I own all three sizes. They are all awesome guns. My favorite is the LTT compact carry. The mods make it so accurate, easy to shoot and a pleasure to carry.
I got a Px4 compact not long ago. Before then, I was carrying my Ruger Max 9. After I tried the Beretta, my max 9 was gone the next week! Could not be happier with it and shot a better pattern with it right out of the box than I ever did with the Ruger, and pretty much every other handgun that size.
I love my px4 9mm full size. I feel like I shoot better with it than when I shoot my xd9 and glock19. Tighter grouping and way less recoil than the other 2. It replaced my 19 as my night stand companion.
Nice move! It's hard to beat to a PX4 for pure shootability. I'm not sure there's much out there that can compete, in the $500 - $600 price range. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
I am late finding this very good tutorial on the PX4. I bought a well used full size a few years ago. Comparing the wear patern of my gun to Ernest Langdon's torture test gun's internals at different stages, I estimate mine had about 20,000 rounds through it when I bought it. My only service to it was change out the recoil spring/guide rod, change the grip back strap, convert the safety/decocker to decock only, and polish some components. In the 10,000 rounds I have shot with it, it's performance has been flawless. It is definitely one of the most accurate, fastest, and smoothest shooting pistols I have ever owned. You may have something in your suggestion that the length of travel of the barrel could contribute to it's shootability. I do believe that the flatter muzzle rise may also be improved due to the action pushing the weight of the barrel straight backward rather than the barrel being thrown upward during recoil like a Browning tilt barrel design does. I carry the PX4 full size regularly along with an HK USP compact, both wide and blocky handguns. I shoot them both well and have no concealment problems with them. Thanks for a good review of one of my favorite pistols.
Thank you so much for watching... and for offering some context on your experience. Wow--20,000 rounds is a lot. But I know Ernest went up 40 or 50 K with his tests on Pistol Forum. These guns can certainly take it. And, as you said, the accuracy/shootability is incredible. I have around 3000 rounds on mine... haven't changed the spring. I'm honestly not sure what recommended interval is, for a spring change. Should probably look into that. Thanks so much for the comment!
Wow. That says something. I mean, I love the 92, but... I think the PX4 is every bit the duty pistol that the 92 is--plus I think it has some other unique merits in terms of the rotating action, etc. Thanks for chiming in and for watching!
I own a Cougar in 45 acp, and 2 PX4 Storms in 9mm, both from LTT. My compact Storm is my EDC. The Storm is underrated and overlooked. Everyone who has shot one of mine was pleasantly surprised
It’s alittle chunky and heavy for me to want to carry all the time so I went for a LTT G-SD PX4. Which is the full size with the thicker barrel and got all the LTT options on it and man is it insane. Currently my favorite pistol in my collection
It's a fantastic gun. I can't recommend it enough. That said... I wouldn't mind trying an APX myself. Not exactly my "kind" of pistol, but the one's I've handled really felt great in the hand. Beretta certainly knows how to make a solid pistol. Thanks for the comment!
I have a Px4 full size. I got it cheap with night sights (a few years ago). It also has a lanyard loop. I think it might have been an overrun from a law enforcement contract. The only thing it did not have was the extra backstraps. Seems to have the medium. For the price I got, that is not a problem. It shoots very well. I have since purchased low profile G type safety levers for it. Haven't installed them yet. I have an old Ruger KP95DC (very early production) and like the decock only for a self-defense pistol.
That's cool. Yeah, I was surprised to learn how many police/military agencies use the PX4. Clearly, that speaks to its merits as solid, dependable duty pistol... not to mention its stellar shootability. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
It's definitely one of my faves, too. I haven't found anything that quite matches the raw shootability of the PX4. My Walther P5 and my HK P9S come close... but the PX4 is..... magical. Thanks for the comment!
I’ve had mine for years and got no complaints. It’s as accurate as you can shoot and devours all 9mm I’ve fed it. Easy to disassemble and clean. What’s there not to like.
I vaguely remember when these came out. I was still in high school. Hopefully after the holidays I’ll have a chance to try one out for myself and see if it lives up to the hype.
Thanks a lot, sir! They're great guns... and you can't go wrong with the Langdon editions. But any PX4 is great--nothing shoots like a PX4. Thanks so much for watching!
@@gene2049 definitely not on the LTT version-it’s perfectly flush with the slide, and decock only. The regular ones are larger and sharper… but you can order parts to swap those out, if you want.
Dude, you'll be happy with it. That said..... a "plain" PX4 is a fantastic gun as well. The trigger is still good. You still get the zen-like rotating recoil impulse. I'll say mine, initially had a Langdon trigger job in it........ it was so light it was hard to control. I seemed kinda unsafe, actually. Plus it had hammer-follow issues. No shade on LTT..... but..... it was not a good trigger. Ernest personally fixed it for me, though. I'm guess it just has a factory sear in it now? Not entirely sure. But I love it as is... however it is :) Thanks!
You definitely need some kinda PX4 in your life! Honestly, the new G-SD full size.... with the heavy barrel.... has my attention. I might try that, at some point. Thanks!
enjoyed your review, and agree wholeheartedly. after sending it off to Langdon Tactical for the usual upgrades, this is my go-to bump in the night pistol.
Thank you, my friend! I really appreciate the kind words. That is damn good bump-in-the night pistol to have. It's a damn good pistol to have, period. I'll never sell mine. Might even end with another one at some point. Or a Cougar...
This is definitely a hipster gun. I don't know why exactly, but maybe it's because it looks unusual, has an unusual barrel, and has been rejected by the mainstream while at the same time being an excellent gun. Let's start talking about what makes a gun a hipster gun and a gun enthusiast a gun hipster. I would say another candidate is the CZ 75 P-01.
