Cold feels to me has quite a lot of lore behind him (Like being a mutant of his species, as well if he founded the empire or inherited the throne from his parents), but sadly became a tool to showcase Future Trunks' power.
FUN FACT : Yajirobe was in the DB LEGENDS story (he did nothing). Same thing for Nail (he got his ass kicked by characters stronger than Namek Freeza).
the best thing the community have done with cold is the dragon ball multiverse fan manga ik that he's ginyu there but just the appreciation to his power and the possibilities of his transformation and the characterization is so cool and makes me wish we had more of him in normal dragon ball
I honestly wish Nail got to at least push Frieza into his further forms, he's supposed to be the Namekian Champion but the only thing he did was get his skull caved in and then hype Piccolo
That would conflict with 1st form frieza (the only form most knew) being the strongest in the universe. Which is the narrative akira was trying to push in the namek saga.
It should be noted if King Cold's transformations were to be like Frieza, it would simply mean that he's able to supress his power, as Frieza developed them to control his maximum power. It would also make no sense with the statement of him being close to Frieza in power if he were able to increase his power with transformations.
His power in that state was close to Freeza in that state. Mecha Freeza, despite visually not being buff, claims to be stronger than his 100% output on Namek(which would make sense with his known growth rate), so Cold being comparable to that has big implications. Freeza "developing" the transformations seems like a misinterpretation to me, I don't think that's the exact wording in the series, just that he stays in lower forms because they are more controllable. The logic is not much different from something like SSJ3.
Minor nitpick but the discrepancy between nail and piccolo about nail having softer features and a slimmer build is absolutely asinine. Its safe to say that any difference in the way they’re drawn is can be chalked up to little inconsistencies by whoever drew them.
I know Dragon Ball’s writing hasn’t always been the most consistent, especially in the latter half of the original manga, but I’m not really a fan of the idea of King Cold being stronger than Freeza since the narrative that had been built up to that point was always that Freeza was the strongest being in the universe, which has long since been forgotten I know but it was at least pretty consistent until the end of the saga. I know it’s just fun speculation and I’m probably taking it too seriously, but I think his resemblance to Second Form Freeza is more of a neat callback and the idea of him transforming was never even something Toriyama had ever considered. Love the shoutout to Nail also, I’ve always thought he was a cool character with a lot of untapped potential in his connection to Namek and power comparable to some of Freeza’s strongest henchmen, would’ve been great to see him in a proper fight. He was one of my favorites in BT3, his ultimate was one of the coolest attacks in the game.
I find it unlikely that Toriyama didn't consider it at all. As for the narrative though, remember that Vegeta was also the strongest in the universe in the immediate previous arc. Introducing a new strongest in the universe out of nowhere* right away is not unusual then. *Actually, Cold is mentioned by Freeza on Namek, so there is way more setup than there was for Freeza himself. He refers to Cold as the only other person able to seriously damage him in his final form which already puts him at a good relative level.
@@Supahdenning Fair enough that there’s a decent chance Toriyama at least considered the idea, I was a bit hyperbolic because the fact of the matter is King Cold really only exists in the narrative to showcase Trunks’ power even without his sword. Admittedly it’s been a while since I last read the original manga, but I don’t really recall anyone other than Vegeta himself making the statement of him being the strongest in the universe, which considering that just about every villain says something along those lines, isn’t meant to be taken as anything definitive. With Freeza it felt like there was much more of a focus on him being someone known and feared across the whole galaxy, and his status as this the ruler of the universe was highlighted quite often by numerous characters, which gives this statement about as much validity as you could get in this series. Again though, I’m going mostly off memory, so feel free to correct me. The most I recall that was said about King Cold’s power was that he was “around Freeza’s level” when the other Z-Fighters sensed his and Mecha Freeza’s arrival on Earth, so it’s fair to say he’s pretty close to Freeza’s power at least, but any speculation about his “true power” or potential transformations is kinda just that, fan speculation, since as was stated before he really just exists to get decimated by Trunks.
@@SilentMX Yeah that's all good. With Vegeta I want to note that by the nature of the Saiyan Saga, there weren't really any other characters to confirm or deny Vegeta's boasts. Him and Nappa were basically just two space fleas from nowhere with no context whereas Freeza has like a whole structure of hypemen around him. Which is to say I think it's incidental, as far as Toriyama's mind was concerned Vegeta probably really was the strongest in the universe for a bit until he revised it, just like how Gohan was originally going to be a "Super Saiyan" in some way.
Dang man! I’m glad you enjoy the videos, best of luck with your job situation, I hope it was a good place to get out off and I hope you find a good replacement!
When piccolo sees nail and kami in the flash of light in super. . . I cried, I just love stuff like the small things like in super thehero movie even though gamma 2 was as good as gone piccolo wouldn't let cell crush his body.
