I've seen Anthony live many times and he leaves me breathless every single time. To this day he is the only artist who stirs so much emotion in me that I am reduced to tears (for the right reasons). He is my favourite and I am privileged to be able to say that I have seen him perform the phantom on two occasions. Anthony, to call you a star is not enough, you are a living legend.
Anthony Warlow without doubt is one of the great Musical Theatre singers of the world. His voice is just magnificent, I am happy to say I have most of his recoded CD's, they take pride of place on my mp3 player as well.
Sorry that I am replying a year later! I just discovered this great singer and man a few days ago. My cousin lives in Australia and she is a singer. She has met him a couple of times and says he is a wonderful person, as well as a great singer! My whole body became a goose bump from the very first note! So, yes, chills, goose bumps and complete awe :)
Anthony voice is just so beautiful...this is my favourite version....i heard him live and i found tears were running down my face. You are drawn into the music and feel the words
Just when I thought I had already heard the best ever versions I listen to this one, absolutely superb, goosebumps and lump in throat, this is the human voice at its ultimate best x
Today is the very first I have ever heard of Anthony Warlow. This guy is an absolutely amazing singer. Incredible voice. I feel I have missed out on something so wonderful for so long.
I saw the Les Mis movie yesterday. Jackman did a wonderful job. Warlow's falsetto is an instrument, that's for sure. He spoiled the world with his Jekyll and Hyde concept CD, and all others pale in comparison. Warlow is currently in Annie on Broadway, and my wife and I decided just now to go and see him while he's stateside. When discussing the best singer in the world, one must make sacrifices to go and see him when it's practical to do so! Thanks for the response.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. And I mean it. Can't believe I have never known him before since I started being obsessed with musicals.
You can all argue all you want, but I'd like to add that tonight I saw Anthony Warlow in Dr Zhivago and he was brilliant. This man makes what he does seem effortless and he does need us to defend him....his work speaks for itself. I'm just grateful that Australia has such a phenomenally talented singer/actor for us to enjoy time and time again.
God on high hear my prayer In my need you have always been there. He is young, he's afraid let him rest heaven blessed. Bring him home, bring him home. He's like the son I might have known, If God had granted me a son. The summers die one by one how soon they fly on and on, and I am old and will be gone. Bring him peace, bring him joy he is young, he is only a boy. You can take, you can give, let him be, let him live. If I die, let me die, let him live, bring him home, bring him home. Elli x
For Veteran's Day, this stranger student at my school sang this song. Being the amazing announcements-listener that I am, I didn't realize it until he started singing. Hearing this anywhere but from the show was the last thing I expected. It was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard and I cried, though throughout the actual versions by Colm Wilkinson, Alfie Boe, and Anthony Warlow here, I'd been completely unmoved. This song will always be the most beautiful piece of music ever written now.
I completely agree. This is an AMAZING voice and rendition of this song. Nothing can be more beautiful than a voice that creates music, instead of just noise.....as so many of today's so called singers! Brought me to tears! God Bless!
I've just got this song sent to me. (Thanks Pia.) I've not heard a voice like this since 'Jussi Bjorling' (Pearl Fishers) I'm not saying he's as good as Jussi, but how do you compare? you can't and shouldn't. I just want to say that this is wonderful and beautiful. Wow! what a voice. You people out there, feel it and wonder at it, you'll not hear better. Elliott for you my son. God please! "bring him home", please! I love you Elli, always will, I promise I will never give up on you Daddy.
it never fails to amaze me how many utter brilliant performances of this song are out there. You think you have heard it sung the best possible way and along comes another to completely change your mind. So many great performances, so many different versions....all tear inducing in performance...God I love the power of the voice...I am thankful I found this version tonight.
I have just got this track sent to me. (Thanks Pia.) I've not heard a voice like this since 'Jussi Bjorling' (look at Pearl Fishers) I'm not saying he's as good as Jussi, but how do you compare? you cant and shouldn't. I just want to say that this is wonderful and beautiful. Wow! what a voice. You people out there, feel it and wonder at it, you'll not hear better. Elliott for you my son. God please! "bring him home", please!. I love you Elli, always will. Daddy.
