@@fishingtutorials: Just found this, Carl; haven't been on #TH-cam much lately, but it's great to see. I know I was overwhelmed when I went back fishing, during the pandemic; a video like this would've done wonders...
Hey there, I just wanted to tell you that I‘ve been exclusively spin fishing for many years now and after discovering your main channel, thanks to your appearance on those german fishing channels, and after watching a lot of your videos, I tried going back to the roots and fishing for coarse fish again. You made me rediscover the fun in this type of fishing and I also learned a lot I did not know before. Your videos are both instructive and entertaining and it‘s always fun to watch. And the amount of work and dedication you put into those videos is on another level 💪🏻 Greetings from Germany ✌🏻
Thanks for this. Super helpful. I'm only just getting into fishing my late 30s and getting outdoors with the kids and learning alongside them... Well it's early days, but it's been refreshing and a lot of fun so far. Thanks for all the effort that goes into making these videos.
Ahh you're welcome mate, glad you found it helpful! Great to find a new hobby :) makes me super happy each time the tutorials are able to help someone learn. All the best!
Hey Carl, I just wanted to drop a note that I bought your book and it is magnificent! I would say I am an experienced angler but I thoroughly loved reading it. It is of high quality, beautifully illustrated and full of great information and advice! You should be very proud and I have ordered a bunch for family and friends!
Watching your videos and seeing your rigs vs what we do in the states is super interesting to say the least alot of our decisions on rods are based in class of rod and length and that dictates our reels. For examples when trout fishing we will take ultralight 4'6" to 6'6" rods or bass fishing we look for medium to medium heavy 6' to 7'6" rods. It is so unique to see other rods for species we either don't have or are not in the general area we fish in.
Great video. However back in the day re carping people bought 10 and 11ft rods until the early to mid 90’s only then did carpers opt for 12 and 13ft rods. The trend now however as you rightly point out is to be back to 10ft carp rods- everything goes in circles! Keep up the good work
Pellet waggler rods are basically slightly shorter, stepped-up float rods. Manufacturers sell lots of them so they are relatively inexpensive, and serve lots of purposes. Ideal for roach, perch, tench, chub and smaller river barbel, with float, bomb or light feeder. They fit the old Avon rod niche now that modern Avons have turned into specimen rods. If I could only have one rod it would be a pellet waggler.
Hi Carl, I'm new to fishing and the clip is a brilliant insight for me. Could you do another about reels please and what the best line to use for different methods? Would be great to understand what reels work best for different fishing...THANKS!!
Loved this video, thanks for explaining. Just started a few months ago and was sold the correct rod but no real understanding what it was for and why it was the right one. 👍
Hey Carl, really enjoying the channel and has helped to respark my passion for fishing great work and thanks for what you do. It’s nice to see a channel that is out here for passionate purposes and educating instead of profit. Keep it up mate 👏
Little did I know, that after watching Alex's videos as a beekeeper, I will end up here as my 8 year old is showing interest in fishing. We both watch your videos as they are super entertaining.
Great vid Carl, while i was watching the vid it reminded me of when i was a kid and my dad gave me his float rod. It was a 14' fiberglass rod and it was heavy as hell 😁👍
I’ve bought A spinning rod thinking it was dropshot and i ordered a float rod and got sent a feeder, then the correct float rod reorder has now been lost, so not my best month for buying rods, cheers for the guide tho 😂
i use Avon 1 an half lbs tc rod for commercial fishin lakes for f1etc. an my speci carp set up 9ft 3lb nash dwarfs rod my syndicate lake love all sorts fishin an all fish🎣
As a newbie, Rods is something I've had issues with ! I've bought so many and all the wrong ones most of the time . I caught my first 13lb carp last year, and my rod snapped on me, and that was a lesson learned . I need to invest in some new kit this season, I've a nice little 9ft nash carp rod that is perfect for where I fish for carp . Could I use this for other fishing? I need small and transportable rods. Float fishing is my goto at the moment, but I fish carp here and there, too . What would you recommend, Carl ? love your content glad to see tutorials still happening 👏
I've been watching your videos because I've started to learn to fish and I have to say you make it look easy lol 😆 I don't even know what type of fishing I want to do in my head I want to catch monsters. But me being a beginner what type of rod should I be getting. I live in Glasgow and where I live I stay next to the river Clyde. I was just looking for info.
Most of the time carp are within fifty feet of shore for me. I use a seven foot long fiberglass two piece mh weight rod with a 4000 sized reel with a light and a bell. I now have baitclickers on most of my reels but I still tie them to my rod holder and tie my rod holder down. I mostly go catfishing and they violently take my bait and run. A lot of times my rod would be hanging in the water tied to the rod holder.
Lots of great information here, Carl! I checked out the behind the scenes video on your More Fish with Carl channel and it was one of my favorite videos in a long time! How dare you say that Americans have unhealthy eating habits. LOL We eat terribly over here. Don't get me wrong, the food usually tastes great but it is terrible for you.
Love this Carl, I have a 1.25 dual tip specimen rod which covers the majority of my fishing. I've just been asked to go and do an overnight at my local lake with a friend. It holds a good head of 20s and a few 30s. I don't do this often so I'm trying to avoid buying a whole new set up. Do you think this rod coupled up with a 10lb lined reel will be okay for the odd carp session?
Hey Carl, I just bought me a 10ft feeder rod to fish for small carp and suckers here in the US after watching your video. I was wondering about your opinion on the daiwa gs 4000 Ltd to go along with it.
Would you able to recommend a power feeder I could use on the rivers and lakes? Went to the local shop and the guy sold me barbel rod 2lbs, even tho I wanted a feeder. Sucks to be a newbie.
I don’t know if you will see this Carl but I wanna start carp fishing where should I get a beginner rod for a bit cheaper because I can’t buy expensive rods
Hey, I want one rod that will live with me forever. In Africa, new to fishing but I don't want get something cheap. Do you think I should go for the Kaizen green rod I saw in your video
Bit of a weird question but what class is a match rod be in? Because the only information I have on all 4 of my rods is length, number of pieces and match? For example 10dt match 2 pieces.
What was that lure rode called for all around mate? 8 to 8.5 ft one and what size real. Everytime i search for videos it just brings up ultra light. I want a decent budget 8ft light to medium or a medium action can you help please ?
I own a shakespeare 1847 strike 12ft rod from back a while it says b25 action what type of fishing is this rod designed for and what does b25 action mean, thanks
My son has been using an 8ft dropshot rod for float fishing for the last few months. He caught his pb, a mirror carp of 11lbs and now refuses to use any other rod.
Great video mate I use a Nash dwarf 9ft for carp fishing when out for a few hours stalking and use it for all my lure fishing trout and pike and perch and it's done me proud for many of years and I've also used my other carp rods for sea fishing on the harbour wall at Bridlington and always seem to catch more using my carp rods sea fishing if I was to use my actual sea fishing rod lol
Hi.. I am not sure you will reply but will give it a go, or maybe others could comment. I am a novice to fishing at the age of 74, but now want to take it up. I have fished and enjoyed it many years ago, but now have time on my hands. That out of the way; my Son has given me a Shimano Eclipse telescopic rod and a Shimano 6000FB Hyperloop reel to get me started. Would these be suitable for general lake fishing please? I would be happy to purchase another rod and reel if these are not suitable for my needs. Thank you in advance…
I'm lazy I just buy Avon rods for float and ledger rods, 11ft 1lb and 12 ft 1.5lb .do have 12ft 3lb test curve for carp and pike dead baiting .never got into lure fishing.
It can, but spotting bites is slightly harder if fishing for small fish like roach or perch. For carp and tench you’ll see bites on the rod tip no problem as they pull the rod round strongly!!
So i dont fish maybe a little when i was younger, ive been looking at getting into a bit of carp fishing so the question is what price would i be looking at for a starter set up Any comments are much appreciated
While it isn’t as popular, there are plenty of us that fish for carp, buffalo, suckers, gar, and other less popular species. In fact in North/South Carolina there are paylakes that specialize in carp fishing tournaments. Also, fly fishing for carp is growing more popular. I commonly use 9 to 12 foot rods for carp fishing from shore.
For sure.. with the aid of a boat or 140m of nash bushwacker 😉😂 The Ugly stik elite (rated upto 60g) surprisingly worked pretty well spoding out around 80yards. my main rod is Ugly stik 9ft medium action Gx2. From catchin 1z gudgeon with a feeder to double sized carp & pike🤘
There's always 1 I'm the comments isn't there. It's quite simple, don't like it? Don't watch it. You the type of guy who buys a pint, takes a sip, doesn't like it then complains how the pint isn't to your taste and standards to the bar keep. Lmao
Hello Carl, great to see you again. Because of your tips with catching carp on corn,i cought 6 carp in 1 day.thanks Carl
Love this :) that's amazing!!
Now i caught 9 :)