I can't remember the source but I remember hearing that the reason Yajirobe sounds like krillin is simply because Toriyama felt bad for the VA not having a role in the anime for a while
I think many people love these niche characters because of the potential they have. At least for Nail and Cold, we barely saw the extent of their abilities and they were quickly killed off so its fun to speculate on ehat they were capable of. Could nail have used similar abilities to piccolo? And could have cold had more transformations or the same potential that his son showed? Its just fun to speculate on what couldve been.
So I know that fusion, assimilation and absorption are different but post Frieza saga I viewed Nail as a part of Piccolo not really gone but now just one with him. I understand that Fusion has a perfect combination of both aspects of both fighters and Absorption does add physical differences despite the absorbed fighter's personality having no control but Assimilation gave Piccolo the memories, power and techniques of Nail and significantly magnifies that power yet keeps that same appearance. There needs to be something that makes it different from absorption.
Db multiverse covers this topic well on how strong king cold is and actually showed that he did have all the forms that frieza and the fifth form that cooler have not to mention that it wouldn't make since if didn't have them since he's a mutant of his Species like his son are.
I feel the need to mention that Frieza's "final form" is actually his base. I believe he explained in the Namek saga that his other forms exist to contain his power/power himself down. So considering that Cold also looks like he's in his Second form (or just fucking huge in his first), it would only make sense that he could power up to his "final form."
This too is a Dope Vid. King Cold is not Stronger than Frieza. King Cold cannot transform. Also, Frieza is a Genuine Prodigy of his race. A rare born standout. This is briefly highlighted in both the manga DBZ & the anime DBZ KAI. Now onto Da Goat Yajirobe. He is one of my fav Z fighters, under Yamcha, Tienshinhan. I love him so much. I wish they didn’t limit him as a Martial Artist. It would’ve been so coo to see Yajirobe fight in The Cell Arc or even the Frieza Arc. And have him learn how to properly cultivate his “ki” energy also learning how to fly & use “ki” blast. Yajirobe The OG Swordsman b4 Future Trunks. I Love they referenced Yajirobe as one of the Z fighters. He is Astoundingly Powerful. Kinda cowardly like Mr. Satan. But brave when he needs to be.
Ironically, in the manga Frieza in second form was stronger than Piccolo and it was heavily implied he was just fooling around and might be even able to beat Piccolo without transforming. In the anime, they appear to be evenly matched since even after Piccolo dropped his heavy clothing, Frieza managed to survive the entire onslaught with minimal damage. I don't think King Cold is underrated but more a missed opportunity. Being Frieza's father and the hyped power is what make him so disappointing. To me so much could have been done with him as Cooler is a good example. Just being related to one of the major antagonist gives so much potential what could have been done. 15:32 omg, the guy on the very right bottom. I think that's a character the Japanese fanbase likes to meme about as his only scene that was notable was to bring news to Paragus only to be killed. Yajirobi apparently has Krillin's voice. Toriyama said that so Krillin's voice actress can still be part of the anime cast. I liked him in the Saiyan Saga filler where the entire filming crew got him to do an interview regarding the Saiyan Crisis. He got to eat a feast and he enjoyed it. "This could be my last meal" is one of the lines I vaguely recall. I meantioned a few characters last time. Instead of mentioning the reasons, I will just list them all: General Rildo #Justice4Rildo, Naturon Shenron, Paikuhan, Broly Z, Paragus Z
I think you’re wrong about King Cold being stronger than Frieza. Toriyama said that Frieza was so naturally gifted because of his mutant genes, with potential surpassing his father. His power is still no joke. During their fight on Namek, Frieza says that Goku was the only person other than his father to hurt him in his true form. In Resurrection F, Frieza said he had never known defeat until he faced Goku. If he was stronger, why would he so willingly relinquish his throne to him in Broly?
Gohan also has potential surpassing his father, and Goku also tried passing on his "post" as protector-in-chief of Earth to him, until he got wrecked. There are parallels.
We got spared(?) an entire King Cold saga because Trunks did his usual badass "yeah I hear you guys transform and get a lot stronger. Could be a problem. Cya." *immediately ki blasts Cold through the heart.* You can just hear Vegeta seething "BOY, HE'S NOT EVEN IN HIS FINAL FORM? ARE YOU BLIND? DO YOU HAVE NO PRIDE? ARE YOU A WARRIOR AT ALL" and meanwhile Trunks is too busy being badass future Trunks to worry about pride or any of that shit if it means they all DIE. Imagine having to hold your tongue whilst your own father acts like a spoilt child and talks down to you, holy fuck Future Trunks got a bad hand. He should have trapped all of THE OTHER Z FIGHTERS in the Time Chamber and just got shit done and left. Left a card saying "you're fucking welcome, you war-thirsty maniacs".
Honest to god i still believe goten is under appreciated at least he has nothing interesting to his name besides fusion but he needs trunks other than that hes kind of nothing
@topitavi And doesn't that mean... he's underrated? He's literally Goku's second son and was stated multiple times to have potential comparable to Gohan, yet is barely utilized in the plot. If he's not underrated, then none of the characters in the video are either.