Nice! I haven't tried one in .40. But I imagine the rotating action handles the extra pop very, very well. I did have a Cougar in .45. Softest shooting .45 I think I've ever shot... rivaled even my 4506-1. Thanks for the comment!
Nice! You know, I need to try a full size. As good as the compact shoots, the prospect of even more stability and shootability is... provocative. Thanks a lot for the comment and I hope your LT compact gets to you soon.
@@mgtowski395 they both have grip inserts for different size hands. The grip for compact is shorter though, so if your hands are too big they might hand off the grip.
Yeah, that's a great point. I will say I've shot a Cougar in .45... one of the best feel .45s I've ever shot. I can imagine a rotating system would a great platform for 10mm. Actually Grand Power DOES make a rotating 10mm... Hmmm.
Thanks, man! I appreciate you watching. I've been thinking of grabbing a Grand Power for a while. Actually tried to trade into a P11 MK12, but ended up with a Steyr M9 A2. Which I'm not really sold on. I may try to offer the Steyr for the P11, if the guy still has it. Stay tuned!
I think a factor of the accuracy these are capable of may be due to the barrel moving in a linear fashion instead of tilting upward. With the tilting barrel I could imagine it may not land back in the exact same spot every time it tilts lending to decreased accuracy.
I think there's something to that. That said... Sig P210s and other high-end tilt-barrel guns are as accurate as anything. They tilt. Though not every tilt-barrel gun is put together like a P210 or a Nighthawk. In any case... thanks so much watch for watching and for the comment.
Yup. They're fantastic guns. That's cool you and your wife have "coordinating" PX4s. Beretta's first polymer frame gun was the 9000S. I'd kinda like to get one, just because. Thanks so much watching for the comment!
@@HipsterTactical Good stuff. The only thing Beretta kind of blew it on was the smooth grips. Put Talon grip wraps on both, big improvement. Traction Grips work well too at half the cost of Talons.
i sold guns at sportsmans for a long time and nver showed this gun to anytone cuz i thought it was so ugly. i dont have one but am going to buy soon, now after realizing its potential
Yeah, man. They aren't gonna win any beauty contests... but the things can freakin' shoot. And they're not horribly expensive. Grab one! You won't be disappointed. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much! Glad you found the vid... and glad it was helpful. And hopefully entertaining. I try to discuss the subjective things that I, personally, would want to know about a gun. Glad to hear others find these kind of insights worthwhile. Thanks again and take care!
The travel distance with the barrel locked does seem to be longer with the Px4; that would explain the shorter overall barrel length (and why the rotating barrel wouldn't work on the subcompact). I hadn't heard anyone speculate that this leads to smoother recoil, but that actually sounds pretty plausible!
Thanks for checking that out, man! That’s just a hypothesis at this point… and certainly there are a lot more variables in play… but as you said, it seems plausible. I initially thought maybe the slide travel was longer on the PX4, but it seemed pretty close to other guns. In any case… thanks for watching and I appreciate the sub!
@@HipsterTactical Thank you! I've only checked them out in stores but was thinking about buying one with the rebate. Considering it's a bit big to carry, would you have gone with the full size instead?
@@chrisf247 That's a good question--and I have thought about that myself. If I had it do over again would I have gone with the full size? Honestly, though, I think I'd still go compact. It's just a very versatile size--still MORE carry friendly than the full size... even if it's not going to be your go-to CCW. And I'll reiterate: it's a little thick FOR ME. YMMV, as they say. Plus... I don't think you give up a whole lot of shootability going to the compact. Though I have not actually shot a full size model. Maybe it's even better than the compact? But, as good as the compact is, I find that a pretty tall order. At the end of the day... you can't really go wrong. Good luck in your search!
The Px4 is an accurate, reliable, and durable gun, based on my experience owning one. it possesses the unique Italian flare in design that comes from the oldest gun manufacturer in the world, the Beretta. You won’t go wrong having this as your first gun or one in an addition to your gun collection. A good review that expounds on these unique features and qualities.
Damn, dude. I just looked through Gunbroker… yeah, $650ish seems to be the going rate. When I made this video, they were about $550. You can always find a used one I suppose…
@@HipsterTactical meh I don't mind paying that much bc I know it's worth it. It will be like paying what is was suppsed to be priced hahaha. I have a credit card with a sports store that has it, so that helps a lot too.
I got a fullsize in .45 and I swear it always shot a little bit too the left, everyone who I let use it commented on that. I realized online that it had something to do with throwing off 230 ball. So I got rid of it, but now I come crawling back for a compact in .40 or 9
@@2.0wen Interesting you say that. There’s a .45 at my LGS. I kinda want it. But I’ve read some things about 230 gr not being ideal for the rotating barrel. I dunno. I had Cougar in .45. That thing was a tack driver. In any case… totally recommend a Px4 in 9mm. Thanks!
Storm 45, well built pistol, has done well , really love the 45 Auto, relatively light , easy to fire, super accurate as well, strange design but man it’s good, they have a lot of contracts, doesn’t shoot like a 45 either , not that a 45 is bad , but different and better, it’s a service size gun but good armament
Yeah, I was blown away by how smooth and soft the Cougar was in .45. I'm sure the .45 PX4 is the same way. And yeah, this gun is kind of an "underdog" here in the US, but apparently it's widely used in other countries. It's a great gun. I can see why. Thanks for the comment!
Great job on this video! Two suggestions: 1. Compare this to the Bul Armory SAS Ultra II. 2. Compare this to the Grand Power X-Caliber. I own all three and believe you will be immensely impressed with all three. Clearly these 3 are each different sizes: PX4 = compact, SAS Ultra II = micro-compact, & X-Caliber = full size. But each in their own right are exceptional shooters.
