Ok, a review of accessories for a product I don't own. Seemed like a waste of time to me... but since I like your reviews in general, why not give it a try? Total success, as always a pleasure to look at. Your straightforwardness, your honestly and your warmth make your videos totally worth looking at. Good work!
Hi Russ, quick question about the Tinyrigs case please: can the Osmo be stored in the case with the Freewell WA lens attached, or will the Freewell perhaps fit into one of the custom slots ? Your channel is a fantastic resource, and really well presented : honest and entertaining. Thank you. Got the Pocket as a gift, but I don't own a drone ..... yet .... maybe 2020 !
I haven't seen either case in person, but there would be 3 sources of potential water leaks. Less obvious is the screw mount and the control buttons; if water leaks from there it would be a design fault. The obvious is the big ring that is screwed on. By design, that should be an O-ring and should be lightly lubricated with grease and NOT over-tightened as shown in this video. Over tightening causes an O-ring to deform which allows water to leak. Lesson one for night diving - don't over tighten the dive lights' cases and don't over lube the O-ring. A potential design flaw is an O-ring isn't actually used to seal the case; that would need confirmation that they actually use a proper O-ring and not some other ineffective style. Yes, I know this is 1 year behind the times but am posting for anyone that has the Pocket 2.
I could watch your reviews all day. Great job!!!! I am new to the whole digital video. I use to be into the video back in Analog days. It's amazing how much has changed. I recently purchased the Mavic Mini and am having a blast with it. Hoping for Christmas I will get an Osmo Pocket.
I have the DJI waterproof case, I bought it for wet weather use while hiking. I just tried it out in the sink and under a running tap for about 10 minutes. It appears to work fine.
About the problems you had with the waterproof case, and I apologize in advance if this has already been mentioned, did you remember to spread a small amount of silicon grease around the gasket before sealing it up? It's something divers do with their underwater cameras. And, more to the point, did Ulanzi mention that in their instructions? Regardless, thank you, this was an EXCELLENT description of Pocket accessory options.
Good video, thank you for sharing. Especially the water case you put in the pool. How can any screw up with o rings. Glad I saw your video first.👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
Russ i saw you had said you got a Rode Wireless go mic just wanted to let you know that there is a new style windshield for it. When you register it there’s a spot you can click on to have them send you the new ones. Any questions please contact me. Have a great weekend
Hi!! I lost my osmo 2 + S8 plus (inmersion in water by accident), I was happy with the hyperlapse mode, timelapse and motion lapse of course. I´m thinking buying an osmo pocket instead a new mobile and a new osmo 3 (that would be a little expensive right now). In your experience, would you recommend osmo pocket to use these modes (TL, ML, HL)? I see some interesting accesories like water case and filters ND... Thanks for taking time to read this.
Thanks Russ ... I literally had just placed an Amazon order for the Ulanzi tripod phone mount, cancelled that and got the one shown in your video! You may want to see the comments I and others posted about the underwater case ... you, literally, over-tightened the case and doesn't appear any grease was used to lubricate the sealing ring. If Ulanzi used anything other than an O-ring, that's a design flaw. Cheers, Steve
How long does a battery charge last and does it have replaceable batteries? Also, I don't think the Ulanzi phone/Osmo mount has a "Hot Shoe" mount, it's just a shoe mount.
For the Wide-Angle lens for the Pocket, I noticed that there's a lot of wide lens out there but none more "tele" lens. I guess that it's something that can't be done? I have Pocket 2, its ok but I would like the possibility to have tighter shots
JordanDwn103 love mine , however I have the WiFi to , sooo and that to me is by far the most used , I can take my phone and perfect the scene without check and making adjustments since the view is live and on me instead of where the camera is sitting , you can then download the video over WiFi too
Thanks so much for these suggestions and all the info on the Osmo Pocket! My husband just got me one for Christmas and I've learned a lot from your videos! :)
