  • Telescoping fishing rods have drastically improved over the years so much that i wonder if the classic fishing pole will some day go extinct. This High Altitude Brands Lightweight Portable Telescopic Fishing Pole can lift 10 lbs and drag my 140 lb friend on a bike so theoretically you could land a 140 Lb fish on this Telescoping fishing pole Verse the classic fishing pole that ways two to 3 times as much.

    technically your just overcoming the inertia and friction to pull chris not pulling 140 lb im guessing it takes less than 8 lb to move him on that bike , but ive always loved telescoping rods , im currently a fisheries bailiff on the best salmon river in Wales :-)

    • @FowlersMakeryandMischief
      @FowlersMakeryandMischief  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ya that sounds about right it felt easyer to pull chris then lift that 10 lbs so technically if a 140 lb fish were nutrily boint and didnt fight I could real it in ?

      @Eric Ferguson perhaps with a saltwater trolling reel some 8 pound test and alot of luck and teamwork and well a stronger leader that gives more wiggle room in that last bit or as they typically come they are great for lakes and ponds pulling up sunfish and catfish just don't like the idea of catching a carp on one as they might burn out the tiny reel. yes that is probably the tuffest telescopic rod I've seen also on the last bit i tend to colapse the pole and manually handle the line to take the pole totaly out of that part of the equation a good stick or gloves is recommended. That one probably an over built 8 pound rod meant to work all day long on 8 pound test verry good for white bass and blue gills

      Agreed as a fisher man myself a rod that’s more sturdy (normal rod) is better but for convenience a telescopic rod is the way to go

    Zach, I've had many telescoping poles. I love them for compact fishing/hiking in hard to reach places. I've given every single one of them to my ex'es and their kids teaching them how to fish. I know that sounds bad, but they were great learners...the kids, sadly, not the moms. I hope I made a difference. Always have a collapsible rod with you. It takes little space, but can be an amazing tool when needed. PS Zach, I love your comedic approach to teaching. Keep it up.

    Nice one zach spot on with the cheap reels that come in the combos definitely worth upgrading on the typical 20 or 30 $ combos . honestly its about technique when it comes to telescopic. Its not an ugly stick I got a feeling you can just about do as much with the small rig as with a full solid rig. granted the way you will do it will likely be different depending on what ya got to work with

    In my country, people are extremely prejudiced towards things that are out of the ordinary for them in their daily lives and seeing a person carrying a fishing rod in their hands generates looks of astonishment or comments that it is a program for people of low social status. They don't understand that fishing is a sport and that it can be practiced by everyone, even those who don't depend on fish to survive. Therefore, buying a telescopic rod of the best model available, for example. The DAIWA BBB and being able to hide it inside a backpack, avoids this entire unpleasant situation, in addition to being very practical and reliable. I love putting all my fishing gear in my backpack, taking the subway and going fishing without big bags in my hands.

    You could pull Chris because the wheels help you and make the weight you need to move him less. That’s why it would be easier to pull Chris on a bike than it would be to lift him.
    But you’re right that a 10lb fish that you’re reeling in won’t feel like 10lbs. Because of the “weightlessness” the water gives things.
    Technically you would be able to move a whale with that rod if it wasn’t fighting you, it would just move SUUUUUUPER slow because you wouldn’t be able to pull very hard

      Try a Shakespeare telescopic rod, it can handle a 10lbs thrashing bass no problem.

    Comparing my 7'6 St.Croix rods and Penn rods, they can handle any fish you throw at them, but can the telescopic rods handle them as well? Let's say a 25-40 inch striper? Or a 20 pound cat? I dont know, I just imagine telescopic rods being really fragile.

      Yes they can handle it as long as you tire the fish out with the drag on your reel.

    Making it so much harder than it has to be, points for over dramatization, but I'll stick to my classic

      I've just had too many bad experiences with telescoping rods, like theu break too easy, i trust my $3 2pcs rod more that the $80 telescoping rod i bought as a backpacking rod, which broke the first time i used it. I'd appreciate any advice you can give to prevent this from happening in the future, love your videos, you inspire me to get out more. Keep up the great work.