Thanks, buddy! Appreciate the kind words. I came pretty close to buying a Grand Power K100 a few months ago... saw one for cheap. I've never shot a GP and I'd definitely like to see how their take on the rotating barrel compares to the Beretta. The BUL Armory SAS Ultra II certainly looks neat. I've owned a Springfield EMP 9mm (3"). Nice shooter. If I do a teeny 1911ish gun again, I think it might be that new Alpha Foxtrot S15. Takes Glock 48 mags. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I just bought a house... so the gun budget is limited. In any case, thanks for the comment and the suggestions!
@@HipsterTactical - yes, buying a house certainly takes priority. Don’t pass up the Bul SAS Ultra II when you get flush again. It is seriously impressive.
@scottmackey4182: you’re exactly the person I’m hoping to get some feedback from: I’m crossing the PX4 compact carry from LTT and the Bul armory SAS UL2. For context, I have smaller hands, which concerns me about the PX4. Also for context, I love my cajunized CZ p01 with LOL grips and my Sig p229 SAO legion. So I would be open to carrying either a 2011 or a DA/SA (but prob more comfortable with the latter). What gun would you carry between the SAS2 and the PX4 compact ? They’re both technically sub compact (3.25” vs 3.27”). With smaller hands, would the small back strap on the PX4 still make it a softer shooter than the Bul armory, thanks to the rotating barrel ?
@@SigAXG320 - sorry for the delay in responding. I carry both. The SAS is actually shorter and easier to carry. Correct in the fact that the PX4 is slightly easier to shoot because of the rotating barrel. But the SAS is almost more stable. SAS is 1 lb 15 oz while the PX4 is just over 2 lb both fully loaded. Grip circumference on them both is 5.5” so no difference there. In my opinion, the trigger on the SAS is better (1911 style straight pull) where, even with the LTT trigger, the PX4 is more work. Longer pull length. Some like that better for CCW though. I point that out because the distance to trigger face from blackstrap are exactly the same at 2.75” so issue for your reach to either of them.
Did they discontinue the CC? That sucks. They still sell all 3 PX4 sizes, as far as I know. And yes--I feel like no one wanted "tactified" Cheetah. But I do love the original Cheetah... I wish they'd kept it as-is. Thanks for the comment!
@@HipsterTactical You may be able to get the trigger package from LTT but you need to put it in yourself. But it`s still not the same . The Cheetah is nice but not for $7 - $800.00 not when you can get the Ruger for $300.00
The more I learn about the PX4, it's becoming more clear how popular it is around the world as duty pistol. Which, I think, bodes well for Beretta continuing to offer and support the platform. In fact, a Beretta rep on Pistol Forum mentioned that's one reason we're not seeing updated textures and certain other "consumer-y" bells and whistles on the PX4--they've still gotta make it to the original spec, for LE / MIL buyers. Which, I think, speaks highly of the platform. Thanks for the comment!
I was with you up until 17:30 ish where you are talking about slide travel. I'm not sure what point you were making but I shoot the storm faster than any other gun i own
Thank you, my friend! Really appreciate the sub! I think the PX4 is here to stay--Beretta has quite a few LE/MIL contracts for the PX4 overseas. I've heard rumors they plan to expand the line, sometime soon... not sure how true that is. But... like, most "new" offerings these days, it'll probably just be "tacti-fied" / optic-ready versions of what they already have. I'd love to see a compact .45. personally. Anyway... thanks! Should have a video comparing the Walther P38 and the Walther P5 here before too long.
This video is an outstanding presentation. After intensive research, I recently purchased my very first handgun, the Px4 Compact .40, and you provided an excellent comprehensive review and I learned a lot, thank you. I was wondering what you think about something I read stating the rotating barrel is a benefit to reducing muzzle flip because it also pushes back during discharge due to the design, which apparently helps with accuracy.. It seems at least theoretically possible. I'm picking up my Px4 storm tomorrow! I enjoyed your video, thanks again!
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching my humble presentation! Glad you went with the PX4--it's one of the best pistols you can buy, period. Interesting question on the muzzle rise... I mean, I'll I can do is hypothesize... I have a degree in creative writing, not physics... but, I tend to think barrel's cam path redistributes energy differently in the PX4. Partly because of the rotation. Partly because it goes straight back and doesn't tilt. I tend to falling-block guns (like the Beretta 92 and Walther P38/P5) have slightly less muzzle rise than tilting-barrel designs. And, I think, when you add the rotational component, it compensates even more muzzle rise. Again... I'm talking out of my ass, here. Just some a layman's ideas on what might be going on. Anyway... thanks again!
You know, I’m almost ashamed to admit I’ve never seen all of Inception. I caught the second half… was confused AF… but it seemed cool. And now that I know there’s a PX4 in it, I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for chiming in!
Nice. Yeah, I haven't really explored Beretta's more recent bougie 92 offerings. There's one sitting in the case of my LGS. Need to check it out. Thanks!
Thanks, man! Appreciate you reading the review! It's interesting--some people watch reviews, some people just want to read. Figure it makes sense to cover both. And yeah... maybe I ramble a bit, too. Take care and thanks again!
Awesome! Thank you so much, my friend! Just posted my writeup of the Archon Type-B on my site, if you're interested. I'll have a video on that up in a few weeks. Thanks again!
I own a full-size px4 storm, and I absolutely love it. The best shooting gun I’ve ever shot. But I’m wondering, if so, great, which it is, Why haven’t the other manufacturer not making them? Is there a patent on it?
That is a really good question. I actually took a "spin" (pun intended) through Google patents, looking for something on rotating barrels. I didn't see anything from Beretta. I mean, other companies DO make rotating-barrel pistols: Grand Power and Bond Arms (Bullpup pistol) being two examples. But, I get the sense most manufacturers probably don't see the upside in terms of investing in a "less known" mechanical system. Tilt barrels work. People buy tilt barrels. So, that's what companies build. I mean... that's just kind of a theory. But.... I think you can usually bet on manufacturing companies following the path of least resistance when it comes engineering things. Thanks!
The tilt barrel that you’re referring to is considered and called the browning design. I don’t know why more companies don’t go with what Beretta and archon is doing. There is less muzzle flip
I bought a PX4 Compact, and Langdonized it. Nearly a year later, I decided to buy the factory upgraded PX4 Compact, and it didn’t shoot nearly as well as the first. I dunno….
Hmm. That’s weird. I rented a “normal” PX4 compact years ago and I own this one. That rental one impressed me. And I’ve always been impressed with this one. Maybe the DIY upgrades gave you a better trigger? In any case… thanks a lot for watching, as usual.
Yeah, I think the Cougar and the PX4 represent their efforts to improve on the 92 platform. And, in many ways.... I think they PX4 platform does improve on the 92. But I still love the 92. Thanks for the comment!
Haha. Thanks dude! I always hated that game because I was really good at 1st person shooters on a PC… but I would get my ass handed to me in golden eye. But it was still neat. Thanks!
Great review, I agree with your carry comments. I use it as my nightstand gun with an o light, it shoots so well. My LTT version only cost me one arm, still have my leg. 😂
@@HipsterTactical yeah the store is called Turners. Sale started on a Friday. I walked in Saturday and was able to place an order. $300 bucks was too good to pass up.
Dude, I've had two USPs--a .45 full size and a .45 compact. As well as a P2000 in 9mm. The HKs are great guns, no doubt... but they can't touch the PX4 in terms of shootability. I think a PX4 might stop running sooner, when subjected to extreme abuse and neglect... but... that's in extreme cases. The PX4 platform kicks ass, for sure. Check one out. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for the comment!
I love the old world (CZ24 27) rotating barrel but a Full Size pistol should have a 5" minimum barrel, 5.5 and 6" better. Sight radius matters. The SD model with 4.5" barrel in FDE interests me much more. Lots more money . Loved the Baretta lesson 👍💥
Thanks, man! Yeah, the SD PX4 is so freakin' cool. I'd love to try a CZ-24, as well. I recall an episode of Forgotten Weapons about an experimental Walther PP/P38 hybrid that used a rotating barrel. That would have been soooo cool. But, seems like the idea of the rotating barrel was live and well back then. Thanks for the comment!
Thank you so much, bro! I really appreciate that. That track came out well. I've been so busy with videos and articles I haven't been making as many beats... gonna get back in the swing of things here, soon. And, yeah--the LTT PX4 never disappoints. Thanks for the comment!
I've been looking for a Grand Power P1 lately, very similar to the PX4 but they've become super hard to find in the last year so I may just get a PX4 compact instead.
Oh nice! I was interested in trying a P11--which is the more "subcompact-ish" Grand Power. When I could find one for sale, it was usually the safety only model--would definitely prefer a decocker. Most of what I've heard about the GPs suggests they're excellent shooters (again, rotating barrels). There was beater full size GP (K100, I think?) at a local gun shop. Was somewhat tempted. In any case... good luck tracking one down and thanks for watching!
Dude... agree. When James Reeves interviewed Carlo Ferlito at Beretta, he mentioned some new shiz was coming in the PX4 line. I would LOVE to see a compact .45 PX4, personally. It's weird--the .45 is actually mentioned in the PX4 Compact manual! So... they designed it. They just need to release it. I'd also love to see a PX4 with a metal frame. I mean, it'll just be cuts for options and ergo changes. Which is fine. But... I can dream about a compact, rotating barrel .45. Thanks for the comment!
I have two Px4 Storm compacts, one in 9mm and the other in 40. Both shoot extremely well, and the rotating barrel system does a nice job of taming the recoil of the 40. I did own a Beretta 9000 in 9mm. It's a bad gun for several reasons: first the ergonomics of the grip actually hurt the hand under recoil, second, the double action trigger is a loooong heavy pull that doesn't break until it's all the way back and this forces your trigger finger into an awkward position (because of that grip). It also has some annoying "features", like pushing up on the decocker to activate it, and the tilting barrel system has its locking lugs on the side of the barrel hood, making the gun fat. Overall, it's a poor design and withdrawn for good reason, despite appearing in a Tom Cruise movie.
Yeah, I bet the rotating barrel is a nice platform for .40. I had a Cougar and .45... thing was buttered sex. Yeah, I have held a 9000. Deeeep grip, front to back. Still... if you watch Hop's video on the 9000, he shoots some damn nice groups with the thing. They're so cheap... I kinda just want one for posterity. Thanks for the comment!
If I didnt already have a few guns already filling this role, I would definitely get this. If I didn’t already have the P30, P01, P07, I would love to carry this. Probably leaning towards the P30SK but this PX4 Storm is very intriguing
I had the PX4 Compact Carry, but replaced it with the HK P30SK, from LTT. The Beretta is an awesome gun and I shot it well, but it was just chunkier and heavier than I wanted to carry, and I had better options for home defense. Compare the triggers on these guns. HK has more variants, and Langdon will smooth and lighten triggers on both the Beretta and the HK, which really helped on the HK and I’m sure would on the Beretta, also.
@@scooter5940 and that’s my point. If I didn’t have what I mentioned, I would definitely grab the Beretta. I love the P30 so much I want the SK too lol.
