Just bought one and your channel is a great help. Thanks! Fellow modding dad here about to get after on this thing. I normally build 500 hp muscle cars so this is fun
I really appreciate your videos. Our chain broke and I bought a new factory chain. I’m having trouble figuring out how to replace it. It would be great if you made a video showing how.
How do you adjust the chain? My daughter’s chain is pretty loose after about a month of riding. Edit- I watched the video . Thank you. The welds on the bolts where you adjust the chain snapped so I ground it down and drilled holes so that it doesn’t happen again.
Awesome video! I’m not very experienced in working on things like this but you explain it so well I think I could do it. Hoping to buy my son one of these for his 6th birthday. In your opinion, Do you think he would be able to handle it well? He can reach the pedals easily. Thanks!
@@NickMiriani yes my OE won broke pretty quickly, master link fell off. So I just bought the racing chain in the link which is stronger, won’t stretch as much, with a better master link
Questio regarding rectifier, if you haven't already noticed the lights are not very bright and the cockpit area is extremely dark in the evenings. Do you know of any upgrades from lighting?
@@josechepo559 the black screw on top adjusts the idle speed, the small gold screw adjust the air fuel ratio. Then you can also change out the jets. I am currently running a diff carb than I show in the video. I tried a stage 1 carb from gopowersports and it’s been great right out the box!
I added the same carb that you suggested for the air/fuel ratio and I’ve completely messed my ratio up. My jet is a .038. What ratio are you using to get such a good run?
I was using a .036 jet from the kit, and it was running good…but after a few runs I pulled the plug and it was running rich even tho I had the air/fuel ratio as lean as it could go. I actually tried out the stage 1 carb from gopowersports since then and it runs just as good but I am now getting a clean burn on the plug.
Is this the stock engine? If so I just bought the GK200 for my son who's 4 and I'm wondering if you could explain where th governor is and how to adjust it
The governor is a built in rev limiter on the engine internals. I didn’t mess with that, and it is not adjustable. There is a throttle limiter screw on the throttle linkage that you can adjust, and there is also a stop bolt on the gas pedal itself. Both of these will limit how fast the kart can go!
Thank you! I am not looking to do a governor delete because this thing is plenty fast enough for my son as it is. I still have the throttle limited to about 60% so still have lots of unused power to go. There are videos on how to do that tho!!
We have a kart that’s similar to yours . It’s only a few months old but my son has already broke 2 rear wheels at the center where they mount the hub . They are 3 bolt ( the ones that came with it ) I replaced it with another one just like it and that one lasted about 2 weeks and broke the same way . I want to do the same exact thing to ours that you did to yours. Do you think this will solve the problem of us breaking those cheapie 3 lug wheels ?
Couldn't you swap the lug nuts out so that the open style nut is holding the spacer to the hub and the closed lug nuts would be holding the wheel to the spacer? Just for aesthetics?
Thanks for the video! What do you think the top speed is with these upgrades? Also can you just do the engine and exhaust upgrades and not the tire and wheel?
Yeah you can do just the engine upgrades, the wheels are a completely separate mod…highly recommend jet kit if u do intake and exhaust, which also means new carb. I recently installed a stage 1 pre-built carburetor from gopowersports.com to give a try. Might do another video on that soon. Top speed I think is probably around 25-30mph depending on weight load and grade of the ground. Thanks for watching!
@@icebergslim3335I'm working out doing a tire upgrade on this same go kart. Out of the box mine was hitting 29mph from GPS. So I'd say you're right. Had the same issues as you with and the rear spring clearing the tire.
@@FamilySportsRips no but I believe the owners manual specifies which weight of oil is recommended, if I remember correctly. I do remember seeing something in there about the gear oil.
Great video's. My kids want a go kart and i was thinking of picking up one for Christmas. After having your for sometime, how has it held up and is it worth the money?
Thanks for watching!! As of right now it’s a thumbs up from me. Just regular maintenance and checking bolts for tightness is key. Have extra chain, belts, spark plugs, oil on hand. This model has a gear box so gear oil should be changed frequently along with motor oil, things like that are important. For the money you get a lot of kart!! I blast around on it myself no problem, a little tight, but doable.
Do the wheel spacers fit flush on to the hubs.? Most I've found say they have a inner bore size around 74mm. The hubs I'm using have a raised ring that's 88mm so the hole in the center of the spacer won't fit over the raised lip of the hub...
How much travel does the break pedal have on yours? I just got one of these for my kids and the brake travels maybe 1/4 of an inch. The cart stops fine but you can’t even push down far enough to set the parking brake.
I can’t set our parking brake either…if you adjust the bolt/nut that connects the pedal to the master cylinder I think it could be fixed. But I really don’t see a huge need to have the parking brake. Turn the wheel all the way left or right and it won’t roll as easy!
Not wheel related but please help. Having a few issues with ours that my kids just got for Christmas. 1)the harness/seatbelt doesnt stay tight. It always loosens all the up, and ends up hanging off their shoulders. 2)after about 30 minutes of run time it dies. It will start back up but about 30 minutes later it dies again. Does it mainly when they slow down. 3) the brake pedal will barely push in. Cant even push it far enough to use the parking brake pin. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated
The carbs that come on these are junk, definitely upgrade the carb as far as running well/stalling. Also be sure to turn off the gas while it’s still running after use, until it stalls out. That means u emptied all the gas from carb. Leaving gas in these carbs can be problematic. My parking brake cannot be used either it’s too tight as well, not a huge deal to me. I’m sure after more use and wear on the brakes eventually it will lock. Seat belt harnesses do have to be re-tightened. The harness is def not the best, but can be upgraded if you’d like. Plenty online you could install.
@@icebergslim3335 thank you so very much for the feed back. Any recommendations on a trusted website I can get an upgraded carb that will be compatible?
Over filling the fuel tank can cause the stalling issue also. It will overflow and saturate the charcoal canister, it's the little black rectangle box with the vacuum lines running to it, mounted to the very back of the frame/rear bumper. The seat belts are horrible, aside from upgrading them not much you can do.
I have not but the brake setup they use on these are pretty common you can buy the components on any cart site just gotta measure and compare them. It’s just a small hydraulic disc brake.
