At this point, if Thermy had to do a move on creep only challenge, I'm convinced he'd use overlords to spit creep, dropperlords to put units on them and somehow win without a single creep tumor. 😂
The reason the hydra drops look op is because I swear there are like 3 zergs in the world that realize zerg can make dropperlords so most GMs don't even think about it existing.
Oh yeah constant nydus is like every other game in diamond 4v4 and it's pretty effective if you're good at dropping changelings and what not at that level since it's hard to watch an entire 4v4 map constantly. I guess the thought is that you might as well nydus if you have to get a lair either way and then you can teleport in and out as many units as you want. Dropperlords seems more effective in some ways as most GMs would catch the nydus building on the minimap @@greenlitlleman
Everyday after work I cant wait to get back home, relax a bit and watch Thermy play some starcraft, (I often even fall asleep to the godlike commentary) Thank you for the XL episode today its gonna be a good night for me ❤ 😂
"Zerg is so hard, you need so much APM for your macro and then you need to build three different unit types and two types of caster to win a game!" Meanwhile, as if it's early, pre-Brood War StarCraft: "A-move Hydras for GG. Super top secret strategy!"
The funniest thing about every video with a Harstem matchup is my brain filling in the Harstem exasperated reactions in the background to your shenanigans
A huge part of it is no one plays like uThermal does, because numerically, his builds are almost always easily shut down or super hard-counterable, at least in theory. The real skill is in the execution. uThermal's builds are almost always nonsense to anyone playing against them, because who in their right mind would play them? So people basically end up getting zero practice against them. There's a huge difference in your reaction the first time you see a build, and the second time you see a build, especially in the GM+ level. And that "What the hell is even going on?" kind of chaos is a significant part of uThermal's style. There are absolutely pros with better micro, pros with better macro, pros who can basically read your mind, but when uThermal pulls the sc2 equivalent of Aoki's "Look Away" technique th-cam.com/video/qBodBXiJiOM/w-d-xo.html (link for example) complete with pro-level micro, macro, and reads, and you just get tilted super easily. The most important part, I think, is that sc2 isn't about _reactions_ it's about _predictions_ . The best way to defend a drop isn't to see the drop coming and then send your marines or stalkers or queens or whatever to go counter, it's to have marines or stalkers _intercept the drop_ and _already be in position to fight back_ .
To add to this, uThermal's build somewhat relies on his opponents being completely off-kilter the entire game, and you can very clearly see in the games that he loses that it's typically from him getting hard countered by someone who DOES get the read and understand what to do. Genuine pro-tier players would win against him significantly more often than you'd expect from his youtube videos - not that he's faking or sandbagging for cheap wins and hiding his losses from us, because he does show us plenty of losses and we get to SEE his MMR in every video - but the truth is that his playstyle simply isn't viable for tournament play. I'm sure he knows he's a monster on the ladder, but this is why he retired from professional play.
To add to these other comments; its about the mindset as much as the situation. Keeping a level mind is crucial at these speeds of play as tilting or getting distracted is a great way to fumble the ball. Thermy’s learned a lot from his pro play. He’s said in the past getting tilted is one of the fastest ways for him to make mistakes and it shows that he’s really done work on relaxing during games. It’s much less stressful too just being an ape on ladder, which shows in how much he loves playing this game. Man absolutely knows he’s a ladder demon. Without a doubt.
I love the idea of 15 empty medivacs flying into the opponents base while attacking the front soooooo much....Wish I had the APM to pull it off. Win or lose it would be funny!
When I started first watching your channel, it was T only and I thought it would be fun watching you play Z, just the way you looked at the game. Fun to see you play Z and P in series like these.
Wow Thank you so much for the content! I want to see warp prisom/ stalker pushes. Use the warp prisom to continually reinforce... Triple expland start into blink stalker raids into warp prisom "drops" when you hit ten gates... you attack and never stop attacking
Hamhoteph IV himself gifted us with an honor to present himself to our eyes in a nastiest form of all he posesses, in a form of the turtly scared little Terran! What a beautiful time to be alive!