thank u so much for sharing these tips..good thing i watch ur review coz im abt to buy that cheap waterproof casing... i bought the DJI one...much more pricey but my Cosmo will be more safe..
Very good clip here Russ, Thanks for sharing all of these items and the @realworldreviews with all of us for each of the items. There were a couple of them that I can actually say I wish I had.
Hi Russ, thank you for the video. I would like to know your opinion about mic adater, because from DJI is around 35€ and from a generic brand can cost around 17€. is it worth buying DJI mic adapter? Thank you in advance. best regards from Portugal, Bruno Alcaide.
Russ question, bought a nice osmo pocket used it has tons of extra stuff, but no wall charger, I see the bok says 2 Amp, most iPad chargers are 2.5 amp what would you recommend for a walk charger don't want to hurt battery Also my moto phone charger is USB C buy a turbo charger 2.0 amp Thanks for advice
That's what I did Alan, but didn't think to post it ! That said, I am looking to buy the "bigger case" because I like the idea of keeping the thumb-wheel attached and having ready-to-hand storage for filters etc. Only problem I have is that the I cannot find the Tinyrigs Case on Amazon.co.uk (only on Amazon.com)
I truly appreciate you doing these videos, I just bought the osmo pocket and I want to set it up correctly. Thank you, I'm a big fan of your content. Can you or anyone else on here give me advice on the best video editing software to buy used ? I have powerdirector 16 right now but if there is a better choice please let me know. Thank you!
Hay russ have some questions about the mavic pro, I have seen video of it flying 2miles away. I haven't gotten mine to fly more then 1/2 mile before I get a image transmission signal error it's been sent back to Dji twice for this same problem. So can you help. Do I need to be more in the open does trees affect it.
@51drones thank you so much for trying these products out and giving us your honest feedback. So many times content creators will just talk good about products these are really helpful budget ideas for vloggers!
audio adapter 3.5mm is actually the best accessory; dji original for $39 is the only adapter on the market that works with pocket (but surprisingly doesn't work with action).
Have you noticed that no other USB c connection is possible to use once the mic adapter is plugged in? DJI again screwed up the system. I can't use the mic adapter if I want to use the phone as monitor, and the same happens when I try to use the wifi adapter. Mic adapter works only alone which renders the entire system useless 😳 All they care is ripping off customers with the additional gadgets but they don't bother with the compatibility. If you haven't experienced these, try it, you will see.
Great video Russ and very informative, although I don't currently have the pocket I enjoyed the video. Smart move on the paper towel test. Thanks for sharing.
I can't figure out why my osmo pocket will not connect to my phone it keeps saying connected disconnected connected disconnected it never will connect fully
I wish this video would have been out before I bought the Ulanzi wide view lens. I completely agree with you on the poor quality of video using that lens. Thank you for another helpful video 👍😁
Hey Vloggers! Word of warning to anyone looking at the Ulanzi mount. The cold shoe at the top is a bit too far forward. If you use the rode video micro it will be visible in some selfie shots. I don't think it will be a problem with a smaller microphone though. And it doesnt cause problems if you're not doing your talking head shots with it 👍
Thanks Russ i can agree with you on all points I have all of the peace’s you showed and they work just as you said. I did have a problem with the case, it wouldn’t fit to yfi mod on the Pocket and go in the case just to long. Thanks Again Russ 100% Right
Russ, there's a very serious problem that you may want to take a look at. It actually renders the entire osmo pocket ecosystem useless. It's the incompatibility of the (original) mic adapter with any other USB c connection that you want to use simultaneously. Either mic adapter or phone connected. Either mic adapter or wifi adapter. None of the combinations work simultaneously, even if I use the ulanzi USB port split thingy.
Lmao “best option is to get a GoPro if you want to use your osmo in the water”. Soooo true why on earth DJI doesn’t make the pocket water proof is irritating.
Ok, a review of accessories for a product I don't own. Seemed like a waste of time to me... but since I like your reviews in general, why not give it a try?