Yeah, there are a few contenders in this general DA/SA size niche. I've owned a P2000 DA/SA and a CZ PCR, personally... and I currently own a Walther P99. I felt the P2000 was just "meh" to shoot. The PCR shot very accurately... but both modern CZs I've owned (also a RAMI) seemed more finicky with ammo. Both had some FTFs with reman that my other guns ran fine with. So, I dunno... the PX4 just does everything well. Except the fact that it's chunky. Thanks for the comment!
@@scooter5940 How does the LTT p30sk shoot compared to the PX4 compact ? I have smaller hands and I loved the way the standard p30 felt in my hands, while I did not like how the full sized px4 fit. But, when hearing about the rotating barrel design makes the px4 so soft shooting and accurate, it’s making me re think what my carry gun should be (p01 cajunized right now - but want something a bit smaller but still easy to shoot).
Definitely. And I don't think you'd ever have a "thin" slide with a rotating barrel. And I wouldn't want that--the PX4 is great just the way it is. Thanks!
I absolutely love my p10 and cz75. But, yes you should. My 92 was my first handgun. It like the 75 is bulky, heavy, and prints real bad. The px4 compact is literally my favorite carry gun and it replaced my precious p99. Almost zero print depending on the holster, and a great single action trigger. I just bought one lol. You'll feel the difference when you have squeeze the trigger for the first time. (Especially since the p10 has average striker fire trigger pull)
I agree with @bryanakerjr6508 --you do certainly feel a difference whenever you squeeze the trigger. The PX4 is suuuuch a great shooter. For me--as I said--it's a little bulky for carry. But I agree in that it really doesn't print much if you don't mind the girth. Also... obviously the PX4 is DA/SA. The P10c is a fully cocked striker-fired action. So, pros and cons to each... but I prefer DA/SA for carry, personally. Good luck! You'll love the PX4 if you get one.
Do you have any time behind the full size Px4 in comparison to the compact? If so any difference in the shootability and accuracy? I'm looking at the Langdon editions and am torn between the two. I can conceal a 17rnd pistol, but it's a bit more difficult. 15 would be perfect, but I'm not crazy about that super short barrel. Why is there no 15rnd, 4" barrel version? Come on beretta!
No I don’t, unfortunately. And I agree-that form factor would be a nice combo. Or the compact slide, with a subcompact grip. If I was in the market for a new PX4… I’d take a hard look at the new G-SD model they announced at Shot (not to be confused with that FDE .45 thing they’ve had for a while). This new thing is a full-size 9mm px4 that uses a heavier barrel profile (which the compact already uses) to make it shoot even softer. Sounds pretty sweet. Either way… you don’t notice the short barrel in the compact. It’s one of my most accurate guns… period. Good luck, man!
I had a Grand Power with the rotating barrel. Very soft and low recoil. Was too large for my needs though as it was a fullsize but bought it anyways because I've never seen it before and wanted to try something new. I recently purchased a PX4 Compact to finally try one as I think they're hideous and the gun looked bulky plus the awful safety levels that stick out so far. (Also hate slide safeties) Haven't shot it yet but hope its as good or better than the GP I had otherwise I'll be hunting for other GPs that are smaller or slimmer than the PX4
A Grand Power has been on my list to try for a while. The PX4 certainly isn’t beautiful-though I think the compact has the best proportions. But… damn, the thing can shoot. I hope you dig yours. Would be Interested to hear how you think it compares to the GP. Thanks for the comment!
Man I've probably watched this video 8 times now. There's a brand new px4 compact near me on the way home from work. I might have to grab it. No LTT upgrades but i could add those myself. Better to grab directly from LTT or do one up myself. The price in the end is almost exactly equal. And if i do i myself the np3 coating is off the menu. Help! Lol
@@willy4869 thanks for the views, homey! Honestly, I don’t think there’s a wrong answer. But believe me-a regular px4 is freakin fine. I’ve shot a regular one, and unless you get the actual hands-on Langdon trigger work.., I don’t feel the difference is that dramatic. Plus, it’s easy to swap in lighter hammer springs and the OP trigger bar
@HipsterTactical i think I'm gonna have to grab that thing. So many people rave about this pistol. You seem to really love it and our tastes are pretty similar. I love the 229 but I'm holding out for a full stainless. I love the P99AS and regret selling nine. Thanks for the little "nudge" to pull the trigger, as they say.
I just Shot this.. And I felt the exact same way. 7 yds, 5 bullets. 1 big ass hole the size of a shotgun slug...I am lucky to find it at my range for $330, with 5-15rd mags and 4-10rd mags. That's like a $900 value for $330..😊
Nice. Yeah, I had an P2000SK LEM for a while. Didn't love the LEM, honestly--but I can imagine Ernest works some magic on it. Thanks for the comment and for the support!
Outstanding review. It seems to shoot great but it’s a thick brick and therefore probably not the right carry gun for me, with all due respect to the legend himself, Mr Langdon. Before this review, I was truly thinking about a LTT PX4 compact carry, but if the barrel is wider than my Sig p229, that’s a no go. I would rather carry that, which is a SAO legion (maybe one of the best triggers ever right out of the box). But now you have me thinking about a LTT HK p30sk instead. It’s just a compromise finding a smaller carry gun that shoots well ….. #1st world Problems.
Thanks so much for the kind words! Appreciate you watching. And yeah... all these guns are thiiiick, unfortunately. I honestly don't think the HK is going be much of an improvement over a PX4, honestly--HK slides are chunky (I just bought a USP, actually--it's a chonk). Have you tried a Sig P239? It's definitely smaller and slimmer than all of the above... and it's very accurate. Maybe not quite as intuitive as the PX4, but, to me, it shoots as well as anything else from Sig or HK. Of course it is out of production. Good luck!