Cheese idea. I call it the bomberlord. Early game zergling harass/suppression/zergling drops. Get dropper lords with speed and plus 1 melee then just carpet bombing mineral lines with banes. Follow-up with a big zergling drop in the natural/main at the same time as you sneak in and ambushing the opponent’s defending army with roaches that have burrowed movement and the dropped zerglings. Idea being you cut off retreat with roaches then surround/sandwich with zerglings.
I always wondered why we never see hydras, roaches feel so slow and low damage in comparison. Love the hydras... look at that attack speed, can bit air too. Such a versatile unit. Paired with dropperlords it just feels like terran marine + medivac, this is so funny
There is nothing i would have liked to see more then thermy wrecking GMs with Hydras!! I'd love to see you push for the upgrades faster just to show off the hydras.... also hydras / chracklings with upgrades would be amazing!!!!
i think it would be good idea , when the enemy has their air defense setup , that maybe you can add 5-7 overlords empty ones at the front so they get focused fire, and then have the real overlords behind it to drop the units.
Love the content as always. It's always enjoy watching you play and enjoy your comentary. I was hoping you could maybe do an all unit review. Even the campaign and coop ones. It would be fun to see you play coop for a change of pace. Maybe try some of the really hard mutations.
I think mass archon would be interesting. A good, extremely gas heavy unit with short attack range. Some protoss shenanigans could occur with mass prism strats to deal with the range.
I was thinking "please marc, spread some creep" and then immedietly throws a couple creep tumors as a joke, I mean talk about some caster timing right there!
Probably a better comparison for the cost of a Droplord is the cost of converting a ling into a baneling. It's conceivable that two extra banelings could make a difference in an engagement at that point in the game, but I wouldn't call it likely.
Mass Hydralisk using a two has opener is pretty strong, cause setup a swift opener that catches other races by surprise. If they are iot prepared, and lost too much eco to zerg early then it's gg.
Wait, how long ago was this match? I thought I saw Harstem talk about this match a few days ago and also that he talked to you afterward and he took your strategy here.
What unit should I do next? 🧐
Also Hydralisks are literally the greatest :D
Have a nice weekend everyone!
Tempests
Mass dt
Medivacs with the energy efficiency upgrade!
Void rays ;)
Not exactly a unit challenge, but how about supply blocking the enemy multiple times? Or gas harass only?
For those who haven't seen it, Harstem made a video where he stole this build after getting beaten in this video. 🙂
😂😂😂
I know, he looks at Marks cheese and can’t believe it then tries it and thinks it OP or IMBA. Mark should charge Harstem Coaching Fees.
I mean copying Thermy's build is the equivalent of writing up his own IIIODIS form, no? 😂
Thermy, this kind of collaborations make a lot of fun.
You make the best cheese
Seeing Thermy spread creep and joy at the same time to the viewers is lovely.
In total, in one hour of grandmaster level Zerg play, did uThermal make more creep tumors than can be counted on one hand? :P
@ThueJanusKristensen Bronze tier creep plays against GMs, for him it's not even a challenge. 😂
moar hydras
wrrr
At this point, if Thermy had to do a move on creep only challenge, I'm convinced he'd use overlords to spit creep, dropperlords to put units on them and somehow win without a single creep tumor. 😂
The reason the hydra drops look op is because I swear there are like 3 zergs in the world that realize zerg can make dropperlords so most GMs don't even think about it existing.
Hydra drops and nydus are pretty common at the lower leagues, especially in 3x3 and 4x4.
Hahaha so true
Oh yeah constant nydus is like every other game in diamond 4v4 and it's pretty effective if you're good at dropping changelings and what not at that level since it's hard to watch an entire 4v4 map constantly. Love this longer focused video format. And perfect units for first pick.
man, uthermal is so fun to watch. never knew he was so charismatic. life after sc2 will be very successful for him.