Hi dear Sato :) there is never a late answer, just an answer. I am so glad that you enjoyed this as much as I did. Once in a while you hear a voice that touches the soul. This man's voice does just that! I listen and listen and never get tired of hearing this song and his voice. It is music and it is voice. Greetings back to you :) Wade
Warlow is one of the best singers out there - no point comparing to Crawford and Ball - no comparison technically and from an overall quality perspective.... This isn't even a role he would sing and it is still incredible!
Saw him last night...He actually held back because they didnt want him to upstage everyone. And it was his broadway debut. Plus annie is a classic show too.
Yup! He's a baritone. A light lyric baritone, but a baritone none the less. There are many baritones that can reach high A's and Bb's, but I don't think many of them would present them to the public eye. Well, I wouldn't anyway.
Yeah I'm a baritone my standard range is E2 to Ab4 comfortably but I can hit an A with a little strain and an A# if I properly warm up (once hit a C5). But I wouldn't really sing an A or above to anyone
Also tell that to Hadley Fraser, I've heard him hit an F2 very comfortably, making him a baritone; but he's also hit a D5 on stage a few times. That man doesn't know what vocal range means
Oh yeah, the power and range and color of Warlow ‘s voice is the best ever I ve heard by a broadway singer doing Valjean, and I ve heard them all. He has a giant “Enjolras” kind of voice. But Colm Wilkinson is the ultimate Valjean to me.
WOW.. Anthony Warlow really has a fantastic voice and amazing expression and emotion. This is the best version of this I have heard better than Alfie Boe and JOJ... chills at 2:26 and that last note..beautiful
Yeah I see that you're right..I apologize for making a blind statement.. Anthony Warlow is a very talented singer, He can easily trump many of the popular Tenors with his deep range extending from a powerful baritone to a resonating tenor
It's always hard to compare and not fair. both anthony and colm are great artists and bring to their performances a unique energy and flavor based on their individual artistry.
My words exactly, although I do love listening to this, and Anthony is my favorite singer of all-time. But Colm's version means more to me and I like that one even more.
if you know anything about voice, Anthony is the winner in all catagories with a very close second to John Owen-Jones. They are magnificent in all aspects. Sorry that Warlow doesn' treat the American stage....such a shame and and a waste that we do not hear him him here. And the same to John-Owen Jones.....they all tend to stay abroad,. A distinct loss for the American public.
I want an Australian revival of Les Mis. My dream cast would be this: Valjean = Anthony Warlow Javert = reprised by Philip Quast Fantine = Marina Prior Eponine = Alinta Chidzey Cosette = Julie Goodwin Marius = Josh Pieterman Enjolras = David Hobson This is so beautiful. I would pay to see Warlow perform this live!
I'm a baritone and I've hit that high as well, although they're far beyond my comfort zone so they're usually sung in falseto...the notes aren't that high and are probably within his comfort zone...it's all about comfort zone...if he can hit it confortably and it sounds good, then it's in his range....it's his technique that tells you whether or not he's tenor...and after watching him sing Music Of The Night I'd def say he's Baritenor or dramatic baritone...
@trc751 He is classed as a 2nd Tenor. This means he has the range of a batitone plus the bottom end of the tenor range. How do I know, I teach music and although my vocal range is that of a baritone, i can also hit the top notes of Bring him home without going falsetto.
One of the best voices of his generation. This is flawless.
I can't believe his controlled falsetto ... followed by the power. Just stunning!
For one of the most challanging songs in the Theatre world... 10 out of 10!
Warlow is simply the best...
There is no one like him. He's perfection...I'm a lifetime 'Warlowhead'.
The best version I've ever heard. Such power and control... An idol to me.
Anthony Warlow without doubt is one of the great Musical Theatre singers of the world. His voice is just magnificent, I am happy to say I have most of his recoded CD's, they take pride of place on my mp3 player as well.
Best and most emotional version ever. You can sing anything, you bugger. I miss our theatre days together. Sincerely your wiggie
He must come home. I have been waiting for 1000 years. I love him.
Best version ever...
He could sing the phone book, always perfection! I've seen him live about 9 times!
I've got tears in my eyes. That is just startlingly beautiful...
Sorry that I am replying a year later! I just discovered this great singer and man a few days ago. My cousin lives in Australia and she is a singer. She has met him a couple of times and says he is a wonderful person, as well as a great singer!