I do carry mine on occasion. But, it's not really a go to. It's just too fat. I will say FOR a fat gun... the smooth/rounded contours make reasonably comfortable. But it's still feels some "brickish" in the pants.
@@HipsterTactical After I saw your video, I did see a side by side with the p30sk. You're absolutely right-- it's really thick too. I think in the eternal quest of finding something slim/compact but that's still shootable, I'm leaning more towards a SS CR920p or a shield plus with the ported slide-- Basically, something to offset the snappiness of such a small gun. The option: the new Sig p365 AXG legion, but it's pricey. I LOVE my p320 AXG legion, and I've read reviews where the new 365 version of this shoots as well. I think the SS CR920p is also a really good option from what I've read: a very flat shooter. And yes, I know the drawbacks of carrying comp'd or ported gun aren't for everyone: ie, gasses going up in the face.
Now you got 577 subscribers. I liked the video even though it was a little long. I have a PX4 full size in .40 caliber. I was late to the show on this one also. I just got mine used about a year ago. Really under the radar gun. Like you I kind of collect military and police grade handguns, revolvers and semi-autos alike. I have had a Beretta 92fS since around 2003 and I have always liked it for the icon it is. When they became popular in the 80's I could absolutely not afford one but picked one up in 2003 when it looked as though I would be deployed. Figured I would smuggle it to my destination as I was not issued a handgun with my military unit. Never came to pass but I hung on to it since then. The Storm just never appealed to me and then while buying a few .40 caliber handguns because they were selling cheap a year or so ago I got the one I have and loved it. One of my favorite hammer fired guns,
You know what they say… 577’s a charm. And while you’re at it, could you subscribe 423 more times so I can start getting paid for this shiz? Just kidding. But seriously-I appreciate the sub and the comment. Yeah, I suppose 30 min is somewhat long. I could easily get around 20 if I cut out the background/history. But I figure people can skip around to what interests them. And yes… it took me a minute to drink the PX4 Kool Aid, too. But I’m glad I did… it does sort of have a cult following (to continue the Kool Aid metaphor). It’s becoming a classic in its own right. And Seeing as this is basically my most successful video to date… I’d say it’s gained a solid following. In any case… thanks again.
Nice! You've covered both ends of the PX4 spectrum. I've never shot a full-size or a subcompact. Perhaps I need to change that... Thanks for watching and for the comment!
The thing I love about the Compact Carry is the low-profile levers. It definitely makes a difference with carry. I didn't mind the trigger on the normal compact. Or the sights, really. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Yeah, I'm working on some better EQ/Compression strategies. Also need to find some other 808 samples--some work better in different mixing contexts than others. Thanks for the tip!
Deadpool and Leslie Jones are pretty in comparison. Commies make better aesthetic choices than polymer berettas. The looks on the px4 is why I believe in the devil. He lives in Italy
Hahaha. No one buys the PX4 for looks... you buy it for its fun-loving personality and.... umm, athleticism? Honestly, though, I think the compact has the best proportions of all the PX4s.
Langdon Tactical's customer service is an absolute joke. Recommend you don't buy ANYTHING directly from them. They shipped the wrong parts, then tell you to pound sand. They were out of stock on the parts ordered, shipped something else, and claimed I ordered the wrong part because they were out of stock on what I ordered. A truckload of word salad to justify they're shitty customer service. Just trying to save the gun community some large headaches.
The one time I dealt with them, they were great. I literally sent my PX4 to Ernest’s house, when the trigger job I paid for was too light for my tastes. That was a while ago, though. Sorry about your experience.
Dude, thank you! Can you subscribe 19 more times and we can call it a day? Haha. Just kidding. But seriously--appreciate you watching and checking out my stuff. More coming this summer...
I think it was the Fudds that killed the PX4 vibe when it initially came out..."ROTATING BARREL??!! Noooo Sirry Bob, ill stick with my 2 WORLD WARS, Proven, John Brown Tilting Barrel.😂
Haha. Yeah, you're probably right, dude. And I think the Colt 2000 All American was fresh in Fudd consciousness... that had a rotating barrel... it sucked... so anything with a rotating barrel must suck. Thanks for the comment!
I own all three sizes. They are all awesome guns. My favorite is the LTT compact carry. The mods make it so accurate, easy to shoot and a pleasure to carry.
Yeah, I haven't tried the other sizes. But I feel like the compact is the sweet spot in terms of size/shootability, etc. Thanks for the comment!
So expensive tho… shit ….
Prices have gone up thanks to Langdon tactical, tfbtv and going to stay high now that 1911 syndicate did their video with Langdon tactical
I agree. The mods on the newer compact carry 2 make it worth the price. I had to upgrade mine with those after the fact.
Doesn't surprise me at all. There's a certain magic with Beretta's rotating action. The PX4 is such a natural, intuitive shooter. Thanks!
I have had a standard px4 for years and love it
I love mine. It's hard not to love a gun that shoots that well. Thanks for the comment!
@@HipsterTactical both the compact and fullsize are smooth shooting
I love my px4 9mm full size. I feel like I shoot better with it than when I shoot my xd9 and glock19. Tighter grouping and way less recoil than the other 2. It replaced my 19 as my night stand companion.
Nice move! It's hard to beat to a PX4 for pure shootability. I'm not sure there's much out there that can compete, in the $500 - $600 price range. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!
My first pistol, 400 bucks. Been sitting stored for 10+ years but now they have awesome aftermarket parts. Time for a glow up for my chunky girl
Hell yeah, dude! I remember when they were that cheap. Worth every penny. Thanks!
The South African Police force had about 40.000 PX4 ordered for their police force. The PX4 replaced their Beretta 92 series as an official side arm.
Nice! I had a Cougar in .45, as well. Really wish I still had it. And I agree--everyone who shoots the PX4 loves it. And so do I! Thanks for watching!