The "waterproof" case test worth the price of admission by itself! Thanks very much for that. BTW, cool cat!
Does the Ulanzi Charger Base support audio as well?

Fantastic Video Russ
Thanks for taking the time.
Really digging the new intro graphics!
Thanks for the good reviews and honest opinions.
That underwater housing begs the question - just how good is the one DJI makes at keeping the water out?
I haven't seen either case in person, but there would be 3 sources of potential water leaks. Yes, I know this is 1 year behind the times but am posting for anyone that has the Pocket 2.
The desktop mount is incredibly useful for hooking up a power bank while it's on a tripod shooting a timelapse
thanks for the info, good thing I saw this b4 purchasing the water"proof" case
Thanks Russ! looking at the Charger Base .

I have the DJI waterproof case, I bought it for wet weather use while hiking. I just tried it out in the sink and under a running tap for about 10 minutes. It appears to work fine.
Fill up your sink, and let it float in there for a while. Then check it. water running over it is much different.
@@51Drones I did. 10 minutes floating.

Hey can I just buy the ulanzi op 10 for just protection purpose not for taking it *inside the water* only for protection for a few minutes.
Do you know anywhere I could buy the charging base and the screen/lens cover? Amazon doesn’t have them anymore and just bought an Osmo Pocket
Thanks Russ ... I literally had just placed an Amazon order for the Ulanzi tripod phone mount, cancelled that and got the one shown in your video! Hello, what is the best camera to buy between Osmo pocket or action? Let me know. Thank you
I'm scare to use my osmo pocket in the pool. You gave a nice tip to test waterproof accesories with the paper towel. Thanks.
Thanks so much for these suggestions and all the info on the Osmo Pocket! My husband just got me one for Christmas and I've learned a lot from your videos! :)

Great stuff...thanks for putting this together for us novices.
Very good info Russ. I liked the timelaps of the waterproof case going around and around in the pool.

So far, I am very pleased with the DJI one. I can't speak to the quality of the other brands.
@@51Drones Thanks, best regards. Bruno
I got an Osmo Pocket, is there a way to get a zoom lens for it?

@@51Drones okay thank you very much
Thank you for informing us
On equipment
Perhaps you have already done a review of this; is there a mount that holds an Ipad Mini 4 in conjunction with the Osmo Pocket?
Not that I've seen yet.
You’ve saved a lot of people a lot of disappointment! Cheers man
You could drill a little hole in the DJI case to see the charging light and save the money you might spend on a second case.
Cheers mate! You saved me quite a few quids there! Great info!
Nice honest reviews... thanks :)
Well done! Love the studio. Sound is great and video quality is great. SPOT ON!
That was a funny water time lapse , like placing a bet if the blue floating toy would ever catch the case XD
Completely WOW😍

Brian Pearl Davinci Resolve, it’s free
Hi where can I get the case. Can’t find in Amazon thank you
Could you sent me the full name of the Stockcase and where to by.
Hay russ have some questions about the mavic pro, I have seen video of it flying 2miles away. Trees affect it a lot! Also, if there is a lot of interference near you.
@51drones thank you so much for trying these products out and giving us your honest feedback. So many times content creators will just talk good about products these are really helpful budget ideas for vloggers!
Just curious are there any other cameras in a similar style as the Osmo pocket that you’ve used and liked?
I haven't found anything like it. But I did just get the Osmo Mobile 3, so I'll check that out.
I just purchased the mobile 3 but I’m seriously thinking about the pocket for when I’m flying and for performance shots with my band
I modded my stock DJI case to show the LED/charge. Surprised DJI missed that detail.
Do you really need a wide angle lens for the pocket?
Absolutely! It will be a game changer!
Check out the contour room Without the kase it is Waterproof
audio adapter 3.5mm is actually the best accessory; dji original for $39 is the only adapter on the market that works with pocket (but surprisingly doesn't work with action).

