This is why I like your channel, you do clean builds that aren’t a mess with wiring and you truly take your time in everything that you do to make the build 110%.
I just bought a KT196 for my kids.....Then I found this......I might have to buy another one! Thanks for making these videos, I am looking forward to having a good time with this machine now!
Only if they built them that well when you bought them. You've gotta be the worlds coolest dad! I was lucky to find a video on how to zip tie the factory spring to make it go faster. I've had lights for almost 2 years and still haven't got them mounted! Your kids are lucky to have you. This is parenting at it finest. Have a good one, buddy. 👍🏽 🎉
was going to buy my son one and searched for reviews and came across your vids. definitely not buying one now lol because a stock one wouldn't be enough for him and I'm not capable of upgrading like you have .. you def gained another follower great work
We just sold a rebuilt manco dominator but was having multiple issues with companies not being stocked with go karts so I ended up ordering this bad boye for my 3 boys to share and the stage 1 kit. Stoked!
Great build. I actually shattered my wrist on my KT 196 about a year ago. Time to do some repairs and upgrades and get back on the horse. Arms inside on a rollover...
Dude! that little Coleman go kart is mean!!! Great job RBG crew!!! I love that the 301 is in the video also, it is my favorite minibike. Keep it up and GOD BLESS.
That's a sick little cart right there. Nice touch with the red cup washers to the black paint job on it. Makes it all pop well. Just mist the gas tanks tho. would love to see you put a bit of a long travel on the front of it with the power its got now.
Great build. i just bought the Coleman KT196 for my nephew. And i have a question. Is there a kit to instal a electric starter without making the whole engine upgrade?
You could put a pipe nipple where the oil sensor wire comes through and have the oil in the catch can return to crankcase instead of worrying about oil level, some people might forget to check level and the more oil the less it breaks down.
The movie kung fu panda was a good movie. It gave me a new appreciation for ramen noodles because the old goose adoptive dad's secret noodle recipe was "nothing, its only special if you believe its special son". That gave me new hope as a Young lad. Goodnight ladies and gentlemen
Hey, Red! Love the build. 👍🏻 Tell me this, what would you do in this application to move to larger wheels / tires? I wish they made a 3 lug to 4 lug adapter (4x110 would be ideal) but I cannot find anything. What would you do?
Hey Red Beard, I noticed in the video that there is a bronze colored adjustment on the rear of the go kart attached to the engine plate with bolts and nuts. That is what you use to adjust the chain on the jack shaft. Also I want to see how fast this thing would go if you put a macooney carb and a billet flywheel. Lastly I would love to see and update on the Honda oddessy and you upgrade that engine and make it crazy fast. Keep uploaded man, your my favorite go kart TH-camr by far.
Doh! picked one up and in 3 weeks the bearing seems to have seized up already. the sprocket to the jackshaft is locked while everything else jiggles. I contacted Coleman today to see if they honor anything. as far as fixing the flaw, I'm thinking of ordering 2 more of the drive spindles from the drive shaft and bolting them onto the axle in hopes to space it enough to bypass the jackshaft and be direct chain to CVT.
We got ours a month ago, and same thing, we do go hard on this little kart, at least the parts or ultra cheap from Coleman powersports! I think we will pay more in shipping than for parts!
That would be cool if Colman put that version into production. RBG series. Be like the Shelby of go karts. Have a limited run of them. Hint hint Colman. 👍👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👌👌
I hope the young guy learned from that roll over to keep his hands inside. Under different conditions he might have broken his arm getting it pinned between the roll bar and the ground. Wouldn't be much fun. Other then that it looks like a cool cart and he will have lots of fun rippin it around.
Awesome video. Hard to find mods for this specific model. Would love see front suspension hardware/spring mods. Are bigger engines cheaper, or is it more practical to mod the stocker? Is a 212 Predator a better starting base? How about drive train upgrades such as utilizing a centrifugal clutch with 1 to 1 gears from the crank to the jack shaft with final gearing from jack shaft to axle? Your recommendations on larger carbs, cams, whatever! I know that covers like....everything, so thanks again. Your vids are a major help always. My KT196 already has 26lb valve springs, cone intake, step tube header, minor jetting, and gov delete. I realize your clone predator mods cover some of this, but I would like to see this cart go from boring to fun. Stock, the low-end is horrid. It won't even spin the tires and I cant tell if it's because of the weight of the cart/passengers combined with low H-P, or if it is a crappy belt system. I have never owned a two seat kart with a live axle, let alone a cart with alive axle, disc brakes. My only kart was an vintage cart from the 70's. Subbed BTW and keep it up.
Hay u didn't show what the new valve cover looked like when the engine was running that's the main thing I wanted to see. Watch your videos all the time haven't missed one in over a year and a half loved all of them.
A lot of Kt196 owners and kids would love an idea to address that jackshaft chain issue? I have seen the bearings and chain be replaced as a unit, but could we figure a way to make it a single chain? Seems to be an issue with many families karts. Half links appear to be too short.
it seems the only way to do this is to move axle drive sprocket over so it is directly under clutch sprocket, then cut the other BS off, with this mod you can still use the bolts to tighten the chain, this will be a winter project
@@robertpowers7856 Awesome, I figured something like this should be able to happen but I dont have the cart in front of me yet. I was also figuring to order jack chain and sprocket as needed. I also found BMI.com upgraded wheel hub/ball joints too. Thanks, any updates would be appreciated. Thinking maybe sleeve spacers on the motor shaft maybe. Once I get the kart next week I can start planning. I am seeing this issue pop up over 4 years worth of questions with no confirmed answer so this gives me a goal to work on.
Hey red beard just an idea there is an app called track addict where you can set up a custom course and see all the numbers from acceleration to deceleration pitch and roll and g force. It would be pretty cool to get it and compare all your go karts mini bikes and other vehicles on the course. Just an idea I hope you look into it
Red Beard's Garage thanks for the reply I downloaded it the other day and plan on using it while riding the 1985 Honda atc 200s and the go kart and maybe a dirt bike or something and see how each stack up. Would you ever do a meet at an atv part. I don't know where you are from but I'm from Cleveland Tn and I'm wanting to go to windrock and would have a blast if you had a meet there
To tension that Jack shaft, isn't that what the two gold bolts are for they move the motor mounting plate up n down to put tension on the jack shaft chain
Just a small question on the jack shaft chain could you adjust the rear motor mount up to take slack from the chain? Or do they not pivot I just saw that in a viedo and was wondering or does it interfer with the brake caliper when you adjust the rear mount up sir just wondering I've been looking at different karts for my kids thank you in advance sir
You and the cup washers. But Its actually safer, no sharp bolt heads to catch on kids clothes or skin. Sick little cart! You find it cheaper/easier to swap to the duromax with ignition, than adding charging coil to Predator?
Would you be kind enough to provide instructions on how to wire everything? Been waiting for video. Looking forward to putting accessory switch on my kart. Thanks in advance.
1st of all, dig your vids... I got my 6 yr old son this same kart, but the previous owner replaced the engine with a Hemi predator 212. So after many vids, a flywheel of a non hemi will not work. Wrist restraints like the Honda Odyssey uses. Broken arms cost $$ and they hurt. He took it like a man. GJ

