Andrew: "I got nothing when I stepped on the gas." 32:15 If I were the time ticket booth man, I would have said, "that's because you don't have a gas pedal." He missed his opportunity for comedy.
make sure you have obstacle aware acceleration disabled..maybe thats why the car stumbled. My performance mode 3 has done that a couple times when I floored it.
Not really any car making over 1,000 to the tirea will. I just sold a street driven ls 6.0 turbo camaro ran consiatent 8.40 8.50 at 170mph legit street car on pump gas at 3,700lbs on a 10 in et street tire
0.0003 second difference... At 119 MPH, that is less than 1 inch at the finish line! Actually, its' 0.6283 inches! Just under 16 millimeters. If he puts a go pro on the front bumper, he wins!
That was a bunch of great runs! I really liked the Mystery EV race. It seemed so hard to keep the tiny race car going in a straight line. The chapter separation is really handy for revisiting specific runs later. Thanks for doing the extra work to add that feature. The 911TT shows how big of a difference track prep is for traction and altering race results. So close on those Plaid face-off times! Those numbers are almost unreal. You guys are learning a lot about the Plaid performance, different configurations, and track setup with these dueling-Plaid contests.
i seen how close you guys were and said to myself that had to be in the ten thousandths, then a second later tom confirmed and i was like DAMN! that's the first time i seen a race like that, nice one!
New subscriber here and the 100th like lol but in all seriousness I absolutely love your Channel you do a great job editing and a magnificent job destroying those cars at the track. Keep up the good work keep doing what your doing we all absolutely love it!!! 👍👍👍👏
Andrew, your videos keep getting better and better...Watched this one twice already. Really great analysis as to launch mode, comfort setting, etc. Real good info for anyone running a Plaid on the track. Are you going to Showtime tonight and back to Speedworld for Thursday night? Will be watching Solarshiftz Showtime coverage tonight. I you're not going, hopefully Nick and the White Plaid will be running. Also an added 10 minutes from your last video was well worthwhile. BTW, those mosquitoes have been hired by your competition to knock you off your game..LOLOL!
Thanks Roy! I’m almost to Showtime now, just pre-race charging. Gonna get there early to give Tom that ride along! Tomorrow will be Orlando with Lue at SolarShiftz! Hope you enjoy his broadcast with your favorite beverage!
Wow, was thinking the 21" would take you by a half a car length. So glad the 19" preformed quite well, knowing they are a little softer ride with a better range. My 2019 Tesla S Performance sits on 19".
RC cars are really hard to keep going straight even under ideal conditions. He really should have cranked down the ratio on his steering for a drag race. You haven't mentioned Joe's experience, but he's pretty consistent and seems to be a good competitor for you. But your experience stands out with your consistency and ability to make adjustments for different techniques. Great viewing as always!
Theory: the plaid gets an ever so slightly faster ET at just below 100% SoC (~90 - 93%) due to the slightly lower (sagged) pack voltage resulting in a slightly higher inverter/motor efficiency. Almost all electronic components/circuits have a varying efficiency curve at different input voltages. Aspecially Switch-mode power supplies (like the one in your phone charger) It could also just be that the motors crank out slightly higher torque at slightly lower (sagged) pack voltages, meaning it dosnt have anything to do with the efficiency. Hard to say as we dont yet know the limiting factor.
Three reasons: Summer radials don’t respond well to a burnout, and some get greasy with that heat. The “slip start” mode that would have to be used (the only way to defeat traction control that prevents any spin) can’t even be used at the same time as Drag Strip Mode (which should tell us something). And finally, I used to do it back in 2019 in my Model S Raven (running mid 10s), and had a bad experience. When a track is properly prepped, no burnout is needed at all, not even on the stock 19” Pirellis (which are less wide the 21” Michelin PS4S). If anyone doubts this, see my 5.99 run from September…
Sure thing, and to the point about Summer Radials, it's a running joke with Hellcats that come to the dragstrip on the stock tires, and spin on their first pass, so then they do a LOOOONGER burnout on the next pass. Then they spin worse. (And sometimes spin halfway down the track removing the prep and destroying the traction for all cars that follow them.) Their tires get slicker and greasier then more they try to 'warm them up'. Of course, drag radials are designed for this and don't have this problem.
