I pretty much make everything I fish anymore, including the rods. I got back into bass fishing two years ago after a long hiatus. The one thing I found is how stupid prices are on mostly Chinese made crap that I could easily make myself. So that's what I do. Not only is it fun, but saves me money and I get exactly what I want.
I bought a ton of skirts and the skirt tool from TW after watching your video on the "secret color". Picked up a bunch of cheap (but quality) jigs from a spot here in town, and should be good to go for a while! Keep up the good work with the videos and tight lines!
Hey Mikey. Super cool video, Thank you for showing us how to make jigs. I am going to start making jigs now. There are colors in my head that I can't find and now I can just make them. You are the coolest on youtube when it comes to fishing. As always Much love to the bogster !!!!
I was just going to order some customs from someone off IG, but now you convinced me to do it myself! Haha sorry to that guy he was waiting. I will probably make a small ord r just cause I told him I would
I make my own jigs now as well and a couple things to watch out for is the quality of the hook that comes in pre-made jigheads and what the skirt collar looks like. I bought a particular company’s jig head and when sliding the skirt on I found out that the skirt collar is extremely blunt, making it difficult ( and more likely to push my finger into the hook) to get the skirt all the way onto the collar.
Brother as always great video. Now I no how to do I'm going to start myself. Lov the start of the video at the bridge as bog was chilling an as soon as he seen the rod bent an you cranking it he come alive. Lov it Brother. Thanks. I give this one a 10.
I am still looking for a jig material that changed from brown to purple depending on the light. I caught tons of bass and striped bass on jigs I made with that color, in California.
I do the same for years. The one thing I dislike is the weed guards are too flimsy. They need to be stiffer to actually make the jig "weedless" and yet collapse to set the hook. Alimony which is a blue-green color and purple is a great color mix. I add brown/orange as a spring craw for Missouri. Fireball which is a red/orange/pumpkin-green mix that are my go to colors for spring. The round grommet, that I will definitely give a try.
Reason why that jig kit is out of stock is because of you , I have a long time sub and I have been tying my own skirts since the original vid! Your content is the best, hope one day to get to meet you in Florida! I live near the Harris Chain! Tight lines.
I should be down around 44 tackle and Inverness around the end of August hopefully. And I'm working on Monster bass to see if we can get a jig kit put together because I think that's such a great starting point for a lot of guys and it's so easy to use
Mikey. I am a 6th generation Floridian and yes, a woman angler. Grew up offshore fishing and just am in my 2nd year of bass fishing. Alot of you guys talk about seeing what baits are in our lakes. Well, as you well know, a lot of our central south Florida lakes are dark murky water. How do I know what baits the bass are eating so I have a better idea of what to throw? Would love your input on that. Thanks buddy! Tight lines..
I got the stuff to make my own jigs from scratch - molds, lead pot, everything. I even make my own bladed jigs. I did this because I love fishing jigs and I spent way too much money on them. I figured I'd make my own and save a ton of cash. Well, I have boxes and boxes of homemade jigs that absolutely slay out on the water...they catch hawgs! And....I still buy jigs. I also make some soft plastics like stickbaits and craws too. I went nuts with it. I have more than I can ever use. If you ever want any of it, just say "Hey Lowbrow, how about sending me some of that stuff you make." And I'll be happy to ship some to you.
that's hardcore! i haven't ventured into that realm yet, just don't have enough time t be honest. maybe down the road but you know how that is. what's your favorite one you pour?
@@mikeybalzz Honestly, it's not that hard. I can probably crank out 10+ jigs in an hour without much effort. I really like making swim jigs, which I also use to make chatterbaits. And I also make arkie (casting) jigs, and flipping jigs.
@@mikeybalzz I actually make the chatterbaits. I pour the jigs and put the blades and clips on. Although I do really like those switchblade attachments! I sent you a pic of some of the stuff that I make.
I also skirt my own jigs, I have a guy that makes the jig head with great hooks then I order living rubber skirt material and make my skirts, I also will mix silicone and rubber
@Mikeyballz thank for more great content bro. What trailer did you use in this vid? I live in the UK 🇬🇧 so not fortunate enough to be able to target bass but a finesse style jig with a nice chunky profile works well for big perch. Peace brother✌️
Hoping if that happens this year if I got more tank fish I'd be able to bring them in. I got the wire line to tie to braided line I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞 in hopes I can bring them in if more tanks bite my line. To think I lost 5 jigs because they bit through my line as I tried lifting them. They fought the whole way. Wish my buddy was there to help. This was the most intense ordeal of fishing the river I ever dealt with. Wondering just maybe it it was stripers it was late summer early fall could very likely have been. Hard to say couldn't bring fish up plus as stated earlier hard to see because the intense splashing in the river.
I have a question I feel stupid asking I watched a video you gave up some juice I saved the video but it was about this certain lure head thst was used just to see with live scope I can't remember but it was a Swimbait but it glowed on the livescope
@mikeybalzfishing that's smart brother just buy skirts to change for conditions. Sadly I've had to buy jigs simply because I had tanks cut through my braid line with their teeth in the river. Sadly didn't reel them in but the fight was intense. I should of used wire line. There's wire line with a clip to put hook onto wire line with a metal loop to tie knot onto wire line. If I had that maybe I could of had these fish. Then again fight was so intense an fish were heavy to the point I couldn't bring them up to pull them in. This happened to me at least 5 times. Can you imagine losing 5 fish because as you try to reel them in an you can't because they fight so hard their heavy an then finally bite through your fishing line 😳😳😳
Mikey I been watching your channel faithful every day for the last month or so. I really just got into bass fishing ( been a trout fisherman for years) Anyways we have a pond by my house on a golf range. I went to fish it one day, however ended up leaving because the amount of grass underwater is insane. Is that pond punchable????
Bro you should holler at boss for a partnership! No one pushes them and they are a great product! Sticky hooks and that weedguard sits perfect on the jighead and lays right over that hookpoint. You save $1-$2 per jig and its top tier like the dirty jigs and other brand names.
Man I've been looking for one of those jig making kits ever since you put out that video about you making your own Jigs a couple years ago.. tackle Warehouse still has it on the website but they don't have any in stock and they haven't for awhile.. do you know of anywhere else where you can buy the kit that has the skirt tool and tube.?
I’ve got to say it is much more cost effective and those boss jigs are well made ,usually averages to about $3 or so a jig for a quality jig can’t beat it I’ll never buy a single package store bought jig again.
Thank god this is not another noodle dicking video! 👽 Been making my own skirts since last year and it’s always cool when you catch a bass on a custom color that you know no one else is using
Hey Mikey nice vid. When do you prefer a round ball style vs football head when working rocks? Does it have to do with the weight of the jig head or depth perhaps?
i actually like that ball head almost all the time around rocks. if there's timber mixed in or tree falls that's when i go to that football. the ball head sucks in wood.
Cuple drops of mineral oil on there or in the tube and it makes pulling the skirts Ezra. I MEAN EZ LIKE A DRUNK ROLLING PROM DATE EZ SO WATCH BECAUSE YOU WILL PULL IT WAY TO MINE TIMES 😂😂😂😂🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼😊
