Laguna Seca doesn't allow Decibels over 93 on certain days like these. If you go over the sound meter the first time you get a black flag and have to sit out the first session. I forgot what the second penalty is. But the Third Penalty you are banned from the track provider. And thanks!
Nice riding man! Didn’t see 1 person overtake you?? Saw you overtake Keanu on a big Duc?? Your R6 is movin’! What, you have NOS on there or what?! Great riding👍🏽👍🏽 Laguna looks amazing. I ride Suzuka 1x/month in JP👍🏽
Yeah, I haven't had an issue at Laguna. With Z2TrackDays they ask you have an extra tether so I have it secured 2 ways on my helmet. Not sure about other track day providers though.
Hi what brand trailer do you use to transport your bike? That's cool, I never seen one with hydraulic jack built in before. Would love to get one. Thanks.
Thanks man! My current settings are below. (some used in this vid, more used in my Sonoma track day). I was using ND filters here, I believe ND16 for the afternoon. Add the histogram to your GoPro for better exposure gauging via Labs! - 5.3k (scaled down to 4k in Premier) - Linear or Superview (I forget which focal length) - 24fps - 1/48 Shutter - 10-bit - 180 bitrate (GoPro Labs) - Flat Color Profile - 100-400/800 ISO (varies) - Histogram (Go Pro Labs) -Stabilization either off or standard (still playing with it)
Thanks! It was a ~92db day and everyone was popping the sound meter on the first day that they threatened to shut down the track. There was no passing between turn 5&6. So on the 2nd day I was curious what the sound on my bike was passing the sound booth.
@@TacoedBars Interesting… I didn’t realize they even kept track of sound levels. Do you have a DB killer to put in your exhaust in case your over whatever the limit is or…? How does that work?
I’d forgotten about that rule at Laguna Seca. It’s been over 10 years since I did any racing (CCS and WERA), although never at this track. Had a 07 GSXR-750 with an Arrow exhaust, etc, but was never certain if they would have allowed me on that track for a trackday, unless I switched to stock exhaust system. Pain in the rear, but that’s how they are. Corkscrew looks like quite a bit of fun, but Turn 1 has to be scary the first few times.
I specifically came to the comments because that's all I could think about that entire video. lol Would be such a cool "weekend gig" to just do for him.
how do you get into these track days? I live in central California so this is doable for me. I just dont know where to start and how to actually get out there
Google track day organizations that do Laguna seca. Buy a track day and reserve your spot. Show up with your bike. Make sure your bike is in spec though. Check the chain tension, breaks, etc. some organizations require safety wire for the oil drain plug. Make sure you have a full body suit, boots, gauntlet gloves, and a helmet. You should be set.
I've used both Z2 Track Days and Pacific Track Time, and they're great. PTT does track days at Buttonwillow and Streets of Willow which is closer to you probably. There's also TrackDaz, haven't done a track day with them yet. Find a track day provider that has the day and track you want then buy your spot. Ari and Zach from Revzilla have a fun episode where they take $1000 bikes to Sonoma. The other reply has good info too. If you don't want to commit to spending $1k+ on all the gear yet, some providers also rent gear out for good prices! Once you have everything set and ready, rent a motorcycle trailer from U-Hual (only $20ish) and head to the track! Ride Safe!
Thank you! I try different settings every track day. Day 1 was 60fps 1/60th, day 2 was 30fps 1/60th both w/ regular hypersmoooth. My Sonoma video was 24fps at 1/48th no hypersmooth and it's shaky but the track is bumpy too.
@TacoedBars I believe the general rule is your shutter speed is supposed to be set at 1/2x your framerate. So if recording at 60, use 1/120 or if at 30fps, use 1/60.
@rccoul Thanks I'm aware of that rule too! I have the Gopro Hero12 now and when I have it set to 30fps with 1/60 + Hypersmooth, I get a lot of weird blurs while my footage is stabilized.
