Blackshark Funcooler Pro on your Dimensity 720 device. I've also tried to run Genshin on android with Vulkan turned on... tldr: it'll shat on itself with bad rendering and literal crashes. But that's more of a MiHoYo problem than the device.

    Looks like a great cheaper option. Personally was forced to upgrade my phone on Tello. As my old LG Stylo 3 didn't have GSM or VoLTE as CDMA being phased out of the US networks.
    So decided on a Pixel 3a which is in the same specs range as the Galaxy and for $155 the Pixel 3a a great buy. As like the cleaner google with no bloat and regular updates. And outstanding superior camera over that galaxy for the price. And smaller more compact with 5.8" Oled display.
    Nice review and can never wrap my head around people so willing will cough up 10x times that galaxy price for a phone.

    Hi, can you also do an emulation test on the mid-range A52s 5G?

  • @firisrozley5768
    @firisrozley5768 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Any chance that you could do emulation test on phones powered by MTK Dimensity 1200 like Realme GT Neo, Redmi K40 Gaming (or Poco F3 GT) & the most recent Xiaomi 11T (non-Pro version)?

    I tried playing Silent Hill: Shattered Memories with PPSSPP and it lagged pretty badly on this phone, is that a particularly hard game to run?

    You should really start showing off DOS Box games in the emulation section. Something I'd actually be nostalgic for... but I'm probably in a minority, so...

    In my country we consider $120 phones to be super expensive high end 😭😭😭😭😭

    • @lord_khufu
      @lord_khufu 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      120$ phones is definitely expensive but high end ? No, you'll probably struggle to find this phone for 120$ anywhere else beside the US, usually 120$ phones, tablets, laptops have worse SoC than this.

    I have the A20 that I bought at the beginning of the year. I can't exactly upgrade during my current situation but it is the worst thing any manufacturer has ever built. The touch panel is slow to respond, glitchy and has been from the beginning, and I swapped it for another thinking it was defective. The UI is garbage, the hardware is super slow and I've reset it twice trying to keep it fresh because it's horrible. I swore off of Samsung phones after this one. I understand it is a budget phone, but even the LG budget phone I had before it, blew this thing out of the water. It is on T-Mobile's garbage network, so I'm certain part of its problems come from the service.

      I have one I'm just using for games. It isn't all that great. I still have and use the j7refine I bought in 2018 and it also isn't all too great but at least it has a gorilla glass screen.

    Boost locks wifi on their phones without activation so their phones aren't good for using as emulation only devices

    For a budget phone I'd usually go second hand. I just bought a Oppo Find X2 Pro like new for 400€ and I'll sell my old realme x2 pro with a SD855+ and 8gb of ram for like 150~200€... hard to beat.

    I stumbled into this phone on accident and it really pushed me into emulation. I've messed around with dolphins on other phones I've had and it's ran terribly. But this actually played resident evil 4 at well enough to enjoy it. I've recently upgraded to a pixel 5, but my a32 did great and I'd recommend it to anyone getting started. My only qualm was my inability to root it.

    I still think spending a bit more and getting poco x3 pro is the better move for 90% of the people considering this phone.
