@@CousinCosta Except for the last bit of harmonizing I think it comes off pretty good. The band does a heroic job of filling in for Billy's triple- or quadruple-tracked harmonies on the record. Everyone does more than "get a song out of it"! Cheers lady and gents!
one of the many reasons why cloning is necessary, we need three more Billy Joels so we can have a truly proper live version of Longest Time. or a time machine, either is much appreciated
This song was playing regularly on the radio exactly when my parents were getting a divorce. I was 3.5, so it was an unsettling period for me. My mom really loves Billy Joel and she dubbed this one “our song”. I’ve loved it ever since.
This is my favorite song of his.....I know most people favor the likes of “Piano Man” or “Always A Woman To Me”. I’ve loved this one since I was 4 years old....so almost 36 years 😊.
This is a song about celebration of life, expressed in the most beautiful blend of human voices singing in amazing harmony! Billy Joel is indeed a music star for the longest time!
I heard this song as a child in the mid 80's. I remember being captivated by the sound / harmony. It is the song that pushed me towards music. Highschool band, my own band, and later writing music note by note, measure by measure. It's on odd thing to some. But this song alone became my personal inspiration to explore music and become quite fascinated with sound (laughter, voices, impressions, etc.) So... Thanks for that. =]
Billy cared about and abandoned piano. How it could give someone else a start in music like him. I dearly hope he knows how much he is loved. Absolutely loved.
I have listened to the recording of this, my favorite Billy Joel song, a gzillion times. It's is great to see a video of him singing it live. Bravo to Mr. Joel and his chorus!
Billy is the greatest pianoman EVER. Best showman. Best lyrics and oh what a wonderful life... I learned to speak English thanks to his songs. So fun to sing. Thank you forever Billy Joel
So much more technique higher up in his register, using his mix voice. I like the grittiness in his early stuff, but as a singing teacher, I really feel for his voice when I watch it!
Doesn't do it often I think because he had knee and hip replacements, and this song invites a lot of moving around. Check out the 1984 vid of him doing this live in concert. Youth, hair, finger snaps, lots of movement! Getting old sucks the wang. But it beats the alternative right? Fortunately his voice.. and his love for what he does, has never failed him! th-cam.com/video/1nR0dkiHEW8/w-d-xo.html
Perhaps because of his singing style, but he hasn't missed a beat with age, or a note...amazing.
Amazing genetics!
Billy is one of the only performers that sounds better live than on record. a true genuine voice.
Nicholas Zacharek the only other one I can think of is Freddie Mercury
Nicholas Zacharek very true
He's also on of the few whose voice has not Deteriorated by much in his old age. He still sounds Great. Can't say the same for others.
Agree! But we would have to put Elvis, Elton and Freddie in that list hahaha
Wow he still has a young voice
He's had it for the longest time.
Yep
@@MrPiper99 🤦🏻♂️😂
This was one of the concerts that my late husband Adam and I attended. Adam passed away on March 3rd 2016 at the age of 50. I miss him everyday 😔😔
Glad you have that memory. I am so sorry for your loss. Huga
That improv starting @2:27 was sweet as sugar. Those who love and have this song memorized will know exactly what part in the song im talking about.
Executes the note perfectly as well
yep you got it buddy
Yes, he’s done it that way for years! I love hearing him do it and sing it that way myself every time.
Lucky guys - he almost never performs this one in concert any longer
sad, its a hidden gem among billy joel classics
its one of my favorites I love the original video that went with it.
guess you could say he hasn't played this song for the longest time

Billy and his band mates should do this song more often.
Crystal makes this song even better. A true legend in her profession.

We need exactly four more billy joels in fact that the original song is recordet in 5 voices of billy :)
That just would be lip syncing and would suck on concert
A Billy Joel Clone is just as good as a high budget impersonator show XD. Just go find an impersonator that does shows and there you go
This guy is a legend

何故だかこの素晴らしいBillyの曲を聴くと涙が止まらない………
彼の想いが伝わってきて余計に胸が痛くなる名曲だと思う。
Billy……これからもファンに素敵な歌声を届けて下さい。
I thought the guys in the original video clip were actors. Wow. It's all legit. Good upload.
I think they’re singers too, but in the original recording im pretty sure all of the parts were individually recorded by Billy Joel
They were. Billy did all the vocals on the recording himself.
With live shows you kinda HAVE to hire backup musicians so it won't sound boring.

This guy imo is the best musician and artist in the history of pop music
Mike Delguidice is RIDICULOUS! How much talent can one guy have? Loved him since I was one of his first fans on MySpace a hundred years ago.
+Angie Barr nobody cares
You mean about you? Yes. I know. :-)
I care
I disagree…he thinks he’s Billy reincarnated. But his version of Piano Man doesn’t sound even close.
"everything else was taken"... love it. (on the record, EVERY voice is Billy...)
An Innocent Man was a brilliant album - he doesn’t play a lot of the songs often anymore :(
This is a true gem
You are THE BEST ONE !!!! HUGS
This song with Billy’s voice just goes straight to the heart. What a gift. ❤️
Billy Joel should be a national treasure. His music is nothing short than amazing.
This guy knows his music, keys, theory and also plays by ear. An amazing talent !
FUCK, this is great! WOW!
Literally goosebumps when I hear this
My favorite song by him!
How long did it take for them to perfect this the first time around? Still one of the best harmony songs. WOW!
rtogurl it took the longest time
Billy did all the harmonies himself on the studio version
master piano man
No pitch-correct. Just pure singing!
"Who starts this off"
*talking about his own song.
This and Beat it by MJ were the first 2 music videos i ever saw
He still nailed it perfectly
Professionals. All I have to say :D
Agree!
the king remains a king - and so do his singers
This is a song about celebration of life, expressed in the most beautiful blend of human voices singing in amazing harmony!
Billy Joel is indeed a music star for the longest time!
It’s about finding new love. When he was jaded or excepted it won’t happen again.
This is just GREAT! I love this Song so much and this Version is awesome!
When my daughter was young, the only part she knew was the chorus... over and over and over and over.
Beautiful! Well done sir! You've still got it! :-D
What happened to his hair?
Hugo Sanchez, married too many times
Wow, he sounds amazing!

Okay guys, I've been waiting twenty years for this. Just like we practiced, no mistakes. Ready? One, two, oh one two three four!

Love you, sissy boo. ❤
He's reached the age in the music video.
Amazing thank you Billy Joel!
So glad I got to see him do this one live up in Winnipeg Manitoba back in the '90s!
So much more technique higher up in his register, using his mix voice. I like the grittiness in his early stuff, but as a singing teacher, I really feel for his voice when I watch it!
My favorite love song ever! 💕
AWESOME!!!!
I missed this in home area by months

He may have let himself go, but he hasen’t let go his singing voice.
He looks like my dad so much
