    Hey man thanks so much for putting this info up! , ive got a 1981 Datsun sunny b310 wagon, i always wanted to put a 32/36 weber on it but had no idea of the jetting so after watching your vids i bought a second hand weber cleaned and rebuilt it i made a 2 piece adaptor plate and have installed the weber on the car running a A15 motor the weber came with main =130 secondary=130 Airs main 175 secondary 125,idle jets are 55 and 60 and emulsion tubes are f66 with 3.5 and 4.5 venturi/choke i forget what there called lol i figure its close as a base tune it should run the car ok until i can order parts not sure when this will be as im a kiwi and NZ has just gone into another lockdown!. Im having a major issue which i cant seem to diagnose i have checked for vacuum leaks had the carby on and of 3 times now changing to different thicknesses of gaskets even trying RTV and i keep having the same result. The car will start i have to idle real high to keep it going, i get it warm still wont idle so i turn the mixture screw out until it does but it has to be about 6 turns out but the lowest i can get the idle is 1100rpm and this is with the idle screw not even engaged with the arm! Ive looked through the barrel with a torch shining up it has minimal gap much less than the old carb which was set at 800rpm. The car runs very rich and every time ive changed the gasket its exactly the same result! I have checked float height with no problems there the only other thing i havent done is disable the power valve but it has a new plunger so shouldnt have a leak there.
    Is there any advice you can give me to help get my car running on this carb thanks for any help :)

      Hi, what size is the idle jet, it sounds like it is blocked or very small

      @@carburettorrebuildservice8964 its a 50 or ive tried swapping them around with the second barrel which has a 60 makes a little difference to where i have to have the mixture screw but does not effect what rpm it idles at, like i said the part i find weird is i cant keep turning the idle speed screw until the engine dies it will only go down to 1100rpm

      Please ensure both butterflies close properly, and ensure you are not leaking air.

    • @chrisjack4310
      @chrisjack4310 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@carburettorrebuildservice8964 have checked butterflys are fully closing have even gone as far as unscrew them relign etc and still can only see the tiniest bit of light come through which ive checked the standard hitachi and theres more light coming through those butterflys and it was set to about 800rpm, ive disabled the power valve the car seems to run nice otherwise like when you rev it.im about 4 turns out on the mixture so smells abit rich, have lowered the float more just incase, tomorow i may put the standard one back on and make sure it still idles below a 1000rpm to eliminate the possibility of a manifold leak etc , im just abit stumped i really cant figure this out ive even gone as far as to loosen the carb bolts to see if any vacuum leaks apper and the gaskets and rtv are gluing the carb down i could get it to leak if i angled the carb with the bolts very loose so i dont think my adaptor plate is leaking ive sprayed degreser all around the carb and manifold and cant find any issue.
      Thanks heaps for your help, could it be possible that the throttle shafts are leaking air? They dont feel loose up and down but you can move them slightly in and out

      The second barrel’s idle jet should not have any effect on the idling, the idle is only done by the first barrel.

    Hi just looking for some advice. I have just fitted a 32/36 webber to a 1600 twin port beetle. I made my own non restrictive manifold , from head to head. I appears to be too rich on the first stage and too lean on the second. The first stage is terribly agressive compared to to solex. Idle mixture out 3 to 4 turns , to run smooth , but ten causing a popping back fire, upon acelleration. Second stage. works initiallly but flat spots out on the road, will run with a back off and second application. Looking for suggestions for jets etc.

    • @carburettorrebuildservice8964
      @carburettorrebuildservice8964  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      if you have to turn the mixture screw out that much it indicated that your idle jet is to small, try one size up and see what it does.I dont have a jet chart for your carb on a beatke but this is for a 36 DCD weber on your engine - VW 1600 BEETLE venturies 23/24 main jets 110/120 Idle 45 air correction 190/180 - I would try 130 mains on first and second choke and i would use a 50 idle.

    That little A14 revs very willingly . Brings back fond memories from when i was preparing 2 of them for racing back in the early 90s . I used to own Renault 8s and 10s with the very popular Alconi engines . The dcd 7s were most probably the most tuneable carbs back then and all my Rs had one on . The adverts used to say "Power and economy king " Nowadays i am tinkering with the 38 dgas carbs and your videos on them is just awesome and informative . Thank you for sharing it . I live in SA and i would like to know how i can contact you other than via public comment .

    Thank you so much for your video. I am a little curious as to why you sealed up the power valve. You mention that a 1400 doesn't need it and I would like to understand why. Is it the size of the engine? Or something else? Would enjoy hearing your thoughts. Thank you in advance!

    • @carburettorrebuildservice8964
      @carburettorrebuildservice8964  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yip, the size of the engine. Must of the Weber mods on 1400's are on standard engines and with the power valve still active it could over fuel. thanks for watching the video's.

So I've tried 32/36 (main 150 fuel, 150 air, secondary 160 fuel, 160 air, idle jets 50 primary, 55 secondary), the car runs and sounds normal on the first stage, but I don't feel any more power with the second stage, only the sound changes to "deeper burble" and I hear clicking from the engine when full throttle in lower RPM.. Is it OK or? Thank you and best regards!

    Hi :) Thanks for your great walk thru!
    can you tell me why the Weber 32/36 DGV has a Vacuum Drop on the Ported Plug when Quick accelerate (from Stop to Go / Idle to Kick down).. the Distributors Vacuum Advance collapses right then when Vaccum Adavnce Timing is needed.. kind of same like connecting it to the Intake Manifold Vaccum (reacting in the wrong Way Vacuum Drop instead of UP)
    Thanks for your input!

    • @carburettorrebuildservice8964
      @carburettorrebuildservice8964  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The vacuum advances pipe should be connected above the butterfly on the first choke. if it is connected in the correct location then it should work correctly and the workings of the second choke should not affect it.

    1987 Mitsubishi Montero SWB 2.6 with Weber 32/36 DAF - My carb is now fully open at stop. It failed on a restart from driving all day and now fails to adjust idle down. I'm revving at 4000 rpm now when in Park. The top flaps are open and don't close up. The car has been driven all week after not being a daily driver but performed well. Checked all throttle cabling, but the flaps don't close. Is this a broken Electric Choke? or another diaphragm? Thanks in advance.

    Hi! Just came across your videos. Very interesting and helpful. I've just installed a 32/36 on my mk2 transit, 2.0ltr pinto. She runs great, pulls well with very little flat spots. It ticks over fine too, but when I drive through the gears and come to a set of traffic lights or junction, the carb refuses to find idle and the engine cuts out. Any suggestions?

    • @carburettorrebuildservice8964
      @carburettorrebuildservice8964  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps try a smaller idle jet, also ensure your float level is correct and the needle and seat seals properly.

    Hi my 32/36 struggles in second stage splattering loudly. Emulsion tubes seem to be stuck and cannot come free. Carb is fitted to a 2.0 chev Rekord. Primary and secondary idle are 45. Primary air corrector 160 and secondary 120. Main is 116 and secondary main is 115. Struggling to set up. I guess if I can free the emulsion tubes the gunk stopping it coming free can be cleaned. hi, turn the air mixture screw in all the way and then two and a half turns out. turn the speed screw until you see the butterfly move, it this point it should start. you can then turn the air mixture screw in half a turn at a time until it runs smoot and no smell of unburnt fuel at the exhaust.