great video. love the attention to detail...awesome. your dimple is precious.

Yeah there are multiple different kits you can use to put in an electric starter
eBay has a lot of them
I'm a new subscriber..And man you're Amazing how in Gods name did you learn how to do all this..Rock on
Just going out there and doing it to be honest
I love this video. I did everything he did except used a predator with electric start
Saw one of these at Walmart. Nearly bought it, but skipped it that time. Came back 2 days later to buy it, and it was gone. They don't have anymore.
you can buy em on amazon
The light bar was nice
Ill be boxing my sons brand new NEVER been ridin coleman and sending it your way for this build lol nice vid hope i can takle this upgrade lol
I would love to see you guys restore a classic Honda Odyssey single seater from the 80's.

Before the video started the Ad got me, new ryobi light in my future today.
Just upgraded my 10 year old to a Ck100s. An electric start is needed big time as I work midnight and he has to wait for me to wake up to ride.
Id like to see some more of the cr80 trike with the new reeds.love the channel keep up the good work
Any idea's how to get better grip? Larger wheels/tires available for this model?
I may try 15x5x6 front and 19x7x8 in rear when needed.

That tensioner only tightens the chain to the axle from the jack shaft. There is no way to tighten the actual jack shaft chain
Red Beard's Garage oh okay thanks that makes sense and another idea how about you make a racing mower
@@RedBeardsGarage How can we create an idea to fix this? Seeing it as the Achilles heel of this model, but 2014 model may be a single chain design.

clear valve cover ?? thats awesome man, i gotta get me one some time ( if there cheap enought lol)
Use my discount code: red beard when checking out ;)
Great video!! Thank tou
Nice man.
Red Beard, do you think you'll get around to making those full "How To" videos on all these performance mods? great videos man.

Looking for a taller sprocket/more teeth for the rear axle. Thinking about 30 teeth, the current sprocket is Chain size: #420
Tooth count: 25T
Outside diameter: 4.16" (106 mm)
Cener hole diameter:1.73" (440 mm)
Mounting holes: 4
Mounting hole distance across: 2.63" (67 mm)
Performance kit is missing as well ugh where did you get the battery box by chance I love the sealed idea.

move axle sprocket over, so it is directly under clutch sprocket, then you will still be able to tighten it with the current setup and cut the othe Bs jack shafts off, this will be a winter project