This dutchman is on fire, often :)))
Are hydras snakes?
I love Marc’s commentary so much I can literally see the game in my head while he narrates when I’m sleepy and just close my eyes to the vid
Everyday after work I cant wait to get back home, relax a bit and watch Thermy play some starcraft, (I often even fall asleep to the godlike commentary)
Thank you for the XL episode today its gonna be a good night for me ❤ 😂
Thank you for playing other races and different strats, Its such a relief with your explanations as you play.
It was so satisfying to see you tear harstem apart. He's had a lot of victories on this channel.
"Zerg is so hard, you need so much APM for your macro and then you need to build three different unit types and two types of caster to win a game!"
Meanwhile, as if it's early, pre-Brood War StarCraft: "A-move Hydras for GG. Super top secret strategy!"
26:54 when you left that overlord behind it killed me. Haha.
Happy to see more Hydras from you. They're very strong in the new patch
Another fantastic video by our man, Thermy! The only thing that sucks about this video is that its only an hour long.
Thermy really does seem to have the most fun playing Zerg these days... its good to see
The funniest thing about every video with a Harstem matchup is my brain filling in the Harstem exasperated reactions in the background to your shenanigans
i appreciate the attitude and energy you have, you make it feel easy to follow along
It’s funny how surprised he always is about him winning. Does he genuinely not know how good he is? :D

I love the idea of "1 hour of medivacs" *empty medivacs flys in*
lol
Le sigh 😔
Yes Always dropping nothing but mini heart attacks... this is personal
I love the idea of 15 empty medivacs flying into the opponents base while attacking the front soooooo much....Wish I had the APM to pull it off. Win or lose it would be funny!
Make your opponent resign without even fighting
trying to learn sc2 in 2023 and cant say how helpful finding ur channel was. good content keep it up
Christmas came early. 1 hour of joy
1 hour of glorious Hydra combat.
When I started first watching your channel, it was T only and I thought it would be fun watching you play Z, just the way you looked at the game. Fun to see you play Z and P in series like these.
Another satisfying episode of uThermal playing with his food
Wow Thank you so much for the content!

Triple expland start into blink stalker raids into warp prisom "drops" when you hit ten gates... you attack and never stop attacking
What a content machine!
I loved the Hamster quote: beating Grandmasters at 500 words per minute!!!!
I really don't understand why Terrans aren't throwing up sensor towers as soon as possible. SO valuable!
It “cost too much”
it's so freaking fun watching you play and listening to you commentate, thank you
Hamhoteph IV himself gifted us with an honor to present himself to our eyes in a nastiest form of all he posesses, in a form of the turtly scared little Terran! What a beautiful time to be alive!
that zvz with hydras with speed and range kiting roaches was hilarious
That was some crazy funny strategies! x)
Thanks for the fun and the hydras! ^^
Literally my favorite unit from the og starcraft, so love to see some sc2 love for em
How funny, I just commented the other day on your video how I never see zergs make Hydras. Now I get a whole hour of it!
Really appreciate that Marc coordinated the colour of his force with the colour of his jumper 👌
I really feel like the 14 minute creep tumor timing attack has a lot of potential, you should explore that further.
1 hour, felt like 10 mins bro. Love your videos. Watch every one of them and you get the Thumbs up bro! Thank you for the amazing content as always!
It is so amazing watching your zerg, you play it like a terran which throws them off their game.
Cheese idea. I call it the bomberlord. Early game zergling harass/suppression/zergling drops. Get dropper lords with speed and plus 1 melee then just carpet bombing mineral lines with banes. imagine thermal spreading the toumor... even the idea gives me chills.
I always wondered why we never see hydras, roaches feel so slow and low damage in comparison. Love the hydras... look at that attack speed, can bit air too. Such a versatile unit. Paired with dropperlords it just feels like terran marine + medivac, this is so funny

Hydras dropping out of overlords and immediately starting to spit their spikes look so commando
hydras are essentially zerg marines and uthermal is making them look just as insane as good players make marines look
I think mass archon would be interesting. A good, extremely gas heavy unit with short attack range. Some protoss shenanigans could occur with mass prism strats to deal with the range.