That error you had where the Car just crawled out of the hole, my plaid has done that 5 times to me now. 3 times in drag mode with out launch control and 2 times in drag mode using launch control. One of the passes it ran a mid 10 because of it. I have not been able to figure out why it does it but it is for sure a problem.
Already got a 5.99 without that: th-cam.com/video/Q1ipJXhM480/w-d-xo.html Don’t think folding would help, as it doesn’t change the surface area very much. It changes it from aerodynamic to a blunt rectangle. Look at the forward profile when folded, it’s not like it disappears into the car. Besides, mirrors offer visibility and visibility increases safety. (So that’s not one I’m interested in trying.)
.0003 margin!!!! H@ly Sh¡t! As with the other videos I enjoy the side by side views down the track with the included time slips. Absolutely love the chatter before/after a race, the comradery with the other enthusiasts is a nice break. Starting to get satisfaction with the Ford vs. Chevy mentality jargon fading away. Times R ah chagin. Hats off to Nick (with dads Chevelle) Joe & his son Barnoi (still love the style of Joes C8 vette) Patrick a few vids back with that NOS C3 Vette (seems like a die hard and class act) Luis and that Grand national, Freddy in his Audi laughing down the strip and what seems to be an endless amount of Hellcats. Not to mention all the track employees and Lue from the Solarshiftz channel plus plenty others. Seems like a great group of people. Can’t imagine the amount of time put into the videos with editing various camera angles, slow motions, narration etc. Appreciate the amount of updated content, keep up the great work Andrew!
Thanks Lee! Yep, editing takes far longer than the race nights themselves. The other drivers (like from racing last night) seem eager to see the results, and that motivates me to get them posted. Enthusiastic viewers have proven to be quite a bonus this year! It was never expected when I started the channel two years ago with some simple Dashcam footage for friends. But feedback like yours has helped to shape the channel into what it has become… ⚡️🚙💨
He couldnt drive it... Not saying I would be any better... Just saying it needed a better driver... Would have still lost. Thing needs a high stall and an automatic to wake it up in drag racing.
The greater part of an EV is consistent power the worst part of an ICEv is its inconsistencies with climate and output. That chevelle had all the cubes but did it have adequate output transfer, if so the driver couldn't find it at all.. you would almost have to rematch every ICE car 3 times to find out its true run and thats a maybe. This is the bright future with electric is its consistent operation being that battery % , tires and weight are 3 things to ponder prep on.. anyone will be able to drive one down to get a fast e.t.. so for ICE cars the skill levels then will be hole shots race wins.
FYI, white Plaid at OSW COVERED BY solarshiftz just went a1.76 60' time at 9.70 and 151.....thought Andrew would be interested as he will be at OSW tomorrow!
I apologize if you've answered this on one of your other video's, but are your 21" wheels the Tesla Arachnid ones? Curious the material and if you're concerned with bent rims. I had lots of troubles with 20" TSW Clypse cast aluminum rims on a previous car. Anxiously awaiting my new Model S Long range, and researching wheel options now, and honestly want a different look outside the Tesla OEM rims, including the 21s.
I sold my second Plaid that had the factory 21” wheels. But I weighed the wheels before I sold it and covered all the wheels in detail here: th-cam.com/video/eA9dufNDSl8/w-d-xo.html
I think you guys might want to do what competitive swimmers do and get rid of any extra body hair to help cut weight and use lighter air in the tires too.😳🙄🤔👍👍🇨🇦
I've marked the Nittos to see if they move on the rim. They haven't yet, and will test more next week. I'm not expecting the stock rubber to shift, especially over 40PSI. Dropping pressure makes it more likely...
I would say the tires were hotter from driving there then u waited the next run for the temp of the car to warm up an the tires cooled down so that's y the run time was the same
Honestly you should try 20 psi in the tires for more squat and footpatch on the ground. I don't know anyone that leaves 43 psi in there street tires at the strip lol. Even 30psi would make the tires grab more. The screeching the tires slip at the launch is leaving some time on the table for sure.
Heavier cars need more PSI. Even Mickey Thompson themselves told me to run more PSI when I put their Drag Radials on my 2019 Model S… I wouldn’t suggest anyone going below a PSI in the 30’s on summer tires on a Plaid…
@@TeslaPlaidChannel dropping all 4 to maybe 35 would be interesting see if your 60ft improves. Just bring a compressor to top up if it is worse. I would put a tire crayon mark on the rim and tire and see if the tire ever slips on the rim from the instant torque.
