I'm now starting to realize how easy I've had it. I should find someone to share my first save file with. See if they like the base design I came up with. It was my first playthrough of Factorio, but I came in with Satisfactory experience, so it's not a horrible spaghetti mess. Well you just have to keep in mind with all the new buildings and productivity research, a 2k spm base is now a fairly small base. Don’t even bother thinking about scalability, just make some spaghetti and allow yourself to be okay with not having any room to expand your base, and then once you have all the late game tech and quality research finished, make some scalable builds for making materials with quality, and then start making your final scalable base somewhere else
my future self will hate my current self even more than my current self hates my past self. one look at my base will also get everyone's past present and futures to hate me if they ever try to expand from it
Appreciate you waiting a while to put this out, I was expecting a lot more to come out a lot closer to release / EA. As you mentioned building the same red chip build over and over again, you might enjoy the design the speedrunners use for red chips and blue science. Probably their steel smelters as well :)
One tip I found useful: Have a logistics group for each "Ship from planet X to planet Y". Set it on ships that go from X to Y, the Cargo Landing Pad on planet Y, and buffer chests on planet X near your rocket silos.
11:41 "BITERS could be here" he thought, "I've never been in this biome before. There could be BITERS anywhere." The cool wind felt good against his modular armor. "I HATE BITERS" he thought. Automation reverberated his entire tank, making it pulsate even as the $9 Omega-3 circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of behemoths after dark. "With a tank, you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud.

Thanks for the video dosh, keep 'em coming.
Me and some friends were playing Space Age together. Two of us got ourselves stranded on separate worlds as we didn't realize how bad the asteroids would be. I got stuck on trash planet for awhile lol.
Thanks for this video. I’m a factorio newb and I’m having trouble figuring out the ratios, I’m coming from satisfactory where it felt a lot clearer on how to make setups optimal

Thanks for the space age upload. Was really looking forward to this! Only thing I was surprised at was you didnt realize you could flip the pipes on the electromagnetic plants to make one continuous pipe connection without needing aditional pipes

The heart is willing, and the mind is keen, but the skills are deficient. Still having a blast though! Space Age is amazing
Thanks to you, Dosh! I've learned a lot from you to build better in Factorio, and still have a long to go. Without having full time option and as much experience and I'm on Vulcanus and Fulgora in the same time you bit the whole thing, and oh boy those are fun. I'd love to hear your opinions on other interplanetary production chains (right now Vulcanus assists Nauvis with underproduction of copper), would love to see more from you on the topic. And other games, you know.

1:05:22 You can actually daisychain the EM plant fluid connections like with boilers. No pipes needed, just mirror every other EM plant. Took me a while to realise as well because it just feels to convenient to be real.
might be good to note that piercing shells for the tank are incredible in the early game now. they straight 1shot nests for a while, as well as any other nest/worm/biter/spitter that might be in their path.
I love how how you chose NONE of the solutions I chose in my first playthrough. I didn´t realise I had alternatives in the first place. Now excuse me while I completely overhaul my Fulgora abomination. Thanks for the video.
Awesome vid! Just a quick tip: You can use a single underground to take off half a belt of items - just rotate it after placing and it spits them right out! No need for weird routing like at 15:08
There's a way to make agricultural towers plant seeds always, but only harvest on demand. Have two sets of towers, one for harvesting, one for planting. Planting towers take seeds in, and have the output blocked by spoilage. Harvesting towers have no seeds, and unblocked outputs, so they only harvest when turned on by circuits.
Finally! I have waited for that since release. That was a masterpiece. I think I will get some hours out of that and make my mega base with this juicy new railroad mechanic. Just make railroads go over everything and only let them come down for stations. No downside. They improved them also? Omg I need to play it.
I have been waiting for this, great job! Really felt the downside of having to wait for that unholy amount of time you put into making a video, but as you did the all work, I'd say it was worth it.
I think spoilers for Factorio aren’t a huge deal, it’s not like there’s much story to speak of. And there’s a lot of different ways to do almost anything in the expansion so it’s not like Dosh shows the only way to do things (exceptions might be the space platforms which all pretty much have to work the same way, with just some different layouts)
Watching dosh building these factories is so interesting then I remember how I built my factories and have a panic attack at how inefficient my designs are. Excited to see what he does next in space age.
I love you Dosh and I can't wait to watch this, but you uploaded this way too early!!! I don't want to spoiler myself, I will check this out when I finish my own run!!!!
"this is what we get for being too nice to the players" yea that's crazy i think this quote pretty much sums up what i was feeling when i watched my ship that i spent the like 100 hours working towards run out of ammo right at the end of the asteroid field to beat the game and i couldn't be bothered to run it again. Crazy to me that me a casual player gets punished for what professional factorio players can do. As i kind of figured dosh was going to make the challenge look pretty easy but i ended up having to install mods just to want to finish the game me and my brother and a friend all got burnt out by the time we got to aquilo and were just kinda done with how tedious the new planets after volcanus seemed. And this isnt bashing you dosh i appreciate your videos im just kinda frustrated to how the progression in this expansion felt to casual players like me and my brother.
Gleba is the best, looking forward to whatever you have planned for a real Gleba base. About railguns "I wouldn't think about defending your base with these, that's like taking out an ant hill with C4" have you not had the joy of Big Stompas yet? Railguns are the only thing that will bring one down without needing to rebuild large sections of walls every time one shows up.. Without Railguns I found the best way to stop them is to have spread out turret islands which just limits their damage.
@@DoshDoshington Correction, quality Behemoth Stompers! Dosh, I have a piece for potential "Can you beat Space Age when every planet is a deathworld" video, look up "Evolution Technology" mod. Biters and Pentapods can research and build quality bases. Have fun!
Tesla Towers + Rocket Launchers handle them very well. The Tesla Tower slows them to a crawl so your other weapons have much more time to destroy them.