I'd love to see lurkers next :D
Wow, this sounds awesome!
As for unit I want to see mass mutas
haha that walling zerg. Somebody hurt that poor fella
I've got a challenge idea: Creep spread =D maybe your units can't move off creep, or maybe no attacks until you've covered x% of the map in creep.
1 h uThermal video on Friday. Best way to start weekend
Normal zerg: I forced an allin and defended it, time to make more drones
Thermy: I forced an allin and defended it, time to make more lings
I would like to see a combo high templars, DTs and Archons. Even mass archons (non drop) going through front door.
A wash is breaking even or canceling out. The word you're looking for is a wipe as in 'wiped out'
I was thinking "please marc, spread some creep" and then immedietly throws a couple creep tumors as a joke, I mean talk about some caster timing right there!
Hydralisk is my favorite-looking unit, you are really making them pop
Made my day! Thank you!
Probably a better comparison for the cost of a Droplord is the cost of converting a ling into a baneling. It's conceivable that two extra banelings could make a difference in an engagement at that point in the game, but I wouldn't call it likely.
If u menaged to play this good Zerg and spread creep u officially a Zerg
I was waiting for this, I love mass Hydra !
Great to see that BroodWars strats are still viable these days ;D
You need to call the series "powerhour thunderdome"
Do Hellbat next, don’t make it only Hellbat, but make them the main portion of the army.
I wonder if you can add on burrow so the hydras can heals while out of combat?
Much like marine medivac combo 😆
Bro the title alone is worth a click 😂
Been playing SC for how many years and didnt know you could kite with Hydras?
Im legitimently surprised
I didn't know I needed this but here I am
That was a great vid. I always like you playing harstem
This guy deserves to be an announcer!!
I'd immediately buy him xd
42:24 Yeah Mark, too bad your build planning is going to waste in the 1 hour of building hydralisks video 😂
Haha harsdem is also using this build 😂
An hour of pure gold
Dude I love the thumbnail lololol
"Creep? What's that?"
The zerg in game 2 who got a spine for no reason is suffering from cheese PTSD. Source: takes one to know one :P
you joke about creep tumors, but it's for your own good. Being able to see the entire map is nice... oh well, one day.
The surround at 12:20
Surround from 3 sides plus airdrop WHAAATTT? NO. NO! You are not allowed to do that!
Love the thumbnail
ty for the worker counter tip
So insane how this works for you. Protoss in diamond has 4 colossi out at 9 minutes.
Dropping units while flying looks amazing.. I wish I can do that..
1 hour?!? So lucky thank you Mark!
watching you play zerg is the most entertaining
I think uThermal should try that lurker viper worm WITH 6 spines 😄
Now Terrans will know how it feels to go against mass high DPS ranged units
that (1st) ZvZ game was actually pretty nuts ngl 🔥
Hydra-lisk-bane Is best combination of units back from wings of liberty 🗽
Mass Hydralisk using a two has opener is pretty strong, cause setup a swift opener that catches other races by surprise. If they are iot prepared, and lost too much eco to zerg early then it's gg.
Why did you tortured that terran for too long 😂😂
Like the mono unit challenges of olde.
That's how people always know how many workers they have?!?!?!?!? How is that not part of the tutorial? :P Thank you!
brooooo that was amazing
happy birthday for the other day thermal~!
I always thought hydras was a zerg core unit but I rarely see them anymore
Thanks for content!
God bless you uthermal. 👍✝️
Wait, how long ago was this match? I thought I saw Harstem talk about this match a few days ago and also that he talked to you afterward and he took your strategy here.
I can’t watch winterstarcraft anymore now that I’m hooked on uthermal videos. It’s just not the same
Yes! Harstem wall has been breached! Finally)