How insane is it that a highly modified drag car, and all these other highly modified race cars, get beat by an Unmodified family car designed to go to work and get groceries. It's a new world for sure. And the Tesla can charge to full while you sleep. No gas, no engine oil, no radiator fluid, no transmission fluid - and 85% fewer moving parts.
I like the teaser vids just trying to keep a fender ahead of the competition instead of just blasting everyone with speed. Everyone knows it takes a 2.5 million dollar rivian to best the Tesla. Or a vehicle with 1500hp+ on gas engine.
It’s a very blunt non-aerodynamic side that faces forward when folded. Looks like almost the same surface area? (The folding feature is clearly not for aerodynamics.) Besides, definitely wouldn’t make the run safer (to not see where the competition is)
I think you need to drive your car underwater...Chet is somehow laying down 5.8 1/8th miles and that car was driven under water :), that must be the secret..
Funny though that Chet, with all the crap he's done to a really nice car to make it now a strictly race car, he still can't get it into the 8's . I believe I saw a video of his 150 lb. Driver doing a 9.04, but a 9.09 for sure!(if that is so the 9.08 the young lady ran in Texas is still the best!) For doing all that work (driving it underwater to disable everything, stripping even 1 lb. pieces of plastic out of it, etc.), it seems to me that THE COMPUTER has some kind of speed to elapsed time limiter to not let anyone run less than a 9 second quarter. ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THIS ANOMALY?
🤔 Then why did it take 9 tries for the 21” to beat the 19”, even when he was using Launch Control and I wasn’t? And why is the 21”s average ET (excluding RT) slower on both nights?
2014-2016 Turbo is same car as 2014-2016 Turbo S. Only difference is the S badge, and the Turbo S comes with carbon ceramic brakes as standard (option for turbo), center lock wheels standard (option for turbo) and a different tune from factory. Flash a different tune and you effectively turn the turbo into a turbo S
Not quite, but that’s what I get for giving the other car a free advantage! (The “move”, or allowing one car to stage Launch Control while the other doesn’t.) But for “heads-up” races (no advantage given to either driver) your prediction holds true on this night ⚡️🚙💨
"last time was one thousands of a second" == 0.001 RIGHT "this time is third thousand of a second" != 0.0003 NOT RIGHT Dude, have you ever heard of three of ten thousand of a second ? ;) Quite big difference "This time is a three of ten thousands of a second" == 0.0003 After all it was quite fun! ;) Keep up with the nice clips!
Good thing the video says "Three Ten Thousandths of a second" so many times: 25:35 and 26:22 and 29:55 and 30:18 and ... Not sure what video you were watching?
Need a different track where u can go all out. To be honest, the content is getting a bit boring running 1/8 mile all the time. Never anything new and exciting. Sorry but always good to listen to criticism especially if you want to grow your channel which has great potential to be massive if you switch it up more 👍🏻
@@TeslaPlaidChannel don’t get me wrong, I love watching your channel. Just would like to see more of a mix showing 1/4 mile runs where you don’t have to keep it 10 or above. Ultimately I want you to remain safe and enjoy what you’re doing 👍🏻

@@Model3Dragracingchannel i was referring to the plaid but you're still destroying ppl with ur tesla

Just when you think the numbers can't get any closer, with a 3/10,000ths difference in ET, you have a 2/10,000ths difference in reaction time
I really enjoyed the Plaid vs Plaid races. All things being equal, it truly comes down to the RT. The future of drag racing.

I like the teaser vids just trying to keep a fender ahead of the competition instead of just blasting everyone with speed. Everyone knows it takes a 2.5 million dollar rivian to best the Tesla. Or a vehicle with 1500hp+ on gas engine.
Wouldn't it be better to fold in the mirrors?
It’s a very blunt non-aerodynamic side that faces forward when folded. Looks like almost the same surface area? (The folding feature is clearly not for aerodynamics.)
Besides, definitely wouldn’t make the run safer (to not see where the competition is)
I think you need to drive your car underwater...Chet is somehow laying down 5.8 1/8th miles and that car was driven under water :), that must be the secret..
