My absolute fav silverados are 2000-2007 classics, my dad has had both gens and his 2001 sounded amazing when he got on it, love those 4 speeds, these vortecs are unkillable, his current truck is a 2007 Yukon slt and it’s got the 4 speed and 5.3 Vortec v8 in it, sounds good

Miss my dad's truck. 2001 GMC 2500HD 6.0 V-8. If I'm right the 6.0 and 5.3 were physically the same but displacement-wise they weren't. It had 298,516 miles and only needed O2 sensors and a new set of coilpacks. Now I'm stuck with a damn Ford lol.
@@MsAlex2508 She just turned 493K on the odometer... I think there is easily over 510k. I ran a 3:08 gear for 3 years without recalibrating the speedometer. The gauge would show 60mph but gps read 66mph. It got worse the faster you went. The truck is just insane. I got a rare one I think.
Wow 400k and little to no loss of performance? Of course this was back in the early stages of the 5.3l v8 when they used to make a simple v8 with minimal electronics and very reliable. Along with many other engines of the early 2000s. Early 5.7l hemi before the mds/vvt bs, also gms 4.8l and most notably, the Toyota 4.7 v8s are some of the most robust, trouble free v8 engines of all time.

I’m just manually shifting it. The engine gets beat on constantly. I will tell you that the ECU will learn how you drive. The harder you run it the ECU will advance the timing and fuel curve. If I drive like a grandma for 100 miles or so the engine looses its power that it had. Just run it hard a few times and it starts making power again. Sounds crazy but it works for this truck.

I had a 6.0, Vortec max. I sold it with 300k on it, I put 170k miles on it. Awesome truck and when I sold it still like new. Southern truck so no rust

Shifting this thing with the column did not do it justice, the engine was revved out of it's power band.
I tried 0-60 both ways and it’s .9 seconds faster shifting at 6000 than letting it shift at 5600
Are you sure this doesn't have the rev limiter taken off of it
I bought it in 2003 with 33K miles. The limiter has always been 6000rpms
These trucks shift all the way in full throttle
Without manually shifting, the shift points are 5600rpm out of first and 5100rpm out of second