DoshDoshington pulling through just when i need him for a 3 hour car drive for thanksgiving
Hope you have a nice thanksgiving yourself dosh! Your videos are my go to for when im on long flights/drives
Watching this is like watching a master craftsman at work. Simply stunning. Now to do what you did 100x slower and with 100x more jank
You know it's a good day when Dosh releases a new video :D
How are you Dosh?
I didnt watch any space age content until you uploaded. I started watching you and started playing factorio becouse of you. So you will be the first one i will watch play the dlc.
Loved the video 😊
1:05:22 You can actually daisychain the EM plant fluid connections like with boilers. No pipes needed, just mirror every other EM plant. Took me a while to realise as well because it just feels to convenient to be real.
lets gooooooo !!!!! been wating to watch your video on space age
might be good to note that piercing shells for the tank are incredible in the early game now. they straight 1shot nests for a while, as well as any other nest/worm/biter/spitter that might be in their path.
And there it is. Guess that's my night sorted then. Only just starting it now but have to assume this will be incredible as always.
I love how how you chose NONE of the solutions I chose in my first playthrough. I didn´t realise I had alternatives in the first place. Now excuse me while I completely overhaul my Fulgora abomination. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for thanksgiving posting! Give me something to watch while I'm ruminating
Awesome vid! Just a quick tip: You can use a single underground to take off half a belt of items - just rotate it after placing and it spits them right out! No need for weird routing like at 15:08
Sweet another dosh video. I still have no clue about this game but enjoy watching you build
Been waiting for this upload. Thank you Dosh!
I love the "random is funny" blip at 16:59.
I swear you always come when ur most needed. Look forward to watching this 8 times in a row 🎉😂❤
That's one small step for a engineer, one giant leap for automation
I just realised the freezing mechanic will soon lead to Factorio Frostpunk mod
I'm very excited to watch this, especially seein your trains with the new rails, wanna beat the game myself first before i spoil myself on it
I have been waiting for this, great job! Really felt the downside of having to wait for that unholy amount of time you put into making a video, but as you did the all work, I'd say it was worth it.
YEEESS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. ON THANKSGIVING TOO. IM THANKFUL FOR DOSH AND HIS MASOCHISM!
The one video I'm unsure if I should watch it, since I've yet to beat space age myself :(
I think spoilers for Factorio aren’t a huge deal, it’s not like there’s much story to speak of.
"this is what we get for being too nice to the players"
yea that's crazy i think this quote pretty much sums up what i was feeling when i watched my ship that i spent the like 100 hours working towards run out of ammo right at the end of the asteroid field to beat the game and i couldn't be bothered to run it again.
I'm really liking the Mood Lights idea. I'm definetely implementing that myself.
Maybe when I play with the behemoth stompers mod
@@DoshDoshington Correction, quality Behemoth Stompers! Dosh, I have a piece for potential "Can you beat Space Age when every planet is a deathworld" video, look up "Evolution Technology" mod. Biters and Pentapods can research and build quality bases. Have fun!
Tesla Towers + Rocket Launchers handle them very well. The Tesla Tower slows them to a crawl so your other weapons have much more time to destroy them.
Water based artillery. You don't have to deal with stompers if you kill the nests