It’s alittle chunky and heavy for me to want to carry all the time so I went for a LTT G-SD PX4. Which is the full size with the thicker barrel and got all the LTT options on it and man is it insane. Currently my favorite pistol in my collection
I just bought a Beretta APX A1 Full Size, and now the more I look at this gun, I want a PX4 Storm Compact Carry
It's a fantastic gun. I can't recommend it enough. That said... I wouldn't mind trying an APX myself. Not exactly my "kind" of pistol, but the one's I've handled really felt great in the hand. Beretta certainly knows how to make a solid pistol. Thanks for the comment!
@@HipsterTactical seriously, within a few days of posting that, I purchased the PX4 Storm Compact Carry.
@@HipsterTactical You should check out the HK VP9B
PX4 Storm is by far the most manifestly underrated gun one the market today.
Can't disagree, my man. But... given the fact that this is my most popular video... people seem to be discovering it.
I've carried a PX4cc for about 2 years now, my favorite handgun of all time.
Totally try one out. I think you'll love it. For me, it really does live up the hype. Thanks for the comment!
Liked the video. Good info. I’m still thinking about a PX4 Storm. Love the way it looks. Definitely want the LTT version.
Thanks a lot, sir! They're great guns... and you can't go wrong with the Langdon editions. But any PX4 is great--nothing shoots like a PX4. Thanks so much for watching!
@@HipsterTactical does the slide mounted safety/decocker get in the way? Thanks.
@@gene2049 definitely not on the LTT version-it’s perfectly flush with the slide, and decock only. The regular ones are larger and sharper… but you can order parts to swap those out, if you want.
Nice Review! I'm on the fence about getting a Gucci LTT version and you are pushing me over it.
Same here, bud
Thanks!
Very good description of how the recoil feels in hand
@@damiantorres2655 Thank you, my friend! The PX4 has an incredible feel.
enjoyed your review, and agree wholeheartedly. after sending it off to Langdon Tactical for the usual upgrades, this is my go-to bump in the night pistol.
Thank you, my friend! I really appreciate the kind words. That is damn good bump-in-the night pistol to have. It's a damn good pistol to have, period. I'll never sell mine. Might even end with another one at some point. Or a Cougar...
I love all my Berettas, just wish these could use 92 magazines since I have like 50 of them.
Yeah, that would be awesome if you could put 92 mags in the PX4. Interestingly, I think the Beretta 9000 will take 92 mags. I kinda want one...
Yep the CZ p01 is comparable
...H&K .P7M8....
Have the full size in 40 cal ..around 25 to 30% less recoil than most comparable guns. It also looks pretty sleek in my view
Nice! I haven't tried one in .40. But I imagine the rotating action handles the extra pop very, very well. I did have a Cougar in .45. Softest shooting .45 I think I've ever shot... rivaled even my 4506-1. Thanks for the comment!
Walther q4sf vs beretta px4 storm 9mm!
Ohhh. I would love to have a Q4SF. Unfortunately... I'm not rich. Accepting gun donations, though! Thanks for the comment!
Underrated gun. Just sent out my compact for a RDO from Langdon Tactical. Currently carrying a full size as I wait for my compact
Nice! You know, I need to try a full size. As good as the compact shoots, the prospect of even more stability and shootability is... provocative. Thanks a lot for the comment and I hope your LT compact gets to you soon.
Which do you prefer? Also, will it fire w/o a mag inserted?
@@mgtowski395 compact and yes. There’s no mag disconnect
F model easier/more comfortable for large hands? I'm more interested in the compact. Thanks.
@@mgtowski395 they both have grip inserts for different size hands. The grip for compact is shorter though, so if your hands are too big they might hand off the grip.
The rotating barrel design seems like it would lend itself well to a heavy-recoiling cartridge like 10mm. I wish they'd make this gun in that caliber.
Yeah, that's a great point. I will say I've shot a Cougar in .45... one of the best feel .45s I've ever shot. I can imagine a rotating system would a great platform for 10mm. Actually Grand Power DOES make a rotating 10mm... Hmmm.
Grand power has a 10mm with rotating barrel, model p40.
Will you do a review on the new Grand Power 9mm C-Calibur or some other model with the tilting barrel. Love your in depth reviews.
Awesome handguns. I have the compact and bought my wife the sub compact for Christmas. I think that’s Beretta’s first poly frame.
Yup. They're fantastic guns. That's cool you and your wife have "coordinating" PX4s. Beretta's first polymer frame gun was the 9000S. I'd kinda like to get one, just because. Thanks so much watching for the comment!

Good stuff. The only thing Beretta kind of blew it on was the smooth grips. Put Talon grip wraps on both, big improvement. Traction Grips work well too at half the cost of Talons.

Also it has no problem with different ammo unlike many tilting barrel pistols
Yeah, mine has never had an issue in over 2000 rounds.
Great opening. Good review.
Thank you, my friend! Appreciate you watching.
I wish I would've known about the rotating barrel when they were like 450. Now they're like 650

Nice! I need to try a full size at some point. But... the compact never disappoints. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks!

What I think is
With tilting barrel guns
The action of tilting creates more recoil.
I think you’re right. It’s more jarring and sudden.
I thought the safety levers were sharp so I used a file to smooth out the edges and I like it much better
Yeah, the factory levers are stabby as hell. I don’t disagree with that approach. Thanks!
Thanks great vid. They are a soft and accurate shooter. I enjoy my PX4 compact
Thank you, sir! Very accurate. Very soft shooting. Nothing shoots quite like a PX4, that I've found... except maybe a Cougar :)
Your right the PX4 Compact Carry then Beretta went and discontinued it. A put out the 80x instead
The Cheetah is nice but not for $7 - $800.00 not when you can get the Ruger for $300.00
The px4 was slow to gain traction in the USA, but with Europeans it was quite popular.