beautiful version. Only recently been introduced to Anthony by an Australian friend & have fallen in love with his voice.
Today is the very first I have ever heard of Anthony Warlow. This guy is an absolutely amazing singer. Incredible voice. I feel I have missed out on something so wonderful for so long.
For a man who once said"I dont have a Valjean voice" in an interview he sure does a pretty good job of pretending that he has!
I saw the Les Mis movie yesterday. Jackman did a wonderful job. Warlow's falsetto is an instrument, that's for sure. He spoiled the world with his Jekyll and Hyde concept CD, and all others pale in comparison. I keep listening to this performance:without doubt the definitive version;the purity of his voice and the emotion:exquisite.Thank you Anthony
IMO the absolute best, by a long margin, studio recording of this song. Ever.
Anthony has sung this song better than any other who tried. its even better than the original.
This is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. And I mean it. Can't believe I have never known him before since I started being obsessed with musicals.
So much feelings and compassion. He brings you into what the song is about. Like he is really telling you the story. Amazing!
i cannot sing through this song without crying.
A truly Wonderful man and one of the best top singers of all time
I love this version.
Love this and he sings it so beautifully!!!
God bless you. Simply wonderful sound & song

What an incredible voice ❤❤❤❤
Perfect!!!!! He is always amazing whether it be serious or having fun. Thank you Anthony!
Simply the best version of the most moving song … no doubt!
For Veteran's Day, this stranger student at my school sang this song. Being the amazing announcements-listener that I am, I didn't realize it until he started singing. Gee Whiz! That was beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️
I love him and this song. Always have tears in my eyes when I hear it and get goose bumps
Wow. Incredible.
best phantom ever
I never thought I would say this ;This beats Colm Wilkinson(just)!!!A beautiful emotional performance
You are kidding aren't you? Perfectly controlled pianissimo falsetto! Wish I could do it....!!
I've just got this song sent to me. (Thanks Pia.) And remember he really is a baritone...
Miatpi Holy crap! His range isnt human...
And I think he said he doesn't have a Valjean voice

I'm singing this version at a concert in about a month. Mister Warlow is truly a genius.
Best singer in the world.
Wow just wow, perfection.
Amazing. Purely, amazing.
Wow this made me cry!!!! Beautiful!!!!
I met him once and he is as lovely as his voice!
I have just got this track sent to me. (Thanks Pia.) What an amazing performance!
What an outstanding Man, talented beyond belief, this sends shivers to anyone who hears him sing
My mother loved this, she would cry all the time it played. She passed away 2 years ago
Warlow is one of the best singers out there - no point comparing to Crawford and Ball - no comparison technically and from an overall quality perspective.... This isn't even a role he would sing and it is still incredible!
Amazing. I've never even heard of him. He's fantastic!!
Too right! He is awesome!
I love this song, still in 2020.
Saw him last night...He actually held back because they didnt want him to upstage everyone. And it was his broadway debut. Plus annie is a classic show too.
Voice is amazing... My friend and i are doing this song as a duet in our show choir group... Love this song
Yup! He's a baritone. A light lyric baritone, but a baritone none the less. There are many baritones that can reach high A's and Bb's, but I don't think many of them would present them to the public eye. Well, I wouldn't anyway.
Yeah, its not that hard to reach those notes for a baritone but for them to be brought so richly and beautifully, is rare and a gift.
Yeah I'm a baritone my standard range is E2 to Ab4 comfortably but I can hit an A with a little strain and an A# if I properly warm up (once hit a C5). But I wouldn't really sing an A or above to anyone

....wow he sings beautiful. He easily put Jackman to shame.
99.99% of people who sing this put Jackman to shame. Love him, but he was not right for this part.
'bout damn time he sang this...excellent=]
Stunning - the best at this song
Oh my goodness. Fantastic!
I
I've never heard of him but, boy is this guy good!
Paul Zenco He is widely regarded as one of the best Enjolras ever!
I love the last note!!!
Exquisite! ❤❤❤
FLAWLESS
This vid posted in 14 years ago, I'm glad it still here and let me found this gem 😭

WOW.. Anthony Warlow really has a fantastic voice and amazing expression and emotion. This is the best version of this I have heard better than Alfie Boe and JOJ... chills at 2:26 and that last note..beautiful

can someone please find me a better male vocalist in musical theatre than anthony warlow? coz i cant find one. the guy is unbelievable

Yes.
