    Just installed the Ice Blue kit in my 03 Suburban cluster, and it looks awesome! Arrived in less than a week with a great diagram and clear instructions. Only had two lamps still working, so a huge improvement! Take your time and be gentle, a soldering iron with a fine tip at about 400F worked well. The kit is absolutely worth every penny! Thank you sir!!!

      You guy better hold on to those trucks because they're really sought after & once you sell them that's a wrap! Those trucks will cost you a grip for another & that's with high mileage. I love those trucks and I couldn't find one with low miles. Most had been in a wreck or had multiple owners & if it was decent it was outta my budget so I found a nice 2005 Trailblazer LS that a little old man had & it was garage kept & only had 124,000 miles on it🥰

    I know this is an old video, but hoping to get some insight. I've completed some led retrofitting on the cluster and some other components. I am getting a dimmer control circuit 1 and 2 DCT errors now B2610 and B2615 although the leds seem to dim fine for the most part. The dash doesn't dim all the way to off with the dimmer potentiometer, but does dim. Is this something you may have dealt with in the past that you may help point me in the right direction? 2006 Tahoe. Does the BCM possibly see the lower current draw as a bunch of open bulbs or something?

    • @Tachtronics
      @Tachtronics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on what model stepper you have. Certain models are not bad and some models you will almost certainly pull a shaft. Replacing steppers is not difficult per say but if you’re not careful and you pull a pad, you can make a small problem a big one rather quickly.

    • @Tachtronics
      @Tachtronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They don’t sell that screen separately new so the only solutions are either change out the whole cluster or remove the screen from another one and install it on yours.
      If you install a cluster from a truck that did not have radio control buttons, the buttons will no longer work.

    But my question is how can I have the glow of the lettering be blue and the needles glow red or Visa versa ?

    • @Tachtronics
      @Tachtronics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certain colors “mix” better than others. From my experience, if you put blue LEDs behind red needles, the needles will still illuminate well but putting red LEDs behind blue needles doesn’t work (the needles hardly illuminate). You could add extra LEDs to illuminate each needle independently but going this route will require a lot more effort (I don’t offer this service because I don’t find it be worth the time).

    How do you make sure the needles are properly set if you're swapping the cluster face to a different style?

    • @Tachtronics
      @Tachtronics  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We use a special tools to simulate and calibrate the needles but in the general DIY scenario, there isn’t necessarily a perfect solution. I’d suggest marking the needle positions on the original face and then eyeballing it as close to those markings as you can on the new face. I’ve never found the original calibration to be particularly accurate to begin with so I don’t think you’ll make it much worse.
      If you have access to a scan tool with live data, you can go off of the live data readings to adjust your calibration as needed.

So now I am replacing all the incandescent bulbs with LED's. All the gauge illumination bulbs have a common ground, and the two turn signal bulbs have a common ground, so I was able to identify and solder the LED's correctly for polarity. A total of 10 bulbs have been replaced with LED's. I'm using blue 12vdc dome shaped LED's to replace the clear incandescent bulbs. Not sure how that will look yet. One last bulb, the cruise control, I have not been able to identify the ground side, so I may have to connect the cluster board to determine polarity.

      There are several ways to do it, one is the way that I did it in the video which isn’t necessarily the best way. 2, try this link: th-cam.com/video/-SdsqaO99lA/w-d-xo.html 3. I’ve been meaning to do video on another method but haven’t had time. unclip all of the top clips of the lens (leaving only the 2 bottom clips in place), now pull up on the top of the lens to cause some separation between the cluster and the lens, then apply pressure between the 2 bottom corners of the lens and the white housing of the cluster (you’re forcing the lens and white housing to separate). If you do this while the lens is at the correct angle, the lens tabs will slide passed the “bumps” on the white housing. I hope that makes sense.
