  • The Avy is in for a major visual upgrade to the interior with a Cadillac Escalade instrument gauge cluster swap! The bland factory cluster will be pulled for the MUCH nicer Cadillac Escalade variant. Not only does it look nicer, it also functions nicer with an actual transmission temperature gauge, which was my main reason for wanting to do this easy swap. Not every cluster will work though, and it's all due to the electrical changes than happened in 2003.
    Here are the simple facts on what you need to know before doing this swap on your GMT800.
    Huge shout out to Randy at Tachtronics for doing the rebuild on my Escalade Cluster. I had it back in my hands 5 days after shipping it across the US and it was in perfect condition and even has a warranty on the work. You can get more info on his work here:

    Great info, thank you. Question: Similar to yours, I have a 2001 Yukon XL. When I find a Denali or Escalade cluster, do I have to do any wiring for the transmission gauge?
    thanks
    Tom

      Nope. Biggest thing for you is to stay within your electrics years (99-02).

    I have ext. The trans Guage is great for trailering. I had to just resolder the prndl resistors aka quick rebuild.

      It really is. Having the 4L60 and driving up mountain roads with a bunch of camping gear, I definitely prefer knowing where my transmission temps are sitting!

    Can you provide information on the company you referred to that did the rebuild? I’m not able to find in a search.

      The guy that did mine is Randy with Tachtronics. He’s in California. If you open the description section, the link for his website is at the very bottom.

    What would I need to do a 2000 chevy silverado 1500. I've been looking at doing this for awhile, just can't find any good specs on exactly what I need.

      You need a 99-02 cluster. If you want it rebuilt, I highly recommend Randy at TachTronics in California.

    Will that gauge cluster work in a 01 tahoe

    • @takeroadslesstraveled6505
      @takeroadslesstraveled6505  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No it will not. There were two cluster styles for GMT800’s. 1999-2002 used a cluster that that had a top connection, and then 2003-2006 used a cluster that had a rear connection. You will need a cluster from a 1999-2002 GMT800 for your 01 Tahoe. The only Escalade cluster that will work for you is a 2002.

    Can I put one on a 2000 gmc single cab

    • @takeroadslesstraveled6505
      @takeroadslesstraveled6505  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, just make sure the cluster you get is from the 99-02 year range. The 03-06 range has a different pin layout than your 2000.

      I paid $40 at the junkyard. I don't have any Escalade clusters on hand, but I do have a Denali cluster that includes the temp gauge on hand.