He’s Gutted. My tracks require that I add a cage if I make any modifications, including stripping weight out…
Funny though that Chet, with all the crap he's done to a really nice car to make it now a strictly race car, he still can't get it into the 8's .
Why don’t you hit record on the built in cameras? That car has built in cameras.
I love your videos BTW.
It seems that viewers on TH-cam have a distinct preference for Audio (SOUND) with their videos 🤔
@@TeslaPlaidChannel that does make sense, however, you should be able to repurpose audio from one of the other cameras. Or even voiceover commentary?
So seems like there's basically no difference straight line performance wise between the 19's and 21's?
🤔 Then why did it take 9 tries for the 21” to beat the 19”, even when he was using Launch Control and I wasn’t?
And why is the 21”s average ET (excluding RT) slower on both nights?
@@TeslaPlaidChannel Ah my bad I'm thinking more real world difference. On track when talking tenths and hundredths who knows, could be a weight thing.
@@MoonbeamArcade They nullified the weight difference with the coolers in Andrew's trunk.
0.0003 is 300 microseconds!
Andrew: Tell us the truth.....did you red light on purpose?
Well… 🤔
Not actually, but I was taking it right to the edge since he was in Launch Control and I was not…
Put 19s on front, 21s on back, tell car computer that you are running 21s
It is the best when you race the other Plaid. The rest of the races are to one sided.
WHO Buys a Non "S" Turbo? 🤦♂️
BTW I'd take a Porsche Turbo any day over a Plaid
Better Valet spots and You'll never pick up Hot Women in a Tesla
@@UncleFjester Andrew is married... i would imagine(and hope) that picking up hot chicks is the least of his concerns.
Takes a Tesla to take a Tesla.
Before I even watch the video im predicting the Tesla went 14-0.
Not quite, but that’s what I get for giving the other car a free advantage! (The “move”, or allowing one car to stage Launch Control while the other doesn’t.)
But for “heads-up” races (no advantage given to either driver) your prediction holds true on this night ⚡️🚙💨
teslais the new king of the streets
"last time was one thousands of a second" == 0.001 RIGHT
"this time is third thousand of a second" != 0.0003 NOT RIGHT
Dude, have you ever heard of three of ten thousand of a second ? ;) Quite big difference
"This time is a three of ten thousands of a second" == 0.0003
After all it was quite fun! ;) Keep up with the nice clips!
Good thing the video says "Three Ten Thousandths of a second" so many times: 25:35 and 26:22 and 29:55 and 30:18 and ...
Not sure what video you were watching?
Different channel :D People always tend to not care about others' opinion... "good" for you!!!
Yeah great skills driving heavy electric in straight line. Do this more often LOL 😁
Not sure if that's sarcasm Jule? If so, then video please? (Showing your own 0.00 Reaction Times, like the ones in each of my past two videos.)
Love this channel, but I honestly skip over the Tesla vs Tesla races. Those are quite boring 😅
I actually prefer a loud fire breathing beast in the next lane also ⚡️🚙💨
@@TeslaPlaidChannel I have yet to see a 'loud fire breathing beast' even be able to keep up with the Plaid unless you're feathering the throttle 😂

Speed is the enemy of accuracy?
Just press the pedal and go. That's it? Lol drag racing it getting so easy even a chimp could do it
Yep, that Porsche 911 is easy to drive for sure!
Need a different track where u can go all out. To be honest, the content is getting a bit boring running 1/8 mile all the time. Never anything new and exciting. Sorry but always good to listen to criticism especially if you want to grow your channel which has great potential to be massive if you switch it up more 👍🏻
Maybe if I go 161MPH six runs in a row?
(Just posted) ⚡️🚙💨
@@TeslaPlaidChannel don’t get me wrong, I love watching your channel. Just would like to see more of a mix showing 1/4 mile runs where you don’t have to keep it 10 or above. Ultimately I want you to remain safe and enjoy what you’re doing 👍🏻
@@How-fast 👍 yep, lots of 9 second runs posted recently, plus another dozen or so in the 8s! (1/4mi Roll Racing over 150MPH)
Racing remote control cars really! Time to find another plaid Channel👎👎
Gotta mix it up! I’m not going to turn down any challenge… ⚡️🚙💨
