- I'm going to get in trouble for letting this fishing tip out of the box. Lipless crankbaits and small swimbaits are deadly for winter cold water fishing, in this video I show you how to catch fish on both lures.

Great stuff, Mikey! I do like a silent crank for cold water fishing! For me, I gotta have a Frittside tied on when we turn the corner and head from winter into the prespawn. And if those temps are a bit higher, say 50-60 then I can get away with something like a Googan Flat Banger that's good and noisy.

I add extra split rings to a lot of my jerk baits to give a little extra weight and sound when I want to change the sit or rise.
I like the way you redeemed yourself after that one giant coming off and then you switch locations and land another good one. Love your content brother.

Under the first treble hook I use Super glue to attach a small screw like something comes out of a computer or whatnot and test it in my aquarium.

Thanks Mike. Not telling you how to weight your jerkbaits, just helping out. Pet shops sell live plant weights that are thin lead strips you can wrap on the hook shank.
you could also change out one of the hooks to a little bit larger treble and that could get your jerkbait to sink and perform a little different

I've been killin' em on a #7 Live River Shad Shad Rap, loaded with SuspenDots. Got a 6-2 spot and a 4-1 head yesterday, on back to back casts, from the same spot!
You can also get some stick on strips made by Storm from Tackle Warehouse, you can cut them to whatever size you want but the split shot is a great idea, when you're on the water you make do with what you have

Besides the SW 110's, X-80 trickdarters and Ito Shiners typically sink when the regular 110 slow floats in the winter.
You showin that silent trap reminds me, the last couple weeks since this cold snap came through the Ozarks, the Silent 110 has been catching better for me than ones with rattles.

Just asking out of curiosity, is there a reason you put the weight on the bend of the hook as opposed to the shank?
it's super hard to get it to crimp to the shank - and it usually comes off alot easier on the shank

I had the same problem with my supposed slow risers... And found a spool of lead wire in Bass pro shops fly shop they didn't have it out on the floor with the other lead products... Give bog a pat on the head for me ☺️

Great video bud. U should check out the sinking provoke by 6th sense. I was at table rock where I live and I was jerking it almost 25 ft deep. It's legit for sure. Somehow the action is consistent.

Not hating, good idea to add weight but it’s better to add a bigger hook or extra split ring. Both of those should be readily available in your boat/lure box.

low 50's i believe. I've never taken off the center hook like you mentioned is there some kind of benefit to doing it?

Bro I'm In the same boat. Got like 2 different 6lbers a few days of each other, then nothing for like 2 weeks then got smash by a 7.5lber ...... then the last 3 days I've caught 3 stick fish , 1 nice rock pounder that broke me off . Today I caught a old jerkbait that broke off . So least I caught something lol one another note I see that it's fair sunny out and water Clarity is about the same as what on fishing , I have a medium size gold swimbait. The trace to be Specific . I wanna get bit on it but the gold I always was told to fish in overcast or raining days . Never on a nice sunny day . You have any opinions when to throw that?
i like the gold more for the semi stained/green water color or tannic water color - for me cloudy or sunny isn't such a big deal.