Thanks for keeping it real and honest.
So what happens when you accidentally hit the power while the Osmo is inside the Sunnylife screen/lens protector?
Desktop mount is the best item. Can do long time-lapses whilst on a tripod.
Great information thank you
Russ, thanks for this review it was very beneficial for me.
😂😂 I just bought the underwater case haven’t tested it yet but looking at your review on it I’m sending it back. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Definite thumbs up, and a sub too. Invaluable, thank you. Looking forward to the wide-angle alternative you mentioned!! 👍👍
This is just amazing. I have a wide angle and macro from a brand called Kase. I also have their variable filter and they are all nice
Great video Russ and very informative, although I don't currently have the pocket I enjoyed the video. Smart move on the paper towel test. Thanks for sharing.
"it's bulky, but I consider it a carry-on"... Haha good stuff!
Cool stuff.!
Thanks for the advice
thats very helpful! thanks!
GREAT REVIEW... NOW WE KNOW! THANKS
Hey, I have a question/comment, @ 10:17 where I played, we called that cheating. ??? lol
Lol!
Thanks for the video...
Thanks Russ. Great review.
I can't figure out why my osmo pocket will not connect to my phone it keeps saying connected disconnected connected disconnected it never will connect fully
That "water proof case" didn't look like it had a rubber seal on it to prevent water from getting in. Is it missing a seal?
The seal is there. I'm not sure how the water is getting in. Maybe where the buttons are.
I wish this video would have been out before I bought the Ulanzi wide view lens. I completely agree with you on the poor quality of video using that lens. Thank you for another helpful video 👍😁
I just bought it 😭
Great reviews, Russ. Informative and useful!
I just get my yesterday Mr Russ..... it’s soooo small... lol... yes wait for next few pay checks to get Accessory
Thankyou
Hey Vloggers!
Word of warning to anyone looking at the Ulanzi mount. The cold shoe at the top is a bit too far forward.
If you use the rode video micro it will be visible in some selfie shots.
I don't think it will be a problem with a smaller microphone though. And it doesnt cause problems if you're not doing your talking head shots with it 👍
I want this camera so bad, thanks for the info tho
For water accessories, you're supposed to make sure the rubber is well greased to repel water.
2:07 cold shoe, not hotshoe.
Thanks Russ i can agree with you on all points I have all of the peace’s you showed and they work just as you said.
I did have a problem with the case, it wouldn’t fit to yfi mod on the Pocket and go in the case just to long. Thanks Again Russ 100% Right
Freewell wide lens is what your alluding to and it’s already out
Great video, FYI: you said mount a lot more than you did "drone" lol
Mountings on this mount ...
Nice video (except the wide angle i dont agree 😊) thanks anyway!
It's an affordable accessory if you decide to use it.

Wheeennn the HDMI OUT
I almost bought the water proof case glad I didn't thanks Russ maybe see if DJI one will be better, like to capture some of those Dakota storms.
Thats just luck i tried it with my osmo pocket with the ulanzi on the pool water didnt enter at all
Just adding a 👍 From here as well.
The waterproof case for the osmo pocket made by dji is a hopeless case no stabalizer just get an osmo action or hero 8 done
I wonder how long it will take for the comments...wait for it...to mount!
Waiting for groans or applause.
Lol
Silicone grease from lowes or
Home depot in plumbing may solve that
But should Not have to.
I'm 1 day late on this review. The wide angle lens is "gabbage". Great review though
Lmao “best option is to get a GoPro if you want to use your osmo in the water”. Soooo true why on earth DJI doesn’t make the pocket water proof is irritating.
I feel really bad for the people who bought that item and ruined there Osmo pocket because it had of been me I would have been very upset.
Is that a DJI Osmo Pocket you got in your pocket? .. Or are you just happy to see me?
Don't like the sound on the background
My girlfriends phone got damaged from a waterproof case
Don't buy the osmo pocket itself and save the headache of sending it back.
