have to agree....ive seen john live and he has performed this song thousands of times around the world....even on his albums.....i have never heard him this song, or anyone else sing this song better than this. Is why i class JOJ the greatest singer Britain has right now.....he is simply brilliant
I've been searching for the best version of this song for a while now. This is hands down the best! JOJ is awesome, and personally I think a slight better than Colm.
The control, the softness, his voice brings me to a halt every time... it's so moving. Then he opens up at 2:00 unleashing the power of his voice. I wish, so badly, that I had seen him perform live...
I love how every single person who plays Jean Valjean interprets this song differently. Colm Wilkinson was all about his big notes, JOJ softens it down and Alfie Boe has this electrifying intensity when he sings this
A clip of Jefff Leyton the Irish Jean Valjean from the 10th Anniversary singing Bring him home, The Les Miserables open air concert in Highlands park Chelmsford, Thirty two thousand people. It was never released to the public untill now.
(This is my new account, I'm the uploader) This has been my obsession since I was 14 (19 now). Musicals like Les Miserables have lasted longer than any mainstream radio stuff, which is enough proof for me that this is true mastery of the musical arts.
@Monkeyballmania I know your comment is old, but that is exactly why I love him too! :D I don't think it sounds beautiful at all with really heavy vibrato...
@njishottlikeatamale Not at all. I'm 18 and whenever I see Les Miserables I'm always head over heels for Valjean by the end of the musical. :D But John Owen Jones is pretty much a god.
Can understand why he has all of these admirers, mainly female. He has a powerful voice no question, and looks good and majors on the over dramatic. He's a bit 'shouty' for me, prefer Jeff Leyton. who has a more sensitive and subtle approach :)
Lovely performance from the only Valjean that comes close to Colm Wikinson. JOJ is, from a tecnical perspective, a better singer than Wilkinson. However, while JOJ sings and performs beautifully, he is playing Valjean while Wilkinson IS Valjean.
Correct Anthony c. Jeff Leyton is God at this song. A league on his own. This fellas soft voice is beautiful but far too much chest voice. Why why why?
Obviously very good, but to my taste, a bit too controlled. His voice lacks the grit of Colm. His style is slightly too pop as well again for my taste. Sorry.
This performance of this song, changed my life forever.
John Owen Jones, nobody does it better. He sings the song the way it should be sang ,with reverance and sincerity. I love him.
Yes... JOJ is one of the very greatest singers and actors to ever come to the stage. He's among the best Valjeans and also an INCREDIBLE Phantom.
I'm terrified that one day this version will be taken down and I'll never get to watch the greatest performance of this song ever again.
I saw him live tonight in Cardiff - Words Cannot Describe how amazing he is. He is By Far the best Valjean.
This is by far the best version of this I've ever heard.

By far the best Valjean

THIS is pure perfection. Wish there was a huge orchestra behind him though, that would be fantastic!
"And through music my soul began to soar" He is fantastic!!!
He deserved a standing ovation =)

Simply Beautiful - I have seen him live at Bristol and he is an amazing performer...stunning x
THis is one of the best performances that I have ever heard. I get chills everytime.
The control, the softness, his voice brings me to a halt every time... it's so moving. Then he opens up at 2:00 unleashing the power of his voice. I wish, so badly, that I had seen him perform live...
Met him seen him 6 times
I love how every single person who plays Jean Valjean interprets this song differently. Colm Wilkinson was all about his big notes, JOJ softens it down and Alfie Boe has this electrifying intensity when he sings this
I was there last night! Never thought I'd find a bit of this on TH-cam!

The JoJ
100% JOJ
but i think that his 'the music of the night' is the best. Nobody did better than him in the sentence 'let your spirit start to soar'.
SAW HIM IN PHANTOM IN EDINBURGH .I RETURN SATURDAY TO THE USER HALL
NEED I SAY MORE
100% JoJ
God Owen-Jones.
top 3 valjeans-Colm Wilkinson, Alfie Boe and our man JOJ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@princessetris Cool! Not very strange that I didn't recognize it. Thanks :)
me too he makes me wanna catch a shark with my bare hands:D
Looks like he got the JoJ.
But you'd like to do it all over again right?
I agree
he has an album
@anthology77 The song is supposed to be soft but desperate, not really intense but in truth it does has its intense parts. I love both JOJ and Colm!!!
@Monkeyballmania I know your comment is old, but that is exactly why I love him too! :D I don't think it sounds beautiful at all with really heavy vibrato...
IMO he's today's equivalent of Colm Wilkinson.
what about HOH SIS
HOH SIS.
That is all.
HOH SIS
@Titan1143 You're welcome!
which language is this?? I can usually tell, but this is a hard one! :)
@TheVildee Welsh!
He would have been a great candiadte for the les mis movie. Hugh Jackman was good
@Nerris121 agreed
@njishottlikeatamale Not at all. I'm 18 and whenever I see Les Miserables I'm always head over heels for Valjean by the end of the musical. :D But John Owen Jones is pretty much a god.
One does not simply forget Ramin Karimloo.
What language are they speaking at the beg and end?
Osama Hamid Welsh/Cymraeg
Osama Hamid welsh

Poor video quality.
Good but to me David Miller did it a little better....
Not the best by any stretch, but a good version, have heard better!
not as good as colm wilkinson's version
