Drs have too many conflicts of interest to give the patient the real story. They made it through medical school and want to make a lot of money. Far too many dentists & doctors are like this.

"...assertions about posture that are not supported by peer-reviewed studies in medicine." NOTE FROM TED. As if 'peer-reviewed studies in medicine' don't come with their own biases, flaws and limitations. She has seen/gotten results. She is a voice to consider and respect for what she has seen and for the people she's helped. Health is complex. We didn't come with a user's manual. This woman is telling what she's seen/learned from the work she does.

I've been doing this exercise for 2 days now. I find myself automatically noticing my bad posture and fixing it with no difficulty. And I've realized that I lean on my left side more for the first time. So very glad that I came across this video. Brand new perspective with immediate result. How is this possible? I've had bad posture all my 30-ish years of life.
My eyes are strained during the exercise and I take off my glasses during, idk if it's the right way, though.
    Nevertheless, Thank you very much!

I think another factor is our eyes get so used to reading from left to right with a screen of light in our eyes. I saw this and did her exercises but focused more on looking at my right finger going from right to left. So far it’s helped my headache that always seems prominent on the right side of my head along with pain behind right eye.

Fixing your feet and breathing may help too
      Some breath exercice i use
10_15 min a day is enough
2_5 min ( 3 sec inhale nose 3 sec exhale mouth) thats an easy worm up exercice to begin with
5 to 10 min ((1) 4 second inhale nose + hold 5 to 10 second and then exhale nose )
Or (2) 4 to 7 sec inhale nose and 4_7sec exhale nose)
Walking barefoot or on minimal shoes everday ( so you have more freedom and walk in more normal gate and load your hips and knees more properly and also get better proprioception from the foot so your brain will learn how to walk properly and activate the right muscle)
It may take mounths to fixit
If you you aren't used to walk barefoot the first day you may feel some pain because you are using muscles you didn't use before and with time muscles will pull the bones into the roght place ( but it mainly pain or soreness go away in day or two)

Fascinating! While we shouldn't discount the importance of evening out the hips (musculoskeletal imbalances can be alleviated w/ AIS), I've long been encouraging (and helping!) my clients to improve their relationship w their feet! I do notice how eye focus effects posture (like when the vision is different in each) but these eye Xs are new to me (dif than the basic vision strengthening Xs) and I will be trying them on myself and my clients! Not going to lie, I was a huuuuuuuuuge skeptic. Like the audience member asked to come up.. My thoughts: all staged. Tried this right after the video, and I swear I could feel myself just align. It was crazy... but it was only for like 5 minutes after the exercise which I did for much longer than 30 seconds. I'm going to continue to do this and see whether or not great posture is possible with continued eye exercise.

In Yoga, there is an area of eye excercise & it's is called "Trataka".Trataka includes more than one eye excercise. Yoga is the way to great health. It's a complete excercise and only excercise in the world for body, mind and to increase energy levels. It effects each and every cell in your body. Learn traditional yoga and practice it daily. Practicing yoga daily is really crucial. Only then,we can draw the benefits. And we will see (the good& positive)changes in 3 to 4 years. By then it would become a habit. Make it a habit...make your life great!

On the pen test, placed on the center of the nose, but on the second test, it was on the right of the nose. And said it fixed the eye. Come on....

I don't say her technique is wrong or not usable, but look at the pen position before (09:04) and after (11:00) treatment. It's clearly that she put the pen misalign, a little shift to the left side, therefore the volunteer's eyes will tend to shift a bit to the left also and the two eyes look symmetric, but it's not. Do you think the "volunteer" is not real volunteer ? Why she invites the volunteer only in the first row ? You should not do this kind of trick in a TED talk, even your idea is a good one.

I think it looked not centered bc of the camera distance and angle. Plus I can see how a plant might be able to control their hand placement, but their eyes? I doubt it. Plus, I just tried it (had same issue). Totally doubtful it would work, but it did haha

This is really interesting. I think some of her language/metaphors are inaccurate however. For example we aren't designed to "fight" gravity as she states when talking about the sensory connection between the soles of the feet and muscles in the spine. We are designed to live in a harmonic balance of tension and compression with gravity...nothing in our design is there to create the experience of 'fighting'. We fight gravity (and many other things physically and emotionally) when we are not embodying our functional design. That is an accurate statement.

If that’s the case - what about children who are born with visual impairments (blind)?
