I think you're going to see the accelerator pedal hesitancy or hysteresis (sluggishness), more and more as a setting in EV's as it serves to greatly extend tire life. IMHO, the issue with accelerated tire wear in EV's has a lot to do with having instant torque in a heavy vehicle. This is largely mitigated by placing a bit of lag in the accelerator response. Some EV's already do this to a smaller extent with the ECO or Chill modes.

For the first time in my life, I’ve fallen in love with a 🚗 I mean I’ve been into cars my whole life. Since I was a young kid. Learned to drive young. But I’ve never had a true “dream car”. But THIS spec 😳! ❤❤ Agree - definitely the carbon fiber brakes. I have never wanted a pink car. In fact, for most of my significant number of years I would have steadfastly refused to drive a pink car. But this body exceeds expectations in this opalescent pink. It’s like Barbie but in pink leather corset and pink fishnets and metal studded black boots. And that interior. 😳 That is the sexiest interior I have ever seen. The perfect lipstick color. This is the car I didn’t know I needed. I need this car. I Will never have one, unless I hit the powerball. But I have a dream. Thank you Kyle, Thank you. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 OMG I would just drive around all the time. ❤❤❤

just budget for tires same as you would do for a Gas car boys and girls. rotate and replace often. as you see, there is NO ESCAPE from maintenance and running costs. and lying to ones self and pretending it doesn't exist is not going to work out (adulthood eventually catches up). also remember, people can see the CONTRADICTION that you're trying to play the role of "Billionaire Cheapskate" while simultaneously driving around in vehicles costing $50,000 to a $150,000 while paying exorbitant insurance on top of this. no you can't see it, but others can.

In my opinion from your driving of this specific car, I think it’s beautiful. I can’t afford o but if I could, I would definitely look into buying or leasing one. I noticed how quiet the car was. I liked the red interior so everyone has their own choices on colours and designs. 900 horsepower should be more than adequate for the majority of drivers I’m thinking. Geely is a huge conglomerate and they seem to be smart enough to let the original people design and do their thing as long as they’re profitable. I like this Lotus.👍👍🇨🇦

I like the yellow colour as well, which is called "Hethel Yellow" as a nod to the town in Norfolk, England in which the old WW2 bomber hanger where all Lotus cars used to be built exists. I toured that facility back in the summer of 1993. The cars may not have been of the very best quality but 100% of the workers there certainly were. I am certainly rooting for the Eletre to succeed so that the plans for the second Lotus electric sports car, to be built at Hethel in 2025, come to fruition.

The best part of the video was right at the beginning where Alyssa was filming from the back seat and the sloshing of the pink drink from one side of the cup to the other when Kyle pinned the car into one hairpin turn after another really showed off the G-forces in the car. One thing I would suggest is that car reviewers stop justifying SUV/Cross-over style cars as "not a real Lotus, but they are necessary to build the real sports cars". Porsche has proven that "the real Porsches that everyone wants to buy are SUV/Cross-overs". The "sports cars" are actually the outliers that only a very few want. Times have changed...

My brother has a RAV4 with a blue to black look and always thought it looked cool, even if the RAV looks really awkward designed. It has the front of a truck, the doors are thin and flimsy, and the back just kinda looks bland. Still laugh that a $37K car still has a vynl steering wheel in the modern day. Even my Prius has at least a fake leather wheel.

  • @yvesvandenbroek6055

I’ve driven the S, consumption on the same track as my iX50 was 23 kwh for the BMW (22 inch) and 29 kwh (23inch) for the Lotus I will change my order to the base model if possible otherwise I’ll cancel it. Another downside, only 80kw DC converter to 400v, so slow charging at Tesla points … They need to have a better handle on consumption, I want this car for road-tripping as it has more space than the iX, but I did a trip of a 1000km with the iX recently, and only needed 2 chargers of 35 minutes (breakfast and lunch) driving 130 to 145km/h consumption on average over the whole trip was 23kwh/100km … So Kyle, do some consumption tests when this car is available …. I guess 300 miles on the 70 test should be possible but could very well be just out of reach. From a driving perspective both iX and Eletre are close, but the B&W system is better, mainly because there is no EQ in the Lotus, so I can tune it better to my personal taste.

The company itself is British but it’s 51% owned by Geely

Geely is a huge automotive group and this Lotus is a cherry on the cake of European brands owned by company including Volvo/Polestar. It is only one Chinese company with real market penetration in the USA.

Nice car and review. But yet another EV starting at a high price ($85k+). Both EV and ICE vehicle inventory is piling up on dealer lots. The high end EV market is over saturated with too many vehicles chasing too few buyers.

I know it’s spelled different but could there be a trademark conflict with Buick trademarking the Electra Name? I know other cars have had issues with others having a close to the same name.

I like the interior. The exterior reminds me of a lotus meets a BZ4X meets a Nissan ariya. Not my fave, but certainly not the worst.

Thanks Kyle. Is it the video presentation or me. The stance looks off to me. Almost looks like the wheels need a bit more offset. They look too tucked into the body. Thoughts??

Track mode should be the fastest around a track. So if in track mode you have tire spin or it upsets the car around a corner then it would be slower around a track. My ICE car is setup the same way. Track mode is for the fastest lap times and Sport mode is for fun on the streets.

I love the design of the car, but as you said, you should see it on real to be able to juge. For me, I ordered one and It’ll be delivered soon. PS: I live in Europe, Belgium

Taking a British company known for making light weight sports cars and then making a Lotus-themed SUV is such a Chinese thing to do.

Stunning vehicle and I think its the best looking electric SUV so far. I think it has a strong resemblance to the Lexus LF-Z electrified concept car, especially with the low slung profile, blackout greenhouse and the rear panel curves. The Lexus RZ on which it was based was kind of a disappointment.

It looks like a nice car and I am sure some people will love it, but it's not to my taste. I also wonder how the active grill holds up to rocks and debris that it could eat on the road, the repair costs if something goes wrong with that? Very interesting car for sure, but I would never purchase it even if I had the money.

Good points here, espc. the $$$$$$$$$$$$$of it. On the active grill feature, I have owned an EV with this feature, if its made aright, there is no problem with road debris

I'm sure it's been pointed out but there's a pleasant irony here as the 1st car bodies that Tesla brought in to bang out the original Roadsters were on stripped down Lotus Elise chassis just get the concepts down.