Awesome to hear this mate, thank you! Tight lines :)
Thanks for the video Carl. Maybe a follow up video for Specialist / Avon rods? For me they pretty much cover all if the fishing.
Tight Lines 🎣

Haha that's cool! Thanks for watching :)
Brilliantly explained with excellent clarity Carl. Top vid as always.
Thanks man :) I'm glad.
Very helpful and informative video!
Thanks👍
Great video, I use my old carp rods to go sea fishing with, works OK so far 👍
Can’t wait to give this a watch after I’ve been even fishing
I find my TFG all in one helps out a lot, it lives in my car and can be used for most river situations.
Great vid Carl, while i was watching the vid it reminded me of when i was a kid and my dad gave me his float rod. It was a 14' fiberglass rod and it was heavy as hell 😁👍
Thank mate, I'm glad :)
Great video very informative for anyone who is thinking of getting into fishing
Thanks Stephen, I'm glad you think so 👍
This video made my Saturday

Go into your local tackle shop? It's much better than online when starting out.
@@stevewilliams5428can’t, fellas an absolute arsehole and the tackles crap anyway
@stevewilliams5428 some are some try sell you a load of stuff you will never use .
All good stuff Carl . People will understand after what you have to say 👍
Thanks Trevor, appreciate it :)
Cheers for these videos Carl they help so much !
Ahh I'm glad :) you're welcome mate!
Will you do a tench fishing video ? Or a course session ?
We did a tench tutorial a while back :) here you go: th-cam.com/video/55ZSe8hGuiY/w-d-xo.html

Great video! Thanks Carl! Good to know what I'm looking for when buying new rods! Would you make a similar video about reels?
Was just considering what rod to buy. Amazing video 😁
Glad it could help mate!
Hi Carl, can you make a video on how to use spring feeders for carp?
Hi, what reel do you use for your big lure set up and what company makes the 40-140g rod for pike, thanks.
i use Avon 1 an half lbs tc rod for commercial fishin lakes for f1etc. an my speci carp set up 9ft 3lb nash dwarfs rod my syndicate lake love all sorts fishin an all fish🎣

Hi Carl im just starting out and have no idea what to get, do you have any recommendations on what gear and where to buy from please?
Useful information Thank you ❤
You're welcome! :)
Hey Carl, I just bought me a 10ft feeder rod to fish for small carp and suckers here in the US after watching your video. I was wondering about your opinion on the daiwa gs 4000 Ltd to go along with it.
Hey could you make a video on how
to fish a deep lake ?

Because some people want a net that will deal with very big fish too :)

All of human history proves them wrong
"they have a very soft tip that bends slowly around into the butt" 💀
👀😂

Where is bolo rod, where is bolentino rod, where is surf rod, where is jigging rod, where is slowpitch rod ?