Thanks for the comment!
you don't need all that empty space above your head. framing is important. thank you for your review
Good call. I'm always improving my approach to production. Thanks for the tip!
I was with you up until 17:30 ish where you are talking about slide travel. I'm not sure what point you were making but I shoot the storm faster than any other gun i own
I really enjoyed this video and subscribed. The px4 is underrated for sure and I sure hope Beretta plans on keeping it around for a while.
The compact version of the dicaprio gun from inception!

Thanks!
Easily one of the of the BEST gun out there under ANY standpoint
Well said, good sir. Thanks for watching!
I read the review because I read much faster than you talk. Great review! And thanks for the print edition.
Thanks, man! Appreciate you reading the review! It's interesting--some people watch reviews, some people just want to read. Figure it makes sense to cover both. And yeah... maybe I ramble a bit, too. Take care and thanks again!
Just came across your page. Very good info! I subscribed
Awesome! Thank you so much, my friend! Just posted my writeup of the Archon Type-B on my site, if you're interested. I'll have a video on that up in a few weeks. Thanks again!
I own a full-size px4 storm, and I absolutely love it. The best shooting gun I’ve ever shot. But I’m wondering, if so, great, which it is,
Why haven’t the other manufacturer not making them?
They looked back on the 92 and done what they thought could be better.. not just because the cougar or polymer
Yeah, I think the Cougar and the PX4 represent their efforts to improve on the 92 platform. And, in many ways.... I think they PX4 platform does improve on the 92. But I still love the 92. Thanks for the comment!
Love the Nintendo 64 007 inspired beat lol !! Was playing that game last week
Surprisingly, my shotgun at 15 feet consistently gives me groups just like his: every time.
lmao
I can hack a loogie accurately at 15 feet, bruh.
A shotgun is hard to beat for home defense
Is that a shotgun down your pants or are you happy to see me?
Just got one for $399.99 plus it has a $100 rebate. So for $299.99 in 2024 here in California is a steal.
Wow! Seriously? That's a hell of a deal. Congrats, my friend!
@@HipsterTactical yeah the store is called Turners. Sale started on a Friday. I walked in Saturday and was able to place an order. $300 bucks was too good to pass up.
i dismissed this cuz i didnt do well with berettas. and was dead set for HK USP 9mm.
now I'm rethinking stuff.

@@MartianBuddy Awesome! There’s plenty on gnbroker right now-just under $600. Good luck!

@@HipsterTactical Keep laying down the beats Bro 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
We need a PX4 version 2.0... I have been hoping for an updated version for a long time.
Dude...
What you think needs to be upgraded.
I like mine. It is uncannily accurate and easy to shoot (once you know the trigger).
Yup. Can't disagree. The thing never ceases to impress me.
Agree, the PX4 is bulky. Cool that Langdon is doing HKs now. If he comes to close to doing what he did with the PX4, it outta be good.
@@scooter5940
How does the LTT p30sk shoot compared to the PX4 compact ? I have smaller hands and I loved the way the standard p30 felt in my hands, while I did not like how the full sized px4 fit. But, when hearing about the rotating barrel design makes the px4 so soft shooting and accurate, it’s making me re think what my carry gun should be (p01 cajunized right now - but want something a bit smaller but still easy to shoot).
The extra girth on the slide is due to its design. The gun was designed to fire .40
Definitely. And I don't think you'd ever have a "thin" slide with a rotating barrel. And I wouldn't want that--the PX4 is great just the way it is. Thanks!
Sweet looking gun.
Thanks, man! I appreciate it.
Thinking about trading my CZ P10c to get the PX4 Storm. Any opinions?
I absolutely love my p10 and cz75. But, yes you should. My 92 was my first handgun. It like the 75 is bulky, heavy, and prints real bad.
The px4 compact is literally my favorite carry gun and it replaced my precious p99. Almost zero print depending on the holster, and a great single action trigger. I just bought one lol. You'll feel the difference when you have squeeze the trigger for the first time. (Especially since the p10 has average striker fire trigger pull)
Cool thanks for that
I agree with @bryanakerjr6508 --you do certainly feel a difference whenever you squeeze the trigger.
Ahhh...i was aware of the new G-SD with the bull barrel, but i was not aware that the compact had a thicker barrel already. Thanks for that.
@@willy4869 Yeah, I kinda think they adapted the compact barrel profile to work in the full-size. Which is neat.
I love my Cougar 8040 G.
Nice! I really want to get a Cougar (again). Had one in .45. Still kicking myself for selling it. Thanks for the comment!

Thanks, my friend! Glad you enjoyed it.

And I felt the exact same way. 7 yds, 5 bullets. 1 big ass hole the size of a shotgun slug...I am lucky to find it at my range for $330, with 5-15rd mags and 4-10rd mags. That's like a $900 value for $330..😊
Ohhh! Nice! That's a great price. And yes--the things make shooting tight groups almost easy. Congrats on the stellar deal, my friend!
That H&K P30 LEM that Ernest Langdon is now producing is phenomenal. It always for the long trigger pull but its butter smooth and light!

Full size G model. 9 mm. What I carry.
Cool, man. I need to try a full size at some point. I kinda wanna try the .45 full size. Because... it's a .45 :) Thanks for the comment!
As much as I like to shoot my Px4 compact
, there’s just no way I can carry it concealed. Too bad, it’s a fantastic firearm.
@@HipsterTactical
After I saw your video, I did see a side by side with the p30sk.
@@HipsterTactical as far as carry goes, I’m an LCP kinda guy lol!
